the only one that ever feels like it is worth a utility slot to me is the shield, and even then it is only at a few places and situations:

a few PVE champions where you can’t see what you need to evade/block over the spell effects and hordes of players, pets and mobs. dungeons, and in WvW/sPVP if you pull it out at the exact right time. (think defending a lord’s room, spawning it the instant before a huge zerg rushes you)

the thing is so weak though if you spawn it at the wrong time or place and expose it to an AOE or sword strike it will be dead before it can be of much use. it also only creates stationary absorption bubbles and then roots itself. so, too much micro-management and uselessness for fights that make you move make it very situational.

the other ones.. i don’t know.. their active moves you can make them perform also destroy them, they have low survivability, they have low uptime, unreliable AI, ect. ect.

imagine if they were built into the guardian traitlines like necro pets. had 100% uptime to make up for loosing a very important utility slot. survived like proper pets should and had effects and active moves that were balanced around that playstyle.

as it is the asura golem racial elites are usually better.

if ArenaNet was afraid of depicting a female with no breasts (for Australia’s sake), wouldn’t they have given Asura enlarged, human style breasts?

i have no idea what was going on in their minds when they were coming up with these little guys. i would like to think they were given complete artistic freedom from start to finish. though, i have no idea.

unless there exists, or in the future exists an article from them detailing how it all (honestly) went we may not ever know. i personally would not have ever cared for Asura and in consequence this game if they had given Asura human sexual traits.

they aren’t human, so why give them human peculiarities?
why can’t they be unique?

clearly the idea behind them is that they are magic-tec wielding, hyper-intelligent shorties that don’t need a large stature. so perhaps they don’t need breasts nor a six-pack..

oh my
im the person with the “successful example” you posted, heheh.
im sure my sliders could be tweaked ever so slightly to be ever so slightly more exact,
but i believe i have the closest lookalike that i’ve seen so far.

i arrived at it by using screenshots of Zojja from many different angles next to the character creator. that was actually only the final attempt. i made and deleted two other attempts before her.

if i recall correctly i wasn’t able to use other people’s slider directions because they were just too off. also, when selecting the Zojja face template in the creator it would always give me slider values that were way off. so i had to go through every slider and change them.

her height slider is actually at the minimum i remember, but her head is enlarged so she appears taller than a typical tiny asura. also her body uses one of the chunkier frames. after very careful comparison though, height and head size may need to be touched up very very slightly.

Zojja uses an eye color/iris’s that are completely unavailable, so you have to make do with alternatives. i chose blue eyes over green eyes just because using the green colors available didn’t pop like Zojja’s actual eyes do. blue popped more with the eyes/iris’s that our Zojja face comes with i thought so i used blue.

Zojja also has a skin tone that is unavailable. i chose what i thought was closest.
in the game my lookalike has a paler skin tone than Zojja when standing them next to one another in any given environment. also because of the paler skin it looks like some of the face sliders are off slightly (smaller apparent mouth, less puffy cheeks ect.).
however if i take my lookalike to a different lighting that shows my face details better my face looks correct.

id love to use a makeover kit and take a picture of every slider for everybody.
when i get my hands on one i’ll post back here with all my slider shots.
getting the best Zojja settings should be a group effort i think.

dyes ARE blueberry, lemon zest and antique bronze though btw.
( in the first screenshot below my lookalike was using incorrect dyes)
(third shows a possible height difference with my clone)
(last two shots are in more complementary lighting to show face details)

I’m sorry I forgot about the tearing and the stretching… oh and not to mention the HUGE hole on the left side of the leggings (when looking down). If you guys can’t look past some of the small problems then an MMO isn’t for you.

the entire concept of my character was destroyed.
even if i ignore the clipping and stretching that was needlessly put into the skin set, i can’t, no matter how much i try to “look past the changes” still look like Zojja with bright gold shoulder pads and the very different ear flaps.

yes, MMOs suck. they all do.
but settling down, shutting up and looking past issues doesn’t help anything.
a huge part of the endgame here is based on skins after all.

the fact of the matter is that we all could see the skins in previews before be bought them. i knew my male asura would have a different profile in his ear flaps and different fit to his armor than the female version. i bought him a helmet and left out the rest accordingly to my taste. likewise any of the female asura players saw how the skins would look before they committed and made their choices based on those previews.

now, i can look past clipping and stretching personally. they are by definition glitches and they may be fixed someday. i can’t however look past the giant ear flaps and the undyable shoulder pads attached to the chest piece. they are changes to the actual design of the armor and are a bait and switch to anybody who has spent the large sums of gold to acquire them.

im sure you could understand if you imagined your favorite weapon or armor skin being changed on you to the point of no longer being able to enjoy it.

ughhh gross.
i appreciate their attempt to give female t3 light wearers their shoulder armor skin, but why the frog can’t they just put the skin on the shoulder armor instead of pasting it onto the chest piece? as it is now you can’t dye it the way you want or hide it… -.-

that and the massive, oversized ear flaps has totally ruined my Zojja lookalike.
ughh, huge waste of 100+ gold if they won’t fix this.

totally ruined.
i want to smack somebody.

Female Armor Skins

to Anet:

if there in the future happens to be discussion on possible changes to existing armor; i say don’t you dare take away any existing options to any players of any race and gender. i have played some online games in the past where drastic and unnecessary armor model changes were forced on players. many of whom who liked or loved how certain things looked prior.

the resulting feeling left to those players is a terrible one.
so please, only add to player’s available choices, don’t take away.

there are a number of these Zojja threads with only some small differences so i guess i will just pick this one.

after messing around with afternoon/gold and then blueberry/ lemon zest i can agree the latter seems to be what she uses. in the screenshots below you can see the former dye combination to be too dark, and the latter to be pretty much it.

also, as far as her face goes. i believe it is possible to get it through the sliders. though her skin tone and eyes being unavailable do seem to play a large part in making her -Zojja-. the third shot is my copycat in the most complimentary lighting i could find to bring out the details in the face that my sub-par skin tone and eyes hide.

Do Asura look cool in any medium armor set?

That looks awesome! (the outfit, but also the picture in front of a tank)
Any chance you’re willing to tell us what pieces (and maybe colours) you used?

thanks! and absolutely.
the skins are from the “Rascal’s” set with the starter monocle in place of that set’s mask. the dyes are simply Ebony, Matte for the silver parts of the monocle and bandana on the coat, and another starter dye for the monocle strap. i forget exactly which.

(i have looked at other dye, i must have gotten over 100 of them getting to level 80, but no other looked better in my eyes.)

rifle skins that match the engineer and their skills are the worst to find, imo.
i always keep my eyes open for new rifle skins.

a few questions

bah, i just remembered you can’t put a higher level trait perk into a lower level trait slot even if you fully invest in the trait line, which i was going to anyway for honor.

so now out of three good perks in the honor line, i can only take two.
since i -have- to take an adept perk id assume the larger symbol one would work best for me.

but out of;
extra symbol healing,
longer lasting symbols,
and Battle Presence (gives nearby allies my virtue of resolve’s passive effect),
i have to take only the two that will help my team the most.

now i know Battle Presence is kind of glitchy, but would anyone know if it would on average offer more healing than one of the other two perks?

soo complicated..
my symbol won’t be on the ground all the time, but Battle Presence would always be active. although if the healing from the symbols is quite abit better than using BP for my melee allies, would that offset the constant healing uptime of BP?

would Battle Presence even reach out much further than a large symbol? enough to reach more mid range or long range allies?

im thinking about dungeons.

a few questions

study.1873

hi, im starting a guardian and im trying to make him durable and a good support for my allies, but im not sure about a couple trait perks. i did search but didn’t find what i needed.

first, Writ of the Merciful (symbols heal allies).
if my mace’s symbol already puts down a regen for allies, will this trait heal in addition to that?

second, Pure of Heart (aegis heals on removal).
if aegis is reapplied somewhat regularly will this trait do enough healing to be worth using over Writ of Persistence (symbols last longer) which would also help my allies more than Pure of Heart i imagine.

and lastly, thoughts on Runes of Mercy? do the effects work? are they worth it over other sets or mixes? from a team support and saving my bacon standpoint i mean.

thanks for your help.
