If fantasy becomes reality, a majority 90% of us turns into women
In my opinion the close to being balanced way of implementing stealth was how warhammer online accomplish by:
1. 30s CD of 2s of uninterruptable cast time to enter stealth and stays in stealth and deplete initiative over time unless player cancel stealth or ran out of initiative.
2. For the out of stealth moment, the thief should be given a skill to disarm the enemies for 3 to 5 seconds just before the attack connects. Off course this disarm skill should be given a short CD as well
3. A new uncleansable condition opener that works like torment on the target so target can see they have been “opened” on but gets to decide to fight without moving as much as possible or take the damage if they move or run too much.
The only problem I have with thief is the number of options they get to reset a fight with Shadow Refuge. The general advice is to aoe the stealth ring but a seasoned thief knows to save a dodge or 2 while inside the stealth ring or they fake a refuge stealth and shadowstep somewhere else and it gets worse if the thief is equipped with their stealth utility or being d/p.
Don’t think its an ISP issue, i got this since 4 patches ago. Tried everything from repairing, reinstalling, reformatting pc (built for GW2 ONLY), bought a new router as suggested, turn off all firewall, antivirus just to stay playing. Still getting random blackscreen dc with background music playing and dc on loading screen. Now I just log on for dailies.
Ya. Its terrible today, 6 random dc and lag spikes all over wvw

CD is too long and I need more condi clear on utilities.
Having tried a pure Celestial Mesmer in wvw. It does well but not GREAT, its better suited for prolonged fight due to great survival-ability but don’t think about killing other professions fast unless you severely outplay them.
Just make our elite a Weapon Summon depending on our attunement. Frost Bow when in Water, etc etc.
Can’t really stop the meteor from falling when then the ele moves at half cast coz u know… gravity is still acting on them.
I’m not a pro by any means but having played all professions for roughly equal amount of time, celestial ele alone is not OP. They become too good when they are allowed to use runes of strength. A full celestial ele from head to toe on a 0/2/0/6/6 build gets around 1500 power, its as strong as wet noodle. The problem is when might duration gets so high that they are able to stack to 25 stacks and the extra power stats that comes along with the runes, thats when ele get to have their cake and eat them too. You don’t see ppl crying over celestial ele with say traveler runes coz the might stacks gets to around 13 to 15 in an average fight (not focusing on might stacking while dodging stuff n killing).
Engineer on the other hand can get to around 1860 power and 800+ condi on a 4/0/4/4/2 build with full celestial alone, while not a common build with no other buffs or armor n trinket slots. Their attacks are slightly slower.
Just need a slight readjustment to runes of strength to either lower the power stats or decrease the might duration.
It is most definitely viable. I have full celestial at the moment for wvw but I cannot live without 25% speed movement so I’m not using rune of strength or hoelbrak. Without these runes to add power I hit like a wet noodle until the might starts stacking. Therefore I had started swapping out all the celestial gears for a tankier build with combo of soldier, knight and cavalier for 1.9k power, 2.7k armor and 17k hp. It disregards condi and heal stats so I do not know how well it will play out.
Most definitely get your hands on the logitech G600 or similar mouse with 12 buttons for your thumbs if you play an engineer, if not for entering numbers super fast when using window’s Calculator app.
You can play ok to pretty good at 200ms but competitive level borderline viable to no. Allow me to explain my experience, I went from 400 ms to around 200ms.
What got better:
1. Shadowstep back n forth is nearly instantaneous, used to be have to wait a split second to press second time to teleport back.
2. Chaining shadowstep to sword #2 becomes easier
3. Basically any teleporting skills and chaining skills becomes easier
What issue remains
1. Chaining weapon swap follow by skills or vice versa is still unreliable
2. Still have to launch a skill ahead of time although a lot better compared to 400ms
3. Shadowstab>>sheath weapon to backstab remains unreliable to pull off
4. Blackpower>HS stealth doesn’t complete as fast so it become a liability sometimes to run d/p.
I have all professions at 80 so the latency hurts all of them in some ways but it hurts the thief the most because thief’s gameplay is twitch play
Tested. Say if you get hit by 6 stacks of bleeding, now you get 5 stacks of bleed and one boon. Kinda lackluster.
Weird issue encountered by a few Ferguson Crossing players when trying to go into our own borderland. This is the first time playing that I had to queue for roughly 20 minutes when there was only roughly 10+ in our borderlands.
What really annoys me is the AC parked close to the wall and still be able to place a full aoe circle on top.
I know this is lame but I’m gonna say it, I want katana skins, ninjato skins, kunai skins, wolverine claws skins and I want a Mai Shiranui “Fan”
It’s possible, as other have said, to stealth again if the thief didn’t attack from stealth.
This is not normal. I have experienced this too, a group of 5 chasing the thief while he took out a mesmer and my thief while spamming emotes. After checking combat log, we noticed he was also immune to all the aoe by the mesmer.
We have no abilities that make us immune to any damage, except for blind. So either the Mesmer were blinded or he missed all the attacks. There’s simply no possible way for the thief to be immune to any damage. So this particular event sounds like a hacker…
Yup we were 99% sure he was a hacker.
The fact that windows doesn’t take more than 10 seconds to load up is worth it
Please don’t touch shadowstep, its fine. Last thing thief profession needs is shadowstep becoming a complaint and subsequently overnerfed.

While I’m not great at thief, I would say it is still worthwhile to make one because it will make you a better player when playing any other class. The issues i do not like about the thief is,
1) you have very limited utilities to equip in order to survive in wvw
2) 90% of all thief builds except condition build requires traiting into critical strikes to actually do decent damage. I personally would like to run something like 0/0/30/20/20 for direct damage build but after testing with 4 sets of different armors and jewelry combinations, the damage and surprisingly lower HP (not what I expected from being defensive traited).
Just my 2cents
Stealth is too good, no other profession can drop “target” like the thief except maybe the mesmer. Although I am not good at thief yet but i really love how great thieves are able to maximize stealth potential even though they serve me my butt on a diamond platter.
1) Is it OP?
No, I don’t think so
2) Is it one of the better profession?
Hell yes
3) Why?
Coz I’m only worried when I’m fighting a thief, mesmer or necro
4) Mesmer are like thief, very annoying to fight for the average player to fight because they are the only 2 classes that can drop target on demand. So if you are a “clicker”, it actually pays off because you are very good at spotting and clicking on the real mesmer flying all over the screen.
Just a fyi, the invader has better stats than the sentinel gear.
Remove Steal. I just want Shadowstep and Shadow Refuge as baseline skills, now i can actually play a venom build without losing tons of mobility.
