It is the best part of the event, and it’s the one that is the most affected by lag making it largely unplayable for many except at very very late hours :/
Bah, this is nothing. There was some heavy armor plate bikini norn in the waiting area for the JP. She was halfway bend forward and I could see straight into her cleavage. She had a huge hole in the stomach area and I could actually see right through her the ground behind! It must hurt.
So, you finally answered my question : you do not sell the item to “buy demands” but list the item at a price and wait for someone to buy it.
My answer was in the context of the first post that asked people to stop putting “buy demands” for items at a price lower than creation cost.
There’s 50000 crafters available for each recipe. If someone posted an order where you could actually make a profit, it’d already be filled up by someone else. Which is why when you look at the TP, the odds are very very high you’ll only see the demands for prices lower than the craft cost.
It’s because it’s the only demands that stay long enough for you to see them.
You must not be @ 400 Jewelcrafting then… hmm… guess my 1 gold profit a day from simply buying the materials off the Trading Post and selling it back as a crafted item isn’t paying off… guess I should stop getting about a 13% return rate of my investment every single day because I know how to buy & sell??
Ya, I think I’ll stick to a free gold a day. Jewelery sells w/in an hour at bottom market value. The average rate of return is 8 – 15% depending on what you sell… and that’s buying every crafting material straight out of TP. I did the math, I know.
Are you selling the items back in “demands” or just putting them for sale at the price you want and wait for someone to pick it up?

In the Halloween JP the elementalist trait for speed while in air attunement still worked.
Now, it seems swiftness doesn’t even work at all. I tried getting the boon and we get no speed increase out of it. Come to think, I’d say we are already at swiftness speed by default which is the cap anyway.
I nominate that ninja change for the most annoying and misguided ninja change in the history of MMOs. Why do something so aggravating? Is that some internal bet you play between you to see who invents the most annoying change in the game ever?
That “Unavailable” thing happens when ANet wants to disable something ASAP and cannot wait for a game or server patch I’d say.
600 on lower and mid which are the easiest. Tried to 600 the upper but the very bad lag makes it very random unless playing at 3 AM.
Actually, it’s not Ambush Trap I was talking about. It’s Shadow Trap. My mistake XD
The thief puts the trap on the point, then once you trigger it you get flagged by the thief and he got some time he can use a followup skill that will teleport him in stealth (5s) near you. It also works from 2800 range away.
And what is the supposed counter for Cloak and Dagger spamming condition thieves?
You got two dodges. Two C&D and the thief is all out of initiative. Seems obvious to me.
How did you test? Seems to be working just fine, hitting something with C&D doesn’t slow you down, despite going into combat
What’s possible is that there’s a hard cap at 133% move speed. So when in combat, since you got a speed malus, the 50% bonus isn’t partially wasted since it still keeps us under the total cap. But out of combat it doesn’t work better than swiftness.
I think ANet doesn’t want to buff Ricochet too much because in situations with 2 targets, it’s a huge DPS boost.
Think about it : it’s 20% chance to fire a bullet that hits two targets. So it’s 20% more damage. And contrary to the usual +xx% damage, it works for conditions too. And it also gives 20% more “hits” so 20% more proc on hits etc…
All that in a much easier package than piercing bullets which require targets to be aligned in front of you.
Probably Ambush Trap related. At least the part where you start capping, and bam, he backstabs you.
They melt? Never noticed XD
No one missed it, they are that already.
Problem is that they got 50% increased movement in stealth. They didn’t needed it and WvWvW will hurt badly for it. Even more thieves and less of the other ‘weak’ professions, it’s not what the players want.
The 50% buff doesn’t work anyway.
I doesn’t look faster than Swiftness indeed.
Ranged is a problem, though, because untargeted shots tend to just fizzle out, like, ten feet away from your character.
Ranged already got a perfect defense agaisnt C&D : keeping at range.
Em, okay. So how are you supposed to get out of that when he uses it 4 times in a row? Because my skillset won’t allow me to survive that much focus.
How do the other classes that don’t have such “trait” handle that?
Well problem is, somehow, I don’t know what is CET. I know I’m in GMT+1 or GMT+2 depending on daylight saving changes but the “alias” CET isn’t something I remember :p
Best anyway is to give a link to a website that does the conversion automatically into the user timezone.
After reviewing this and talking with a couple other designers about it, I am now investigating dodge rolls and lupicus’s bubble.
Investigating to do what?
Why should “Reckless Dodge” allow you to exit the bubble when the trait is just supposed to add some damage at end of roll?
Or the other way around : why cannot you exit the bubble without the trait since it’s just supposed to add some damage at end of roll?
Anyway, something IS broken and needs investigating.
I’m just puzzled – why do I never ever have issues with thieves in sPvP, but in WvW they seem utterly broken?
No food in sPvP and the berserker gear there isn’t pure zerk either but a mix of power/precision/crit/vitality
Stealth is the best defense in the game, so a glass canon Thief is MUCH safer than say a glass canon Warrior. Not only that, but the best defense in the game are the procs available to crit builds.
Total Invulnerability is the best defense in the game, not Stealth.
Glass canon Warrior got more armor and twice the HP of glass canon thief too. And invulnerability skills, and 100% block chance for a time skills.
1st person view would be a nice addition to the game, it will be especially helpful when jumping around and when exploring.
But more important for me is to have max zoon out distance set the same as when fighting the Jade Maw in the Fractals, which is FAAAAAR compared to the rest of the game… Why can’t we have that max-distance everywhere else in the game?
Probably the same reason why they don’t want to give us 1st person : they want you to see your character in all it’s (screen occluding) beauty at all times or nearly all.
They should use something like that : http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=Guild+Wars+2+Winterdays+release&iso=20121215T10&p1=137
This kind of link makes it easier for everyone to understand when the event starts
Hey, they even make countdowns now : http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?p0=137&iso=20121215T10&msg=Guild%20Wars%202%20Winterdays%20release
Neat
Edit : stupid forum breaks all links with a “&” in them. Just cut&paste the first link text to make it work.

Melee should already continue to attack a thief in stealth. It’s the right thing to do and the damage still hurts. There’s no reason to reward them even more with a noob orented stealth breaking effect. Learn to read when your attack chain goes in combo and when it doesn’t.
Ranged casters shouldn’t come in the melee range required to make C&D work in the first place.
You jsut said it yourself
Maybe it wouldn’t be that much use against warriors and guardians because if they constantly swing their weapon they`ll hit you, but with casters it will be the same.
And casters have melee weapons too they can swing like that, except the elementalist. And projectile attacks already started will still hit the thief after he goes into stealth as if nothing happened.
I’m sorry I forgot that this is the only way for you to get stealth and it implies that you stay and continue bashing your foe.
What?
I said, melee => break stealth => C&D becomes an expensive unreliable mess best not used. Now pray tell me, how does the fact thieves have other skills they can use to stealth not make my statement the truth?
And what the hell you you mean by “it implies that you stay and continue bashing your foe”? If you attack your foe in stealth it already breaks it anyway.
The current 3rd person camera in GW2 has massive flaws. All along the line of “get my char out of here I cannot see what’s happening!”
See, when you only have access to 3rd person camera, when you want to look up, the camera would have to go into the ground for that to work. Or, the camera is close enough to the player that you can actually look up without having it getting stuck in the ground, and then your character takes up nearly the whole field of view. Bonus points if you play a female in skirts because it looks as if you’re trying to see her panties.
But you say, is there a need to look up in this game?
What about enjoying the nice visuals? The 3rd person camera gives me a claustrophobic view where I’m stuck looking at the ground permanently.
What about fighting the massive creatures around you? When I’m getting close to one of the dragons, I cannot aim up to see it’s head. Funnily enough, the head is also one of the parts you need to click on to target it.
What about the harpy fractal? (yeah it’s technically not the harpy fractal but once they learn that knockback move, you’ll remember it for THAT)
Give us a 1st person mode when we zoom in the camera to the max so that we can enjoy looking at the horizon line and above!
Why not make stealth disappear if the player is being hit with melee/ranged.
It would make the C&D skill 100% useless. That’s why.
Same reason you can swap Engineer skills while the toolbelt equivalent is in CD, allowing you to use all the toolbelt skills in quick succession.
Wait, what? Why blind then shadowstep away when you could do the later first and get the same result?
Mark my words, that signet and that blind is very good. But using it against a warrior HB after he knocks you down to save some life before you use a shadowstep. What?
One hit of HB is 20% less damage than their greatsword first hit autoattack. Instead of using the blind to mitigate like 1500 damage on a crit, why not use it against Eviscerate or Bull’s Rush instead?
The ONLY low CD/spammable stealth skill the thief got is conditional to a 130 range melee attack that has to connect and costs a load of initiative.
Just dodge the C&D.
Because blinding the knockdown while you execute is bad. Blinding the HB after getting bull rushed is bad. Et cetera.
Someone maybe wise once said :
You have no idea what you’re talking about.
AKA, L2P. Blind doesn’t work against 100 blades because it only stops one hit among 9.
Thank you for giving everyone an example of ‘obtuse’. Where, exactly, did I suggest nerfing the class into an unplayable state?
Well, right here :
1, nerf all thief’s skills damage (e.g. 50%);
And to counter that, the thief needs to put like, 60 trait points into various trait lines to restore it’s damage to normal values? You just destroyed the class from level 1 to 70 and that’s not even checking how horrible the suggestion is for level 80.
Also, reduce thieves damage across the board by 50%. No other class can kill ppl with 2-3 hits without giving opponents a chance to respond. Thieves damage are too high.
A warrior killed me in one hit. And not with 100 blades. I guess since a class that can kill in 2-3 hits needs to be nerfed, warrior needs to be deleted then.
IMO- Basilisk Venom needs a C/D nerf, and I think that would over all balance thief a in a way making the assassinations more of an informed decision instead of run away try again.
We’re talking about the shortest C/D elite skill in the game and it’s a guaranteed win vs glass cannons?
Wait, you don’t take a stun breaker ability in PvP? Confident much are we?
Personally, I think the best compromise might be to remove stealth from Cloak and Dagger so you just can’t spam the crap out of stealth whenever you feel like it, but up the Thief’s health to middle range like the Ranger and Engineer. Maybe even trade places with the Mesmer in that regard since they’re WAY harder to catch and hit than a Thief even now.
And make useless 3/4 of the thief traits in the process. Nice one.
Well then, how do we go about fixing the insane damage, or insane stealth mechanics? We’d like to hear it, and for the record I do have a Thief, the class is wildly OP.
Funny, the only current thief build that can be considered “insane damage” is the C&D, Mug, BS combo build. Which doesn’t use stealth at all for stealthing really since the time between the C&D procs and the BS hits is around 0.25s. Ie, the thief in that build remains stealthed only 0.25s in total. Not counting the broken culling that happens.
But nooo, to “counter” this build you need a blanket nerf to stealth that will make it definitively notstealthy and useless in PvP against good players.

Their reason for no FPS mode is as good as their original argument against changing the FOV. Ie, very bad and I’m scared to think of the other ideas that’d would come from the people that thinks it is a good idea.
Short anwser : No.
Long answer :
Hell no.
I’m going to venture a guess that you are in the extreme minority. While I can see first person being useful for screenshots, I think it would be very difficult to maneuver and accurately jump while exploring. I don’t miss it at all.
Funny, I’m pretty sure I’d find it far easier to navigate and accurately jump in first person.
All racial skills are—by design—weaker than class skills. This is so that no player gets a significant advantage over another based on what race he/she chose. The racial skills are there for flavor. Keeping this in mind, I am glad that it is weaker than the alternatives.
Translation : the racial skills are useless by design. I don’t think it’s a very good design though :/
I’ve killed the boss “correctly” plenty if times before the “fix” before we knew about the bug.
Correctly for me is just killing the first adds, DPSing 25% of the boss, picking hammer, killing one of the now fast (but reasonable) spawning mobs to charge hammer, hitting seal, EVERY MOB except boss despawns and we are stunned, then restarting from the DPSing 25% of the boss part until victory.
The current situation where adds spawn very quickly and don’t despawn on seal hit look like a bug to me no matter how you say it.

Long CC’s are annoying because you cannot act and do anything at all. A stealthed thief doesn’t prevent you from acting unless you behave like a NPC.
A melee thief can stealth again and again thanks to C&D. Let me repeat that : a melee thief. With dagger offhand.
A ranged thief can only stealth depending on his remaining utilities. All are on a rather long CD.
If you fight a thief that stealths again and again, it means it’s a -/D thief. It means he needs to come into melee range to stealth again. If it’s a D/D thief, he’ll want to backstab you which means melee range too.
Here, you just found a way to predict where the thief will go soon : he’ll come right into your arms very soon. All you need is learn the timing and counter attack when he’s the most vulnerable.
All of the damage quotes i’ve stated involve spamming of the ability. Never did i say one use of an ability would do 30k damage. Also 4 uses of unload with haste is only 3.5 seconds. Even if you screw up the whole combo will easily be done in under 5 seconds which is the duration of the might stacks.
4 uses of Unload = 20 initiative used in 3.5s. Care to explain how this is even possible?
P/D thieves are countered by avoiding one or two C&Ds. It’s a L2P issue guys. Not everyone class/build has the same abilities to avoid C&D sure. Ranged players for example have little issues for that while melee need to be more creative. Aegis works but if you don’t have it, well try to blind or use a block skill.
Or dodge. Everyone can dodge. Do not dodge the pistol attacks. Dodge the C&D attack instead. Just that. The pistol attacks are only dangerous with the bleed stats so you purge those. Purge bleeds, dodge C&D and stay out of melee range if you can. Here, you countered the P/D bleed stealth spam build.
A thief with traited Deceptions can more or less keep the smoke screen up 100% of the time that matters too. If you got two thieves there’s no excuse to block all projectiles.
Still, that attack isn’t the most dangerous. You can mostly just hide behind a “tank” and deal with it fully.
When the fractal difficulty goes up, the poison in the room does a LOT more damage and it’s harder to keep the fan running. This should be the priority. Then DPS and then if you can, put smoke screens or other tactics to mitigate the green bolts.
Except the gun doesnt work at all if you’re inside the cage, tested yet.
I think the way to get people out of such “stuck” situations is that someone outside makes a portal entrance as close to the obstacle as possible, and the stuck player should be close enough to that entrance that he can activate it. LoS isn’t checked for that.
