Started a Warrior, but now I’m thinking about going Ele instead. I play mostly WvW, do a ton of supply running, and sometimes scouting/watching certain areas, so the ability to cover ground quickly is really important to me. Also, I’m the type of player that can be happy with one class for a long long time, if it fits my play style; it sounds like the Ele is really versatile, and I think it will be an effective class for years to come.
Try spending the evening escorting yaks and building siege in camps, keeps and towers and see how many you get
I currently spend more (repair bills, blue prints) than I make in WvW (which is all I care to play) and am not happy that important tasks that don’t involve lots of killing go largely unrewarded.
I know ANet is rightly concerned with bots. I would be fine with account-bound rewards that I could use for gear and blue prints as a reward the time and effort, and offset the expense of doing the dirty work. Something is better than nothing.
Maybe I’m crazy, but I for some strange reason think the OP’s question is related to GW2, rather then real life. ;-)
I don’t play a warrior, yet, so I can’t answer the question specifically.
Auto-loot would solve the problem, but if I understand correctly, the OP seems to have the impression that we compete with each other for bags, which is not the case. Each person only sees their own bags.

I almost exclusively WvW and find it useful. It can be swapped out with the Eagle Eye trait for extended range when you’re on top of a wall, or attacking others on top of a wall.
I truly felt sorry for the commanders online having to deal with these people, it was like herding cats.
Well, we at SBI have a commander just for that! ;-)
Thanks for the update and insight. I do appreciate it and am for the most part happy with the game. I’m having a blast playing WvWvW on my Ranger, but I know there are issues with both of those things that need to be addressed.
My comment is a general one; I would much rather see more focus on fixing issues with the product that’s already out there before coming up with new content and events. For example, I’d much much rather someone be working near full-time on fixing the problems with Ranger pets, as opposed to doing stuff like animating candy-corn figures for Halloween. I know the game will always undergo changes, but I think the adage “in order to finish first, first you must finish” applies.
Lots of good observations and ideas in this thread. IMO, until they can address several issues at once, we should still be able to use catas behind gates.
Yes please. For WvW I always have have SoH (even though it’s very weak) as well as a horn, and RaO for my elite. There’s just too much ground to cover at default speed, especially since we generally have to avoid combat when alone.
Bottom line, a single viable speed boost would be wonderful.
You can’t get rid of them, and they generally don’t work well. Hopefully those issues will be addressed, but there’s no indication that will happen anytime soon.
I’m in the minority, but I went LB/Axe + Warhorn. In most (PvE) cases I can just send the pet in, let it strike first to hold aggro, and then stand back and snipe/barrage. Any thing that comes my way gets knocked back, or has to walk through a Barrage. I love the Warhorn. The axe isn’t great, but it along with the horn’s one damage skill are decent for while your bow skills are on CD. I have had no trouble at all in PvE.
If you plan on doing any PvP or WvW, you will probably find your Ranger lacking, at least until more patches, or one really huge one, is rolled out. Lots of people here on the forum have given up all hope that Rangers will be fixed to their liking, but I’m not doing that this early.
Yeah, I thought the same thing. I guess it could be argued it’s kind of in keeping with the Ranger theme since its weather related, but maybe an animation of some animal similar to a couple of the Ranger GS animations would be more fitting. In other words, you summon the spirit of an animal to deliver the hit.
but they as a company have a different perspective and have to do what they think is best for the business overall
Then why can’t they tell us anything at all about what their perspective is? The silence is deafening.
Because it’s a no-win proposition, IMO. No matter what they say, there will be complainers, and certain segments of their user base will feel alienated. How many other companies you do business with honestly explain all of their priorities to you? Do you really think you’d be happy with every company you do business with if they did explain their priorities every time you weren’t satisfied?
Generally speaking, the best public message for any business is that they want to fix all problems and always work make their product/service better for everyone.

I’m a frustrated Ranger, too, and I’m struggling to find the motivation to lvl up another character, but I’m also a realist.
A-Net wants to sell more copies of GW2, more gems, future expansion packs, and other A-Net titles, so of course they care about their customers. That does not mean they agree with every opinion of every customer or prioritize things the same way you or I do, nor that they have the manpower to fix everything in a timely fashion, but it’s a huge leap to say they just don’t care. If I had my druthers, the number one and two priorities would be fix Rangers and fix and improve WvWvW, but they as a company have a different perspective and have to do what they think is best for the business overall.
I expect over time that things will be balanced out, but it will take many months and the work will never be complete.
One thing only A-Net can fix is that a lot of times downed players will close the game before you can finish them. Until there’s some sort of penalty for closing the game (this has been discussed in many other threads) sometimes you’ll just be SOL. I find I have better luck against this by just trying to damage them to death using normal attacks, rather than the finishing move.
Perfect opportunity for Ranger pets to become useful. They can sit of the faces of the dead.
I haven’t spent a ton of time thinking about this so I won’t comment on the specific ideas put forth by the OP, but I have come to realize that there’s important but boring and unrewarding work that needs to be done in WvW, and these suggestions are welcome. Call me crazy, but I have a sense of duty when I know a camp or yak or structure needs watching and nobody else is doing it. I just wish I could get some good loot, and especially badges, for doing it.
We certainly don’t need bots, but we don’t need more or bigger zergs, either. Giving people incentive to be useful in different ways is a great idea.
Just because they don’t exist here does not mean your server does not have a forum. You should ask in game.
