What’s annoying is how so many people, Arenanet included, seems to think a once a week gated thing (raids) will be the answer to all our need for variety and challenging PvE content.
Still gonna be playing those terribly boring fractals for the other 6 days. Great.

“New” FoTM is terribly boring. Arenanet tried to force people to change from Dungeons to fractals, effectively killing variety without giving us anything new. (and before some Reddit Defense Force player comes along and says “Raids will be new”, they will also be gated to once a week. What do you do in the other 6 days?)
Every encounter at 50+ feels the same, no.. they feel more boring. Bosses are damage sponges, Instabilities that make you deal less damage (Remove boons on dodge, for example), bosses hit like wet noodles..
Where exactly is the “increased challenge at the top end of things” the blog promised us?
Where is Mossman’s Dancing Axe oneshotting you if you don’t dodge it, where is Mai Trin’s static shot having a guarantee to kill you, her volley oneshotting you?
Where are the things that get your adrenaline pumping and make you feel like the King of the World for a few minutes after beating it?
Everything is boring and bland.

Torn about the new Break Bar, too. It’s “great” you can’t chain CC (but honestly, when was chain CC ever a thing in Fractals), but it’s horrible that you can’t cripple or chill any boss anymore. Kiting and playing around chilled cooldowns was both fun and rewarded more skillful gameplay.
What do you do now if you want a challenge? Before, I could do a couple of FoTM 50 duos a day, even get rewarded from selling them. But actually have fun because the content wasn’t as faceroll and you needed strats.
Now, that’s.. cancer. You can do select ones, but not all. How would you duo Grawl without being able to chill his bubble?

Again, Arenanet promised many things. Were they delivered? Nah. It’s basically Fractured 0.91.

Has anyone spotted the leaderboards yet?

Slightly offtopic but some perspective, take it as you will:

In 2013, Arenanet first promised a full rework of Dungeons. They overhauled AC and afterwards abandoned the project. Later the year, they promised a rework of World Bosses. They overhauled Tequatl, then abandoned the project. Near end 2013, they pushed out Fractured, promising an overhaul of Fractals along with many desperately wanted features that have never been added to date. They added a total of four recycled Fractals from the Living Story, then abandoned the project.

In 2014, they were working on their failure of a China release. Once it was done, they promised updates/improvements to the Matchmaking system in PvP. It was a complete failure from many point of views bar maybe Arenanet themselves. In 2015, they are still trying to fix said Matchmaking. Every other patch, they claim its fixed, yet it is not.

Exactly how believable is the promise of all that future content they are advertising, some of which isn’t even shipping on HoT release date? You decide how deep your faith in Arenanet goes, but I am getting tired of hearing people blindly blabber “they said they will add x (in this case, lots of new fractals) so they will”.
There is a chance they won’t.

The thing other games do better than Arenanet is nerfing on one area and buffing on another. Currently, Ice bow in rotation is a substantial part of Ele DPS and the reason it’s at the top. Take it away, and it may get outclassed entirely come Heart of Thorns; Condition Engineer already had sustained damage to rival Elementalist, BWE2 Revenant did so too.
All a nerf like that will do to the meta is change class stacking to whatever else has the most DPS.

Don’t get me wrong, Ice Bow deserves the nerf, but on the same page they should have done something to maybe DF or SF (ground targetting DT won’t help since any good player knows how to aim it anyway)

I’m new to EU. Have been playing on NA/Blackgate for the majority of my GW2 time, but with HoT coming up I felt it was time to return home and to a native ping instead of 300 MS bullkitten. Now I find myself knowing only a few people, so I’m seeking to expand the pool of friendship and teamwork and all these things.

I’m a picky elitist jerk so to start off here’s what I’m not lookin’ for

- A guild (I came to EU with the intention of applying to one of the best PvE guilds out there but now I’m not sure if I want to commit myself to something specific with so many HoT features coming up)
- Teamspeakboys ( I don’t have a mic and I hate hearing strangers talk over music)
- Teaching people (I’m not good at that)
- Dungeons and 5man fotm (faceroll content just bores me to death)
- Weeaboos with anime chat covers (jk jk)

Now, what I’m looking for
- fun and skilled people that like to minmax/optimize gameplay
- duo/trio Fotm buddies
- banter and people who don’t take trash talk seriously
- people that actually like this game and don’t overwhelm with negativity and constant qq

Bit about me
I enjoy dungeon solos, fotm duos and trios, Purple Miku’s playlist, long walks on the beach, Jack Daniels whiskey and pvp. I’ve done more fractals in the last 2 months than I can recount, but I’m still always trying to improve and would like players who don’t get complacent in their playstyle.
I have 6 ascended sets, 5 zerk one sinister (benefits of doing tons of fotm every day),
5 chars who have 70+ AR without gear swapping, I used to main guard, warrior, thief in that order, now I’m aiming to be a top Ele and maybe Engineer if I actually get to play it
I used to play this game on 250-300ms, now its down to 40.

Have it reward us more (and less than it does now for super-speedy runs) for runs that take longer (with a timer that keeps progress of when we actually “do” stuff). Standardize all dungeons to have approximately the same reward / time, no matter how meta or un-meta the teams are.

Hey guys, I’m an EU player currently on Blackgate and have been trying to return to my homelands in preparation of HoT
However, it seems ever since the patch that changed population and transfer cost, EU (and NA T1) are literally always full. Before, I could switch back and forth during odd hours or patches, but nothing is working anymore.
Have you encountered any way to wiggle yourself into a full t1, or is it virtually impossible now?
What t2 servers would you recommend, looking for a strong english speaking community that won’t suck come HoT

If you want to get into selling, start with P2
It has easy skips and you barely need consumables if any at all to do it on any class
I think around 30ish min is an acceptable time for a stress free p2 solo, including a bit of kitten ing around if you want to
Money depends on how fast people buy/how much competition at the time you’re selling, it can be a kitten to sell more often than not which is why many I know have stopped/just give paths away to their friends these days
If you’re in it for the money, I’d suggest Silverwastes
If you’re actually considering it for the fun, the challenge and learning it, go for it, its pretty fun tbf, and a bit rewarding when people buy spots

As for classes, p2 is alright on any solid dps meta class (noteworthy that I think any class can solo p2), Warrior if you’re new, Thief if you’re bored, Ele if you are okay at Lupicus. Condi Guard does some of the bosses (lupi) reasonably fast and reliable, Engi is pretty neat.
P3 is easiest to do on Thief imo, but terribly boring, youre literally whipping 24/7 and you need the stealth to complete the wraith event at the end (or maybe you don’t and im just using outdated strats)
P4 is for when you’re REALLY kittenING BORED with your life and have nothing else to do, its also frustrating to get into, dont do it man, its not worth it (its not the hardest just annoying)
P1 is the same as p2 sort of classes wise but you need friends/pay people to help you complete the tar event, which in case makes it less profitable/take longer.

That ts3 requirement for a 40 pug is killing me

The most fun instability, you can’t evade the explosion itself but as written above, you can dodge quickly when they die to get out of the aoe.
Last time I did this we got uncategorized and cliffside. Laughing way too much whenever someone got bombed off the jumping parts after killing a harpy

I do great DPS. and yes, torment is lacking, unless your group is willing to play content and not stack content. Confuse is awesome, especially since June 23rd.

I’m sorry, but this is simply not the case. You can play whatever you want as long as it makes you feel happy, but please don’t delude yourself (and maybe others) into a notion that you’re doing “great” DPS.
Great DPS would be Staff Elementalist, Condi Engineer. As long as you are aware of exactly how much you are giving up in favour of your personal enjoyment, please be free to enjoy the game however you like.
But oftentimes along with posts like these comes a notion of “I only do slightly/a bit/not all that much less/worse dps than the leaders of the meta..”. No. Just no.

Another thing posts like these seem to imply is that we are still in the early 2014 meta of stacking in a corner and burning bosses down with FGS? Its been a year now. Ever since the nerf it has been way more time efficient to fight bosses exactly where they spawn..

See, I grew up a simple farmer in Queensdale. When the Centaurs started their raids on my home lands, I lost everything in the ashes.. friends, family, property..
Having nothing left, you can imagine how limited my options were, how desperate I was.. no money, no one to rely on. With only one choice left, I ventured for the Reach. It was only my third time there, to the great markets where I’d sell crops and buy seeds after a harsh winter.
Exploring the grand city, I accidentally ventured to the Minister’s Waypoint, the great bank and Black Lion Trading Company.. and surrounded I was with many a hero resting with mead and bread after working hard to clear “dungeons.”

I did not understand what it was, and regrettably, my curiosity got the better of me. I asked what should have never been asked and a female human stepped forward.
She looked so frail and small, wearing scantly armor showing so much of her skin. I blushed. The scarf around her neck was striped in pretty colours and looked so comfortable and warm. On her back, a round circuit radiating blue magic.. on her head, bunny ears. And holstered at her waist, always ready to strike, something that looked like a welding torch and a hair dryer from which flowers would sometimes errupt. Her mouth and lips were very much covered in spittle, as if she’d been drooling.. and she asked: “lol u wanna farm cof p1 zerk onLy XD”
It was then I knew I had to run..
Thankfully, Logan Thackeray found me, gave me a purpose.. and now I serve as a loyal Soldier Guard with my steady arms holding sword and board. I could not be happier.
Anyways, the moral of the story is..

As far as the archdiviner condi clearing goes, that isn’t a Ranger problem. Ranger’s longest cool down is 20 seconds for Flame Trap. It’s not like Engineer where Incendiary Ammo and Flamewall have horrendous cooldowns. A condi ranger will be able to have full DPS each diviner phase.

I also think the cannon phase at Mai Trin is probably long enough for every condi build to get their cool downs back

Second Archdiviner (Cliffside) clears every time you phase
Both the Elemental and the Dredge Suit (Dredge Cage fractal) aren’t good encounters for condi, because their superheated buff doesn’t affect condi ticks.
If you’re not skipping trashmobs or get unlucky pulls, the some of the Dredge trashmobs clear condi.
Molten Effigy Champion (at the Molten Duo Bossfractal) is immune to burning.
Elemental Source (Snowblind) can’t be harmed by condi.
The Svanir Shaman in Snowblind times out your condi everytime he phases so you need to ramp up again.
Mai Trin clears everytime you phase
Imbued Grawl Shaman (Volcanic) clears everytime you phase

There are some encounters where I personally think condi is just trash, such as Raving Asura in Uncategorized Fractal and the beam cage in Aetherblade retreat, because you barely get to ramp up enough to make it worthwile, but that might just depend on class.

I live in Norway, and the fact that you experience emoticons in a complete other way does make sense to me. I’ve heard from several Americans living in Norway how unwelcoming and unsocial we can seem. Prime example is people sitting on the bus, people will go out of their way to not have to sit with a complete stranger and having to engage in a conversation.

That mid dodgeroll meme seems to be happening to everyone on +-200ms. There was a point where I considered making tons of gifs of every time that happened, but it would be to no avail anyways.
It wasn’t always like that, if I recall correctly. The feature pack mid summer last year really brought forth the mid dodges, Fire Staff 4 rubberbands, dodgerolls on spot and deceptive red circle indicators.

I hope it all works out for you, I tried using ping reducers and they barely made it any better at all.

Alright, that was actually what I planned to reply to your post. I would have said some more meaningful things. But then the word “illiterate whiteknight” puts me off. Let’s talk business here, since you were so put off by being asked whether you were just another illiterate white knight.
The definition of illiterate was already given in this thread. Here’s the urban definition of white knight!

Let’s take this into perspective.
I took the effort to skim through my VoDs because as we had formerly discerned, Skady’s way of replying could have been seen as a passive aggressive way to taunt people. For me, it was. So I post my stuff, average kills which shape down a minute. I also list a ton of reasons as to why our runs slow down to 30 minutes, and end on a statement on which probably most people can agree on: An optimized team, with optimized strats (For example, having someone on an SSD load in Thief or Engineer/Having Engineer from the start to skip almost the entirety of the Ascalonian, Harpy and Dredge Cage!) can easily take down those 10 minutes Skady was so in disbelief of anyone aside from the ++elite++ of this game doing.
My point was to make her aware that trioing fractals, even on Berserker, is not that hard, and perhaps we all need to brighten up and accept that it is not the ultimate challenge in this game.
What happened then was her clicking an entirety of two VoDs (after technically asking to compare VoDs), writing something inaccurate about my instant death video on the Aetherblade Retreat encounter, and then.. blatantly ignoring everything else I wrote in order to generalize the idea that Zerk Trios take just as long as Clerics trios. (Again, the gear and the PHIW is not the issue here, it’s the attitude.)

I call her out on it and you come to her defense immediately, not answering to my ignored post or responding any reasoning why my post was blatantly ignored. Is this not the definition of white knighting?
It was also more a question than an insult, since I hoped you’d redeem yourself from a stupid post in order to defend someone who should have defended herself.

1. This isn’t the first thread Skady has made, nor will it be the last. But believe me, people got it the first time. A Q&A is usually made when requested by popular demand. Can you see popular demand in the thread? Negative. It was merely made to remain relevant on the Dungeons&Fractals board, even though the topic has been talked to death.

2. Passive aggression to which I reply with the need to talk others down in order to self validate. To directly quote “I have absolutely no doubts that there are people out there who are really good at this game and play with other really good players for 5 years together and they can do fractal trios faster and maybe even post a video of it some day.” No, it does not take a really good team of really good players who play together for 5 years to do what she does at the same speed/more. The whole comment is just a passive aggressive troll bait.

3. I’m sorry if I may or may not seem pseudo elitist, but these sort of comments combined with the ones posted on Reddit a month ago just do not apply. Her team is not the only selling trio runs, performing them in time efficient manner. Posting passive aggressive replies like “I was always curious as to how full-zerk trio runs go. I always wanted to compare but I could not find any other trio team that could do at least 10 runs and compare times.” are simply weird, in the sense that there are many teams I’d reckon who’d love the challenge. They are easy to find, too, just open LFG and see who is avertising. Yet no one is ever asked.

Sadly I have no saved recordings of anything trio fotm related on my laptop other than a ~2:31 mossman from 4-5 months ago. It was possible to get sub-2:00 back then so it wasn’t really that good, but I will send you it privately instead of posting it on this thread.

No clue on how fast it can be done now, maybe around 1:15?

As for a full run recording I will see what I can do.

If RNG is on your side, I’m sure 60s ish is optimal for Mossman. If he doesn’t comply and doesn’t leave stealth, I’m guessing 1min20? 1min10?
My own trios are pretty much around the 1min20 mark but I don’t DPS flawlessly, losing a ton of DPS to what I like to call queue lag

2 aus players+1 eu on NA = avg 300ms, we run clutches like endure pain and arcane shield because the lag kills, our lineup isnt optimized (I use str runes instead of scholar for example), we use cheap consumables, war ele guard isn’t the best fotm comp, im not an ele main, the war isnt a war main, we have no stealth to skip and STILL the times are the same.
if anything, doesn’t that just mean we kill kitten way faster? the vods show it, we got a minute+ on uncat champs, mossman, 30-40s on timegated raving asura, probably another min on old tom.

berserker guard kills kitten faster and can tank just as well, thats my final input to this thread

the reason there is once again a discussion about this stems from Skadys intense craving for attention and self validation.
no one is arguing that clerics/anchor/whatever guard build she plays is alright to make efficient/smooth/easy runs.
what people are arguing about is her intense need to talk down on people in order to self validate, because apparently only elite level players can do fotm trios in full zerk comps.
this craving for attention along with the whiteknights coming out, spamming something about egoistic behaviour and looking down on anyone who isn’t playing zerker (the classic PHIW reddit comments) is what stirs arguments/discussions about this.

honestly I just think its really disrespectful to the tons of fotm teams selling trios in zerker gear to be constantly and publically looked down on by this clerics girl because she’s desperate for attention.

and since you’re so desperately looking for people to compare vods to, let me highlight some of my own potato quality pc recordings (taken for self improvement and reflection but honestly im getting tired of how facetious you are). ill post them later.

Skilled naw (does take an element of skill though). But I’ll repeat my challenge. Show me a video of 3 back to back 50 trios in 2 hours or less. Do that with a bunch of people that aren’t the extremely talented members of our community and I’ll shove my foot in my mouth. Reliability, consistency and efficiency are certainly terms I’d use for it considering my experience. Take Abe/Element/PurpleMiku( Just as example, plenty others at that level) and I bet they can show that up np, but outside those levels of players I highly doubt it. Skill is a factor that should be considered and with that comes ease of play. This community often ignores players limitations.

There are tons of casual teams selling fotm 50s running zerk comps. Tons of them do it in 30-35min average, depending on rolls. Including rolling. We do, too.

The only “toxic behaviour” I see is you discrediting a vast amount of unknown players the way you do in defense of a clerics guard who funnily enough also discredits them by saying things like “our runs are smoother, more efficient, quicker, take the same amount/more skill”.

I’m also pretty sure tons of these players that run fractals could easily record 3 50s trios within 2 hours. That’s if you disregard how long it takes to sell during some times ( it takes an average of 20+min to sell during my time, which is OCX prime on NA).
Wanna pay me 240g for those 3 trios? I’ll gladly record them. Because that’s what they’d be worth if you sold all spots, which is some people do.

I already have a ton of recordings with my potato PC of average 30min runs to boss finish and then an additional 20min to sell. I guess those wouldn’t count in your “challenge” though.

The cannon phase is too long and bugged with the weird indicators and invisible fields. Other than that, I love this boss and wish they’d rebuff her to where she was a year ago where the static/shadow shot was a guaranteed instakill and her volley hurt again. She’d still be fairly easy and telegraphed, but just a little bit more spicy

Not sure if anyone wrote about it already, but true tryhard soloers/duoers/(trioers without war) could prestack might, then Earth Warhorn 4 to double the duration and switch to Scholar runes.

Been selling fotm trio runs for a while on NA. If people know that they are paying into a small chance at skin or ascended chest, then I’ll gladly take their money for it.
Filling the selling spots, no matter what tier (50,40 and 30) takes around 10 minutes on average.
Not only are trio fotms FUN and slightly more challenging than what else this game offers, but selling the final spots actually makes them worth your time! You know, that rewarding feeling when you get 15g/player for a 50.

I’ll be honest and just say that you can make more gold in an hour of Silverwastes (and Pug fotm generally take an hour +). Heck, if you spend most of your playtime grinding Silverwastes entirely and maintain that easy, high gold intake like so many players do every day now, you have leeway to spend it on the big fractal gamble.

As to “people who buy the runs are probably not good players/don’t deserve it”, if I didn’t have my good team that runs trios in 30-40min on average, I’d probably just buy the runs too. Skin gambles are highly attractive to me, and I’d rather just drop 20 out of my 100 Silverwastes gold on a chance than getting frustrated over pugstrats and people who can’t find their dodge key.

Hi friendos.
I play Mesmer on NA (pinging from EU, generally average 200-300 ping) and I have noticed an increased occurance of a bug happening to me that leaves me stuck for a minimum of 3-5 seconds, sometimes even 10 or more (until I get blink off cooldown).
Note that I only spvp on Mesmer, and there this bug happens very frequently after using a very default pvp Shatter Mirror Blade into Mind Stab into Mind Wrack. Stowing or not stowing the aftercast of Mind Stab doesn’t make any difference, as soon as I use these 3 abilities in rapid succession and try to dodge or move out afterwards, or even try to dodge before pressing the shatter to add another clone, I get stuck in place.

Anyone else getting this bug? I have a theory it might have something to do with input delay and ping, but who can be sure in GW2.

The upcoming balance changes are FULL of passives that will carry the player through many situations. Just how things like Nightmare Runes (who knows if they return to flavour with Necro changes) , Transmute, Incendiary Powder or simply non-meta passives like Shared Anguish are bad for the gameplay right now (and the list of gamebreaking [read: making your build easier than it should be, breaking gameplay through simplicity] passives is long), all these new upcoming passives will just add to a boring playstyle of having your builds do the work for you.
Passive stunbreak on Engineer, passive Analyze on Engineer, passive Frost Aura on Elementalist when crit, where does it stop? Again, the list is endless and if you just look to convert all the current meta builds of most classes into HoT variants, you will see them filled with passives that take away one aspect of the game you should be in control of yourself (Auras, stunbreaks, condition immunity)

I truly hope I’m not the only one that finds this balancing towards passives disturbing.
Yes, like everyone I am hyped for the changes in gameplay and playstyles, heck, perhaps even a meta overhaul. But are all those effects you don’t have to activate and those effects that have minimal actual counterplay really necessary?
I think not.

Am I the only one wondering how Hiba hasn’t been perm banned from this game yet?
This is hardly the first time he’s broken the rules/acc shared to make “easy cash”.

Not to mention the DDoS accusations. Would anyone really put it past him?
