And another comment that goes against the core design of the game.

Pretty much.

I don’t know how big the “hardcore playerbase” is, but I hope they don’t listen to them.

Smallest, yet the loudest.

First of all i want to say this game is AMAZ?NG.

But,
Pve and pvp content is not enough for hardcore players.

After headstart, i am lvl 80

world map is %80

fully exotic

crafting 400-400

also i have citadel of flame dungeon set.

Now, i am trying to join wvw to kill some newbies. But its impossible.I am waiting about 3 hours to join wvw.

Spvp is awesome for casual players. We need a area that we can take our reward with our own items.

The biggest bullkitten in guild wars 2 is, legendary items are in same strength with exotics.

Listen your hardcore players arenanet.Or this game will blow after 2 month.

Actually they don’t have to listen to any specific niche. “hardcore” as you like to call yourself, is by no means any kind of majority and far from the typical player who spends money on the exchange. So you’re not even that important to the income the game generates.

My advice is to do some research on these games before you invest your money and time.

Your opinions: Which race has the best starter zone?

Queensdale is perhaps the most convenient of them all, but also sort of a boring aesthetic. Whenever starting a new character, I take them to Queensdale for leveling.

Plains of Ashford, hands down the best in design. Nice atmosphere and second only to Queensdale for its layout.

Wayfarer Foothills and Metrica Provice would be a toss up for me… Both have their ups and downs and I usually choose either for my third starter area to complete.

Caledon Forest is just horrible in about every way and I avoid it.

Sometimes you just have to stop and think if grinding dungeon runs was ever fun to begin with.

Working on achievements and map completion, doing WvW from time to time and working on two new characters.

DoT’s can’t crit. I guess thats answers more than your question.

Wow! Really!? But that’s rubbish… I wanted to go 100% crit on my (to be condition built) necro and do the trait with siphon health on crits…. Man I feel dumb now… :/

Yeah I got %103 crit chance on my warrior and I went to my bleed build and pfffffffffft. Basically just stack +condition instead.

I can't get over token farming

The problem lies with the attitude of the players and not the game. The “I want this now mentality” is bad for this type of game. Yes someone spent 4 days farming for token or so to get what he wanted asap. But could this not be something you could take some months to achieve and split it up rather than doing the same task over and over again.
Take your time.

I think the concern is that something you should have to work hard to get can also be fun. Alien concept I know.

So for a non hardcore player like me, without a headset – the rule would seem to be: GW2 dungeons are not designed for you.

Right. Sure, it sucks having to listen to a bunch of strangers go on and on about random real life crap (especially if you join a guild with a bunch of real life friends, or a guild from previous games). VOIP sucks **** in so many ways and is an annoyance. However, if you want to do instances, suck it up and join in.

Effectively, group content is the new raid content. Not sure if that’s a good thing, LOL.

Like the mouth breather above said, even his “girl friend” can do it, so certainly you can too.

Yeah i’ve been having a lot more fun joining the pugs with 4-6 people in them. Teams get unbalanced pretty often though.. when there are only 5 people whoever has the 3rd player is at a serious advantage.

I just can’t wait til they give us a “join as party” option and let us play with our friends for an entire sPvP match. :’(

Problem with joining as a party is, to do it right, they have to limit the queue so that people who join as a party only play against other people who joined as parties.

Otherwise, it would just be a cake walk, which is why PvP sucked so hard in Rift, for example.

If you grind dungeons for tokens, then you’re just propagating bad game design. In effect, you’re hurting yourself and the rest of us as well.

The trick was knowing that there wasn’t a traditional end game to begin with, thus saving you that rush to 80. That said, I guess the closest thing to do that’s “traditional” is to grind explore modes. Even if you don’t care for skins, that’s all high end gear typically is anyway. Also, aren’t there high level zone bosses?

How are Dungeons meant to be played?

I do the dungeons with friends and guild members only, with Skype or TS. They’re a lot of fun and I love the difficulty level. I’ve done enough WoW pugs to be of the opinion that you couldn’t pay me to pug GW2 dungeons. But that doesn’t mean I think the dungeons should be changed – if they do get nerfed they’ll just become boring.

In short, if you’re finding them difficult my advice would be to join a guild and check your build and the builds of those in your group to make sure they’re optimal for the task.

That’s the best advice. If you’re not willing to take your commitment to the game to the next level (get in a guild, get on VOIP), then move on. GW2 was not made with PUGS in mind (in regards to dungeons). I know there are a number of reasons why one would be uncomfortable with VOIP, but thems the breaks.

Having a hard time targeting

in Players Helping Players

wintermute.2047

I’ve played almost every mmo out there(except asian ones) and i don’t remember i had a problem with targeting in any of them.
I am constantly losing my target during fights , sometimes my target just disappears during a channeling spell and i have to double check every time i target someone. is there any kind of sticky targetting in this game?

Ha, yeah I noticed this too. There’s no option to disable target loss when clicking on the ground. I looked all over for it, just not there. Just takes an adjustment to how you play.

Are you going in with a PUG or an organized group of headset wearing bros? If the former, I don’t really think you’re intended to be able to afford doing these.

This.

I would avoid PUGs in this game pretty much completely for dungeons.

Exactly. They should just remove the ability to group unless you’re guilded. I think a lot of people are getting the wrong idea.

The 5 mans in this game are brutal.

I don’t mind the challenge, getting smashed over and over by trash mobs. Working together to figure things out what the best way to go at things are. Stuff like that is fun.

However the repair bills are not fun. I have had some huge repair bills and I am just plain running out of money. The risk/reward of the 5 mans seems a little off.

I quest, use the TP, and try to do other things to make cash but one run in a 5 man wipes out an entire day of earnings.

Seems the content is intended really only for guild groups (people using VOIP) and not so much for pick up groups. If you’re not willing to commit to the guild lifestyle, I’d probably pass on PvE instances.

Even story mode (which you would think would be tailored more towards PUGS) really isn’t worth doing more than once. Get your hat and move on.

Also remember that outside of the challenge, there’s no real need to do explore. If you like skins and crap then sure, but for most they’ll do it till they beat it and move on. Some will do it repeatedly because they don’t know how to do anything else.

Can’t pull as far back as some other MMO’s, but I’ve adjusted to it fairly quickly. One thing I do miss is the ability to adjust the field of view. That’s one thing that I still find annoying.

Once the TP is back up, butter will likely flood it and quickly drop in price. I’ve still yet to find peppercorn though, haven’t had it drop from any bags (and I’ve opened many).

Just decided to try cooking and I’ve ran to every city hunting down every merchant trying to find black peppercorn and so I guess that was a waste of time. Being in loot bags (if that’s the case) puts it in hands of luck, which would explain why in an hour of farming for bags I’ve found no ingredients outside of a single jug of water.

It may be intentional, but it’s effectively a bug.
