While I’d love to read your long post, I can already tell you that I have seen thieves take on/elude entire zergs for hours. There’s no way any profession should have that kind of power…
Spirit of Nature, like your pets, has its own healing power, so your healing power do not count. I use support build and spirit of nature is a very good healing skill. I love its activated ability (when it works) , but if you want keep your party alive, your options: regeneration boon, healing spring, spirit of stone, fern mastiff and moa.
Ranger need healing power for: regeneration, signet of the wild, healing spring, runes+sigils, beast master traits 25 and Natural Healing.
Thank you. I think your post may have enlightened me
I think you missed a few things though, namely Signet of Renewal, healing sigils such as sigil of life, sigil of renewal, AND “Search and Rescue!” (one that i really like). I really left no stone left unturned as for a ranger healer build for WvW. Everything about my character is for support, except the gear which is mostly PVT
Edit: Rune of the Water also gives nearby allies a heal that scales with your healing power…
Aww man the changed the date…now I can’t do it because of a competition
Hey guys, I’ve been playing around with the idea of being a fully Combat Medic/support ranger in WvW and so far it’s been pretty fun. So far I only have one question that hopefully the ranger community here could answer, as I looked to Google, and couldn’t find a solution. What are your opinions on Spirit of Nature? Does +healing power affect this spell’s healing capabilities? I don’t believe it does, but I’d just like some reassurance, as I’m currently decked out in all +healing power gear – runes, sigils, food – YOU NAME IT! My suggestion is that if this isn’t already the case, then ArenaNet should start looking at this as a possibility. It seems almost like a waste to even spec for +healing power if this doesn’t have any effect on my elite skill. If anyone has any questions about my build then feel free to ask. I don’t mind helping out a little bit
ArenaNet, please add more functionality to the sPvP spectator system. I’m sitting here watching sPvP matches (and typing this) while waiting for my laptop to update to Windows 8.1. Watching PvP matches in Guild Wars was like watching a movie. You could home in on a certain player or you could let it choose for you. Then, you could basically unplug your keyboard as PvP rounds took a lot of time back then… I wasn’t much of a Guild Wars player until this one came out, but I had the chance to check out the spectator system in that game, and that was something that I spent a lot of time doing about a year ago… The spectator system in Gw2 is awesome; having much better graphics than Guild Wars had is just one of many examples. But it’s lacking a few things that the original Guild Wars’ spectator system had. ArenaNet, are you looking towards adding more functionality to the sPvP spectator system in Gw2, like the kinds of things you had in the original Guild Wars’? If not, then why? So many people use it, and it’s very fun
Also, another idea that could potentially increase the experience of player’s in sPvP and would take little to no programming or production: Syncing up the battle music between player’s clients. Research has been done and it says that this could make people work together better. Also, you could make the “losing” team have more dramatic, or climatic music, while the “winning” team would have proud, epic music playing. This wouldn’t require anything new added to the soundtrack as the one that Gw2 came out with is pretty huge and awesome to begin with. Please and thanks!
Alright so I got the mailbox one to work – it requires us to have a full mailbox, log out, log in, and then go to the PVP lobby. What I can’t get to work is the engineering toolbelt achieve. I just got an engineer to level 3 but I can’t stand the mind numbingness of that profession any more. Is there anyone who had this same bug happen to them before?
This achievement is still giving me trouble, and I tried the “Full Mailbox” hint as well as re logging. It seems like my hints are turned off, but I don’t know how to turn them back on
That or, this thing may be bugged

I’m having trouble getting the engineer tool belt hint to show, and I am trying to get the “Hint Completion” achievement. The wiki says it shouldn’t take longer than 5 minutes to activate any profession specific hints on a new character. I’ve tried changing my healing skill to no avail. Does anyone know how this works?
Kk thanks. I can still use frame limiter right?
UPDATE: Ok so I turned on FXAA in addition to my previous Native Sampling, High Animation and V-Sync graphics settings with everyone else on Low or turned off. I’m just going to do this the hard way by changing little things one by one and seeing what severely affects my framerate in medium to large-scale WvW battles.
Oops I meant @ 4.5 GHz, not @ 3.5 GHz. Just to clear things up. And this thread really isn’t me complaining about WvW lag, I just want to find out how to have slightly better visuals without costing too much CPU power. I know there are a few graphics options which barely effect performance at all, like Animation, but it’s kind of hard to find these things out on the fly while in large WvW zergs. Also I know some of these things require map changes, so if anyone here has played around with graphics settings a little and has a pretty good setup for, say 35v35 WvW battles and would like to share, then that’d be extremely great.
I get very low FPS in WvW, but it depends on what graphics options I have maxed out. I’m looking for the best graphics settings configurations that other people have used which may not stress my CPU as much so I can have decent graphics but still get ~30 FPS in big fights. For example right now all I have are Native Sampling, V-sync and Animation turned on High. Everything else is either turned off or in Low. This seems to work but I’ve seen videos of people with better graphics and a steady FPS in WvW. What do you think I should add to this setup? I want to take videos occasionally and not have to switch graphics settings in between fights like I’ve been doing. Looking at the same old Best Performance graphics began hurting my eyes.
PS I have a GTX 680 and an Intel i5 OC’d @ 3.5 Ghz~
http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Gamer_Xtreme_3000/ I’m a bit hesitant on the desktops thought just because of how mobile I need to be lol. Is there any other laptops you can link? I will consider the one you did link, but its more of a last resort.
You should learn how to build a PC from the ground up for a +30% money efficiency rate. That’s what I did, and you should too if you want to get serious about graphics.
It depends on what you’re doing. If you’re just leveling then I could see you getting 60FPS in some zones, but some major cities and WvW can get very laggy. Even the best rig on the market with water-cooling and an OC’d CPU can’t run GW2 at a steady 60FPS on max’d out graphics options. the game is very CPU heavy so I turned off Shadows and Reflections which seemed to raise my average FPS everywhere.
I run max graphics and lion’s arch is a constant 60 for me. And that’s with Vsync on
What are your specs and resolution? For me it’s a GTX 680, i5 2500k OC’d @ 4.8 GHz and my monitor is 1920×1080:60. I don’t have a steady 60FPS in Lion’s Arch with all graphics options max’d out. Is there a trick?

Intel burn test would be a good start.
Thank you, you were such a great help for me today. I’ll try everything you said, and more…
Hopefully, though, if someone else has been experiencing this freezing error, they wouldn’t be too shy to talk about it here.
Ok, thank you for your response. I’m just thinking it’s probably not a TDR. It might be a hardware issue, because I OC’d my Intel i5 2500k to 4.8 Ghz. It’s stable for me, most of the time. Do you know how I could test this?
what sort of crashing/freezing. theres alot of different ways this game can crash/freeze, some of them being a full system crash (and thus being a weakness in the actual hardware at some point) or a soft crash that just freezes the game itself.
Hello. It’s not a full system crash. Everything freezing but my windows taskbar points to it being a driver fail, or some compatibility issue with Guild Wars 2.
Uh, has anyone else seen this kind of crashing/freezing occur in the past? Here’s some extra info:
I used the optimization guide here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/FPS-and-Performance-based-issues-1/first#post338300
I also used this, even though I haven’t been experiencing black screens: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Black-Screen-Issue-Nvidia/first#post3964
Most of the time, in game, I’ll have an average of 60 FPS. Also, my graphics card runs hot but not too hot. The hottest I’ve ever seen it get while playing GW2 was probably around 60 degrees Celsius, but I have the fan set to go at 95% power at 70 degrees, according to EVGA Precision X. The crashing/freezing error explained above occurs, even after optimization of the game, though. If any more info is needed, like system specs or anything else, I’ll be able to answer them tomorrow.
I have been having this issue since the game launched and it seems to only be happening with Guild Wars 2. The issue, or issues, in question are crashes that mostly happen in crowded areas; WvW, world events, ect. And it’s caused me to hard reset my computer numerous times. I have the most recent drivers for my EVGA video card, and have stayed updated for a long time. My game just freezes up, and everything else also freezes up. I can use Ctr-alt-delete to view my desktop, but can’t interact, using my mouse, with anything but the Win8 task bar. It’s very strange, because while this is all happening, I can feel my graphics card still running hot. There’s no crash report when I get back, so I’m kind of confused. Is this a software issue, a hardware issue, or something that lies in between? Also, if the community has seen crashes like this before, please feel free to talk about your experiences here. I went through about 10 pages on the Tech Support forum and found no topic like this one.
Ok Gaile, and I’m the type of person who only PVP’s which can be done year ’round anyway. Happy Wintersday.
So it’s been a few days since I opened up a ticket in game (not knowing that there was a Support site) before opening up an other ticket on the Support site, asking for an account restoration to before the time I was hacked. Support e-mailed me back with an automatic response, telling me to add a mobile authenticator, which I did. I e-mailed Support once again, and this time checked off the “I don’t need a reply” check box, since I don’t actually need a text-based answer to a question from Support. I was wondering what the ETA was for getting my character back? My family recently made the switch from Comcast to Verizon and I’m wondering if that’s having an effect on the time it’s taking Support to investigate my account. It’s been almost a week, and I’d like to have my character back before Christmas ends. Or at least my 150 badges of honor which the hacker heartlessly destroyed. To be honest with you, I could tell you the CD key, my characters name, my password and the credit card number of a card I used to buy some gems when the game launched. I also don’t know how I was hacked as I use Microsoft Security Essentials as well as Windows 7’s firewall to their full extent.
So to the community I’d like to know if any of you have had your accounts restored, what were the steps you took and how long did it take? Arenanet, could you also please respond if you have anything to say about this? Did I do something wrong? I’d like to start having fun again. Thanks.
Thank you for your replies. I just saw the forum post by Gaile right after I hit my “add post” button.
Does anyone know what [Area] I should put my support ticket under?
Hello,
My account was hacked last night. I never thought it would happen to me, but it did. What I lost was a full WvW karma set, around 150 badges of honor, and my dignity. I did notice that the hacker GAVE me like 7 gold, and a full berserker set. I’m sure he or she used my character to advertise for gold companies, though shudders… So, apparently A.net does not rollback character for this kind of thing, correct? Hopefully I am mistaken because I am asking for my characters items, or at least my badges of honor, back. I’m probably going to have to wipe my HDD and add a mobile authenticator now. So, please A.net, let me have fun with my pre-hijacked longbow ranger!
Thanks for reading!
