1. How do you feel about this proposal?
I personally don’t like this form of a proposal because this idea is pretty much the reason we started world linking because there were to many servers in the first place. Reality is some of us would still prefer to ditch world linking and would rather have you guys come up with a better algorithm that based matchups purely on the population of your WvW rather than the amount of glicko and rank in which you hold. But it seems you guys working on the WvW team don’t want to bother taking the time to create a algorithm which bases matchups purely on population, cause i’m sorry if Planetside 2 can do a population balance system although there’s is slightly different i’m pretty sure you guys can to.
2. What, if anything, would you change about this current proposal?
Everything we don’t need more servers, you guys need to actually stop taking the easy route and take the hard long route for once and prospect out a new algorithm that bases matchups based on population then we won’t need world linking any longer, because all these new ideas you guys keep trying keep killing off the WvW population even further.
3. Would you be interested in transferring to a new free world?
Not even close I have server pride and would rather be back to not being paired up with anyone like most servers, not everyone cares for blob warfare.

Personally I liked the idea of world linking at first, enjoyed it alot. Brought alot of fun back into the game, made it feel like WvW was “BIG” again. But here’s the cold truth although It can’t just be blamed on world linking. WvW is one of those things that is growing stale sadly. When I came back to my server DH I thought I would come back to idk more people with these pairings. But in cold reality when I came back I saw alot less. Look I get it, you zerg mentality people love the big zerg groups, but i’m sorry back in the good old days, I was taught better than that, that zerg brain is and always will be kitten, its what has been slowly murdering the game mode. Cause reality is not everyone like’s zerging all the time because some people do like to ppt more than they like to fight and eventually it just gets to the point where people can’t stand it anymore and they just get up and leave. Cause people you need to be honest with yourself and actually get anyone you see in WvW to vote in the server pairing poll, because in the long run pairings has been causing more problems than it has been helping.

I do suggest up the pop cap for maps to accommodate to the new world linking.

This is exactly what needs to be done. There is a lot people just saying “wait it out the ques and interest will die down and all will be fine” that’s exactly the problem we had before hand and what lead to certain servers being “dead”. Uping the limits will allow more people to have an enjoyable experience and for some they may actually get to play.

Do you really believe that it is this easy? Their engine is old and full of technical limitations. If they up the player capacity not only will we have insane lags but also crashes and what not. I don’t think anyone wants that.

If they knew how to increase the map cap without issues then they would have already done so.

Well I hope they think of something better than world-linking I don’t wanna see more of the wvw community be lost, I would have rather had them improve the old system and grow wvw that way, this system is only going to deter away some more people so its GG on there part.

I see some people saying wvw is back and alive, cough its not back and alive its called scrapping together whats left to save it, but with what i’m seeing going around from guilds not being able to run on reset because of ques, and or people not enjoying the blob fest, sure those who stay will be those who enjoy the blobs and or ignore the ques on reset and just wait it out, but there will be that large populace that we lose because they can’t get in with there friends, they can’t get there guilds to run reset weekends because of ques, reality is no one is crying but rather pointing out flaws in the world-linking. So I think what people really need to ask themselves are they okay with losing probably even more people from the wvw community because of this system, that was thrown together to salvage whats left of WvW, or will they have common sense and look at how they could revitalize the old system, which would have a better outcome of making the wvw community larger.

Not sure what you are after here. The low population server WERE fighting other low population servers for months. It was boring as hell and many players quit the game. You may not like Glicko but in the end, even with pure server population system, the matches would of been same.

Also, you do understand that different servers could have same population but play at different timezones? It has been common to win matches simply by having few players take every map when no enemy is around.

Finally, assuming there are no huge population movements, servers would NEVER have any chance to get into different match. There would basically be no reason to even win the match because winning or scoring or any number of points would have no effect on who you fight next week. You know who you fight – same guys you fought this week.

You do understand that most people who move to low pop servers move there to avoid blobs and or que times on reset, the reason being for that is because they like to play wvw differently than others. Heaven forbid people and or the people who were on there servers wanted to be able to play the wvw experience without the blob or que times on reset. How would you feel if your guild had scheduled to run this reset, and lets say your server never qued up everything on a reset so you could run your ops no matter what. Well world linking has come along and now all the places are qued up on reset speaking for a guild that is not used to that and now because they weren’t on soon enough they do not get to do ops. Trust me i’ve seen a few complaints on here about not people not being able to get in on reset, and or people complaining about how they chose a lower server because they did not care for the blobs. Basically not every likes fights all the time, some people like to idk actually ppt rather than fight.

Also a purely based population system would work, but lets say we keep glicko in, say the server is close to moving up a tier but the servers in the higher tier have a higher pop, so that server close to moving up would stand no chance, then when the population fail-safe matchup system in place, that server would not move up into that tier till there population was close or somewhat near those of the higher tier. But world linking is not the best idea in the world after time goes on people will mutually be tired of the blob fest that is now WvW, some guilds will even get tired of not being able to hold there ops on reset weekends like planned when there optimal numbers are on and pugs aka players will get tired as well of not being able to participate in wvw reset weekends because of ques. But like I said not everyone enjoys a blob fest some just enjoy a ppt fest, forcing a blob fest onto those who prefer ppt fest, is not a good marketing idea or sound strategy to improve WvW, its a bit of a turn off, so either they will have to up the player cap per map, or rethink the whole idea of world-linking. It was a good idea at first but when you look at the cons, its not one of the most well thought out systems there is.

It seems quite good so far, I mean ques are to be expect on reset weekends and they normally tapper off during the weekday, but I do suggest up the pop cap for maps to accommodate to the new world linking.

The pros of this so far have been evenly matched fights and population increase and making new friends. Oh and lots of loot.

However here are some cons, first off Server identity pretty much being ripped from the servers who were shoved up into the pairings, i’m from darkhaven and we are paired with Fergusons crossing however, our enemy only sees everyone as darkhaven so essentially they don’t have a server identity when it comes to WvW anymore, that’s not okay or cool alot of servers are proud of there server identity and the server they play for.

The other Con and I see this alot and I can’t disgree the reason alot of people that were on the low pop servers, were there because they didn’t care for this Blob warfare that t3 or higher had. I’m not going to lie I find blob warfare myself to be quite boring and not exciting at all.

Personally I think this world-linking system was a great idea but in the end it has 2 major cons that for some will be the ultimate turn off. When alot of the WvW players asked for a population balance we didn’t really have something like this in mind from what I read around online. Our idea was that you guys at Arenanet could create a new match matching system that wasn’t based around glicko but rather population itself. Don’t get me wrong glicko is pretty to look at but should never determine a matchup.

So my idea is instead of world linking as some people and i’m sure its not a small enough crowd to ignore don’t prefer blob warfare and don’t like the idea of lack of server identity. That a matchmaking system that determines match ups purely based upon WvW population alone, to create a match up rather than having a pairing system that alienates some servers identity’s.

p.s. loved the world link idea Anet but execution was poor not everyone enjoys blobs and or loss of server identity.

Alright Anet I already filed an ticket and am already getting tired of your poor and faulty detection system. It says i used a tampered with and or modified the game files. Well that is incorrect, I did not modify and or tamper with the game files, I am a legitmate player and have been playing legitimately for over 3 yrs now . Would love to have a support team member fix my issue asap because like I said i’m getting sick and tired of your poor detection system.

Well basically after that late night patch last night I was fine for 20 minutes and well my game froze and well when I tried to login it said access key disabled. Well luckily with the help of one of Anet’s wonderful dev’s we found the issue. It seems that Anet’s ban wave targeted more than just the bots, in fact that lovely little patch, went and took out some player who did that jumping puzzle legit. So I ask Anet next time you do a ban wave please make sure the program is programmed right, I was up all night freaking out wondering why I kept getting access key disabled when it turns out your bann way hit innocent players as well and revoked some people’s game access.

I’d Still Prefer matchups randomized by tiers bronze servers face random bronze severs, rating will no longer effect matchups, silver vs silver servers, gold vs gold servers all randomized of course so you will never be able to predict your matchup at all and you will be kept on your feet, this would help provide a refreshing battle each week rather than the current boring locked in the same place agains the same opponents junk.

Alright this is just an idea because honest i’m getting bored of having the same matchup for over a month. So here’s an idea create a dynamic matchmaking system for WvW meaning say your server in the bronze tier you will be randomly matched up with any server in that Tier, if your server is in the Silver Tier your server will be randomly matched up with any server in that Tier, same goes with Gold Tier you will be randomly matched up with those in Gold Tier. Note That Tier you would fall in would from hence forth determine your matchup sorta like how WvW tournaments worked.

There’s this crazy rumor going around that SMS is going to be a future requirement for future guild wars 2 accounts, I know its only a requirement for free to play if you want to mail stuff, but I am hoping that you at Anet are not serious about forcing future gw2 purchasers to use such a feature as SMS. Cause lets get some facts straight not everyone has SMS. Realistically such a thing is not even in logical sense a good idea of forcing onto future players.

Look f2p should NOT and I mean NOT have access to WvW for obvious reasons, have you ever heard of server spys, its a real thing and now you just made it easier to do thanks alot Anet. Also not happy that they can go all the way to max level like come on slap a lvl cap on that thing make them actually want to buy the game. and Don’t let them have daily rewards. Still not happy at all really about this I feel like this is a huge slap in people’s face who actually paid for the core game. I paid 60 bucks for the core game when it came out. Cause honestly right now I feel that everyone who spend 10 to 60 bucks should get refunded by Anet personally for this ridiculous thing. But in reality the least I want done is f2p Accounts CANNNOT GO INTO WVW. Please like seriously you guys are making spying to easy its stupid.

For the man or people who created the Reaper you really need to stop basing it around horror movies that’s just insulting and plain crap to the name “Reaper”. What you need to do is follow the Proper Thanatos aka Grim Reaper Lore, The Grim Reaper or well Reaper for short is a form of an assassin wielding a scythe, who uses quick and precise attacks. Now look at the “Current” Reaper of guild wars 2 its greatsword attacks are meager and slow of that of a horror movie, so let me ask you does that follow Reaper lore no it doesn’t, The Grim Reaper is feared because he is death himself and he is fast with his attacks and no one would wish to come across him. But with how you dev’s are currently portraying it off of horror movies people do not fear the reaper because its attacks are a complete joke they are too slow, when in reality they should be just as fast as any other greatsword wielding class. Those of you who made the reaper have a lot of work to do, to truly justify its name.

The attacks for the greatsword need to be increased in speed, Remember the Reaper is supposed to be an assassin you can refer to Thanatos Lore aka the Grim Reaper lore to figure that one out, his attacks are fast and swift they are not stupidly slow like the greatsword 1 and some of the abilities that are present are now, please increase the attack speed, the ideal behind the Reaper is that people are to fear him when they come across him and our attacks are no where near the true speed of a true Reaper, in which would inflict fear into our foes.

Speed up the Attacks of the greatsword like seriously speed up the greatsword 1 attacks or don’t even bother calling it a reaper. Because by historical Lore a Reaper is an Harbinger of Death, one who is like an assassin with quick and precise attacks, that’s what a reaper is so speed up the 1 skill and some of the other skills remember, people are supposed to fear Death aka the Reaper to fix the attack speeds because right now there too slow for the meager joke of damage they put out especially for the one skill.

idk why ppl say the reaper is bad honestly I haven’t had any issues with it, there is such a thing as you can’t learn how to play a class right away in just a couple of minutes or an hour, the reaper is a learning curve some catch on right away and know exactly how to use it and kick butt and have 0 issues with it. I know I don’t see any issue with the current Reaper to me it feels smooth and fine if you know how to use it right.

My Feedback of the reaper is this.

Greatsword is great if you have the right build and right stats is highly useful, especially if you know what the skills do and use them properly. The damage output is good as I said if you know how to build into the right stats. The coolsdowns on the skills of the greatswords are well balanced thanks to the fact that our number 2 does not nuke the crap out of people’s health. Those who say the greatsword does not do enough damage and so on and so forth obviously are not building in the proper damage stat area as which would consist of zerker and knights.

The shroud is really nice and well done the skills feel effective and fluid, and the shroud design is a nice touch. The number 5 could use a slightly quicker cast timer however since its cooldown is quite lengthy but other than that its well designed.

But as I stated about the greatsword part look if your not building towards damage your not gonna get that high damage output you want, that’s just plan logic, don’t knock it until you build it right is what I always say.

My first impressions of Reaper:
1. Gravedigger needs a slightly larger cool down reduction. 80% give you a tiny amount of time between, and with how slow all the GS attacks are, this is useless downtime. I would prefer a simple lowering of damage (if they feel that is necessary) for instant recharge.
2. Reapershoud can be very powerful and I like it, but the scythe is a little too big. I get it, they are making a big statement with a large scythe, and I like the thought, but it is too large. I feel like I am swinging an over sized inflatable toy.
3. Reapershoud 5 has some animation problems if the character moves while casting. It can look like you stopped casting altogether, then suddenly connect with the big frost field.

Haven’t played around with the shouts much yet, but enjoying having a non-transform non-minion elite.

gravedigger is fine the way it is, it doesn’t do a lot of damage with anyone above 50% health a let alone it doesn’t do a lot even when they are 50% or lower.

idk I find that the Reaper is perfectly fine the way it is right now, you just gotta learn how to play it, and for those saying no gap closers you are definitely not playing reaper right, you have a weapon swap still so use it, and as for damage idk what you guys are talking about build it properly and reaper does really nice amounts of damage.

Really not impressed by something that will in the many puns that are now going around “blow”, I know myself as an ele player and many other ele players, that sword would have been much more appreciated for the class and would have complemented it more as the reason being that the legendary sword would have looked nice on an ele. But yea meh warhorn I really don’t see the value or niche of a warhorn atleast I know one elite spec I won’t be using.

“Hop into World vs. World between July 17 and July 24 to experience our newest special event, Golem Rush, where siege golems are better, faster, and stronger!

During the special event, all golems will be supercharged and have the following effects:
All siege golems in WvW no longer require supply to construct.
All siege golems in WvW will deal 100% additional damage to other golems and players.
All siege golems in WvW will move at 100% additional movement speed."

Instead of ruining wvw with this horrible idea, that would absolutely cripple some servers, how about you guys do a pve event for once, say idk maybe hold dragon bash again. Because lets be honest its been forever since gw2 has had a dragon bash, or you know some kind of pve event please.

I don’t feel it’s disastrous, but it most definitely lacks the scope for creativity and subtlety that the previous system had. By a HUGE margin.

Under the old system, I make it that there were no less than 30258000 different variations on allocating points on a 6/6/2 spread alone for players to choose from. (Yes, that really does say “Over 30 million”. And, yes, that’s combinations, not permutations, for anyone who thinks that I may have forgotten such things.) And that’s only one of many ways I could have chosen to spread my points out.

One pattern among many; 30 million variations. I’m not going to put the effort to work out the actual answer, because whilst the maths is trivial it’s also tedious, and I’d rather be playing; I only worked out the first number because I’m a maths nerd at heart. But the message is clear, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if the final total were well over half a billion.

And, sure, most of those specs were probably obvious rubbish. And lots of good ones were near-identical. But what it meant was that there was a HUGE specification space out there for inventive, creative players to explore for something that suited their play style. That has now gone.

What are we left with? 270 distinct builds (27 different permutations of major trait per Core Specialization; 10 possible combinations of 3 Core Specializations. That’s yer lot).

270 versus maybe half a billion. In any profession, excluding incomplete builds, there are now exactly 270 different ways to fully spec your traits. That’s it. Probability that your “clever” new build is actually simply a carbon copy of lots of others running around out there – 100%. Room for creativity? Pretty much none. We’re going to be running cookie-cutter builds now, whether we want to or not. And, while I don’t dislike the new system per se – that’s a real shame.

(I’m sure that ANet are relying on HoT putting a little bit of variety back in. Undoubtedly it could, to some degree – but not to anything remotely resembling the scope we had before.)

Those ultra creative one of kind of those half-billion builds are what are referred to as “scrub builds”. Some build somebody made to be a special snowflake that is absolutely worthless because they thought it would be fun but spent most of the time in the downed state. Nobody in your dungeon party or on your sPvP team wants your special snowflake build bringing the team down.

Also a sizable portion of those builds that have one or more of those traits now as baseline or had the traits consolidated because they went well together. Keeping in mind that we only get three non-elite utility skills means that you are picking traits to support those you chose. It’s not like you’d take 20% reduced recharge on traps and not have any traps. Then if you are running with traps and did take that trait it’s likely you picked some other trait that made your traps better. Now those traits are consolidated.

With some traits made baseline + consolidated traits actually reduces those half-billion builds greatly because they get removed from the choices. Since combinations are C(n, r) = n!/[(n! – r!)r!] that means removing even 1 selection of a sizable enough group to give combinations in excess of even 1 million is going to result in a much smaller number due to the nature of factorials. So as impressive as 30+ million vs. 270 sounds it was done without taking in consolidation and traits being made baseline into consideration. That’s negligent math.

Also those traits being consolidated and baselined means getting those same traits plus choices in addition as well to what you would take for the synergy or even getting traits that people didn’t pick in favor of better choices, like extra downed state damage.

Shadow your mentality of scrub builds is the exact reason people probably don’t wvw or desire to play with you, because some people just play for fun, because aka its a game.

Consider bringing the old trait system back

Let’s be realistic even though the new system seems nice, me as a pvper and WvWer have noticed a huge inbalance between some of the classes, mainly if someone is a good thief you can’t touch them at all anymore and before you know it they have you backstabbed and down, engi’s f2 for grenade kit practically one shots people, necros get crushed under anything with high damage or condi, I could go on about other classes and how completely unbalanced the game has become for pvpers and wvwers but you get my point, they need to revise the new system and figure out how they can truly balance it out, otherwise the old system is technically better than the new do to the old system offered more of a balanced combat environment.

I’m not the only one noticing how Condi damage has made, world bosses even easier just by how fast they melt now, however knowing you three are probably condi users and will defend condi with your life.

I feel like condi’s need to be capped in pve, I don’t find it fun or challenging at all for the games “supposed hardest bosses” melting in no time. I understand we wanted to put Condi on par with DPS, but in reality Condi does need a cap, a cap like 50 to 75 for stacks would be reasonable. Rather than letting them spike the stacks over 100 per stack. Please balance this out and make world bossing an actual challenge again rather than easy mode.

Dear Anet the Traits between the ones in which we choose, are not active in Spvp which is this, I find this completely pointless and hurting the whole point of me testing a build there, As an Example i’m on my ele and the one trait your supposed to gain boons when you switch attuments, based on that attunement, but that trait is not active in Spvp why is this, I really don’t understand you guys, you want to make things better, yet we can’t test the full potential of our build in a spvp environment.

Well imo as a veteran player I personally don’t care that new players are getting the core game for free. Because my mentality is good for them, thats more people to play with and maybe more new people for my servers WvW. To many Veterans are outcrying that its not fair like a child, however what they don’t realize is that this deal could gain them new players in there guild, new players for there wvw environment and so on and so forth. Plus lets be realistic most expansions are 50 bucks or more. Now on that note I don’t know i’m a veteran myself and just disappointed at the other veterans who would be so hard headed and selfish as to hinder the chance for our community to grow.

Question about guild halls

Can a Anet staff please answer this.

So I was talking with some of my guild leaders about the upcoming guild halls, and describing to them the article and the first thing I noticed was, that you have to defend when guild hall aka ruins, when it comes under attack.

So i’m just wondering if the ruins is like completely separate from the guild hall itself, or are we really gonna have to defend our guild halls?

Because lets be honest that means some of the smaller guilds are gonna be losing there guild halls alot to the mordrem.

I see no point in reseting, do to the fact that the PvE community is vastly larger in this game than the WvW community, doing such a method would cripple a player base and make out for horrible PR for an Expac with great hype. I do WvW day in and day out but I took the time to do map completion, so in my opinion if you don’t wanna feel behind then get off your lazy bum and go do those skill challenges ahead of time before HoT hits.

I’ll be playing the Necro cause of the whole reaper thing, I won’t be playing the revenant obviously in the hopes that its truly an incomplete product and that it will see a spec or well trait line that is effective for a power build.

well if you payed attention at all necros will be able to get a trait where they will gain an aurora in the blood magic area, which in effect members of said party will also gain this aurora if spec’d and or traited properly to where they can also regen health off of attacks, of course from what I got out of the stream though and with do reasons this aurora does have a time cap.

I don’t really see them doing another tournament, because of the negative feedback on tourny 3, no one really liked the tournament 3 rewards, and no offense these world tournaments create very hostile environments within servers.

This event was a really bad idea just had someone link in my map they have 2 portals, so Anet how do you expect to get the amount in if there are people getting more than one as a drop.

I’ve been grinding for almost 13 hours now, yet my friend jumps in for a one hour sess for vw and gets the portal in 1 hour. Wish my Rng was that lucky.

Can an Anet dev look into this because it seems the only way to fix it is for you guys to do an emergency patch on your end, basically when I try to load into a map this error pops up which is very annoying. Please fix this issue I would like to be able to play the game I have paid for. (code=1083:5:7:1618:101) This same issue happened to my friend last night so it seems this bug is back.
