Scepter/Dagger key combinations for stacking might.
F2—> 2—> F1—> 4—> 2—> 3—> F4—> 4
Then you can burst down your enemy.
F3—> 2—> 3—> 4—> 5
Afterwards your fire attunement should be off cooldown and you can stack some more might.
As others have said, I don’t think removing the trinity is what caused a more simplistic encounter style. I think that’s pretty squarely on the designers who make the encounters themselves. Heck, they could put specific parameters on encounters as they are to enforce a pseudo trinity system for an individual encounter if they really wanted. The problem is that the encounters to this point have largely been designed to accomodate and accentuate nothing but DPS.
As someone who spends a lot of time soloing, though, the less class/role specific design definitely makes my experience better. No more playing a tanky class and struggling to kill standard enemies in less than 10 minutes because that’s just not what my class is designed to do.
Bolded for emphasis. I think that the gauntlet bosses showed that the devs are moving in the right direction, they just need time to work. They are revamping world bosses, have 3 new fractals in development, and have raids on the radar. Don’t just sit there and wait for them to arrive, but don’t forget that they are coming and hopefully will bring more engaging fights.
A few of the more interesting boss fights like the Iron Forgeman in SE story, the fight against Zhaitan’s champions in Arah story, and the Ice Elemental/Golem fight at the end of the Dredge fractal all present team-based elements outside of straight DPS. The problem is that they are rarely if ever experienced by the vast majority of the player base so we have people assuming that fights are simple dodge and damage encounters.
I’m glad you realize that there are in fact Ascended weapons with carrion stats. That would make your title misleading at best and inaccurate at worst. As for adding trinkets, there’s no reason why they won’t at some point. It’s probably not very high on their list of priorities.
So contrary to what they initially claimed (that Ascended was planned all along), Colin specifically states in that interview that Exotic WAS supposed to be final tier and Ascended was added because they underestimated how quickly people would get Exotic.
Ignoring the fact that people like being able to get max stat gear quickly so they then only have to worry about aesthetics, here we have proven that ArenaNet did outright LIE back in November, and that Ascended WASN’T planned prior to release.
Maybe I was out of the loop, but shouldn’t it have been obvious to everyone they were being quite shady when they announced the bump to legendary stats to make room for ascended?
They had an option of not introducing any more ascended items to the game and leave it at trinkets.
Once you start something there’s the expectation that you see it to completion. You may not agree with what they did initially but you have to give them props for sticking to their guns.
I’ll just give you an example to help you understand what I mean. You’re in a boxing match and you’re beating your opponent to a bloody pulp. You expect that to knock your opponent out at any moment but he just refuses to give up despite taking a heavy beating from you. He’s all bloody and bruised but he’s still determined to win.
I’m not exactly saying you’re a big bully but it’s hard not to cheer for the underdog sometimes.
They’re essentially turning Tequatl into a massive open world raid boss. I don’t know if it’s too little too late since any hardcore raiders would have moved on already.
Waht do you mean by massive open world raid boss?
It would require 80+ players that are highly coordinated unlike his current iteration where you don’t need much in terms of coordination. It will be closer to what a traditional instanced raid boss would be except that it will be in the open world. If we look back far enough, open world raid bosses were actually the rule rather than the exception. WoW kind of turned that around where instanced raid bosses were the rule and open world raid bosses the exception.
They’re essentially turning Tequatl into a massive open world raid boss. I don’t know if it’s too little too late since any hardcore raiders would have moved on already.
It’s not free if other players are paying for it. Why is that such a difficult concept for people to grasp?
If you personally aren’t paying for it then as far as you’re concerned it’s free. If someone invites you over for dinner then you got yourself a free meal. The concept is flawed so it’s not that they can’t grasp it, it’s that they won’t accept it.
The worst part for me if the fact they basically scrapped any ways of earning karma, but oh wait you still need upwards of 1mill karma to get your obby shards for your legendary… I mean what am I going to do now?! I am stuck farming for the next 6 months because hell getting even 20k karma is impossible
Maybe it’s just my own personal experience but I keep getting so much karma I don’t even know how to get rid of it. I think a lot of players have over a million karma just sitting there. ArenaNet created karma dumps so that people with too much karma would have something to spend it on. Maybe there are people out there with very little karma for some reason but these karma dumps weren’t meant for them.
Moreover, you shouldn’t have to farm for karma because it should all just come naturally as you play the game. I got my gift of mastery using 250 obsidian shards, bought about 200 more, and still have plenty of karma to spare. I don’t recall trying to farm karma even once. For that matter, I don’t even farm. I just do whatever is available at the moment, be it the Queen’s Gauntlet or Scarlet’s Invasions for achievements.
Maybe you should change your title. Because what you’re saying clearly contradicts your title and it’s not a very effective way of getting your message out.
In the next update the same philosophy will apply to the karka queen, who will get a bump to her rewards as well given her difficulty; her base line player number is much lower than 80.
Yet I’ve not seen any southsun event completed since the LS that involved that one. People already don’t like doing it now, why should they want to do it in the future when it’s even more annoying?
Since they haven’t released all of the info on the loot for the revamped world bosses I think we can assume that they’ve learned their lesson. What we do know is that Tequatl will drop a skin that you can’t get anywhere else. We don’t know how many prestige chasers are out there but if you can get 80 people, all with a common goal, together through the LFG tool then it might not seem like such a problem.
Right now no one does the Karka Queen because those who do want to do it have no real way of getting in touch with others who are thinking the same thing. The LFG tool could make all the difference.
Extra bonus info: The highest chance of having a rare chance ascended weapon for you is on Tequatl’s daily bonus chest if you defeat him: game on.
Ah yes, here it is. If the biggest chance for ascended weapon is rare (and we know that here it means usually less than one percent, based on all the rare and better than rare drops from rng boxes), we can just forget about it.
Considering that there will be 80 or more players fighting Tequatl, even a 1% chance is pretty high. You might not get an Ascended weapon but someone probably will.
What number would be satisfactory to you?
For an one-per-day chance in an event i’m highly likely to fail? A % chance in double digits. If the event turns out to be really hard, in high double digits.
Yeah, the one thing we need is for Ascended weapons to drop like candy. The only thing you should be guaranteed or have a high chance of getting is an exotic, some rares, and the tier 7 materials that were promised.
If anything, you should use this quote instead.
“Please understand that we see the community as a ‘whole’ and therefore are not intending to design again for one specific type of player over another. This is a misconception and one that is not promoted by the team. We will continue to develop the game for the community as a whole, offering gameplay that caters to lots of different types of players in a unified approach that will evolve over time based on feedback and the direction the team as a whole wants to take.
Then ask yourself. Was Ascended gear designed for the “whole” community, or just a portion of it? And remember when they said (regarding the Queen’s Gauntlets) “We only expect a small percentage of players to complete this content”? Does that sound like they are making content for the “whole” community, or just a small portion of it? Even look at SAB. Was that designed with the “whole” community in mind, or just a portion of them?
This quote, you can clearly use instead. Because it is a blatant lie. They are not designing content for the whole community. They are designing content for just specific groups instead.
It depends on how you interpret the quote. You can’t realistically create content that caters to everyone because different people have different preferences. They’ll create one set of content that caters to a specific group of players, another set for another group, and so on. You don’t like jumping puzzles? There are dungeons, dynamic events, PvP, and WvW. You don’t like dynamic events? There’s world exploration, and crafting. Making a lot of things that cater to different people is what they’ve been doing.
Maybe you should explain how time-gating a new tier of weapons and gear would make them “so rare that other players can’t realistically acquire it.”
Have you looked at the requirements? Its a lot…
And now that tequatl has had a much needed revamp, finishing an event such as Teq will be very difficult. Even to muster 80 people, which is what is the average number of people needed. So to get ascended weapons and mats from events such as this will be a bit time consuming.
I have no doubt that it’s going to take a while to craft an Ascended weapon. Even if difficult events was your only source of tier 7 materials, which I doubt, you would still be able to get an Ascended weapon more easily than a legendary. So basically it doesn’t explain how Ascended items are so rare and unrealistic to obtain. It may take some people longer than others no doubt.
Maybe you should explain how time-gating a new tier of weapons and gear would make them “so rare that other players can’t realistically acquire it.” I was pretty sure he was talking about legendary weapons when he wrote all that. Ascended gear will probably still be a lot easier to acquire than legendaries.
Now Anet, please make our material storage bigger =_=
Ok, this is a serious question.
Is your body ready?
The reason they can’t go into specifics about whether they plan on developing an expansion or not isn’t because they just want to dodge the subject. It’s because they themselves haven’t really decided on whether they want to go ahead with creating one yet. There are still a lot of factors to consider like:
- Whether the level cap will be raised
- Whether crafting will go above 500
- What zones should be added and what level they would be
- What races if any should be added
- What professions if any should be added
They’re probably waiting to the release the game in China before they proceed with any big decisions. The thing with expansions is that they become the center of attention. I’m talking about other MMORPGs of course. All content updates will be exclusive to those expansions so if you haven’t purchased them you’ll be missing out. Factions and Nightfall were actually stand-alone games so you can’t really bring that into the argument.
There would be absolutely nothing legendary about it if you could get a precursor for 200g, and if it was readily accountbound for all characters.
There was a time when you actually could get a precursor for 200g. There are other skins that help players stand out that don’t involve going the legendary route. With Ascended weapons coming into play it’s likely that players will just go with those instead. So you don’t really have to worry about legendaries becoming too common.
Failing the fight will spawn a whole bunch of exploding fish in the area and I believe the waypoint will stay contested. They can’t exactly close off the entire zone because then players who are doing their own thing like leveling their characters won’t have access to it. I don’t know how they can possibly punish the player for failing. I mean, when you die you already get your armor damaged and you have to pay to take a waypoint.
Oh and if they punish the player by spawning a whole bunch of champion risen in the area, I think certain players will think of that as a reward and actually fail on purpose just to make it happen.
Teq will become the new Temple of Grenth.
The Temple of Grenth might actually see more action with the next patch. Tequatl, if it’s hard enough might eventually become the Karka Queen. People do like difficult and challenging content. People will be hitting Tequatl every chance they get in the beginning but after some time they will get bored and move on. Unless there’s clear incentive to repeatedly fight Tequatl I doubt people will want to fight him just for the heck of it.
Number 2 kind of assumes that the players are right about something. You remember the most recent update made in response to player feedback right? Having a stronger focus on large dynamic events and giving champions better loot has created a scenario where players will farm champions to the exclusion of everything else. Even worse is that they will focus on farming champions even if causes an event, in which they were perfectly capable of completing, to fail.
I think they should listen to players but that doesn’t mean they absolutely have to implement what players suggest. Not all suggestions are good suggestions and some that may seem good initially might be bad for the game in the long run. They should carefully analyze the feedback and try to see envision what issues might result from implementing them before actually doing so.
Champion loot was extremely needed and the results are promising (even according to Anet). The thing is, you can’t take one version of implementation and say that it’s the only way. For example, they could have not let all Champions drop the boxes (like ones that spawn by the dozens all the time) or they could have put an internal timer on how often a box of a certain type can drop (i.e. Gear Boxes can only be acquired one per account every ~15/20 minutes or something). That way there is still incentive do go out and kill these enemies with other players, but the mass farming potential would be greatly crippled. That being said, Anet did this on purpose. They wanted the market flooded with mats to soften the blow of the coming update.
Champions needed better loot. That much I won’t argue against. However, ArenaNet probably didn’t realize the potential for abuse or the unintended consequences of this change. The champion loot, which needed to be improved in order to give players incentive to fight them, was simply too good. What I mean is, people have no reason to do other activities because they weren’t as rewarding at this point. If the champions didn’t drop skill points then there would be more incentive to explore the world and cap the skill points scattered around. It also would mean people would actually complete events still.
I don’t know about intentionally letting the market flood with tier 5/6 materials. Maybe that’s true but the drastic reduction in people doing events with guaranteed rares caused the prices of rares and ectos to go up. There’s no way to get ectos other than through salvaging rares. The refined tier 6’s can be attained through node gathering or salvaging in addition to champion chests. Now the fine tier 6’s like Cyrstalline Dust can only be gotten through drops or through the mystic forge. That I can understand increasing the supply for. With that being said, I don’t agree with increasing the supply of tier 6’s while decreasing the supply of ectos.
I haven’t really played an necromancer but their minions would make them a safe choice when confronting multiple enemies. I do have an engineer and I would say that it’s not a very beginner friendly profession. There are a lot of kits, elixirs, turrets, and situational utility skills that make the engineer pretty complex. If you master it, which I haven’t done, you might actually find it really rewarding.
Personally, I find the thief to be the most enjoyable due to its simplicity. There is the issue with thieves being really soft though so you’ll get really intimate with dodging as you’re leveling one. Even though a thief isn’t very complex, there’s a lot of depth in terms of survival. You have to be really analytical and have a good grasp of your surroundings. If played right, you should be able to get out of any hairy situation. Thieves that get too aggressive tend not to live very long.
I find the guardian to be pretty boring as it is pretty tanky and its damage output isn’t all that high compared to other professions. Still, it’s very easy to get into and because of its defensive skills you can get away with missing a dodge or two. I won’t get into too many details about the guardian but it’s very similar to the paladin in WoW. That happened to be my least favorite class.
Now an elementalist is actually really fun to play once you get used to switching attunements on the fly. It’s almost as complex as an engineer but because your attunements are mapped to your F keys it’s slightly more intuitive than switching kits on an engineer. Elementalists are very flexible in that they can quickly switch from defense in earth, to burst damage in air, to sustained damage in fire, and healing in water.
I haven’t fully leveled my warrior yet but I hear it’s really easy to learn. It might be better than the guardian because it has stronger offensive capabilities. The mesmer is a bit strange compared to the other professions. Mesmers rely a great deal on their illusions and skills that confuse enemies so that their attacks damage themselves. Conditions can also come into play although at the high level direct damage builds tend to be preferred.
I haven’t really gotten into group play and synergy between party members because that’s something you’ll have to discover on your own. What I will say is that combo fields can be utilized by physical projectiles or certain special effects can be triggered by blast finishers. Now projectiles and finishers come with certain skills so you have to check the tooltip for each skill if you want to know which skills are projectiles or finishers.

Maybe it would be more exciting if there were was no respawning like in the first Guild Wars. The only way you’d come back is if your teammates revived you. That way people could actually camp your corpse if doing so was to their advantage. The reason it would be more exciting is because each death would have a much bigger impact. When you actually take someone down it would be a big deal and you might hear a big cheer from the crowd. What they should avoid doing though is going into multi-kill announcements. We don’t want the focus to be given solely to kills and not on the objectives. They’re already saying <player name> is dominating so that should be enough.

I’m just wondering how GvG would work when you have people that are in multiple guilds.
I do too. In fact, harder open world content was recently talked about here on the forums. Most were in favor of it if I remember. Even if not specifically in that thread, there’s a plethora of others just like it requesting the same thing, showing a lot of support.
They listened and gave us their idea of hard open world content – the Karka Queen. Haven’t seen many people interested in that fight. While changing Teq fight to make it a bit more interesting is a good thing, let’s just hope it won’t end the same.
Basically, if you do a big event that requires a lot of people to finish (like this one), you’d better be sure that it will appeal to a majority of players. It doesn’t matter how much some people might want extremely hard content, if in the end they’ll find that there’s not enough of them to finish it.
And of course there are the low population servers. Or those when most of the players are asleep/at work etc. Or both. Even teq wasn’t exactly trivial if it was being done by five people.
In other words, they also need to scale these bosses down when there aren’t as many players.
Where in the quote does it mention interbreeding?
Was I the only one that facepalmed when that one player requested a UI mechanic to announce to her guild when she finishes a legendary?
I was like “There’s already one. It’s called guild chat.”
I think she’s asking for something similar to WoW’s guild announcements. Blizzard implemented something at the beginning of Lich King that would spam guild chat whenever someone in the guild or the guild itself got a significant achievement. If someone maxes out their crafting, if the guild downs a raid boss, etc. guild chat would receive an automatic notification and everyone would know.
I don’t know if it’s a good idea to have something like that in Guild Wars 2. You have to consider that players can be part of more than one guild at a time and that you can only see the guild chat for the guild you are representing. Plus it might get annoying when you’re spammed by these messages.
Best pvp dodge ive ever seen…..I dont see this game ever getting pvp to a competitive level now….god kittening dammit
Can’t blame him for that, considering how toxic the PvP community is, no offense.
Maybe there’s a valid reason for it being so toxic?
Yeah. Because PvPers make it that way no matter what Developers do.
The League of Legends forum would agree with you.
Best pvp dodge ive ever seen…..I dont see this game ever getting pvp to a competitive level now….god kittening dammit
I missed it, what happened
Someone asked if there’ll be other SPvP types such as assault, capture the flag, etc.
Colin answered that they want to make SPvP easily watchable so that you can see the score, know who’s winning, etc. He ended it by saying adding different modes isn’t out of the question, aka one day it might be added. (all of what he said has been said before)
The first part of his answer didn’t really make sense, since capture the flag and assault are easily watchable? If you have no clue what you’re looking at, those two are much easier to watch imo.
Capture the flag has been incorporated into conquest on the Spirit Watch map. It’s not the same as a straight capture the flag game but it actually adds a bit of variety to the standard flag capturing gameplay we’ve seen in past games.
Assault is sort of implemented into conquest on the Legacy of the Foefire map. You often find players trying to kill the guild lords to end the game. Often you’ll find the other team either racing to see who kills who’s guild lord first. Some times you’ll see one team defending their guild lord against the other team.
Some of these things are already in the game. Others aren’t as feasible right now and resources are probably better spent elsewhere.
- New races will require their own personal story additions.
- GvG will really just be sPvP but between players from different guilds.
- There will be new skills added to the game.
- I’m not sure what you mean by better armor choices but there are new runes, lots of new skins, and Ascended armor coming up.
- There’s been a number of WvW updates. They’re also bringing new features in and bringing the orbs back somehow.
- Precursor crafting will likely appear in some future update after everyone’s crafted their Ascended weapons.
- Playing housing/guild halls seems like a good idea but it could end up being really gimmicky. How often do you think people would actually visit their own houses or guild halls?
Yes these things require resources, all things do. By you saying the resources are better spent elsewhere you are doing exactly what they are. These things are constantly being asked for, but always ignored or postponed for indefinite or excessive amounts of time.
All the things you have tried to answer with “it’s coming, maybe, sometime in the future” which is all we’ve heard for a year.
Well, actually a lot of these things are already in the game. That’s why I was trying to say. People who say WvW hasn’t been getting attention are forgetting about WXP and the WvW skills that come along with it. People who ask for updates to sPvP seem to forget that they’ve added three new maps along with all the features like spectator, solo queue, private arenas, etc. People who ask for better champion loot got what they wanted too, much to the chagrin of the non-farming players.
More importantly, people who have been asking for a LFG tool are getting exactly that. It is coming in the update after Super Adventure Box. The best part about it is that it’s not limited to dungeons only. You can use it to find players for open world events or to just group up for whatever reason. I think it’s time we stopped pretending that there have been no changes made to the game.
People are going to whine because it’s not changes they want.
No, people will whine because its changes no one wants
I don’t know where you’ve been but I do believe that at the very least someone if not everyone wants a LFG tool. They’re bringing that into the game with the update after Super Adventure Box. On that note, I’m sure a lot of people wanted a lot of those new sPvP features they implemented. I’m sure a lot of people wanted guild missions, the account wallet, new fractals, etc. There’s definitely people that don’t want this stuff for some reason but I wouldn’t say no one wants them.
Alright, i’ll bite. What are those so kitten amazing spvp features are we talking about? a leaderboard???? visit spvp section and see how happy is everyone down there. Guild missions are more repetitive and boring than Champ farming and this should tell you a lot. new fractals? Where? I don’t see any. What i see is a buggy mess fractals are 9 months after released with none existent reward system. Acc wallet added 11 months after game’s launch /yay? also, what is that “etc”, nerfs to all possible farms?
Solo queue for tournaments, spectator, three new maps, and yes leader boards. I’m probably missing something but I don’t do sPvP much. I’m sure the PvP forum will be filled with complaints because someone who is happy won’t take the time to praise ArenaNet.
Your opinion of guild missions is your own. Some people like them while others don’t. They only get repetitive after you’ve done them many times. Realistically you should be feeling tedium after playing any piece of content in any game many times over.
The new fractals are coming. I’m not going to say they will be revolutionary but people, maybe not including yourself, are looking forward to them. The rewards will come in time like with the revamped dungeon rewards. Don’t expect exotics to drop like the rain though. I think that’s the mistake ArenaNet made with the champions. They needed better loot for sure but listening to complainers and making a knee jerk reaction to make their loot too good was a big mistake. That’s why you have champion farming to the exclusion of everything else.
As for nerf to farming spots, I will say that it is my personal preference that there be no farming spots. Of course, I’m not saying ArenaNet should stop farming altogether because I know some players actually enjoy this sort of activity.
People have been asking for things like player housing, new races/skills, gvg, better armor choices, more WvW updates, polymock, precursor crafting/scavenger hunt, new legendaries, guild halls, and other things far more than just making Tequatl behave slightly differently.

Excuse me, but how and where do you view this stuff?
And impartial observer would’ve noted that revamping the loot pinatas we call world bosses was something many players asked for, me included. Didn’t a recent thread about making the open world harder get upvoted?

Not a single WvW’er in the entire game asked for WXP. They constantly add things that no one asked for. They spend far too much time on those things, as well.
Maybe they didn’t ask for WXP specifically but they did want new features. It just happens that ArenaNet delivered in the form of WvW skills like trebuchet mastery, catapult mastery, supply mastery, etc. Some people want new maps for the borderlands and during one of the WvW livestreams they actually gave a brief glimpse of one in the works.
There are also things that people ask for that ArenaNet can’t really comply with because other players would disagree. Some people want the jumping puzzles removed from WvW while others who don’t like ganking want the jumping puzzles to be safe havens. We know that such things aren’t realistic so these kinds of changes probably won’t happen.
I also didn’t mention how people wanted things to do as a guild. They added guild missions and will likely add new ones in the future. People wanted some of the temporary content to become temporary so they’re bringing back MWF and AR as fractals while making a brand new fractal.
The line that keeps being used is “We hear what the community is asking for”. That actually makes matters worse because they hear us but they just don’t actually care what we think.
And impartial observer would’ve noted that revamping the loot pinatas we call world bosses was something many players asked for, me included. Didn’t a recent thread about making the open world harder get upvoted?
People have been asking for things like player housing, new races/skills, gvg, better armor choices, more WvW updates, polymock, precursor crafting/scavenger hunt, new legendaries, guild halls, and other things far more than just making Tequatl behave slightly differently.

I think the high health pool might be a bit of a problem. Having mechanics that wipe people who are playing poorly makes sense. It encourages coordination and skillful play. Having a high health pool on the other hand really only enforces the idea of min/maxing for damage output.
Overall, the changes to Tequatl or a welcome addition to the game. Based on the footage at PAX, he may be a bit too much of a damage sponge. Giving him new abilities that can be avoided and that can one shot you if you fail to avoid them is a great idea to weed out the mindless drones. Giving him too much health really doesn’t contribute much though. They also added a timer to it to add insult to injury.
It’s something similar to zerging except players in that zerg can’t suck. Basically they’re trying to make large scale content challenging. Yes, Tequatl is a damage sponge but he also has abilities that will kill you if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Yeah its strong and can kill you but this is not the type of challenge players want! We want large scale INSTANCED content that you can do with your guild/group of players and when you fail you stop and think “ok what went wrong and what can we do to get better?”. This open world stuff? You cant coordinate with all the trolls/bad players/afkers for loot…
You can to a certain extent. Then again, you’re probably going to be bringing your guild with you to do this sort of content anyway. It will just happen that there are other players that will tag along. I don’t know the player limit per zone but I think that if you can manage to bring about 50 of your guild mates you should be fine. The rest of the players aren’t as essential to the fight. Having them there won’t even hurt. It’s not like their corpses turn into risen; at least I hope not. They can contribute damage and maybe help defend things.

Speculation says it might be a revamped Tequatl (plus maybe other world bosses?) which might have some of the “invasion event” elements in it.
Wow, it’s almost like you had insider knowledge. I mean, it could have been the Shatterer, the Fire Elemental, or any of those other world bosses that are never visited.
At PAX, ArenaNet will be unveiling some new content at their panel. Will it just be an early preview of world 2 in Super Adventure Box or will it be something brand new? Maybe we are getting a sneak peak at the Thaumanova Reactor. We know they’re working on a new borderlands map for WvW so it might just be that. Hopefully it’s something totally unexpected though. Surprises are always a good thing.
Be sure to tune in to twitch at around 1:30 PM PST to find out.

GW1 was a completely different game, Ecto in GW1 could be farmed or bought from a vendor, and was only used for FoW Armor,
In GW2 it can only be gotten from salvaging rares, with a low chance of recovering it, it is also used in ALOT of crafting abilities, they are adding more and more things that require ECTO, but no other way to obtain it, its a T6 mat, why is it not in the champ loot boxes?
C/Dust is now linked to Ecto,
The Demand is going to rapidly outstrip supply from Tuesday onwards, and id say you could easily add another 10-15s on todays price.
@zeromius, I hear what your saying, but sadly people have been shouting out on the forums for the best part of a year now that the loot for events is crap, and now its going to shine threw next week.
The loot for champions was made too good compared to loot for completing an event. Now that the temple events have something that champions alone don’t have it will give people incentive to actually complete them.
The champion farming is not helping with the shortage of ectos. In fact, it may be one of the causes of the price increase. With fewer people doing events with guaranteed rares you start seeing fewer ectos on the market.
Ha! You people complaining about this are so funny. Very amusing to listen to.
First world problems.
hmm its not that they dont look good for weapons its that they dont look good for ascended weapons. I would at least ask for foefire/ volcanus quality with an extremely time gated and expensive weapon (expensive from the crafting to 500 and other stuff). Honestly they dont even have effects (or at least none that i can see from the pics on gw2 new blog post).
Volcanus, Foefire, Jormag’s breath, etc. will still have a place in the game simply because their skins can be applied on other weapons. I guess if you don’t like how the Ascended weapons look you have the option of transmuting a different weapon skin. In fact, if you don’t want people knowing what build you’re using then transmuting might actually serve a practical purpose as well.
They look really nice. I guess when you put all that time and effort into something it should at the very least look good. The only issue I think is with the colors changing to match the stats you have on the weapon. It’s pretty much an involuntary gear check. While I personally don’t care, I could imagine quite a lot of people freaking out about how Ascended weapons will give certain people a way to discriminate others based on their gear/build.
There’s a saying in game development that goes something like this:
“If you were to judge every game by their official forums, you’d come to the conclusion that every game is terrible, complete trash, and should never be played by anyone.”
Point being, if you want to know what the game is like now, log in and see rather than go by the opinion of people who swarm to official forums to voice their personal dissatisfaction.
Mass Effect 3, the worst game ever made. Why? It had an ending that was open to interpretation and people didn’t like that.
I think the real problem is that people are really narrow minded and judge a game based on very specific factors that they consider to be important. They refuse to look at the game as a whole.
I never got a chance to do the clocktower, so I’d love that.
Hopefully they find some way to improve the starting area of the Clocktower. Otherwise, it really doesn’t need to change much. The question is, should they keep the Mad King’s Slippers at the top?

You’re so cute, thinking you’ll be able to avoid crafting ascended weapons because you can drop them…. drop rates in this game are so high, I mean, look at the exotics. Common, right? Now take that minuscule chance of dropping an exo and divide by 200….
What’s your point? The potential for ascended weapons to drop is there if you only want to play a single aspect of the game.
Judging by how rarely Exotics drop, it’s not unthinkable for Ascendeds to drop even less often. Of course, we should come to expect this already. If would be nice if they only dropped off legendary enemies because then at least you’ll feel that you’ve earned it. Dropping off normal enemies, veterans, lieutenants, or champions doesn’t really feel right.
