Transmuting is not about turning 101 of something into 250 of the same something. The mystic coin and essence of luck are, essentially, what you pay for the convenience of getting 99 out of 100 of the dust you used back if you change your mind about wanting it in a brick, instead of having to farm that 99.
It makes perfect sense to me why they would set it at 100 produced, and I truly doubt this is a bug. Who knows, perhaps it is, and I’m wrong – but it seems unlikely to me.
Considering it only takes 100 dust to make a brick, I can’t imagine why anyone would think that transmuting a brick to dust would produce more.
If it produced 250 at some point, that was likely an error and was corrected. Otherwise, people could produce bloodstone dust for a couple obsidian shards and thermocatalytic agents. The wiki is not maintained by Arenanet, but by fans, so may not reflect correct information.
Unfortunately, I’m still getting the error. This doesn’t necessarily mean it isn’t fixed for a lot of people, though; I’ve been having problems with this for a lot longer than most, and don’t have the same symptoms as the recent increase in problems (basically, it’s not just a single character getting stuck, I can’t log in to anyone once I’ve gotten the error, until I reset my router).
I hope this works out for the majority, and that maybe it’ll lead to a fix for those like me who’ve been suffering this for over a month.
Have you specifically tried to point your system DNS at the Google DNS servers? There have been specific instances of particular ISPs having DNS routing issues that effected players similar to this issue that were fixed by doing this.
Just offering a suggestion (and please reply back here to confirm outcome of trying this if you do).
Yes, I did that a while ago. No effect whatsoever on my disconnects.

Race: Sylvari
Sex: Male
Class: Warrior (but presumably holds true for guardians as well)
The bugged armor is the Warden Shoulderguards – Tier 2 Sylvari cultural.
There is a piece of the shoulder which is drawing texture and colour from the chest armor worn with it. when worn with the matching chestpiece (T2 sylvari cultural), it looks normal. When worn with any other chestpiece, this part of the shoulder looks absolutely bizarre. I have screenshots to illustrate! I drew a red box around the piece in question to make sure it’s not overlooked.
In the first screenshot, I am wearing it with the T2 top, and it looks normal. Like a thorned vine behind the shoulder.
In the second, I am wearing it with the Scallywag top; you can see that the piece in question becomes a red band looping behind the shoulder.
In the third, I am wearing it with the Armageddon (temple) top; the piece in question is now a chrome and green band.
In the fourth, I am wearing it with the Twilight Arbor heavy top; the piece in question is now a blue-grey band.
I changed nothing but what top I was wearing with it (and therefore what dyes and textures it was pulling from my chestpiece).
There is a thread in the tech support forums related to this issue: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Connection-error-7-11-3-191-101-merged It’s currently at the very top of the page and difficult to miss!
There are some suggestions in that threat that may get you playing again for a while (or may not; they don’t appear to work for everybody). I recommend you read through the thread.

I’d advise your friend to read through the thread (especially the posts from Anet representatives), and hope for the best. It’s still being worked on but there are some suggestions for temporary solutions that may get him playing against for a while, at least.
ISP: Sprint
Region: Washington, USA
Server: Tarnished Coast
When this occurs for me, I cannot log in on any character. It’s not a character being ‘stuck’ for me.
Then my character’s backstory should have been conveyed better. I’ve played him myself for nearly 3,000 hours over the past two years, so if he had ever come across this kind of information, I should be aware of it.
Except you don’t play your character from birth to now. You jump into a life that has already been lived for many years, has passed through any book or combat teachings, and upon starting is already more than capable of taking on dangerous enemies.
You have clearly never played a sylvari, because the bolded is exactly what you do as one. Your personal story starts in your Dream before you awake and moves on from there. And given the PC has to ask lots of questions about the dragon they have a Wyld Hunt to kill (along with many other “common knowledge” types of things), I’m pretty sure they didn’t spend their time in the Dream boning up on Mordy.
No. Factions promote hostility between /players/. Just look at how riled up people got over Gnashblade vs Kiel. Look at any game with factions, and you’ll find an extremely negative us vs them attitude that goes far beyond being “in character.” You can’t be Hordeside in WoW for five minutes without hearing someone call Alliance players names simply for preferring to play Alliance, and Alliance players similarly insult Horde players for nothing more than playing as Horde.
GW2 does not need factions. It also does not need to enshrine racism. Celebrating the foul aspects of real life isn’t “mature.” It’s just promoting them.
I am having this problem as well. I’m connecting using a mobile data card through Sprint because it’s the fastest internet available where I am.
GW2 will kick me with the error code in the thread title when the rest of the internet seems to be running fine. I’ve found that once this happens, I can connect to the login server normally, but when I try to select a character, it sticks on the loading screen and then after a bit, gives me the same error code and boots me again. The only way to start playing again is to use the “update data profile” function on my data card, after which I can once again log in to a character and play.
This does not happen at consistent intervals. I’ve had it happen anything from 20 minutes to several hours since the last time.
I’m curious if other people having this problem might be connecting through mobile devices?
I can vouch for gem purchases working with bank transfers; that’s usually how I pay for them, since I prefer not to use credit more often than I really must. I do have a credit card attached to my PayPal that’s set as a “failsafe” payment method in case a bank transfer fails somehow. If you don’t, perhaps that’s what’s causing it to fail?
10 characters
7 at 80 (one of everything but engineer at 80, engi is 30-odd)
3 map completions.
Have another one at ~78% with WvW done so I might go for him soon. Ish. Once I can step into Ascalon and Shiverpeaks zones without cringing again. Look, I just mainlined Iron Marches, Diessa, Lornar’s, Dredgehaunt, and Timberline in a couple of days finishing up that 3rd completion… it’s going to haunt me for a while. >_>
Race: Sylvari (maybe others? I didn’t have anything else to check on)
Sex: Male
Profession: Any light
Physique: any
Height: Any
Armor piece: Exalted Pants
The exalted pants have a bright red backing on the belt buckle that can be seen from the side and slightly behind. Additionally the corners of this backing show through on the lower outer edges of the buckle from the front, and red appears along the seam at the split of the skirt. In the example pictures, the clothing is dyed with enameled sky, deep glacial teal, and sea ice; the red is extremely out of place. I’ve circled it so that it’s more easily visible, however.
I just used a makeover kit to check the eye colours I know were affected, and it looks like they’re fixed – I don’t know if all of them are, but Spring and Amber at least are fine again.
Time for the qq from people who used makeover kits in a huff who now want their old eye colours back. XD
My group ran into the same issue last night. We’d destroyed four or five generators and then wiped; when we came back there were no holopirates spawning. We ended up destroying the generators ourselves, though it took a veeeery long time to do so due to their shielding, since none of us wanted to do a full reset of the dungeon and we had no other way of resetting that room at that point.
I agree. There’s a few very good reasons emote range should be reduced!
First, it’s difficult for a large group of roleplayers to have a semi-private event when emote range is so large; before it increased, we could find a seldom-used corner of a map, but with extended emote range, it’s become far more likely that such events will be crashed by people wanting to troll the goings-on. While two people can use whispers, and up to five can use /party, once you go over five there is no good alternative; /squad firstly requires a commander, and secondly can be joined by anyone curious about why the tag’s up, making it less than private. Guild chat is the only option, and that’s a poor one as anyone logging in is likely to interrupt with greetings without even know they’re interrupting.
Second, there are some types of RP that can be disturbing to wander past. I’m not talking about sexual things or graphic violence – those should always be kept to private channels. But there are still things done in RP that not everyone is comfortable seeing, and before, with a smaller emote range, it was far less likely you’d stumble across those. Now, it’s hard to miss it if you’re anywhere within a large chunk of the zone around where the RP is taking place.
Third, stray emotes from way across the zone are commonplace interruptions to RP now, and it’s frustrating; when you have a large group, it can be difficult enough to follow what’s going on with everyone RPing together, even without throwing in stray emotes.
Having the emote range reduced would be fantastic, please.
I also just received the Big Boom in the Big City achievement, and the reward, on zoning in to Lion’s Arch overflow from The Grove.
My main, a ranger, uses female face #3; my little thief uses female face #4. My mesmer uses male face #1, my warrior uses male face number 3, and my guardian uses male face number 8.
Yes, I am addicted to sylvari, why do you ask?
In the cave at Bramble Pass in the Straits of Devastation, there’s a bit of cave wall/ceiling missing and you can jump up into the terrain. (The third image is the same as the first, but I’ve circled the place where you can get through – it blends a little bit, so I thought I’d point it out better.)
