Let’s say I wanted to make a watcher for a select list of events.
Naturally, I’ll be querying /v1/events, possibly specifying a world_id.

I see how to limit the output to one event, but it’s not clear if you support having the results limited to a set of event_ids, rather than dumping all of them. Sending one query per event is not the right answer (slow and expensive). So in the meantime I’m just gonna dump all the events, and filter client side.

However, if it would take any pressure off your severs for me to be more specific in what I want, then let us know what the syntax is. Thanks!

Must it always be in my quest pane?

Okay… so I’ve done all the achievments possible… yet I still have the gold section crowding up my quest/event pane all the time. It would be nice to get this away.

I glance over there on a periodic basis to see what’s up around me, and the progress, etc.

The living story is roughly the same color as world or meta events, so I’m constantly thinking something cool is nearby… but it’s not.

This gets old.

Then again, I play Grenades, so I just need them inside range 1500…

I don’t see it working, as there are too many class specific mechanics on some weapons.

Do warriors with a mesmer staff get clones?
What about ranger skills that affect your pet?
What about thief weapons that use initiative, not cooldowns?

And the balance would be impossible.

removing events from around skill points

It’s gimmicky, but there’s also the Ash Legion Spy Kits available for a pittance of karma in Plains of Ashford.

With them, you:
1) activate the kit, which changes your skill bar to one skill.
2) run up to the skill pt.
3) use the kit skill.
4) commune
5) run away

I just cleared Malchor’s Leap, and was able to get some of the “blocked” points in this manner.

Warriors already have half again the number of weapon combinations than everyone else… They don’t need more.

I understand the issue with grenade engineers, but here you have to either like the current system or not like it. Don’t try to change the system because of one single skill (/kit).

If you constantly run around with the grenade kit, better constantly use this option. For this I’d prefer either an option “turn on with grenade kit” (next to “on” and “off”).

But if you haven’t noticed, pressing the skill button again starts the skill – w/o using the LMB. This might be a tiny bit slower than using both button triggers (down and up), but it still works. I pretty much don’t use the LMB and don’t like the current option either, but I got used to pressing the skill twice (sometimes with mouse movement and sometimes just spam twice). Feels okay even with grenade kit (but I still hate it).

I also play ele, necro, and plenty of other roles which use ground targeting. I want this for all of them, but singled out grenades, since that is the time where after doing a dungeon for a while, my hand hurts.

And yes, I know about the double hitting to get what I want. That’s what I currently do as a compromise, but the rapid tapping non-stop is what kills my hand.

I guess I don’t see what the problem with my suggestion is. If you like the current system, it’ll still behave the same way… You tap the key, and the skill fires where you were pointing.
This just gives you the option to fine tune your targetting by holding the key down.

New way for Fast Casting

A nifty way to increase the usefulness of fast casting ground targeting would be to break it up between key down and key up.

On Key Down: Bring up the targeting reticle, and allow it to be moved with the mouse still.

On Key Up: Fire the skill at current mouse location.

This should be a trivial change to those already using FCGT, since it will quickly fire. However, it also allows people to still have the visual size and location cues that non-FCGT get.

btw, I posted an in game bug when I tried getting into the mine from “over the top”. I was able to get to the hole looking down into the mine, and tried jumping down, only to get stuck, and had to portal out.

and on a completely separate topic, the vista in there is just sadistic.

If you could post a screenshot of your minimap (zoomed in) with the sector name (the name that appears at the top of the mini-map when hovering your mouse over it) where you encountered the terrain bug, it would be much appreciated and help us hunt down the issue.

Funny, I had assumed that along with the auto-screenshot that the bug tool reporting tool took, it would also record the exact position I was in at the time. Would seem relatively simple to implement, but I don’t know your codebase, so can’t really say.
