Yup, today, i am the lone wolf…. Strangely however, of the 4 guilds i am currently attached to, one seems to be just fine (the one i actually never represent or care about). Main guild, off guild and personal stash is dead. EU.

Reckless and cheap nerf. You can’t nerf a class like this! You either pick burst, or overall dps, or defensive abilities or stealth or mobility! But not ALL at once!
For instance, which is the easier target, the Gaurdian who just joined the fight and popped “Save Yourselves!” or, that Longbow ranger who has just over-extended the battle-line and just blew endurance avoiding stray aoe’s?
.Well…when I ran save yourselves ikittenerg I would always get high stacks and almost every condition in the game. Such people are extremely easy targets, more so than the ranger IMO <_<

Healing is FAR too strong? Have you ever played another mmo where there is another player. The thief killed me with 2 skills .25 seconds. Does 100 take .25 seconds? It does not. 100 blades is channeling and you can escape it.
You can also dodge any skill a thief can use on you that also does dmg. Also, if you use any skill that shields you or causes ANY of our hits to miss, those go into CD and are thus lost for the remaining of the CD. If you get facerolled in 2 sec you just suck no matter the class.
First off average human reaction time I think is around .25 seconds so you can’t dodge it (especially when the person doing it to you is unseen so the reaction time takes longer than average). Use a shield on a mesmer? And you say I suck at this game? Lastly I didn’t get facerolled in 2 seconds, I got facerolled in under half a second which is why I am complaining. Thief is my MAIN and I even think they need a nerf, as well as other classes, to make spvp better.
What I am saying is a total of TWO attack skills did 15,000 damage in UNDER .5 seconds. My health is 15,000 and in NO MMO should people get two shotted in under a second.

Good riddance. Nerf Thieves into the ground so they no longer become the “go to” option for any sort of PvP. Then, after everyone has given up and goes off to learn a real class, slowly bring them back. Don’t even mention it in patch updates, just bring them back to their former glory and let the worthy players take notice.
An example of such a nerf could be +50% damage taken while stealthed.
People aren’t mad at individual thieves, a solo 1v1 with a thief usually ends in victory/ you run away with your tail between your legs, my point being the class IS NOT OP. People are mad at the HOARD of thieves, it’s a profession that works too well when you get heaps of them together. A multiple thief burst will kill anyone straight up, as well as the combined stealth capabilities. Thief works great, and is well balanced… When there’s one… But there is never just ONE.Now about your shot at Elementalists, I advise that you take your own advice and actually play the class. Burst healing is all we got, sorry we don’t just keel over after you CnD + Mug + Backstab + Heartseeker Spam.
Let alone the irony of stating that another profession should dare be able to escape, yet play one that can ALWAYS retreat. Yes, yes invisibility is not invincibility but to argue that stealth isn’t the best escape tool in the game is foolish.I personally think thief needs a buff in the dungeon department. Because really, other than Shadow Refuge it brings nothing extra to the party that a warrior can’t do better.

Sadly Vince I pretty much know it is from previous exp. …. Most wouldn’t even get to land CnD on a target let alone backstab :">. These are the ppl getting killed in a Basilisk 1.5 second window … and that to me says it all.
I never thought GW2 would implement the Blizzard way of “fixing” things.
You often don’t see it coming, can be stuck on any attack and it’s often on Steal + CnD.
No sir,,, YOU don’t see it comming as I and it seems many other ppl do see it comming and even more so, the stoneskin makes you SEE it applied for what must feel an eternity of 1.5 seconds.
I have around 1,3k hours on my thief and played a lot of different builds (my main being 0 / 20 / 30 / 20 / 0 Sword Dagger build, which is still viable) and i have to say a nerf was justified, stealth builds were really really strong and needed to be toned down.
But i disagree in how it has been nerfed, 4s revealed cripples fluid gameplay and that is never a good thing. Combat was really really fluid before this and a lot of fun but thats not the case anymore. Dont get me wrong i still love my thief and it’s definetly not broken now but it feels unfinished.

Do you know what landing an effective backstab takes? I bet you wouldn’t even land a CnD.
Play a thief and come here or GTFO.

Then, IF you didn’t miss the Basilisk (a must…enforced on the build to make CnD or BS easier) , you’d go on and CnD, if you didn;t miss that, you’d move around the target and do a Backstab (that can also miss), and all this in the time basilisk was up, dancing thru AOE maybe and in the case the target just stood there like a kitten hippo with a target on it’s back waiting for you to carry on with your amazing plan…
you srs there? Do you know the duration of Basilisk? Anet go play thief.

After about 8 total years of mmoing it’s the conclusion I came to. Ppl whine cuz they suck and don’t understand their class, even more so other classes they compete against. Rarely the matter is a subtle case of being OP. Thus -> mewmew stealth just cuz I can’t faceroll the class. Also not killing a class doesn’t get you killed.
P.S. I don’t want a new play style and new…traits and kitten like that. Don’t fix what’s not broken.
Thief was fine and Anet prolly won’t just “reverse” the nerf. So that means buffs of god knows what … given nerfing caltrops
.. it just might be buffing scorpion or 1% increased crit chance :>

As we played with the stealth changed mentioned in the SotG, we recognized that in conjunction with the change to culling this was an unpredictable change to make. We also felt that it was too big of a hit to these stealth professions, so we ended up pulling that change in favor of just increasing revealed duration by 1 second.
Errr…you say stealth professions but I play THE stealth profession. Big small difference in global nerfs tbh.
Breaking stealth means breaking the class if:
- no new defensive methods are provided or
- dmg isn’t buffed.
Also, atm I can only play 2 speccs effectively against a larger spectrum of classes and situations and that changed with this patch. GL HF with too many nerfs …. I’m done.

I don’t support nerfs, they hurt everyone. I love the fact that guardians can be played in so many ways for example, but I am severely fed up cuz I can’t play my fav class due to nubs QQing.

Sogradde. Question for you. Do you play thief in sPvP? Do you feel thief is what you enjoy in GW2 and what makes you play it? I don’t think so. So WTF! are you doing here? Atm if a thief kills you, you have NO excuse. Thief is what I want to play and if I can’t play thief cuz he became a shameful boring excuse of a class I’d rather not play at all.
P.S. I also play PVE and sPvP with: mesmer, ele and guardian. I /care about nerfing others, I care buffing thief and GTFO to all whining noobs that managed to get killed as GCs and thought that was a class being OP.
Teamkiller smells like ele … MUG nerf deserved xD … why doesn’t anet give us rotten apples to throw at targets tbh or atleast to throw at rotten trolls such as teamkiller here.
Imo ANYONE that has not played a thief at lvl 80 and in sPvP should not even be here.

I also have the problem AFTER the patch. Besides breaking the whole thief class, this is the next thing I noticed, so “Unfortunately” get to work :-L
Hidden Killer does not apply 100% crit, actually I think atm it does nothing at all. Also, backstab missing 5 times / hit w/o enemy dodging to me personally is just as good as a bug. GL HF playing the 1 viable spec left. Thank you ANET.
Anyone not playing thief should not be here tbh. Add the fact that ele/mesmer got buffed while the single fun build is defective cuz of a bugged trait + the backstab miss spam and you got all you need to quit. Atleast now CnD should apply 1 sec slow + no backstab miss or less initiative costs or smthin. Also GG on killing spike build in sPvP.
Still not fixed omfg?:| the last kitten specc that made me play this game. I won’t reroll because thief is boring and pathetic. I am fed up with nerfs and tbh, given ele/mesmer/guardian and ranger I am at a loss as to what deves were thinking besides mocking all the rest. I cba with this game.
I found 2 different bunker ranger builds that enabled point keeping thru whole match. It was kittening amazing :|

And I am sorry but the damage from a mind wrack even when traited doesn’t compare to 100B or Backstab… It just… no… not even close. Andd thieves burst toned down? I said the perks they get from stealth should be looked at…
You srsly need to play the classes you rant about …. I bet you wouldn’t even get to hit 1 backstab on your target to be honest. As for 100b, it’s timing in the skill and in the time to use it. Thats what differentiates “OP” warriors from warrior players.
You see classes very singular, imo this may be a problem Anet overlooked. The balance of 1v1 vs group fighting and the number of such skills concentrated in a few classes. That’s your mesmer right there or engie, or guardian, or even ranger. As member of a team or as solo is the problem and the way to approach this i think.
This is actually quite crazy because it’s simply a ‘Learn-to-Play’ issue. People don’t understand how to play against a class so they think it’s overpowered. This really, really shouldn’t be an issue at all. Although there are some classes that don’t have access to as much utility as others (ie. Necro stun-breaks aren’t very strong) the balance between classes is actually pretty good.
That my friend is the quintessence of today’s gaming. Also every1 on the internet thinks they can be equal with others. Just like in irl … we ARE NOT EQUAL, we should only strive for equal chances. Rest is hard work (i.e. time spent) or the thing we call talent, a “natural” inclination/know-how for an activity.
As stupid as it sounds, you only need to look at your team’s gear. If they look like hobos there is a high chance you’ll get smashed. That player is new or CBA about sPvP since he didn’t invest any time at all. Looks in this game go hand in hand with time spent to obtain them and at least in sPvP, many times that means knowing what you have to do in an arena. Imo I’d like to see a non point capping map. The latest one brings very little tbh. It’s the same stuff with the option of carrying the orb.
I dont complain about warriors or guardians, because they cant use gimmicky kitten to roflescape or stay alive forever.
Guardians have bunker. Ive been able to crack them down solo, but unlike plague form stopping 5 or 6 people indefinitely, stripa guardians stability, and you lock him down for 2 or 3 seconds and he cracks.
Warriors with their bulls charge ability? 1 STUN BREAKER, done. i cant beleive people even try to bring warriors into light.
My question, why isnt anyone mentioning how shorthanded engineers are? They bunker WORSE than warriors, and have no movement ability at all.
You have got to be joking! Just cuz you dont land your hits with warrior? xD I mean you have that lame combo that got nerfed on thief really and 2 skills to mitigate one another like the extra dmg and 10 second immune to dmg? SRSLY?! Get out tbh … :-L
Map.
The maps are hideously tiny with virtually no line of sight. Its incredibly easy to become the center of focus fire for rofl ranged cc/immobilize/chill/cripple spam to lock you down from every direction. People just need look at you and roll their knuckles across the keyboard, never having to position themselves.
The guy i just beat down and stomped comes back 20 seconds later, running across the diagonal of the map with just normal running speed whilst i am still taking on another foe.
Floating Healthbars
The same problem in WoW where players just have to look for misfortunate players to unload their execution spells on. Showing everyones hp is a major driving force for the zerging problem, where everyone bypasses the proper nodes they need to assault/defend just to chase someone who is at low health whos 5 points to the enemy team isnt worth the points lost for not grabbing nodes.
It is incredibly lame for the travelling person being ganked and for the competent player looking to win matches.
Gimmicky kitten from Classes
I see very few people playing builds/playstyles that dont revolve around an obnoxious/unavoidable mechanic.
Examples:
Necromancers who build up toughness/vit to run up to nodes, just to turn on plague form and button mash the blind, contesting it for 30 seconds, and longer since 2900 armor and 30k health doesnt take down itself.
Rangers who hide next to water or water based nodes/combat just to abuse the underwater pet heal, or only choose to fight with another person so that they can be covered in the land downed state while their pet rofl heals them back up. Or sword/dagger/shortbow rangers relying on nearly endless cycles of dodging hoping their pet can take down your hp as you frantically attempt to hit them in the middle of their dodges.
Mesmers who abuse the Sword #2 whenever they mess up a keystroke or blink into a wall. Killshot damage in 2 seconds while invincible, 25% uptime invulnerability. Also, most mesmer builds revolved around stacking3-4 stealths, blinks, position swaps, and culling abuse, utilizing a stupid high health pool with low cd tricks to endlessly cycle them with little penalty for misusing a skill.
Thieves who stack 6 stealths and shortbow warp, many of which on low cd’s to repeatedly dissapear, easily compensating for lack of good judgement for when to flee or avoid combat for a duration. Also, thieves who stack burst for steal/backstab incrediburst, and heartseeker spam to ensure their hits never miss and <50% targets go down in a flash.
Elementalists who can use various mist forms/movement abilities to easily mitigate large portions of damage and flee from any engagement. Ive seen an elementalist on Battle of Khylo go from one of the corner nodes to the base path of Clocktower in 4 seconds, all the while invincible, escaping 6 teammates. Of course, water-healing builds with incredible lame healing persecond, combined with movement abilities to stay untouched and waste your time.
I rarely get to enjoy fighting builds/players that outplay me from proper use of evading/cc/healing, or fighting scenarios where the opposing player/players escapes being killed for points by these ludicrous methods.
I think people who play pvp just to abuse these mechanics are lame and wasting everyone’s time, and perhaps a large chunk of the reason S PvP has been so unpopular since 3 months after release and onward.
It takes playing one in order to judge and understand one :p

I smell warrior
I find the engineer to be the most annoying class. I think this is not about classes but specs and options, but to indulge in this i will take a personal opinion on the matter judging by things like: the options you have to play your character, defensive CDs, time to kill and get killed, frustration factor and try to summarize it into your selected tier groups.
The tiers as I see them are like this:
Tier S: maybe ele but I am not sure if it’s ppl whining cuz they got pwnd or actual OPness. Imo classes need to work, not get kitten into 1 spec/weapon combo (like thief is as to real sPvP – daggers or bust – no SB is not a killing tool);
Tier A:
- Guardian (amazing build variety, all feel good to play, fun and effective);
- Warrior (build versatility and imba burst DMG, if you fail here, you got no excuse, 50% of all matches I’ve played had warriors on top 3);
- Engie (amazing as to point defense and fun. The knockdowns are OP);
Tier B: Mesmer, Necro, Ranger;
Tier C: Thief (I have almost zero problems to either kill thieves or make them run. A class not hitting me is not hurting me, a class not hurting me can’t take my point).
Again, in GW2 I do not find OPness identifiable in terms that some us may be used to. This is not only about what skills do (as in say WoW), its about weapon combos and wep skills, traits (atleast 3 different builds and that stats comming from them), runes and gear options! It is a much more complex equation the way I see it than simple, preset stats and a skill tree.
As far as my personal fear goes, is in regard to the type of balance that Blizzard always implemented (witch is the fastest, least expensive and time consuming and also imo not giving a kitten about your player base): nerfing skills or a class, rather than buffing other skills or classes into competitiveness (like Diablo 3 where some classes were enforced upon using 2 or more skills on every build or even worse only 2 viable specs).
I have used this example only to make my argument more clear and not to start a discussion upon the actual process. It is as I said, what I personally would HATE to see happen in GW2. Classes need to feel different not like what other games did, eventually leading all classes into having the same skills but with different names (teleports, blinks, leaps, stealth, empowers, etc).
Decide what a class does and go with that.
If I’d have to make a top using the same array of variables (viable specs, time to kill, time to get killed, point holding, dps, fun, frustration factor, etc), I’d see it like this:
1. Hard to decide and i wouldn’t say elemental just like that but I’ll leave him here just to have a 1st place …
2. Guardian
3. Ranger
4. Warrior
5. Mesmer
6. Engie
7. Necro
8. Thief

I got nothing too
two times i asked for it and i got squat! imo that’s a subtle way of getting back at the QQing player base from some devs :p. Also, it seems that if you complete any stage (or even the jumping puzzle for that matter) in the morning, and then upon moving the location (thus another stage), you also get no lewt drop. This happened to me and an IRL m8 at the exact same time. Every time we followed the above pattern, we missed the chest loot.

… for almost 2 hrs
I and as I see another player, are stuck in a finished tournament, inside the forest of niflhel, after having finished the tournament, every1 else left normally (probably by auto move to mists) while 4 players were still inside. After a few minutes of confusion, it seems only me and another player are still here. I have tried: Logging out for 1 hour, loggin other chars, leaving roster (I can still see that match’s rooster when i go to tournament tab, icon is still there near the pvp tab), upon logging another char it immediately transports me to the kitten tournament of death.
Please unstuck me :-L. This srsly should have some sort of fail safe thing it’s been 2 hrs since tournament has concluded. Cant play any of my chars since I get them stuck in there.
EDIT: Seems it “fixed itself” after these two hrs in witch I have logged other chars and got the inside that tournament server, then resumed to playing another game for about 1 hour and then came back here etc… Now it got solved by the roster icon vanishing and me being able to leave to the mists w/o getting ported back inside. The error message once I got out was: Roster not found or smthin like that. So, basically I’m solved but the bug itself isn’t. Thanks and cheers.
Hope this helps others that encounter this bug.
