EotM promoting stacking a server.

So now, you can stack a server to a point where you can, not only full queue all maps, but also go into EotM map to win 400 more supply for your home borderland. I’ll give you that ‘maybe’ 400 supply may not seem a lot, but that’s 4 Alpha Golems that can do a lot of damage that likely that server is already doing well in the first place.

How was this a good idea to promote server population equality? I remember distinctly that one of the coming goals is to try and equalize server population.

Why should I stay in lower servers if stacking onto a winning server has no consequence.

I am pretty sure someone has made a similar post, and I don’t post here often, but this is worth repeating.

I don’t know, maybe I could be wrong and this does not tip the scale further.

Guild merits for an automated Scout alert/info sub screen for claimed Keeps for a limited time.

If that be the case there should be a way to get merits in wvw.

Maybe guild members get a function to donate Badges of Honor, a bit of karma and spending WvW Skill points (for those that have everything they want or literally all of the WvW skills) for converting to a Guild Merit(s).

They should have a stupidly long build time or some requirement that does not make it easy for every guild to do it, but promotes wvw players to have an equal chance to gaining these functions.

It also should be an option for some ranks of a guild to see these notices.

EDIT : Anet says that wvw is a social element, and if something is not bringing players together, then it is effectively going against that. If players are not actually playing, then it is also going against their goal. Scouting, you’re not fighting, thus you’re not playing.

Not only do you fight when you scout, you also have to communicate with the comm and other people on the map. Just because it is small scale does not make invalid or anti social. Scouts are one of the most important jobs in world, along with the people who work on escorting dolys and upgrading camps and towers. Just because they don’t follow the blue dorito does not mean that they don’t fight. You may not see saving a doly from a roamer fighting, but it is and is as important as capping that tower your zerg just opened. They fight to hold camps or retake after an enemy take. Adding an NPC action to do this is redundant and completely unnecessary. What I’d like to see is more rewards for people who do all these things for the thankless people who think world is all about running in the zerg.

Higher rewards is the easy answer.

Problem that comes with it is that the game is rewarding players to afk in the tower/keeps/garrison. How would anyone define what is a scout and what is just an afk player?

Maybe one way to do that is when a player volunteers to be a scout, they have to go to the claimer to give them self a buff that gives them certain abilities that contribute to making scouting have a game play element.

Scout Buff idea :

-Guild can research the buff, and activate it. When active, Guild member applies, and another member (a higher ranked member with permissions to do so) can accept the application all via Guild Window. The member applying to scout must go to the claimer to apply the buff after being accepted. Does not matter if the structure is claimed by another guild, but beneficial if claimed.

-Buff gives magic find, xp, wvw xp, and karma buffs that can stack with other buffs.

-Must NOT go idle for a shorter period of time or else buff will be taken away from you.

-Scout buff lasts at most 1 hour and at least 15 min. Based on player, in order to re claim the buff you have to wait double the time you already applied for. 1 hour Buff = 2 Hour cooldown for re claim / 15 min Buff = 30 min cooldown. Also ends if you die and could not waypoint within structure, thus counting as a failed event.

-Counts an event for yourself. Completed if the structure is still owned by your world at time ended, and failed if it was taken during your time. You are rewarded accordingly.

-Scout buff has limited range from the structure. If you leave range the buff will go away, thus cooldown is applied. Buff changes color from Green in range, to Yellow and Red when close to out of range of Structure.

-There can only be 1 scout per structure.

-Can be seen when opening the map up only. Otherwise Scout shows up as a different colored dot overlapped by Cmder tag.

-Player gets 2 radar traps of two options must choose before using if changed after deployment then cooldown will apply.
—Invisible traps that ping when triggered (enemy players only)
—Visible traps with a fixed range radar that pings enemies (player and NPC) for each pulse.
All the visual elements are visible ONLY to the player with the Scout buff.
—Deploy able by mortars.
—1 Min cooldown to deploy (replace) another type of radar trap, if damaged, destroyed, or triggered it will go into cooldown for next deployment for 5 mins.
—If the scout is part of the same guild that is claiming the structure then instead of 2, you can deploy 4 at a time.

Achievement ideas:

X# of Repel events during Scouting
X# of Deployed Radar Traps
X# of Hours Scouting
X# of Kills during Scouting

I would like to see a graph of players on certain borderlands through out the hours over the course of a day by day basis. This could stamp out illusions and assumptions people have about ‘coverage’ in wvw.

Then from there a detail of numbers of players capping what points, at certain times. Might help people know how many people at one time are doing something, or overlapping with a smaller group in that same zone. Also what guild claimed a camp or structure. This might be a double edge sword if competing servers can see this information, but at the same time it could be a matter of ‘studying’ your opponent.

Obviously this kind of information should be released after a match up is done.

I don’t see how knowing these numbers will make people to transfer to lower tier servers? Or change the server population imbalance
People who transfers to high tier servers don’t care about if they take stuff from the enemy while the enemy has only a few in the zone. They would even prefer it. They would use these kind off info to see when the enemy has low numbers and play on that time frame.

They care about winning. And the loot. Not fair challenging fights.

It’s about stamping out assumptions. Knowledge is half the battle.

People complain about being outnumbered, or talks about having a long queue, but when people look around there is not a lot of people actually there.

It’s only about the assumptions I am referring to at this point.

EDIT : I am also not talking about a reason for people to transfer to other servers at all.

Why can’t Living Story effect WvW? Random events, temporary event themed siege, and incentive to get into wvw regardless if winning or losing. Have events randomly ‘attack’ structures! Just anything that can break up the mundane pace that wvw slips back into during lopsided match ups.

Right now, for servers that blow out the score, they get bored of easy matchups, and losing servers just keep dying out or go into a none competitive state of mind (IE Karma Train) which is basically farming in PvE but in WvW.

I read that it is the duration of a boon (Stack and Timer Boons) will have the extra Boon Duration if my toon (character) is the source of the boon.

What about Combo Fields? Is the boon duration based on the
1. Blaster of the field
2. Caster of the field
3. Receiver of the field

I think it is most important to understand is that we want players that are willing to be in an outnumbered situation during EU and SEA. Our top competitors have amazing fights, and as it stands, our commanders from outside those time zones are staying up really late to keep up.

If you want to put your guild to the test, meet just as competitive guilds/players, and don’t want to PvDoor the whole time, then Blackgate is for you.

This is the server for you if you want to play with guilds and players of different time zones that stay up just to help you out to hand off to the next time zone. That kind of cooperation and dedication is hard to come by since the state of this game has a notorious burn out. I am talking especially about commander burn out.

To be completely honest, it’s not that we need more players. We need a commander, and that usually means they have at least some sort of organized group to back them up in time zones that are dead hours.

(Amazed that RK does not waver from sometimes getting handed to them a giant PvDoor chain, only to get blocked.)

I am sure other servers have had situations similar to having dedicated individual commanders burning out. This is unfortunately the state of the game. We have commanders that go much longer then they should because they want to sustain the score. As they keep playing they become more zombie like, would love to hand off to the next time zone.

If you look at the history based on score board, then you should know that most of the times Blackgate has flipped the score from 3rd (weekends) to 1st (weekdays) because we have that many dedicated and consistent WvW commanders. Though natural attrition of players from new games coming out and burn out. we have the jokes about how none of us go to bed because we can’t sleep well without knowing that Blackgate is being protected by like minded competitive players.

We want to go to bed. We want you to wake up without seeing a PvDoor fest.

Side Note:
As for PvE. As far as I know, we got some pretty amazing community that comes together to organize just to kill Tequetl. Blackgate is first to kill Tequatl apparently.

Also, maybe have join on squad do certain things in the presence of the commander like giving extra bonuses and/or wxp.

The join on squad has a cap at 30 which might make it better to have two 30-man zergs then just 1 mega zerg because you’re not getting the full benefit if you are not able to join a commander tag. This makes sure that if there is multiple commanders on the map people don’t get confused and the commanders can cooperate with each other without being in the same party to see where each other is at.

This might even benefit to have 1 commander for the melee train and the other commander for the ranged dps players. Tactically it can keep large groups organized.

Nothing to comment on the other stuff because it might be more complicated and makes a cluster kitten of a map, BUT I like the idea about review ranking or some sort of rating that people can choose…because sometimes you get those troll commanders that are not being productive at all.

I would rather have some sort of hud that tells me more details of structures and camps from other maps or just in the same map. Relying on other players to scout is a really problem sometimes.

I like ogre a lot and I respect the GvGers.

I don’t believe that this is Anet completely stamping out the GvG community, as it is phasing the GvG seperation from WvW. I believe that Anet’s intention is to eventually bring a new type of PvP that hones directly into sPvP but in a GvG style with no objectives and no cap to player limit as far as the players have control over. That’s just my speculation, but from what I hear from all Anet employees is how fun GvG was in the first Guild Wars.

Do you really think that Anet is going to just let the staple and title of a game that is literally called Guild Wars lose sight of a player base?

In the perspective of someone that has worked on game development, these contents that is being released is not easy to make. The time it takes to integrate new maps and modes is really long. I am positive that they can bring attention to a GvG oriented mode that might be in the sPvP or in a stand a lone map in WvW, much like how they made the jumping puzzle in EB it’s own instance.

I get Ogre’s perception, but the game has been out for only a year. The time it takes to make any large content updates is about a year, the fact they keep coming out with new content a month is pretty astonishing. (even though it PvE oriented)

I am not saying that this introduction of orbs is bad or good, but it is a response to stagnation that most WvWers can say needs to spice things up again. This gives small teams more to do then just flip camps or trying to ninja towers. 1 man roamer now can be a significant part in trolling the orb cap points and/or stomping some poor guy trying to rally to the main zerg.

If orbs are a solution, they’re responding to the complaints that small teams have little significance and how karma farming towers/camps gets boring. If they’re willing to make this big change in response, I am sure they’re thinking about and/or working on a way to bring a GvG team death match feel back in to the game.

Don’t worry my fellow WvW/PvP/GvG enthusiasts, have faith.

…Or until they openly say they hate GvG team death match and that it will never be supported in an official announcement. -_- ;

5 guys stomping 1 only gives you 1 war point. Also if you’re referring to people farming for stomps:

-if you don’t have CC to interrupt the stomp or stealthing to block stomps…they deserve the credit…and you deserve to lose. Be aware of you opponent’s buff and prepare accordingly.

-in a GvG the guilds in the first place should also be aware of the buff and stop the GvG if the buff is on, or open call it a handicap. Thus the team with the buff SHOULD NOT STOMP in respect for fairness. Most of the time GvGs are not kittens about it, and respect the rule they agree on.

-neutralize the cap areas is easy, it can be done by 1 player vs more enemies. It does not matter because neutralizing is faster then capping. If you’re capable of surviving and trolling long enough hopefully your other teammates is capping the other objective.

-also, you need to hold 3 out of the 5…that’s a lot at one time. if no one is on either of the caps they all decay over time. so it won’t be lasting a long time, because you would be lucky to have 3 minimum with all the people running around.

-holding structures is still going to be more useful in the long run for larger gaps in score.

-this orb buff is mainly meant for smaller teams to do more then just cap camps and ninja towers. Especially for those solo roamer types.

Finally:
If you’re referring to players with a second account in order to purposely let their buddies stomp them to get more points for the real server they’re supporting? Then really that’s pretty kitten ed organized to hold 3 cap points, and have enough people to stomp to tick more then a camps worth. All this, while that said 15 players could have been defending a garrison or SM that is way more then the 5 points they would be doing per 15 min tick.

So yes…I think that is a bannable offense if the players get reported.

The 6th passive to cause Radiation Field I noticed does not combo effect even though wiki says Radiation Field is a combo field.

Anyone can confirm this finding?

IMO it’s useful for it to not combo because it drops on water fields when you want to use the healing combo effect. It would otherwise over lap and interfere, but it helps that it does not do that.

Kinda more general then specifically for Mesmers.

My first questions is Null Field and Well of Corruption (Necro).

Does it have a limit to who gets effected by it whether it be boon strip/flip or Condition Cleanse? Could it be limited just by ticks per second when it pulses the effect?

My second question is about the Radiation field from the Rata Sum Rune Set.

that I noticed when wearing the Rata Sum Rune set that when it procs Radiation Field when I get hit, the field does not seem to have a combo effect when I try to blast it. Is it intended to do this?

(Personally I like that it does not combo because sometimes it will land over a water field I want to blast for healing)

Zergs are not the problem, its the culling that makes zergs hard to fight each other. Small zergs are possible at fighting bigger zergs. War Machine and Votf proves that it’s possible. I have been fights that I am clearly outnumbered, and even had the enemy culling, but STILL manage to wipe them. Lag, and fps drops the same…get a computer that does not run on a potatoe. xP

Now that the claimer has an even more powerful buff, it has made small ops even more important to flip camps and roam in the enemy territory to catch stragglers while the main army (your zerg) to get some towers. The feeling of being a small team in hostile territory that any moment a huge zerg could trample you is very exciting. If you do not like that, then WvW is not for you.

You stop zergs in WvW, you stop WvW. I am ok if the developers decide to change zerg aspects, but it will change the game dramatically if they really restrain zergs from happening at all.

In the end of the day, it’s a game. It’s meant to be fun, but if I am coming home to get stressed over stuff that has little to do with the actual game and more to do with the politics that revolve around it. Well, that generally is not a good time.

Rumors.

SoS is united and has grown to put the server first before any guild. If guild views do not fall in line with that, then so be it. They’re welcome with open arms regardless. AGG and FoE did not leave, just the key members. The rest have been united to our other guilds that they have grown to know well. We wish AGG and FoE good luck on their endeavors. We hope to have a chance to meet them in the battlefield.
