What is going on here?? I can play for hours at a time every day of the week but today I am dc’d literally every couple of minutes (in PvE)…..not even going to try WvW until resolved.
Tbh you should have enough awareness in WvW to not follow someone if they clearly have no clue what they are doing… just because they have a tag you are not forced to stick to them. Also you probably have regular commanders, why not have one of them tag up, join squad and let the PVE guy take skillpoints in a golem by himself or something.
Precisely my point (this also goes for the PvE side as well)
Goes along with someone saying on TS earlier stating that if you are going to be on WvW you should be on TS. I tend to agree out of ease of communication but does that seem possible at all??? I don’t think so.
Being new to WvW (for the most part) I agree there must be trust. HOWEVER, if one is to set the guidelines for the tag then all tags should be made specific to WvW, purchased (or REPURCHASED) through the new system, perhaps in the form of a Meta achiev like the one for the the tourney. They have history of your victories and defeats so the lifetime kills are easily tracked. If you don’t have the badges on hand to buy your new one guess you’d have to earn them.
I’m fortunate enough to be running with a group I like (for the most part) and they answer questions I have concerning commander actions. They welcome them openly and answer freely, truly wanting to teach. No ego involved.
I have my tag the same as you, we both bought them with the same amount of gold no matter how it was earned. For all I know the OP may be one of the commanders I left for favor of doing things I understand. If you constantly get me busted up due to stupid decisions, your on your own in my books. Willing to bet there are many others that feel the same. When the cries for help come out I may well just keep busting sentries or supply to follow another commander cleaning up the mess later.
I do not use my tag in WvW because I understand my limits. I know I do not feel comfortable as of yet but when I am I will be at the front of the pack. leading as all good commanders do. Hopefully with many victories but it is foolish to think they will all be, unlike some commanders I have seen/heard. Ask about John Wayne sometime……lol
No intent to offend any egos but in fairness, there are excellent commanders from the PvE environment as well. I have to admit I have gone from dabbling in WvW and sPvP to being much more focused. But I still have other times I do PvE, Fractals and dungeons. If a commander is requested specifically in a PvE situation, does it not make sense that once they understand the new environment they may well be just as in demand? Have you ever followed a “commander” when they had no tag?? I have because they made more logical decisions than the tagged commander. Just food for thought.
This is true but it does cut the functionality of it……
Does no good in SPvP anyway…..the timer should freeze
Aloha,
I was just wondering why my metabolic primer is being wasted while in sPvP. I’m not allowed to use food boosts obviously so why does it not only take the boost but the timer keeps going for the primer?
IE- playing PvE for a while then go to sPvP….nutrition boosts go but primer is still being consumed.
Just a quick change of perspective:
A stock trader in NY, one in Hawaii and one in London……who has the advantage trading on the open market??
NONE……they all have to base their schedules for buy/sell on the market time. It may be 6 hrs earlier for the one in HI but that means they have to be online and ready to trade at 3AM when the market opens……that may be 8PM or whatever for the person in London.
Point being, be on track with the news and willing to do what it takes or get left in the dust. Just a quick speculation
yawn tires of the word games…..
thanks for the input (again)……
GM Hald and Mr. Johnson, Thank You again for the timely replies. Can’t wait to wee the new update
I’ve noticed this as well. I don’t report often but when I do there is pretty good reason. But the person receiving the report has no idea of the happenings at the time.
One such instance was a person on WvW calling inappropriate names, I whispered asking what the issue was and after a couple of responses they disappeared. Does not make for pleasant gaming, especially when my kids are online (just starting) here as well.
Wanze,
The discussion was put forward as a question with everyone’s best interest in mind. It is not meant to be an arguing or bickering point. It’s getting a little carried away unless you are a moderator or ANet rep that can produce a valid and official answer, please stop picking at others for tossing their ideas out for ANet.
This is probably why ANet tends to shy away from discussions…..let’s encourage interaction not discourage.
Just send in a refund request to customer support.
This is the most likely answer. I did post a ticket and here is the response:
Thank you for contacting the Guild Wars 2 Support Team regarding the Instant Trait Resets.
The Guild Wars 2 Support Team is unable to provide any information regarding upcoming features or changes (like the one described for the trait reset) other than what may already have been stated in our blog posts and the information provided in our Knowledge Base articles. I have provided links below to both the Guild Wars 2 main website and Customer Support’s Game Support Knowledge Base for your convenience:

Quick question, since we will soon be able to reset traits on demand and for free (as long as not in combat) what becomes of the Trait Reset crystals from the BL chests? Are they more scrap to toss out and consider it another loss to the system or will the players that have them be able to exchange/reimbursement?
I guess I was not clear earlier. The materials one feels they are overstocked on such as dragonite ore, empy’s and bloodstone are examples. Also are things dropped form chests, etc.
I agree with having account bound items as sellable/resellable items. You/me/lots of others afraid to say so…..would like to do this but few speak out about it.
Please visit the thread in the BL Forums titled Account Bound items
I was directing the bias concerning the “hate list”
And when someone walks in my shoes they can tell me how worthless my class is……Ironically I have people ask me to join them.
I personally consider myself average and learning….as I strive for daily. Close your mind and you close your life.
Rangers are hated in PvE and WvW (they are fine in sPvP since elementalists are far far far worse than any kind of rangers in that game type):
- Because the worst class among all classes due to its mechanics.
- Because there are other classes that can much more helpful to any group/zerg than rangers in terms of damage and healing and buffing.
- Because the amount of noobs that play rangers is over 9000
- Because when you type “Rangers suck” in mapchat, reading that funny arguments of rangers is fun =)Also, my hate list is 1) Guests 2) Ranger Guests 3) Rangers.
I can see you have no bias.
One little thing to maybe curb that for you (or any Ranger hater)…..start one and play it from 0-80. You may find yourself changing your viewpoints (or at least being able to validate them from experience). This would be the GW2 version of “walking in the others moccasins before you judge”.
We hate the players that play rangers because this profession promotes poor play. And the players that gravitate towards it end up being poor players due to that.
When I say poor play style I mean the class promotes sitting behind a pet to tank and pew pewing from the side or behind the pet. So because of that a lot of rangers never learn how to be effective with their class. Moreso the class being dependent on pets the player themselves without the pet is not as effective as a non pet class.
So its just as important I would say even more important that the ranger knows how to play well. But like I said becasue this profession promotes poor play style and the drawbacks of only being half a player without the pet. Players who are in the know and are skillful often don’t play rangers becasue there are simply better options for skillful play.
Quite the superior complex there but I understand some don’t know how a little tact can go a long way (bows to you in the exalted status in your mind).
I am (as any versatile ranger is) quite capable of putting an arrow in any part of the body as well as the use of the ascended sword (oh wait, that must be for decoration), dagger or axe. OR perhaps you refer to ALL non-heavy neanderthal classes such as thief, ele’s, necromancers??
Different classes have different styles. Go ahead and run in when you are set like a tank, I’ve seen many fall, saved some and rez’d many as well. As I am sure you have if you are half the player you claim with your self expressed expertise at the keyboard (unless you are the kind that runs by people when they are down even if on the same team).
I play my Ranger most of the time. Here’s the thing with pets. If the person controls them it’s not an issue generally. I hold mine back unless I want to pull…..I’m actually pretty effective at it and honestly, person pull and go down OR pet pull and switch out?? I use and “abuse” my pets sometimes, making them do the dirty work. I’ll leave them behind while the rest of the party runs thru a mob to a safe area. It’s a matter of communicating that with the rest of the party.
Running past a pet in WvW is only the human thing to do. What is the goal…..kill the player or the pet?? Kill the player and they both go away right?? As a ranger it’s the opposite…..we’ll try to get you with the pet so we can pluck you with conditions, arrows or evasive actions.
Hope that helps a bit.
The real fun will be to see if they EVER try to sell the molten or bone picks ever again…
I’m sure they’ll sell them again. Or at least ones that mirror the same functionality. They’re selling a threshing tool that to my knowledge doesn’t have any added bonuses or features.
The most fun of all is to see if ANYONE from ANET even cares enough to look at posts that concern players……If you look at the number of responses it’s 6 TOTAL thread responses in the first 2 pages (2 of them were to close the threads ) now that is interest and involvement!!
(edited by tkarr.9152)
It’s a little sad this thread is so long, yet has never been stickied. I think that shows how about 95% of this is probably just falling on deaf ears.
I’d like seeing a list of things that were suggested here and actually implemented. It’s silly as these are ideas people would give gold, or REAL MONEY for.
Agreed…..definitely deaf ears. But hey, look at it this way……at least SOMEONE from ANet, Dev or anyone that can make a change at least looked at it……of course this thread was started 9 months ago
Actually….disregard anyone looking at it since it has been over 9 days for ANet response…..it’s another topic lost in the void.
Instead of the now mindset of:
“Great more junk I’ll just keep in my bank until I decide to quit this game.”
At least let us sell the items we do not want back to 1/2 or 1/3 their value so we can spend them on something we might like instead.
You have to understand — it does not matter to your playbase whether they paid for these things in $$$ or in game gold or even random chance from a RNG Chest. To ArenaNet this might matter, because you want successful profits for your company. To your playerbase, we don’t get a share of your profits.
So anything that seems like a loss for us in any way, hinders us from wanting to contribute to your company profits.
Gambling in games is fine. As long as we can RESELL some of it and take less of a perceived loss. (Because it is that perceived loss part, that makes your player base bitter.) Instead allow us to make a perceived profit from a bad situation. Thus, making us happy campers instead of rude, mean, spiteful players who think we’re being bamboozled.
All we want is to not be screwed 100% when they contain things we don’t want. Why can’t I sell back the prizes to the gem store at a small profit, or to other players when I clearly do not want them. And someone else might.
Heck why can’t I give them away to someone who will use them.
Allow us to have a better experience in the Gem Store. And we will use it more.
[P.S. For anyone who is about to start the you don’t have to buy it argument. Please don’t. Be constructive instead. If you bought something in real life that would give you “a chance at several different items.” Would you be able to sell some of the stuff you got to someone else or give it away in real life? Or would the police tell you, “You won that sir, you are not allowed to give it away or resell it. Because it is yours and you paid for it.”]
No they would not. They’d gladly let you go to Ebay and resell at your hearts content. For whatever you could get for it.
So I decided to learn the Trade Post Wars, and farm the TP for massive gold and do Gold -> Gems. So I could get Gem Store items without feeling like I was being laughed at for supporting a company that deserves supporting.
I too am going to play the BLTP game……no more out of my pockets.
I have seen from the ANET, DEV and MODERATOR activity on 2 full pages of forums….. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK GUYS…….you responded to a TOTAL of 5 posts!! Amazing that YOU provide the SERVICE to US in such a highly efficient manner. Such open minded communication generally results in failure which is a term I have seen associated too much with this game. I try to bring old players back in and they have negative views……I understand now.
If you’re too busy to post a reply or at least a little note that you have even LOOKED at this thread I understand. I’ve come to expect nothing but the best. Hopefully the actual game itself works properly instead of all the garbage I’ve received over the last few hours of play yesterday.
Free trade discussion again…….see topic on account bound items sales……join the discussion and let them know your thoughts.
Ok .. nobody (i know) buys these boosters, but a lot of people (i know) were waiting at least for the transmutation crystals.
again…..have a ton I’d rather sell you
Maybe you haven’t been paying attention. We’re half way through the sales and plenty of the skins have already gone up. Just because they aren’t the skins you are wanting yet does not mean skins have not been going on sale.
- Magitech Armor
- Braham’s Armor
- Phoenix Armor
- Kasmeer’s Staff
- Rox’s Short Bow
- Rox’s Quiver
- Fuzzy Panda Hat
- Fuzzy Bear Hat
- Fuzzy Quaggan Hat
- Fuzzy Quaggan Hat with bow
Also, they don’t have to put ANYTHING on sale…should be thankful they are putting things on sale at all, let alone 31 straight days of sales! Geez. And not everything will be going on sale, you know. So don’t be surprised if what you are so eager to get at a 10-20% discount doesn’t even go on sale this month.
Personally, I’ve been waiting for the Transmutation Crystals to go on sale, if they even would. If they didn’t, oh well, would buy them at regular price after the month ends. Lucky for me they did go on sale. Wouldn’t be the end of the world if they didn’t.
On the note having things on sale……imagine if I could sell you some of my transmutation crystals (I only have about 350 or so I will never use)…..as well as other items. Please see the Account Bound Item “buy back” thread for more details and feel free to interact in the spirit of free trade.
Ashadow,
Thanks for the input and support!! I HOPE BL or ANet see the logic before I decide to give up the game. My kids have taken a liking to it as well and have both asked me to buy them copies……this plan is of course on hold partially due to lack of response among other things.
I’m sure there are many many others in the same boat as you and I, I have spread the word to folks I interact with but they are under the impression that BL is in it for the company and doesn’t really care much about player base…..only player pockets. They rarely visit forums because does it really do any good (someone actually asked me that). I guess only time will tell.
(edited by tkarr.9152)
Just wondering why no ANet or Dev response??
there’s a concept…..sell things you don’t want. Been trying to do that myself…..see thread for details. Support BL, Anet by taking all your bank space.
Remi, sorry but I didn’t understand a word you were saying about keys being removed etc. I like to play the game and can’t say I know anything of the internal workings like you are talking.
Mystic, you hit the nail on the head. I have things I will keep and use, things I’ll use but not in the amount I have and things that will not be used at all. I’m sure everyone that opens BL chests regularly does.
Amen to that one
Magnus….this is true……I do not mean to imply that the items would be bought back at the full price listed, just those were the only numbers I had. I would say that a “buyback” (for lack of better phrase) of about 1/3 would be fair.
I understand the chests are a gamble……this is not to be disputed. I have items I want to keep and have sold a couple of items I was allowed to (permanent banking contract and something else)……
What I mean is would it not be beneficial to the players who would rather use gold to purchase a single item or two……so that excess can be sold or an option to resell to BL if that were to become an option.
I have 22 make over kits and 22 hair style kits but am happy with my characters from the start. That’s 9600 gems according to BL pricing. So if could sell back to BL or place up on market would leave players options both in buying and selling (or BL could corner the market by being the only ones to buy such items back minus the taxes).
Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to get rid of those account bound items that you get in BL chests but will likely not use due to your play style or being happy with the character stats/look? Otherwise it seems potentially wasted capital you could use elsewhere but you are stuck with it, can’t sell it or even give it to a friend. It sits, taking up space in your bank.
A friend and I were talking, they had mentioned it would be nice if BL could offer a “buy back” type of program. An exchange of unwanted items for the market set prices in gems, gold or other items the player may need.
I personally love BL chests and have a LOT of these type items accumulated. An example would be transmutation crystals or stones…..my stack grows at 350 crystals (keeping the numbers rounded) and I know I’ll never use 1/10th of them. I’ve transmuted maybe 5 items since I started playing. Bottom line is about 11,200 gems sitting there based on listed price from BL in stacks of 25.
I emailed Anet and they suggested I place the topic here for discussion so the interest level in such a program can be determined. So, aside from the fact that I open too many chests…….what does everyone think? Got extra stuff you can’t sell but would like to??
