normaly the sword in the middle forms the “p” in “super” but it is absent from the equipable weapon skin.

sooo… this post has been up awhile… any date we can expect to see an option to disable right click targeting? or shall i continue to increase my skill at using the mouse during combat as little as possible?… please for the love of god fix this annoying feature… i went back to gw1 to farm my last title for gwamm and while i was frustrated at not being able to dodge or swap, i loved that my targeting was not impaired by my camera angle controls. please please please i cannot believe that noone at anet has not noticed this.

this is probably my only big peeve with this game right now. not just because the function is so disruptive but it’s taking so long to address it. the obvious solution is to make an option like double-tap to evade. however, i have found that once i was aware of this function i started becoming more conscious of my mouse position and even started learning to use right click as a faster way to attack new targets (as opposed to left clicking then pressing 1 or tabbing till i get to that target). i could see how it might work if it didn’t interfere with camera adjustments, but in its present state right-click targeting is more annoying than helpful. so try actually using the right click for all the things it does that you don’t want it to. it may ease your suffering until we get our fix.

Smash The Town Isn't Bugged

in Wintersday

Posted by: wolfram.8291

wolfram.8291

This was my hunch exactly. I completed the dungeon with a group and then went for the achievement after grabbing the chest. The group dispersed and at least 2 went offline while still in the party. Spent over an hour and a half looking for the last destructible to no avail, doing clean sweeps of the area with cyclone axe, following the tips for most hidden objects in this thread.

Figured it had to be bugged due to the players that left so I exited and re-entered solo, went straight for the smash achieve and got it in around 10 minutes.

After the chest my group left and I spent plenty of time patiently and methodically back-tracking double checking everything. I did this after two separate runs. Then I went in by myself and in one circle of the map I got the achievement. Zero searching for missed objects. It’s easy to scoff at people and dismiss it as their fault because you got it easy in one try, but I’m pretty sure there’s actually a bug here somewhere.

i too found them too difficult for my liking after trampling the spawns on the first day. i think part of what causes this distress is we come across them in open world where most people are used to running around smashing everything, and suddenly your faced with a situation more akin to a dungeon fight. i don’t really mind though because it’s an incentive to play with other people… something i admit i haven’t done much lately in open world aside from the occasional event zerg.

Forcing right click targeting is a bad idea

oh, and a similar problem i have is clicking the interact prompt when i don’t want to, again bringing up a dialog box when i don’t want it. this happens very rarely, only when i’m trying to target something that happens to be in the same place on my screen as the prompt. i’d still want to see the prompt to know when i can interact with objects, but maybe have an option to disable clicking to interact or the ability to change the interface and move the prompt location where i’m less likely to click it accidentally.

Forcing right click targeting is a bad idea

in Suggestions

wolfram.8291

i was just about to post this exact same suggestion for the exact same reasons. not only does right click select whatever target your mouse is over, but it will engage auto-attack even with the “stop autoattack on target change” option selected. this means when you’re simply moving your camera around (which hides the cursor making it difficult to know if it will reappear over a targetable object) can potentially engage you with a target you don’t want to be engaged with. running between locations while not in combat can be disrupted by this function because you’ll suddenly start attacking a nearby target putting you in combat movement speed. similarly while fighting it can make you start attacking a target you don’t intend to, even start launching attacks at friendly targets (potentially wasting an elite or a burst) or prompting the interact function if you’re close enough, bringing up a dialog box during combat.

Resurrector specialization

All professions have their fair share of support skills. Guardian is the obvious choice, but water ele isn’t a bad idea either. If you’re having trouble because of lag, you could try ranger spirits and just hang out in the back with a longbow. Rangers have two rezes with “spirit of nature” (elite) and “search and rescue” (utility skill). Combined with two other spirits and the traits that make them trigger more often and move around with you provides good support.

GW2 "endgame" model is fine. Execution doesn't make sense tho, problem and solution.

2a i think the anti-farm code was implempted for bots etc. not meant to punish us. i agree a different system is needed here. except for dungeons and karma as those are acccount bound and bots can’t profit off the rewards… at least according to the philosiphy of anet i think.

2b i agree here, lvl 80 toons should be rewarded better for participating in lower lvl zone. karma for helping the “weak” makes moral sense to me. if karma is implemented as an account bound currency this will again deter bots. (not trying to focus on bots just making anecdotes) – furthermore, in order for karma rewards to be an effective incentive for anything they need better rewards. that’s another discussion though.

3a basically the suggestion i offered in 2b but more creative/effective suggestions are welcome

3b with the new dungeon system you can get a full dungeon set in less than 2 weeks at less than 2 hours a day with good teams. imo 1 month for unique gear is a liberal allowance for cosmetics. rather i’d see different skins for different temple/karma exotic armor for more incentive to do event chains in orr

“cosmetic items are… irrelevant.” hmmm i kinda agree, i’d like cooler skins but it gets to subjective there.

reverse over flow servers…. now that’s an interesting idea. i prolly didn’t interpret that the way you mean, but if overflows were somehow global that would make things interesting. more people in lowER lvl zones is my thinking

i was gona post a “fanboy” message but seeing how the op has stayed on topic and engaged in constructive dialog i’ll do my best to do the same.

“standing out through skill is something that requires a tremendous time commitment and coordination with other players. i simply do not want to invest that time.”

well, that pretty much rules out pvp as a source of endgame for you. in wvw you can progress in gear/traits/skills but only up to lvl 80 exotic. after that all your progression is through community ie building guilds/alliances/coordinating supply/siege deployment. i agree with spectacular yak in regars to spvp being a level playing field, but with a little less zeal – which has unfortunately snowballed out of civility. so for pvp endgame all i can advise is to try opening yourself to a new perspective of lvling your skill individually and as a team player instead of gear progression.

“something i would like to see would be real world pvp where different guild vie for non-instanced fortifications around the world”

i love this idea, but anet would never do it… unless they made it like factions in gw1 so guilds could claim locations similar to wvw using some currency (influence prolly) so it wouldn’t create progression dis/advantage in pve. i’m gona see the future now and say this is an expansion.

“while i do agree that a shift from destination to journey is a positive for mmos, i do not believe gw2 has done that quite yet and as a result the game does require end game content”

i almost agree with this. by definition END game content implies the journey is over and you’re now just doing something you find fun. so i challenge you to find what was fun for you in the journey and try to replicate it. you’ll likely find that doing things where you don’t know what you’re doing is the answer. many rewards scale to your level so you don’t have to worry about going back to lower lvl zones. have you done all the meta event chains in every zone? or every path of every dungeon? or every jumping puzzle? if not i challenge you to do them… with a party of people who haven’t done them… without looking up a guide to find them… without a youtube video on how to do them. now i realize eventually you’ll have experiance everything by this point, but unless you play 24/7 this will not be an easy challenge. bonus points for every event/dungeon/jumping puzzle etc you do with a group of strangers.

meh, we don’t need to convince one player to enjoy the game. if he doesn’t enjoy playing a video game, he doesn’t enjoy it. why do i feel this way? i like going back and just exploring, doing stuff i didn’t do on my way to lvl 80 the first time, ie jumping puzzles, dynamic events. and when i get tired of something i ask my friends what they’re doing and enjoy participating in their experience even if i’ve done it before blah blah we could all go on describing how to enjoy a game but if your not interested in having fun why bother with a disgruntled ungrateful brat. /chuckle
