My suggestion would be to focus on exploring the old world. Harvest everything as you go (esp. mid tier stuff) you’ll need alot raw materials on your way to ascended gear. Mix in doing some of the world bosses while your at it. Search online for “gw2 boss timers” and explore in between bosses, you can get rewards for each once a day.

You might also try dropping into Silverwastes from time to time. It’s a little harder and perhaps a bit confusing at first but the rewards are very nice once you get into the flow of things. Silverwastes & world bosses are my go to activities for gold. Though you can make decent gold doing anything.

This should get you going on knocking out map completion, crafting, ascended gear, and rounding out your skills.

Tips:
-Fun is the priority so buy yourself the gear you feel you need.
-If you have some gems available buy an increase to your material stacks.
-In the long run though you’ll be best served by building up your crafting and luck(magic find).
-Research prices and drop rates(on wiki). Sometimes it’s worthwhile to buy and salvage greens/blues instead of raw materials. Even if it cost a little extra the luck is nice to have.
-Salvage every green/blue you find (use blue salvage kits).
-When you get a yellow check the AH price. If it’s worth more than a ectoplasm sell it. -Otherwise salvage it with mystic or master’s kit.
-Take the sigils/runes to the mystic forge and combine them.
-When you get an exotic check its price on the AH and the price of any sigil/rune it contains. If the sigil/rune is worth nearly the same (or more) as the item consider salvaging it with a black lion kit.
-Otherwise sell the exotic if its worth a gold or more. If less salvage with a mystic/master’s kit.
-I’m not sure if this still works but you can make extra money on dungeons by:
Trading tokens for the cheapest exotic items and salvaging them with a mystic, master’s, or black lion kit. Sometimes you’ll get an exotic inscription/insignia which sells well or can save you money with the final crafting tier.

Much bigger problem now than before. The garish oversized backpacks have really gotten out of hand. Just a global hide for backpack models would probably be good enough.

Most of the new hot affects were over the top. I haven’t seen most of the new versions so I can’t say if they went to far or not.

But the Fireball one is just comical. I didn’t even notice it for a couple days. After a few years you gloss over some things on screen and its so puny you haven’t make a deliberate effort to even notice.

Can anyone explain to me the logic of nerfing Fireball and leaving Meteor alone? It’s essentially the same animation x 10.

Plz stop spamming the pro gamer crap in game.

A middleman between your isp and ncsoft is the problem. Hops 11 & 12 are where things die.

This is your ISP: huntel-dhcp-02.sms1800.blr.huntel.net [66.241.160.1]
All the hops to atlas.cogentco.com appear to be good. Cogent is a major backbone provider. Basically an ISP for your ISP.
The last good hop is: level3.atl04.atlas.cogentco.com [154.54.12.138].
That router is most likely a connection between Cogent and Level3(another ISP for ISP’s). I would guess your problem is when you get routed over Level3’s network.

The only thing you can do is call your ISP inform them of what your seeing in tracert. They can bump things up the chain and get it investigated.

When did you problems start?
I’ve been having similar lag constantly since Tuesday. My own traffic seems to die when it leaves the Time Warner Cable (my isp) backbone.

It’s close enough in potential that you won’t notice much difference vs a power build but it’s defiantly inferior as has been stated.

If that’s good enough for you then you’ll have fun. It opens some new and interesting ways to play the class.

Why did they nerf Ele Signets even harder?

in Elementalist

Posted by: teegees.9638

teegees.9638

While I sympathize with people that had their build wrecked, especially when it was a creative one, I think the hate on signets is a little much. Maybe they’re the worst of any class but a couple of them are quite useful in some scenarios. I run with 2 or 3 signets more often than not and seldom use cantrips outside of pvp (and not always even there).

I do agree they ruined build diversity with this patch.

Oh, and counting traits that affect them is a stupid way to compare relative utility.

New trait system Good or bad?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

teegees.9638

The change didn’t nerf the Meta, It nerfed the “creative” builds. Many hours of work went into equipment and characters that is now wasted for many of us. Boon duration, Conditon Duration are gone. Ascended pistols and shortbows are useless, along with their Legendaries. Ascended armor sets now need retooled and the runes will be lost. In GW1 the cost of changing a build was negligible. GW2 was allready more gear dependant and after this patch even more so. Complaints with merit aren’t whining and our money in AND out of game should not be taken for granted.

This exactly. Nothing wrong with taking people to task when they kitten up.

Being a long time player I hadn’t even considered how the gear changes would affect those that aren’t as well established. Marginalizing newer players by making exotic/ascended gear more important then it was is probably the worst thing the devs could have done. The shallow power curve of this game is probably the #1 thing that keeps it from devolving into a an insular pack of elitist pricks like every other MMO.

Mesmer is not as fun anymore.

Second that. I laughed my kitten of yesterday when I blew up a bunker engi in the blink of an eye. But it’s not fun when its so easy. And I dislike seeing so many warrior/thief/engi fanboys invade my favorite profession.

Why did Anet remove P/P from the game?

in Thief

Posted by: teegees.9638

teegees.9638

The only thing p/p lost was a tiny bit of range, and ricochet.

So what exactly is left??? Those two were what made the build somewhat effective.

And 10% base damage.

Nothing is left but the pistols themselves.

wow! they nerf SHOUTS!

in Warrior

teegees.9638

They don’t scale better they scale exactly the same. 1 to 1.

Depending on how much healing power you ran and where you got it from (gear vs traits) you’ve lost anywhere from 10% to 45% shout healing.

Um, no. It was .9 before the patch, it’s 1.1 after the patch.
Traiting all the way into vigorous shouts without celestial gear is really only something someone would do in wvw zergs..And wvw zerging doesn’t really matter.

It’s 1 to 1, go check. .9 or 1 pre patch doesn’t meaningfully change the magnitude of the nerf.

Not sure what you’re trying to prove with the gear comment. You’re choice of celesetial build w/ full tactics is a bad choice to justify the nerf. The only thing such a build would do well is group healing via shouts. And such a setup would lose 25-35% effectiveness on that healing.

How can you complain so much about shouts when you can:

-get all the nessecary traits by spending 1 trait slot, and get a bonus adrenaline boost for free,
-have a new shout that completely refills adrenaline and heals you for more then 300 HP/second, and
-get Quick Breathing/Leg Specialist and Shrug it Off together (more shout, more heal), or slot Burning Arrows for way more damage.

Honestly, Shouts seem better then ever to me.

Then I can only assume you never actually used shouts before the patch.

There is no talent cost savings here. If you wanted healing shouts before the patch you had to commit to the entire tactics line. Same as you do now.

The new shout your rave about is a nerfed version of an old skill. Before the patch it healed 9k baseline and fully restored adrenaline. It now heals 6.5k and fully restores adrenaline. Even traited for shouts its worse than before. (And healing signet was, most definatly still is, a better heal.)

You could combine either of those with shrug it off before the patch. (And still get healing shouts too.)

Burning arrows isn’t way more damage. It’s a better skill and a viable alternative to shrug it off. A moderate side grade in the tactics line is hardly justification for a large nerf to shout healing.

And lets not forget. Anyone going for shout healing pre-patch benefitted from 30% boon duration. Which is gone and was not offset by stat changes.

I’m not sure I see what the problem is.

Just leveling to 80 will get you enough points to buy everthing. I know I just did it via scrolls with an alt.

If you’re sub 80 the traits never really mattered to begin with. You’re cut of from most of the good ones until near 80 and they don’t’ exactly make a big difference leveling anyways.

They need to fix the Honor line. It was, and still is, our only option if your interested in a middle ground between a glass cannon build and a hardcore bunker/support.

The gear boost doesn’t offset the change because vit from gear is not an option for many builds. The stat combo’s with vit are bad for anything but a bunker.

A base line health boost would overpower all the builds that didn’t dip into honor.

They need move the 300 vit on the Honor grand master traits to one of the minors (or distribute it among them). Putting all the shout, writ, and vit traits in one tier makes the rest of the tree too weak.

Defense Warriors in explorable dungeons?

teegees.9638

I wouldn’t worry about it. I would caution you that if your thinking of a tank/damage soak type of build to keep an open mind. If you let yourself get trapped into the mentality of only soaking damage/aggro then no you won’t be very useful. Good defensive builds are usually great because of of the combination good defense and utility.

On a sliding scale of group quality, higher being better.

“path x” – 10
“path x 80’s only” – 8
“path x zerker only” – 3
“path x heavy only” – 3
“path x heavy zerker or kick” – 1

It’s been my experience that groups that try to be restrictive suck and are started by people that need to be carried. Anything where they threaten people is usually a guaranteed fail run.

I just gotta laugh over people talking about endless raid grinds in WoW. You can only complete them once per week and I spend about 4-5 hours doing so because it’s real, permanent content and it’s actually fun. How long would it take me to gear one character in GW2 if I only spent 4-5 hrs a week in game?

0 weeks.

You’d have enough money saved from leveling to buy multiple sets of level 80 exotics.

What if I want to do high level fractals? Or serious WvW. You need ascended.

You don’t need ascended for WvW serious or otherwise. You hardly even need exotics.

You do need ascended for high level fractals but I would still say 0 weeks. By the time you reach the fractal level where you need ascended you could easily have made yourself a full set.

Furthermore there is nothing new at high level fractals. Anything you can see or acquire in them can be seen or acquired through other means. As such you only ever need exotic gear to reach a point where you can see and experience all the content of the game without ever having to worry about having enough gear.

if it’s true, just remove ascended.
if nobody truly needs it, why introduce it and why bis?
legrndaries were still rare and only few people got them.
and nobody had colldcted them all.

Because it’s a game and for a not insignificant portion of MMO fans chasing gear upgrades is fun in its own right.

Does anyone know..
Will the lost profits appear eventually?
If not when/how will sales start working again?
Is customer support willing to do anything about this?

Thanks.
