Loot table are too wide and it makes them opaque.
I got the impression that every mob can loot over 1.000 items.
If it’s true, this is why I don’t like the idea of RNG-increment (prop. 2).
When did we stop to increase chance of loot, at the first yellow ?

They only said there would be no gear treadmill. One new tier doesn’t equal a treadmill.
Here is my point, it’s not “one new tier”, it’s -at least- 5 new tiers.
In other MMO, tiers define access to new raids : T0 unlocks Raid1, T1 unlocks Raid2, […]
In guild wars 2, AR10 cap unlocks FotM10, AR25 cap unlocks FotM 20, […]
I don’t define a tier to its color or its name but to its function.
How to fix ascended system ?
Remove agony.
The credo of Guild Wars 2 was “No vertical progression at level max”.
Result with AR : 14 strata (from 5 to 70) and 5 “hard cap” (10-25-40-55-70)
I don’t have problem with stats incrementation but agony resistance take me away from fractal.
Mecanics in fractal lv30+ seems fun but I don’t have access to them because I don’t reach the AR cap.
About defiance :
- separate interupt effect from crow control effect.
- insert timed window in which all controll effect are allowed instead of 1 hit before defiance reset.
In raids :
- Interrupt some boss’ skill (classic mmo mecanic)
- Push boss in a corner with knock back (or skilled use of fear) to trigger the next pattern (GW2 mecanic)
Boss fight pattern :
- Build a catapult
Use F to construct like what we got in WvW or grab a repair-kit and bring it to the trebuchet like sPvP
- Interrupt a skill that engage defiance-free window
Or another trigger but this one is classic
- Push the boss in the launcher of catapult
Use Crow Control effect like knockback. In other MMO, we kite boss. Here, we throw him.

You don’t event know what could be raids in guild wars 2 but you throw the idea away.

- Healers :
Direct heal, heal over time, damage absorption, damage reduction, resurection
- Dps :
Conditions, Control effect (fear, stun), Interrupt, Stealth, Swiftness
- Tank :
- Damage reflection (both close and ranged)
Now, what Guild Wars 2 got but not other game :
- Players mecanics :
- as a group
Combo system
Wall of reflection / absorption (ie : depends of your position, not a buff)
Revive
- as a single unit
Launch effect
Evade
Downed state
- World mecanics
Using looted item as weapon
Building (walls, door, siege weapon)
What is a typical raid encounter in other MMO ?
- Specific role : support (healer), dps and interrupt (nuker), aggro and control/positionning (tank).
- Distinct phase between dps and survival.
- Clear trigger between each phase.
- Follow a pattern.
- Challenge = HP pool x hit damage
What could be GW2-DNA Raids ?
- Use GW2 specific game mecanics (list above).
- Invert role during the fight.
- Randomize patterns.
- Challenge = insert new pattern
Yesterday (or 2 days ago), I posted an exemple of a typical fight but I was wrong.
I have done so many raids in other mmo that I couldn’t stand back but with the reasoning above, it’s a little easier.
I keep the idea of the big bad wolf because world of warcraft did it wrong and guild wars 2 can do it better.
Baseline :
10 players, the boss, a big place.
Global strategy :
The raid is splited into 4 colors.
3 players are blue, 3 yellow, 3 green, 1 red.
The boss will follow the red player and kill him if he hits him.
Boss got melee and ranged attack.
Each color got a role :
- Red : survive
- Green : absorb / reflect ranged attack
- Blue : slow / immobilize boss
- Yellow : dps
“- Hey purecontact, that’s cool but it is what we can found in other mmo !”

Detailed strategy :
Red have to run and use evade if teamate fails. (single unit mecanic)
Green must use their own skill if they can or they take a caudecus’ rifle on the ground (group and world mecanic)
Blue take shovel or hammer on the ground to build traps. (world mecanic)
Yellow dps. (Yeah, I know but to much use of GW2 specific mecanics could make it boring.)

Red : “Ruuuuun”
Green : Kite and send back ranged attack
Blue : “Have you played Monster Hunter ? Diiiiiiig !” (Some traps in the place need 10 builder to be build up and stun the boss for XX sec)
Yellow : To work well, Yellow have to be link to Blue. It doen’t mean that the scramble after “all blue” have to be yellow but the “all yellow” can’t come if we didn’t get “all blue” before.
The key of the fun is to randomize the scramble (both effect and frequency).
This is wrong in so many levels, no offence
How can a personnal tier list being wrong ?
How curious that this is a dungeon thread yet nobody treats fractals as dungeons, when they are the highest level of dungeon mechanics
Because people like me don’t run fractals.
I don’t like agony mecanics (“hello vertical stuff progression”).
Sooner, I’ve posted my top 3 but I want to underline my flop 3.
So, here it is :
Flop 1 : “Raid-bound” rewards
Nope. Nope, Nope !
“You have done this boss ? Okay, show me the skin / title / mini and I’ll make you a place in the raid.”
I’ve seen this a lot of time in other MMO, I don’t want this to come in GW2.

Flop 2 : Personnal UberSkillz
If you want to play alone then I got lots of Action-RPG for you.
I don’t want guildmate to blame me because I missed my dodge or because I don’t get the APM of a 15 years-old boy (or girl).
I want to feel like I’m a great player because I’m aware of my team not because my dps rotation is perfect.
Flop 3 : Not linked to guild / Not instanced.
I’m really not okay with that for two reason :
1. : Creating link with other players won’t kill you.
Plus, you can have up to 5 guild in GW2 and some of them are created only for organized event (like great wurm or tequatl). I’m sure you will be able to find a guild created to run Raids.
2. : Dynamic scale is harder to balance.

2. Implement measures that counteract low-end outlier behavior inside of game design. This would be a system that is something like: If player hasn’t received a rare drop in X time send them Y tickets for random drops.
2.5: “Add secondary reward mechanisms (ie. token based system) alongside the primary RNG system; allow progress to be made even when you don’t get the result you want.”
Obviously these are hyper-simplified descriptions, but I don’t want this to get too long.
I don’t really like 2 because I’m the kind of guy who can get 100% chance to crit and hit 10 times without a crit.
2.5 is great.
I don’t get luck ? That’s no big deal, I’ll get the item sooner or later !
Edit : When you think about token, you don’t think about random drop in a range, right ? right !?!
I mean, I kill tequatl, I got 1 mega world boss token and with XX tokens, I can buy a mini-tequatl.
I support the 2.5 because everyone is on the same flat level.

There’s really no reason to take more than 1 warrior in a speedrun.
I don’t talk about speedrun, why should I ?
Do you spend your time speedrunning dungeons or you run them casual ?
As far as I’m concern, I run more casualrun than speedrun.
Please list your top three priorities for raiding (Challenging, Instanced, Cooperative, Content)
0. Knowledge.
The base to avoid zerg.
We already have brainless big fight and we call it “World Boss”.
1. Teamplay Based Encounter
I want to be a part of a team (not a zerg : a team).
I don’t want to be able to do the boss fight alone but I want to play with my teamate.
Ex : Aegis, Blind or Interrupt rotation.
2. (Free of any) Raid Group Setup Restriction
I guess 8 class are in GW2.
I’ve seen 4 or 5 of them… /sarcasm :p
Seriously : I want to feel free to chose my class without telling myself “Hey, you can’t take a guardian, we will lack of bleed”.
3. No Stuff Restriction
Mecanics may be great over lv. 30 in fractals but I’ve never tried them because I don’t get enough agony resistance.
Agony is the worst think Arenanet introduced in Guild Wars 2 (by far), don’t do it again
An exemple of a typical raid boss fight :
Phase 1 – Rush the big boss, Hit him untill XX%
Trigger A – Big boss teleport us 5 by 5 in separate closed rooms
Phasse 2 – 5-man group have to kill a little boss in each room
Trigger B – Big boss teleport us, back to Phase 1.
Phase 1 is about general mecanics and/or personnal skills :
- Position : Stay between lines.
- Interact with the world : Grab a shovel and dig to hide from an awful aoe !
- Nochtli / Tequatl : I said Jump !
Phase 2 is about team synergy :
- Cant touch this : Aegis, blind, daze rotation. Set items (like 2 rifles) on the floor with those effect to avoid situation in which you don’t get the “good” class.
- Hit combo : If you don’t get heal (direct or over time) or protection, this 3-combo will kill you ! (34% of maximum hp each hit)
- Big bad wolf : A teamate is the Little Red Riding Hood and you have to immobilize / snare / stun or keep the teamate under swiftness to let him a chance to stay alive !
If one group fails the little boss (because they are dead or didn’t killed it in time), the big one earn a buff that force the whole raid to focus on a hidden Phase based on survivability and using game mecanics (throwing water bucket on fire, using air rifle to send back missile).
I know Colin doesn’t want something that had been done in other MMO but he may take a look at the Opera Event in Karazhan (World of Warcraft).
Instead of healing the runner, we might help him or slow the wolf.
Sorry for the quality, it’s not my video and it’s pretty hard to find one in 1080p for a 7 year old content :p.
Remember that you got a lot of cool mecanics in Guild Wars 2.

1. Accessibility
Guild Wars 2 has been about playing the game your way since the start. If a player doesn’t know enough people to form a Raid group, he should be able to join one almost as easily as he can walk into open world content like a Tequatl attack.
This is why I didn’t say “Accessibility”.
If you don’t have enough friends to make a raid, then make friends !

You will get between 200 & 275 tickets this season.
Season 3, you’ll get the same amount of tickets and you will be able to buy a skin.
It will take you a year to have a skin that a top tier will have in 9 weeks.
It seems pretty obvious but I may be wrong.

It is already viable.
With 5 arrowcart, you can kick 60+ kitten easily.
But I agree, it takes too many time to get upgrade that will be destroy in 3 min at 7am.
Hi,
Some ideas for the engineer turrets :
Regroup them by use :
- Rifle, rocket and net turret for distant combat (range : 1000)
- Thumper, flame and add chill or blindness for close combat (range : 400)
Global turrets change :
- Create a support turret that add randomly swiftness, retaliation, might, fury, protection, aegis or protection.
- Reset CD when you pick it up.
Traits :
- Add a Master traits that reduce turret’s cooldown when they are destroyed (In my mind, replace Invention X : Autotool Installation).
- Improve Invention XII – Rifle Turrets Barrel : Turrets deal more damage (change from 15% to 35% or 50%) and have a longer attack range (from 33% to 50%).
Why ?
Turrets are weak because they are not pets.
If you improve their resistance, you will transform them in necromancer’s pet and there will be no reason to roll as engineer instead of necro.
If you change their mecanics, you will have a class specific gameplay.
(Excuse me for my lack in english skill, I hope you’ll understand the idea.)
