I’d love to tell you I’m competent, but I’m too afraid of randomly kitten in whatever test you have and having you be a jerk about it, despite evidence of random competency. Like soloing Alpha, or being the only one to not go down on my first Lupi.
What are you really looking for? You try to specify a difference between elitism and competency, but the rest of the thread makes me think you’re still looking for full berserker melee did the fight 10 times and is a bad kitten and acts like he’s God, versus someone who just tries to listen and NOT die, and may still kitten here and there, but those events pale in comparison to the times he does well.

You do realize that during all that, the Ghost Eater is constantly attacking you with wells that can drop you in seconds, right?
Someone confirm this, because every time I’ve done this so far, the Ghost Eater always seems to deaggro after he turns back, allowing you to not sweat filling up another trap if they’re empty.
Turns out I’m one who just likes playing female charr. Had the option to go male on my ranger, even with a look I liked. Rolled female anyway.
I don’t focus on my mesmer a lot, but it’s mostly the Lazy Kai one, aka shatter Greatsword. Off hand is staff for the support and warlock, though maybe I might consider grabbing a sword-focus later (don’t know if I really like it).
Shimar/Donata Ironmind/Aerianwen
Profession: Elementalist/Necromancer/Mesmer
Traited: Damage with Pvt armor/Conditions/GS and Staff shatter burst, built glass.
Experience: None.
Time: Mostly available up to late afternoon, weekend nights. Sometimes weekday nights.
Other: Willing to run all 4 for the title and farm for tokens. Decided to join since I’ll probably be running Arah for later alts, anyway.
Ele is geared with berserker or knight/valkyrie trinkets. Necro just needs two pieces. Both have ascended amulets. Mesmer needs trinkets and a staff. Not enough experience with sword/focus.
Not all that good of a runner. Gotten annoyed of being picked out for death by mobs.
Finishing up CoE with path 3, then I’m willing. I’ve somehow half-soloed the first Alpha fight on path 2 on the ele.
I would hope so. But considering the regular collectibles still max at 250, probably wouldn’t make much difference.
I only started running CoE, but it’s probably because it requires quite a bit more skill and time. Subject Alpha itself is a hassle, especially route 2 and 3 if you stack against a wall. It does sound like a good lead-in towards Arah, though, when things get serious.
I’m just doing it now for the dungeon title, and probably put the tokens towards a berserker scepter before I hit Arah.
You’d basically be looking at an aura-share build again, except you have a little more power behind you, and a lot more auras outside air/water. 20 in fire nets you a trait that gives you a fire aura on signet cast, and with 30 in water gets you aura share. 10 in air gets you fury/swiftness on aura, 10 in earth gets you protection on aura.
Here’s a WoodenPotatoes video for you where he tries it out.

That actually doesn’t look too bad, Defora. I was going to make a post about this same subject last night: a supportive staff ele that was good in dungeons and wvw. Especially since I already had an ascended berserker amulet, and wanted to keep my Pvt armor. My issue mostly stemmed from having a valkyrie/knight trinket mix, and if I should keep that or make the switch to full berserker. I have a pair of daggers in my bag, just in case I wanted to switch it up a little.
Following someone else, I went 4 altruism runes for the boon duration with the 3 stacks of might on heal for everyone around. I had some pristine snowflakes in the bank already.
Really? Cause I don’t think he did. He tried going rabid and felt weak, and gave several points that leaned more towards carrion.
I’m not that experienced with multiple ele builds, but here goes.
Here’s a video discussing the idea.

I would go carrion (condition/power/vitality) over rabid (condition/precision/toughness), because I feel power does well on elementalists (video also kind of agrees). Rabid is more for necromancers, I feel. Carrion is also quite useful for a build I found that goes 20/0/30/0/20, trying to do good damage in fire while emphasizing eruption on staff. I didn’t stick around in it, but I find I’m using eruption a lot so I might switch back for dungeons at least.
You’ll still want to go fire with that power, whether you go scepter or staff. Not sure if it’d be good on dual daggers. Attunement swapping just seems like something you need to do.

There are many opinions on how Rox looks, but I think we can all agree that her concept art is awesome.
Too bad it’s not quite what we got.
What the…
Why can’t she look more like that?
I think seeing the initial art of Zojja made me want to get the game in the first place. I started on FFXI with a Taru, and maxed two gnome mages in WoW. I’ve pretty much been a fan of small races since. Asura probably most of all because they seemed the most original (of a sort). My intial asura was male and looked fairly ‘normal,’ but I always wanted to make a cute female as well. Right now they number 3 of my characters, with a fourth waiting for me to get a ninth slot and try out some of the other races/classes.
Charr rank second, and sylvari third. Humans are boring, and norn are slow.
As people have already said knights (p/p/t) gear is available from SE/Arah
rabid (prec/tough/condition damage) is available from CM/TA/HotWRabid is Arah/TA/HotW. It’s not found in CM.
Actually it is in CM, and I’m looking at it right now. He only skipped Arah.
Whisper armor looks pretty decent if you don’t mind the tail clipping much. Opinion on the helmet differs.
I plan to switch up to a couple Arah pieces once I start running it.

No. I do admit the auto attack seems weak, but coupled with a staff and shatter build, I do tons of damage anyway. Been using a greatsword since level 1, hasn’t done me wrong since.
Opposite for me. I feel like I need to force myself to play as either a human or norn (or even sylvari sometimes). I have 4 asura, 1 charr, 2 sylvari, and 1 human. The human may or may not get turned into a charr once I pick an order for the achievement and story. I’m only tolerating it because I decided to make the human to have someone look really piratey, otherwise I wanted a charr for the idea of a big hulking cat with the agility of a normal one. Norn I’m struggling to even care about. I don’t think I’ve ever taken one outside the level 2-5 area.
For the topic, because our colleges are massively more advanced than any education you can possibly muster. We are learning by the time we are born, while I don’t know when you start.
However, I do not know about the rest of the asura, but I was postulating an all-races college. I think it’d have to be somewhere more accessible like Lion’s Arch, or if we rebuilt Orr to incorporate all the races (if the humans allow it, you know. They would probably be pretty sensitive about their temples).
If humans can develop basic irrigation, charr can develop those war machines and guns, and sylvari can find 500 different uses for plants, I doubt the other races are THAT dumb.
Norn, on the other hand…

Think Asura is my favorite race. Maybe because I made 4.
In order of make:
Miakken: AH Guardian. In his potential at 80 look, especially with the Juggernaut. May or may not be replaced with a charr, depending on my feelings. Otherwise he seemed to switch between looking humble and looking tough. Tough sits better.
Kohrru: Necromancer. Second necro, actually. Going power. Really wanted a cute asura somewhere, but since she’s a necro, also look disturbing. I think.
Huappo: Engineer. Going pyro/flamethrower with pistol/shield. Wanted something a bit mad scientist.
Shimar: Elementalist. Main. First 80. Switches between carrion staff for dungeons or overused dagger/dagger.
I think I switched to this at 80. When I discovered I was blowing up clones a lot everywhere, I figured 30 points in Illusion, why not? Learning Centaur runes were pretty much the speed buff from focus was icing, as I much prefer the staff. Frankly found myself doing 2k+ or more just with iZerk. In rares. I now own the entire Zhed set, just haven’t put it on.
If there’s a shatter nerf and GS buff, the second build might be a better option. At least in dungeons.
I haven’t seen it up on Tarnished Coast for a while. Kind of need those trinkets for my necromancer.
As the self-proclaimed resident expert on Ash Legion uniforms…
Bringing this up because I’m wondering if you’ve found these leggings. I know the rest is T1 cultural, but I haven’t found the leggings yet. They seem to be on various ash legion, this one from Fireheart Rise.
I already have a bunned female asura. Do I need to feel bad for having a pure white charr?
I even heard female, charr and necromancer wasn’t a common combination…
Trying to remember what led me to make a female charr. I don’t think I originally planned to make a female charr. I remember seeing one necromancer with CoF armor outside AC, and thought it looked awesome. So I created a female charr necro of my own (one of the aformentioned white tiger ones on Tarnished Coast).
It almost became my main at one point, even if my true main was already 80 and relatively geared. I think it was mostly the necro part (made a second one, female asura), but I still thought myself unique in the triple odd combination. The white fur actually makes her seem ethereal with a slight glow. I think it was the time I heard her say “Achieving, the life of/for me” when I thought she was a keeper (might have also been when I heard her go “I am death incarnate,” but all necros say that). I think she’s a bit ‘cute’ or just less monstrous, but I’m sure she can look fierce in a pinch (she was originally designed to be ‘motherly’ or something).
Male, btw. I originally planned a female human mesmer because sexyness, but stuck to sylvari because I preferred less. Still think my charr represents me the best of my characters (along with my main asura).
