But it gets better. There are 30 effigies on the maps total. You need 50 for the achievement. So not only do you get to experience this awesomely complex and enjoyable content once at 30 locations, but you’re going to do at least 20 of the exact same thing because it’s so much fun and not at all a stupid grind that ANet wanted us to waypoint around the newbie zones twice. So much awesomesauce!
Wait you waypoint? Wow I am too cheap to wp just about anywhere. I use PvP or WvW just to get back to LA so I dont have to spend the silver.
Friendslist is more complicated cause it would mean the real spammers would be able to add you to their friendslist and then spam you anyways.
Not if you don’t add them back?
right, if they have you and you dont have them, they are in your follow list, not in your friends list
Youi suggestion mentioned no limitation to sent to people in your friendslist. implementing a system to check wehter those people also have friended you makes your suggestion more complicated then needed imo. Leave the friendslist out and you have my full support :P
I would be fine with that as well, as it would let me Mail things to my guild without having to worry about hitting the suppression.

Can you change it so when you send a bunch of in game mails to your guild mates or Friends list that you don’t get the message suppressed.
ok so there is a fairly easy fix to your problem, first dont play in a heavy populated zone. If you check the wiki you will see that there are tons of zones that dont get as much traffic.
second this is what my buddy and I did, find a location that has a few fast and easy to reach holo projectors. We found an area that had about 6 projectors that we could circle in about 4min depending on when the holos poped up. The Holo’s from what I can tell have about a 6 – 7 min recharge give or take 2 min. We would start at one holo wait for it to pop, then go to the next and so on. Most the time we were able to hit 4 holo’s each run. Then we would run back to the start and do it all again. Doing that I was able to almost finish my holo kills in less than 3 hours. I also was able to get a full stack of taffy I need and more than enough dragon coffers that I started selling them to make a little extra profit.
I know in HoD Snowdens Drift and Lornar’s Pass is almost always empty. just find an empy zone, here is a tip dont waypoint. run to them, you will save a ton of money.
Just asking, I won my first moa race but didn’t get any achievement contribution. Am I the only one? :<
If you bet on the Mystery moa that one doesn’t seem to give credit for whatever reason.
Well that sucks, the one win I did get was with the mystery Moa
Well you see the hidden Inquest base uses the Troll stones to control the cloned trolls. Asuran can make just about anything, so a mystic stone that controls trolls isnt that far out.
So I have a crazy theory as of why we get a champ cave troll in Queensdale so often. I believe there is a secret passage some where in the cave where there is an Inquest base doing cloning experiments or something on Trolls. The Troll stone is a way to control the Trolls. It is the only way to explain why we have a champ troll every 5 to 10 minutes.
Name: Lindsay Knightley
Profession: Elemental
Trait: Staff, glass cannon
Gear: All Exotic
Path: have only completed P3
Experience: I have completed just about every other dungeon in the game. I am no stranger to dungeon running or PUGs.
We have a <50 player guild. We are healthily at 30-40 accounts, and about 20 people on throughout a day for influence call, but only maybe 8 people online at a time on average.
We even have a small group of allies that we call on to help with the guild bounty.
We don’t even consider trying to do a Bounty without 10 people on, and even then, not all people are 80 nor have all the waypoints.
Even with 3 groups, we barely have enough strength to find the first bounty, let alone the second, and if we find them, kill them fast enough for people to run to the other zone and find them again. Different people have different computers, so they can just waypoint and waypoint without long loading screens.
Luckily, our guild is tight enough to not care that we fail, but it doesn’t help the guild feel like we will ever progress to unlock all missions. And to say “you dont need number, you need communication” is kind of offensive. So… we aren’t good enough… thanks!
And to give Guild Bounty Training for influence but no rewards… that doesn’t make us any better at the 2 targets in 15 minutes. Even if we find the bounties, we have to make sure everybody is there to help out and get credit.
We don’t need the devs to get defensive about their design… we are asking for help from a smaller guild sake. Otherwise, without 100+ people on the roster, we just have to accept our defeat and not care about guild missions at all.
I kinda have to agree with you. Our guild there we have about 66+ people, only about 8 – 10 are on at a given time, and only about 4 or 5 of them are available to run a guild mission.
We haven’t hit Guild bounties yet, we are still trying to unlock it, but we do have Guild Bounty Training. The first one we fail, but just barely. we ran out of time, but we did capture the boss before he escaped. The second one we did we were able to find the boss faster and get to him, but even with 8 level 80’s we still barely beat the boss before the time ran out.
So when we run the full guild bounties, its going to be hard to fight 2 or more bounties with just 8 – 10 people. If it took 8 of us to take down one champion. These guys have more health and do more damage than a legendary in dungeons.
I was switching characters, then got kicked, now I cant seem to even log back into the game. It seems that the login server has crashed or something.
edit/update: just got back in
Mist form is the only good thing in the ele downed state, but even then its not that great. If you are crippled or pinned mist form is worthless or very slow. You can also watch the person in mist form and follow them its not like they are invisible.
If an ele is trolling you near a gate and using mist to get back in he is either bored, trolling , or trying to lure you in so his buddies can get a good hit on you.
Most the time in WvW if I go down with my ele, I am dead, the enemy just follows my mist and kills me when I go down again. If I am lucky and a teammate sees this and helps me I might be able to survive but 90% of the time, when I go down in WvW I die.
The same thing happens in PVE if an ele goes down fighting something, mist form only increases the odds of survival about 50%, half the time the mob will reengage when mist form is over.
I have issues getting the daily healer most the time. It takes way more than 10 revives to get the achievement. I have tried doing just humans and just npc to try and figure it out but it doesn’t help.
Most the time now I just go to the Bloodfields, north of Nebo Terrace and raise the npc there, usually I have to rez about 15 – 20 of them just for the achievement to work.
None of the other dailys seem to be bugged for me except for daily healer, as it seems I need much more than 10 rez to get the achievement.
Dont change the dailies, they dont take much time once you know where to go.
If it takes more than an hour to do your dailies then you are doing something wrong. Usally the hardest part of the daily is trying to find the events you need. But even that is not hard, one quick run in Queensdale and I can have all the events done in 20 min, or if I am lucky and the Claw of jormag is just starting its pre-event I can get all the events on the Claw of Jormag. The Daily Vet kill isnt hard to get once you find a good spot (Greatheart Weald, Queensdale). I normally start in the village of shaemore, and head west to the Orchard, then south though the bandit caves, then south west, pick up the event to save the farm (it spawns a lot), pick up the champ troll, collect grubs, kill the vet fish in the lake, Save the honey from the bears, then into claypool to sell vender trash. By this time I normally have most of the daily done. All this normally takes me about 20 – 30 min and I play a squishy elemental.
If there was a system similar to Guild Wars 1 when they introduced the looking for group system in that it would be great. Plus with guesting coming soon you could then advertise across servers and you could group up with people that way.
It happens all the time for me.
about every 1 in 20 I actually get the graphic for the whirlpool.
Sorry to bring back an old thread but,
I run a glass cannon as my main. Its fun, I do everything with it.
In dungeons I tend to stay near the rear of the group and dodge a lot when I start to get targeted. I dont die any more than the rest of the group. Some times I go down more often but with mist form I am usually able to get either far enough away from combat for someone to help me back up or far enough away that I can bring myself back without a problem.
In dungeons I run the elementals to help tank (earth), semi heal (water), or damage/distraction (fire). They tend to help a ton. In CoF on Path 1 after the rolling fireballs where you have to lower the gate. In all the times I have run it, I can destroy the controller and free up everyone else faster then just about anyone. Of course my the time the gate is open I have used my heal cast both elementals to keep the mini boss at bay and have cast every large nuke that I have at the controller. But once the gate opens I run back towards the group and they help pull the guy off me.
Is the glass cannon build good, I can say its not for everyone, you do a ton of damage but you cant really take much of a hit. But for me it keeps me on my toes. I also tend to switch up attunements a lot. I mainly run fire, but I switch to water to help heal when the group is taking a pounding or earth if I am trying to tag and hold a boss still for the group to hit it.
my build is 30/0/10/20/10
the 10 extra points in water is mainly for the little extra health and the small bonus I get when my health is above 90% trait. It also helps a bit in dungeons when I need to act as healer. Although its not my best role, healing does in fact help and has kept a group alive long enough to finish the boss fight.
The boss isnt that bad, sure it can take awhile but it isnt bad.
We had a group of ranger, warrior, 2 mesmers, and an elemental. I was the elemental.
Our ranger just didnt have the dps we wanted to quickly take down the boss so the mesmers started thinking that if they could get a portal down there we would have an easy escape route or an easy way down. That is what we started doing. Drop the shield everyone runs down, mesmer pops a portal for a quick exit. Hit the boss with as much as you dare and portal out. If you miss the portal you have to find the stairs fast if you end up in the lava.
There were a few times I was glad that elemental’s can use the portals in mist form when they are down. It really saved me a few times when I got knocked off the platforms on my ways down. ( I wasnt paying attention to the pastern of the knock off blasts)
Thank you for fixing Jormag.
I can now find wall when I target it, instead of clicking all around or relaying on the auto target.
It also seems the wall goes down a little faster, there seems be more mobs around during the wall, but I will take that if the wall goes down faster.
The only problem with TA is the three Knights that accompany Leurent.
If it wasn’t for pulling them separately it would just be a mad race to kill one, then hope someone in your groups survives, or failing that, have your whole team run back there.
Worst part is that pulling was obviously not intended seeing as they often break away and regenerate health. I can’t for the life of me understand what the reasoning was behind these mobs. Difficulty is fine, but when it is so completely out of tune with the rest of the dungeon, it just becomes laughable.
In one group I did TA with we had 2 elemental, 2 necros, and a Guardian. Most of these guys were experienced TA runners and I was one of the Elementals which has only run TA in story. We had so much AOE damage that we just killed everything in our path. When we hit the 3 Knights we took out all 3 at the same time. We had actually killed them before we realized we had 3 knights. Once it was over we were like OMG did we just take out 3 knights at once. That is awesome.
The JP isnt really that hard once you figure it out. I dont understand how you can have camera angle problems on a game where it is so easy to change the camera angle. Just hold right mouse button down and look you can move free move the camera, and still run. When you are in mid air during a jump you have more than enough time to move the camera and get lined up for the next jump. There is also great mid air corrections if it looks like you may not make a jump, hit the strife button and see if you can catch the edge of the platform. That alone has saved me many times on the JP. Also on two of the 3 paths there are easy shortcuts on the snowflakes that will help your time out if you are running behind.
The Bells I hated at first because I was so bad at them. But I wanted the achievement so I started doing them and soon figured them out and they are fun. They dont give me the rewards that I can get on the JP but they are still fun. Im still not good at the bells, as its not really my type of game, but they are still fun.
The Snowball PvP fight is fun, the little I did of it. I still need to do more, but the little I played it was fun.
Tixx dungeon is fun. I only really run it once, unless I guildie needs help then I will run it multiple times. Also with the right group it is possible to 3 or maybe even 2 man the dungeons. My guild also 2 maned it last night but called in reinforcement near the end cause they couldnt get the dps needed to keep the village clear, so we 4 maned it instead.
Of all the MMOs I have played Anet has some of the best Christmas events around, and the guild wars team ranks at the top of those events.
Love the Jumping puzzle. Took me about 20+ min to beat it.
But I kept playing for over 4 hours cause I was having so much fun.
A friend and I would race to the end and see who could be the first to get to the steps of presents.
I find the wintersday jumping puzzle really fun.
Took me about 20-30min to beat it the first time. I have now been doing it over and over again for the last 4 hours. I am also in an overflow server that is now empty. Which is fun.
I agree there needs to be a way to do the event without a ton of people. I did it twice tonight and failed both times. The first time we just got past the giant, got him killed off, and there was nothing left to kill. No risen or anything that we could find, so we let the time run down, next thing we know we fail the event. There were maybe around 10 of us by that time. So we head back and start calling in people who are free around the zone and try to get more people to help push.
We finally get to start the event again (there is around 15 – 20 of us now), Kill the Giant, find the one or two guys hiding that let us continue on to the second part. We start clearing the area, after a few minutes in I realize that these guys don’t stop spawning in random areas. So I figure if we kill the eye maybe they will stop spawning. So a small group focuses on the eye just in case this may help. The rest of the group is trying to keep the zone clear and for the most part its working. We get it to about 60% full and we kill off the eye with about 3 minutes remaining. but the zone is still contested. All of a sudden a huge rush of guys come in and a large spawn as well. We spend the rest of the time trying to clear it to no avail.
I am on HoD we dont have the population anymore to do a large run to arah. At most there is maybe 20 – 30 people in the zone total, and some of them may not want or be able to get to the event.
Please look at the event, if a group of 10 – 15 people cant make a push to Arah then there is something wrong with the dynamic event system in that area. But this seems like it is more of a chance if you can beat it than actually getting it. Shoot clearing the Temple of Melandru was harder than these events, but also easier because there wasn’t a constant spawn that made us FAIL.
I agree a party merge would be a great option.
It would be really nice for dungeons
YES I agree Guild Wars 2 needs a better way to find parties.
Something like what was in GW1 would work awesome for Dungeons.
you can find a group with ease then.
I was just helping a friend on Munition Acquisition and at the start where you meet Tonn it wont complete that part. you can talk to Tonn but it wont cut scene or continue on. We pushed on anyway just to see if it would force it to work and the rest of the quest worked but he still cant complete the quest because he still cant talk to Tonn.
I got the sound bug as well playing WvW not 10 minutes ago. My game hasnt crashed due to it but it is annoying. My only fix is to have the game change audio device which then cuts out all audio from the game. Though if I change back to my sound card i get the annoying sound.
It only happens in WvW when there is a large battle around. It almost seems like the sound buffer is getting over loaded and crashing. I have tried different sound setting and nothing has seemed to work yet.
Getting disconnected from the server since patch.

yeah I keep getting disconnected too
edit: this keeps happening about every 5 – 15min
Also it seems the forums go down about the same time, or at least I cant connect to them when I get disconnected from the game.
(edited by tweeve.3782)
yeah its bugged on Henge of Denravi too, I happened to find it, but when I was helping a guild member it hasnt shown up
Over the weekend after the monthly achievements reset a friend and I decided to get the experience achievement out of the way. So Sunday night we did all 100,000 XP. Now when I look at the October achievements where the experience area is, all it says is “???”
This has also happened to my friend as well.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a way to fix it?
