Zeal nerf?

in Guardian

So since the patch I have been testing my builds again to see whether they changed much, even though in the patchnotes they didnt quite seem to have nerved anything at all. However under the exact same circumstances (dps golem) my standard dps hammer build dropped from 29k to barely 23k dps. Heck, even using radiance instead of zeal gives more (24ish)

Whats up with that? Im honestly utterly confused. (especially that now scepter build ticks 30kdps is odd too). Especially sicne the patchnotes stated nothing about any nerf or whatsoever.

I tested without food, but with all boons. Marauder armor with scholar runes, and the rest is full zerk. (i know, marauder isnt as good for dps)

Living World Story so solo unfriendly

Its easy enough to play it solo, as long as you have the proper build and you dont screw around. Its a bit poorly explained, but once you know how to remove the shields from the 2 golem thingies before the bossfight, the fight itself is very straightforward. Just dodge properly and you can survive with a glasscannon build (i know i did :p)

Do devs ever read or is this game a myth.

this… has to be one of the more incoherent rants I read on the forum…
But lets see if I can elaborate here and there to what you wrote:
-Leveling/questing system: what is there to fix? its rather straight forward, you have plenty of options to finish a heart, everything gives xp so leveling is not restricted to farming…. whats your point here?
-Free fashion: Sooo you want to take away one of the biggest reasons for players to farm? (aside from legendaries & ascended ofcourse). If fashion would be free, why on earth would you spend effort on this game? It would take away one of the main goals for people in this game (#fashionwars). Besides, you got the transmutation charges, which is one of, if not the best way to do the fashion in an mmo i have seen.
-¨THIS GAME IS DIEING¨writing it in capslock doesnt make it more true. There are plenty of people playing the game. Yes its at a low point atm after a long period of content draught, but if you havent noticed, living world season 3 is coming up, which means new content, which means bringing back people. mmo’s always have a fluctuation in their population, and simply the fact that gw is at its low point of the bar atm does not make it dying. Its a 4 year old mmo (or 5, to lazy to check), give it some credit.

The rest I wont bother writing about, since its just to incoherent for me to understand what your point is.

The Human Gods and their awareness

in Lore

As far as I can remember (correct me if im wrong), the human Gods saw tyria, when they arrived, as a barren wasteland after the previous rise of the elder dragons. Considering we have only seen cantha, elona & the continent tyria (technically speaking also that 4th continent of the canceled gw1 expansion that still is canon), plus taking into account that on the world map found in the order of whisperes clubhouse, the rest of the world is mostly still a barren wasteland. A massive one for that matter.
So its entirely presumable that the gods have just decided that they got bored with the humans, and since they can handle their own affairs themselves now that they moved on with new projects elsewhere in tyria. That or they just are on a retirement on their home planet, treating tyria as their race’s equivalent of game of thrones.

However what would be more interesting is to think of what will happen in the case they return. Will the humans go back fully devoting themselves to them? How would the other races act? Will all races be like, sure what effs. Or will all the races, including the humans get kittened that they packed their bags fleeing the onslaught of the dragons, only to return now that it turns out that the combined might of the high races of tyria can defeat the dragons? (and more questions, like, would the gods try to prevent them from fighting the dragons, since they are a vital part of tyria, etc)

Hypothetically Speaking... New Worlds?

If the current goal for WvW is achieving population balance, have you considered compressing it into one tier of three worlds? …….

It technically could work, and if implemented properly map wise their might be a solution there. However the maplayout should be done a bit differently, and not 3x alpine bl & 3x desert bl. After a bit of thinking what could work is if you imagine a pinweel style like Divinities reach: a slightly reworked EB in the middle, surrounded by 3 large maps (or 6 smaller, since large maps can be problematic) for roaming, and then to compleet the pinweel 6 maps sticking out of that circle, of which 3 are turned off (so say 3 alpine bl & 3 desert bl) and from periods they change, if anet wants to use both maps, that is).

The EB could be with half the camps to focus the map on group fights, not neccesarily capping stuff. So perhaps also half the amount of towers. This map should be made to cater fighting-foccused players
The roaming maps in the with more camps and a few towers, and then the bl kind off with the same setup as they are now. And form as a supply route towards sm.
If there are 6 maps, then it could work with 3 towers & 1 keep in the middle, with camps inbetween them. These maps should cater toroamers mostly

Then outside that the standard borderlands as they are now, to create a sieging type of gameplay, as a mix between large scale fights & smaller scaled fighting & roaming.

I do have an idea in my mind on the layout, but my paintskills suck so dont feel like adding that here xD

On the note of community feeling… I agree that it would suck to demolish the server identity. I rather have the linking system to work, but if that does not work, then i guess the 3 alliances would work better. It would create a larger coverage around the clock, and more activety around the clock as well. To prevent dissproportionally big alliances to be made, there should mayeb be a (small) buff to the lowest populated alliance, and a (small) nerf to the biggest populated one. So f/e more & less power/health. Kinda like the outnumbered /bl bloodlust.
Also making the lowest alliance cheaper to transfer to then the fullest alliance would help a bit i guess.
However due to the big scope of the playerbase & amount of maps, it should be less of an issue when an alliance is bigger because of the player spread.

But i dont know… one the one hand 3 alliances with the current 3 orders as patron could work, and fix several issues. And it might be better then kitten, semi broken bandaids to the current server system. On the other hand the nice thing of the current server system is that it, imo, creates for a better community sense. Not to mention that breaking up the current communities would be bad.

Edit:
Got bored and made a (crappy) scetch: http://i.imgur.com/OFJQcRe.jpg
Also added a few gvg maps, primarily ment fighting and just that. Nothing got capture, just a decent terrain for fights

I really dont get the people who complain about not being able to roam anymore because of the linking. I personally transfered a week ago from piken to WsR because of my guild, and there are rarely any queues on the RoF/WsR server. At most during primetime there is a small queue of aroun 10 peeps on 2 maps, but for the rest the maps are good to roam in. Heck, even when i was in Piken during the hight of its bandwagon period there were only queues on the maps during primetime. If you insist on being in a t1 matchup, dont expect to roam during primetime, but outside primetime you have plenty of space to roam without problems. And there are plenty of matchup in the lower tiers still that do not have any significant queues in more then 1 map.

Also, just Fyi, the poll itself is at 76% now, but there is a percentage of 6,5% voted ¨does not count, just here to check the result¨. So the number of people voted in favor is more likely to be 81%.

Potential new races to play as

just to give my 2 cents:

1: Tengu, could wourk, technically counts as a high-sentient race, only lore wise stands in its way that they are hiding behind their wall (perhaps ls3 will change that)
2: Koda, kind off the same as above, but harder lore wise since they are a bunch of self-centered, arrogant spiritual creatures. (i dont like them that much) But i suppose they could work too if some lore developes around them. THough i wonder their popularity.
3. Hylek, never going to happen. They are a lesser sentient race. Plus they dont look that appealing to play with, so the playerbase for them will be very small, even if implemented. So not worth the effort either.
4. Ogre, also a lesser sentient race. Aside from the issues that they are too big, and in 90% of the encounters are to be killed on sight.
5. Centaur: Not nessecerily a lesser race, but the majority of the centaur are the main protagonists in the human story, the only ones who arent violent towards the current 5 races are the hippie centaur in drytop. Though to be fair, there are said to be more of such tribes in the maguuma wastes. THough there are a lot of clipping issues with their armor (and toys, and backpacks)

and some other suggestions i read here:
Skritt: never gonna happen, armor wise a pain to do, plus lore wise they have a hive mind. So unless they do it in a way where your character gets significantly more kittened the more alone he is, (they are only on pair with the higher races in very large groups), it wouldnt make sense to have them playable.

Quaggan: They cant even hold a sword let alone fight with it. At most you can ¨coooOOooo¨ the mobs to death. Never gonna happen :p

Largos: might be possible if bubbles ever comes around the corner. Though dont expect it any time soon since it requires a underwater combat revamp.

So in conclusion, if we ever get it, i think Tengu are first, and possibly the Koda or the Largos in the 3rd or 4th expansion.

Killing ghosts. That never made sense to me. -.-

Well technically you are not killing the ghosts, But you are temporarily ¨disbanding¨(couldnt think of a better word) its ghostly essence. The ¨killed¨ ghosts will reform after a while.
This is at least how it was explained in the book ¨ghosts of ascalon¨ :p

Nightcappers are a myth

in WvW

Posted by: sstefanovv.5269

sstefanovv.5269

Night capping is far from a myth. It happends, im not that familiar with the NA servers (read not at all) but in the EU servers its a big issue. I dont blame the people who only can play at night for actually just playing the game, but the impact that they have on the score is disproportionally high.
f/e with the current matchup of my server (piken square), during the day the scoring goes very even, yesterday there was just under 1k points difference between piken & sfr around 11pm, with deso somewhere in the middle of that. The fights were lovely, and there is an actual interest in capping points, because it can actually matter the matchup. Buuuuut then the night happends, and deso caps all points at night as they do almost every night, giving them a lead of 15k points. This lead is gained in the 6-7 hours that Almost everybody in europe sleeps. becuase you know… people work, study etc.
I dont mind losing, im not the biggest fan of it obviously since i like to win, but its just really frustrating and rather unfair that you lose a matchup this way. Because you just cant fight it. There is no way, aside from people staying up all night in the hope to minimalize the damage that happends at night (which is rather difficult if you need to work or go to school next morning at say 8 or 9am).

I dont want to remove or ban nightcapping. wvw is 24/7. Thats a fact, and part of the game. However the impact of it is way to high. So reducing the impact of it is a must. It keeps the matchup balanced, it prevents the scoring from going out of whack, and it doesnt punish the people who play during daytime.

sidenote, as much as i dont know about that ¨leaked patch notes¨ from a while back, but the idea lsited there was interesting, namely that the higher the tier of a point, the lower the ppt it gives. This, in my opinion, would be a great way to fix nightcapping, since it does NOT make the nightplayers be treated unfair, it just makes them count the same amount as the day-players.
Plus that the fighting would be rewarded more sounded quite ncie too.

But hey…. thats just my 2 cents. But who knows, i might just be having a tinfoil hat believing in a hoax :o
