What is natural for non-human races though?
Lol. Well, from the pictures in this thread, it looks like hair extensions are considered natural.

However since ANet hasn’t specified styles for Asura and since Oola shows the styles can be elaborate, I would say just about anything goes.
Uh, yeah those are senegalese twists they’re a protective hairstyle for women with natural hair…
So you consider that a natural hairstyle? mkay
I don’t think you understand what I mean when I say “natural hair”. We have plenty of relaxed, straight hairstyles in game, typically this is attributed as “white people hair”. Black women who want to achieve this look use hair relaxers to make their hair straight like that. This typically damages their hair. However, when she wears her hair naturally (i.e. no relaxers) it takes on a soft, curly, kinky texture. The appearance and style changes depending on her hair care regimen. This is what I mean by natural hair.
So this ‘natural’ hairstyle is achieved by exposing it to artificially created chemicals, ok.
Also I’d like to point out there is a difference between “Natural hair” and “Natural hairstyle” as you seem to use them as if they mean the same thing.
Natural hair simply means the hair is real hair.
Natural hairstyle implies the hairstyle hasn’t been significantly altered (artificially) by accessoires, knots and chemicals. Or at the very least creates the illusion it wasn’t altered.Did you at all read what I wrote, dude?! I literally said natural hair is achieved when NO artificial chemicals are used to care for the hair. When I use the term “natural hairstyle” I am referring to hairstyles that women who wear their hair naturally can achieve.
Ah so the hairstyles you showed do not use relaxers. My bad then.
Yes, lol. I suppose I should have been more clear to begin with but I was only using vernacular commonly used in the context of naturally kinky, curly, springy hair.

Yes, those senegalese twists ARE a natural hairstyle. I’m not saying women don’t use hair extensions to lengthen it, but women who do wait for their hair to grow out can pull off long, thick twists like that without the aid of extensions. This is also a protective style, worn by women with kinky hair who want to prevent breakage and split ends while growing out their hair.
So my answer is, yes this is natural, m’kay.

I second this! I would love to have a pixie cut for norn like the humans have! Or just more short styles.
Well, I guess but I’m talking about stuff like this:

Really happy with my mix and match.
Love the second one, what are the pieces?
I had a similar issue when I got an armor skin and support graciously made a concession for me, hopefully they can help you out too.
Yes! Would love a system like this. Perhaps there could also be some kind of competitive server wide aspect to it as well, not necessarily PvP but some kind of Order ranking.
Why have more asura hairstyles when we can be tables now?
I mean, obviously that’s dope as bobba but I want natural styles for ALL races
Right now all we have is the standard long locs for Norn female, those goofy afro puffs for Asura female and the piled locs for Asura female, and I think it’s a shame that that’s all there is (unless I’m forgetting stuff).
I would love to see stuff like Senegalese twists, inverted bobs, long and short blow outs, bantu knots, non-cartoonish afros, wash and go hairstyle, etc. etc.
Please ANet!
Maybe they could just make them smaller? Personally I don’t mind the look of them on males, but that size! they’re just so ridiculously huge! it just doesn’t make sense! Why does the male version have giant clown shoulders and the female one looks fine?
I wouldn’t mind that either! Just anything less intrusive than right now. They clip horribly whenever my character does an idle animation and they look ridiculous while he’s running.
Not gonna write a book, but I honestly like the shoulders. It’s one of the few outfits that takes a stance on armor that would be worn in battle. Not saying a toggle is bad, would be great, but I doubt anet has time/cares to do it though.
Bottom line, if your looking for something else, get something else.
Well, I’m not really looking for anything else. Most medium armor is pretty ugly, that’s why I really like this outfit, save for the shoulders.
To an extent, I agree with you. That episode was a perfect opportunity to explore the secret Caithe was so desperately trying to keep. So far, what we got is but a glimpse in that she attacked centaurs alongside Faolain in an attempt to bring Wynne back but not much else until perhaps the next episode. If they are going to make players wait til January to finally know what her secret was, then it better be something really REALLY juicy. But I have a feeling that many lore nuts (including me) may have already guessed what it may be.
It’d have been much better for the secret to be revealed last episode, and have the next one be us basically figuring out how to deal with Caithe.
I agree that it probably isn’t that difficult to separate. Thing is Anet, have a tendency to just move on with the next thing rather than look back and fix things tha have come up. While it is probably an easy fix, they probably don’t see a need to fix such a small issue, and would rather use time and resources, however little, on something new. Ultimately, there have been a myriad of issues players have had in the last year, and Anet have been slow in addressing a fair few of those, and many are still unaddressed. Traits, condition cap, some issues with wardrobe and megaserver that have now faded into obscurity, and the functionality of this site (which didn’t change at all with the recent forum re-organisation) are a handful of them. Nothing tangible has come of them. Perhaps this is more likely to be worked on, as it is an easy fix, but Anet probably don’t see it as worth the hassle, or worth the fallout that such a small thing got fixed but the bigger things remain untouched. I do hink with these issues Anet are a tad too forward thinking.
I just don’t get it. It’s clear that many people don’t like the shoulders and if it’s a fairly easy fix to make them optional then why not? I can’t see it hurting anything.
Being able to look how you like has been one of Anet’s philosophies in this game and it’s upsetting that they would force some big obstructive shoulders on people. I dunno, it’s just very annoying for me because that outfit is so close to being perfect for me and it’s just… so close.
So I’ve been grinding pvp for a while now to get the medium glorious chest piece and when I finally got the box I got too excited and selected the heavy chest piece instead of medium. I know this is a very slim chance but is there any way to swap that for the medium? I hate pvp and was just doing it for this armor piece so the idea of having to do all of that again feels very daunting.
I’m pretty sure if you toggle your actual armor’s shoulders, the shoulders on the outfit will disappear.
According to previous threads on the same topic, the Shadow Assassin outfit is an exception to this.
Also highly unlikely this will change, given how it is an unaddressed complaint since the day it was released.
So others have brought this up too? I tried searching but no results even came up for Shadow Assassin outfit.
There have been threads before, albeit not all that many. The search function on this site has all the use and functionality of a chocolate teapot. Even annoys the hell out of certain Anet representatives, but as with everything, there isn’t much hope for that being addressed anytime soon.
:( It can’t be that difficult to implement I mean they’re clearly separate from the rest of the armor…

I’m getting a little sick of the sylvari. First Trahearne, then Scarlet and now Caithe and the Pale Tree. They’re starting to become a creator’s pet.
Please! This outfit would be perfect if not for those huge, ugly shoulders getting in the way. Why can they not be optional like on normal armor?!
