Why should they warn you? When you bought this game you agreed to their rules. Yet you went against that and broke them any ways. You broke the rules knowingly, thus you don’t deserve a warning. You get punished directly for breaking the rules you agreed to when you first started playing the game.

Swearing’s a pretty minor offense, and you shouldn’t get temp banned on the first violation. Just a warning. If it were something more serious, like botting or exploiting, sure, ban away without a warning and let the appeals process sort them out.

exactly, I don’t swear heavily, only occasionally, like most people, and yet, no warning, and they temp ban me. Most people just get away with a warning.

Usually if you are banned for inappropriate language, it is because you directed it at someone in an offensive/provoking manner. Like using it as an insult or in an argument. Then you’ll get banned for it. They barely ban people for saying things like “That is <censored>ing awesome!” or “You are one awesome mother<censored>.”.

It is only when you use it in an offensive/insulting way that they take action.

I almost never swear at someone, never in this game at least, yet countless times, happened to me.

So wait, you have been banned “countless” times for inappropriate language, yet you keep doing it? Did you not learn anything from the previous times?

It is logical to assume, that if you are banned for inappropriate language, you should probably watch your language. And if you are banned “countless” times for inappropriate language, you should definitely watch your language.

Yet you went and did it again any ways regardless? Now I know why they didn’t give you a warning. Sorry, no offense, but you deserve this ban if you have been banned “countless” times already for the same thing.

Learn from your mistake so you don’t keep repeating them.

No, countless times someone swearing directly at me. Didn’t mean to give you the wrong idea.

I would very rarely swear at someone, only once it happened in game and that was Runescape, (2010) most of the time i wouldn’t bother doing it because its a waste of time and isn’t bothersome.

The filter is there for people to avoid seeing that kind of language. Simple as that.

Just cause there is a filter though, doesn’t give you the right to use inappropriate language whenever you want. It is still against the rules to use that kind of language, the filter is just there so players don’t have to see it.

Regardless of a filter or not, don’t break the rules and you can avoid this sort of thing.

but no warning?

Apparently, I have been “temp banned” for inappropriate language for 72 hours. Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of the swear filter? they added that to the game for a reason and in their Code of conduct, they say “No swearing.” then let me ask this, why would they add a swear filter with the option “off” if its against the rules of gw2? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of the swear filter? You might as well remove the entire thing all together.

Well, maybe not Areanet, as they don’t like to be recalled, but I have a pretty good reason why you bought this game.

It looked fun, and when you get home from school, work, and finish your school work, maybe you bought this game just to settle down and relax in front of a computer just to play GW2, as GW2 has no subscription, you have all the time you need to play, just to relax from reality, into the inter-webs, to play GW2. I bet you will find a time to play.
As far as gems, you can use it to get gold to get yourself some armor, or use it for vault storage, in case you are a hoarder in games.
I hope that somewhat answers your question

It seems like i havent got much lately, but for some odd reason, when the update happened, I somehow got 5 rares out of nowhere in my inventory. and drops seem to have reverted to normal, I am a bit confused right now, maybe its just badluck, idk anymore, and I dont expect exotics to drop like candy, as candy doesnt drop out of thin air. I wasn’t really getting any drops at all as far as killing vets. That is all.

PS, the update is the follow by update that happened in after the 2/26/13 update

Reward Updates

#3: “Fixed a bug on certain world boss chests that was causing them to drop fewer rewards than intended. These chests can now only be looted once per day, to encourage players to fight multiple bosses and spread out across the world.”

Does this include Dragon Chests only dropping once per day? It would be quite upsetting if they could only be looted once per day, devaluing the dragons even more. I wouldn’t care if the dragons had a 80% chance of giving a rare out upon doing it, then I don’t care if once a day, but if not, then I expect rares and exotics to skyrocket into price.

I for one will not mind this. I figured they would do something about this soon enough. There are literally people just hanging out 24/7 where the event chain starts for the maw. Yet no one does the other world bosses, outside of Claw. Will be nice to see people working together to make their way around the world to hit ALL the world bosses, instead of just farming the easiest one over and over.

But then again, this would increase the prices of rares and exotics to the extreme. Especially most people get smacked by dr very hard during the dragon events, and even then, people only get blue equipment and 1 crystal or masterwork armor upgrade which sells for 2 silver.

Companies only listen to numbers: Sales, earnings growth, annual revenues, stock prices, etc.

The only way to be listened is to affect these numbers. It can take some time but it will work.

Concerning the numbers published in this thread, they mean nothing. Our own personal experience since the launch of this game is the best parameter to compare with the actual game experience.

Its a personal decision to accept the current state of affairs, to keep complaining or to give up.

I expressed my opinion extensively on the closed thread.

Time is the best equalizer. We will see what happens.

Until then I wish you all a Happy New Year.

I will tell my saying, as it won’t really matter as ANet won’t read this, but here it is.
I’ve been playing this game for roughly 600 hours, only 40 hours being 1-80. Most of the time playing, I was farming for exotics, rares, ect. and all of this farming started in orr, and at frostgorge(Corrupts and Jormag). As I cant help it but to count what i receive. I can give you all the number of rares, BEFORE the November 16th patch to NOW.
Here it is.
When farming at level 80, Before the LS patch, I received about 2982 junk, 893 whites, 622 blues, 339 greens, 193 yellows, 2 exotics(290 hours of open world drops, no chests/map complete).
Now currently, 4892 junk, 486 whites, 225 blues, 140 greens, 72 yellows, and with exotics…Why bother?(remainder of hours left with no chests/map complete)
All the drops i placed was only armors/weapons, no crafting mats or bags.
If I were to add everything from what I had, from chests, dungeons, fractals, it is much greater. But fractals wasn’t there before the LS patch, now was it?
I can’t give anymore concrete data as, that is all I am really able to give out, I have to sit down and think about how much crafting mats I received as drops BEFORE and AFTER the lost shore patch. and I pay attention what I get as drops.

Alright I took the time to think on how much mats I have earned from drops, as well as all chests opened and loot received.

I have earned about 1973 bags(heavy only) 2891 Fine crafting mats, which majority are from Orr(bones, claws, dusts, venoms, and fangs), and some at frostgorge.

As far as Rare crafting mats, I got 50 cores and 192 Lodestones, aswell as 5 skulls.
that is the grand total, but as far as after the update, lets cut all of that in “One Third” and thats my total after the LS update.
As far from the chests, I have opened a total of 282 chests(majority being dragon, some being dungeon and alternate bosses) time to rally up the totals.
BEFORE LS I opened 194 chests. and this is what I got.
220 blues, 40 greens, 83 rares, 1 exotic.
After LS I opened 88 chests and this is what I got.
12 whites(wtf is with that?) 148 blues, 32 greens, 12 rares, 0 exotics.
The chest data is rather raw, and may need some adjustments later on, but the rest is pretty much bloody accurate of what I got of my most solid concrete data, in fact, its like a piece of titanium that has built a house, to me anywho.

That is all I got to say.

Change in loot parameters? [Resurrected]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: sweatycool.9624

sweatycool.9624

I am very concerned about the change in loot parameters since the event patch. It seems to me and I’m not the only one that the quality and frequency of loot in open world events has been turned down substantially.
As an example, I did several champions and a dozen events over a 3 hour period and the best piece of loot I received was a green torch with the vast majority being white junk items and a couple blues. Two of the champions failed to drop any loot at all which is completely opposite of the patch notes;
“The drop rarity of Rare and Exotic weapons from certain places in the world (champions, veterans, and players in WvW) has been increased. Rares and Exotics should be much more likely to drop and every champion should be guaranteed to drop loot. This was to ensure that world loot drops were not a significantly worse way of acquiring rare and exotic items than crafting and running dungeons.”
Perhaps it was an unintentional side effect to the adjustments made regardless this is my main concern;
One of the main reasons for my wife and I gleefully jumped into GW2 was because of the freedom which allowed us to play together and tackle a vast majority of content as a duo. The game offered this on virtually all fronts, from making money, crafting and gearing our characters to leveling together all the while remaining competitive.
The current change in loot distribution either purposely or accidentally seems to force us into having to group to do dungeons in order to accomplish these various goals and goes against the very principle of the game’s design and our play style. If we wanted to be pigeon holed into having to run dungeons to be successful we would have stayed with WoW, Rift or every other MMO out there because that is their core design.
This for the most part even goes directly against the comments made by Chris Whiteside’s latest response to the addition of ascended gear as quoted below;
“Ascended and infusion rewards will be available in both PvE and WvW over time, and be made available through all sorts of content around the world including existing content. As you know we care very much about your support and opinion and are listening intently to what you say.
Finally we look forward to hearing your thoughts on the upcoming content, and we will ensure we share our thoughts with you on the experiences we share in the Lost Shores."
Chris Whiteside – Studio Design Director”
In the end I guess my question really boils down to this;
Is the downgrading in open world loot whether intended or accidental going to be re-adjusted so those of us who prefer open world content either solo duo or in whatever fashion can continue to remain competitive?

This post was replaced of which other, the post with nearly 1600 posts was locked, and ANet needs concrete data? well they have eyes, so they can look back.

from the nights patch, ive noticed an increase of drops (junk, bags, blues, greens, a little bit yellows) but the only thing that seemed decreased was mats. i farmed for 6 hours, got about 4 yellows, which went from abysmal to poor, but 2 charged lodestones is pretty good at malchor’s leap.

How to bring back the heroes into GW2

in Suggestions

Posted by: sweatycool.9624

sweatycool.9624

This is a very cool idea that you have came up with, but it is something huge that Anet has to change into game. There will be a lot of bugs involved with this idea and having a party like that would result a “Single Player Only” mode. If I remember in Gw1, outside of towns was Single Player Only if you had npcs, and gold, loot and exp were split, depending on how much party you have. If we had this option in the open world, it would cause server lag to full servers, or in areas where bots would infest the area.
Areanet would have to make SPM first before they release this. but in SPM you can invite other players with you with his hero and yours.

But bottom line, I like your idea with this, brings a lot of the old uses of gw1 back to gw2, I just don’t think it will be added into the game.

Halloween Event Feedback

in Halloween Event

Posted by: sweatycool.9624

sweatycool.9624

I enjoyed this event a lot. The clock tower, fighting the mad king was all enjoyable, wish i can do more of it :P. There is my own pros and cons to the event, but more pros then there is cons.

pros:
1. The ghosts for a new back piece was great, with the visuals, it matches the CoF armor.
2. The clock Tower was ridiculously fun, but was very hard to complete, it was very well done in terms of its challenges, but it could be fixed up a little to make sure there was little bugs, but reward was good.
3. The halloween brawl is very fun, I enjoyed doing it with my pirate costume and madking outfit(Img. below shows the honor of the madking).
4. Fighting the mad king couldn’t be any better for Halloween, could be done solo or with 5 people, with possible great rewards, no exotics but wish it could of lasted longer.
Cons:
1. Candy Corn nodes were everywhere, It rather replaced a lot of nodes(especially Orichalcum Ore)that were very valuable to mine, it should stay only in Kytra or low leveled areas for next time.
2. There were many bugs, Clock Tower, Fighting Mad King Thorn(or trying to start MKT)had some issues, I was unable to fight him solo or host party due to the event being bugged, and at last, the Lunatic’s Inquisition was a tad-bit buggy.
3.Act 4 was rather short and dull, I was hoping for some super close down event(like what happened in GW2-Beta)for a reward.

Nevertheless, This even was very enjoyable. I hope there will be another great holiday event like this.

P.S. Is there going to be a Thanksgiving event? I have noticed that there are 2 “???” on the monthly Event.

Whenever I go to curse shore, I usually want to go there for the event for Grenth, but I have been realizing that there is a part of the event where the cannon has to be built in order to continue forth to the next events of grenth, but for some reason, either the NCP is missing or the ncp isn’t building the cannon. It is getting to a point when the event breaks, the bots farm there. It is a massive bug where it is somewhat exploitable for fighting constant mobs. But the event itself doesn’t really work unless it somehow fixes itself or the server gets restarted. Either someone is causing this bug to create an exploit or one of the builds broke the script of the event.
