Honestly I don’t understand what is going on but as of right now telia.net seems to be taking me all over the place( from Virginia to New York than to Dallas and Atlanta, there after back to Dallas). My ping has been jumping between 500 ping to 300 ping and I have also notice a change in my pathing as before after alter.net it would go directly to 65.205.119.210 (Ncsoft Corporation IP):

I don’t know if its related or not but for me 65.205.119.210 is down which would explain the routing thru telia.net. As the ISP is trying to find other ways into Ncsoft and I hope whatever the issue is resolve soon as the game is unplayable at the moment.

Verizon Fios Connection Issues

This doesn’t appear to be a Telia issue from my end. I’m on Verizon FIOS in NJ. It goes all the way from VZ to UUnet/AlterNet (now owned by Verizon) to NCSoft. The interface connection between AlterNet and NCsoft is the one that’s causing a problem for me.

hello I was just having your same issue, my tracerts were just as bad. I don’t know who is at fault if anet or Verizon(though the high MS is always at nsoft servers like you), but last time I had this issue; it was after a big patch. After calling Verizon they change my IP and everything went back to normal. Today I was having the same issue as you and decided to change my IP and sure enough everything went back to normal.

This has happen three times total, either after a full reinstalled of the game or a big patch and for whatever reason either Verizon or anet is causing high MS (throttling). However just by changing my IP address the issue is resolve, my MS goes back to normal and I am able to play again. However again the MS is only high on nsoft servers when this happens.

Constant Lag spikes

well I was playing for 4 hours with no issues on primetime now and suddenly started getting hit by lag spikes to the point the even my tp wont load. This started at 8:50 pm hardly prime time, so I cant blame ISP.

EDIT: I can only say the anet is having server issues, which seems to be affecting me and a few people in my guild and yet not everyone. Wonder what really is happening since this issue has been happening to different people through the pass 2 weeks.

This would happen to me before, either the download would be slow or stay at 0kb. However way back this fix worked for me so you might want to try it, it was posted by kilam but it might not work.

Instead of setting up a VPN, try this workaround:

Edit C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts using notepad (run as administrator)

Add this line at the bottom:
174.35.56.164 assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com

Save the file. If Notepad prompts you to save as a new file, you need to start over and run Notepad as administrator.

If you have the GW2 launcher already open, restart it. If this still doesn’t help, you may need to change the address above and try a different number (e.g. assetcdn.102.etc..).

You may want to remove this line later when (if?) they resolve the networking issue.

After sending 8 or so emails back and forth to GW2 Support team (although nothing but a VPN helped, you guys were great and responded quickly), I again contacted Verizon, I shared screens with them and ran the tracert to show them how the data packets once sent to from my PC -> ISP ->ISP ->“0.ae2.XT3.DFW9.ALTER.NET” -onward – are bounced around a few times until eventually continuing to the ncsoft servers. Verizon said they can’t control the current path the data is being trafficked and that particular server probably has a firewall or doesn’t accept those packets, so its bounced around some until there is a server that accepts the data and continues its networking route. This should explain the lag I get in game, but there was no solution offered on their end. I guess I can only hope the networking path changes sometime soon.

You will probably have to get them to put you in touch with one of their t3 technicians rather than their costumer support as they would be able to look more into the problem (the higher you go the better, Verizon’s costumer support often doesn’t know what to do besides telling you how to troubleshoot and look into simple network issues). Given alter.net belongs to Verizon there should be no reason for them not to be able to do something.

Around noon EST everything for me return to normal, no lag or skill delay of any sort(though trading post is loading slow or not at all). My route also goes through this alter.net and I am having no issues with it but I live in VA, with the storm up north something might have happen to the lines so packets might be getting lost all together. If VPN is working for you the is great (many on reddit have said VPN has not work for them) but keep checking the route since its not fun to pay more for internet.

Well lag for me has stop I can now play the game normally again, pve, pvp and wvw. However now trading post wont load or takes a long time to load or to do anything on it, when before trading post was just fine.

I have Verizon FIOS in VA.

My issue lies with Verizon’s current network pathing to ncsofts servers. Soon as the packets go from their server in Newark NJ to this one “0.ae2.XT3.DFW9.ALTER.NET” there’s 100% loss. I contacted Verizon. They were useless as usual. I suggest you all submit tickets.

By any chance would it happen to be this one?

for me this path is working fine currently, sometimes it can spike on MS but nothing out there. However nsoft server for me is always reporting a 100% packet lost.

Most games I play take the alter.net server path but are currently not giving me any issues, but giving to the storms we been having I wouldn’t put it pass them to have some issues. As of now my only issue along the path is with a Nsoft server listed above.

I am still having this issue and is getting kind of old after 4 days, anyways I decided to do a ping and tracert today and found the one of nsoft servers is losing 100% of the packets. I don’t know if this has anything to do with the issues we are having, but it is the only server along the path which I had any issues with along with a high ms for it.

Like the other people, my problems started 2 days ago. However I have yet to disconnect but the game skills will stop along with everything else, some times this latency can last for up to 30 seconds before everything goes back to normal. The latency or lag happens randomly and in any game mode be it open world, dungeons, wvw or pvp. However this only happens with guild wars 2, I have tried -repair, deleting local.dat file and a few others but I still have this issue, after doing a tracert I found no issues along the connection.

Selling on TP

Well since the latest patch to fix crashes, I came across a minor change or bug. Usually when selling the same items, if I already have something up for sale, I would click on it to pick that price and all the same items in my inventory would be selected up for sale. However since patch when you do this only one of the items you have will be selected, while it can be change just by moving your mouse or listing the amount; it is rather annoying to me.

There for I am writing since I want to know if this is a bug or a change? since it was not listed on the latest patch which fixes server crashes.

I remember a month ago getting rewarded karma for running fotm but recently I have been running a fotm at least once a day for 10 days and I have not receive any karma from them.

Has the karma reward at the end of the 4th FOTM been remove? or is there another reason why I am not getting any from fotm?
