In dungeons or w3 pet are useless, simply because they die in a flutter of a fly… I use the pet in passive mode and he attack only when I decide he could, I retreat him as soon as I see him taking damages that he can’t stand, I change before my pet die and even use unnecessary heal just to keep him alive. And, he still keep die in AE before I can retreat him… Against every boss or zerg v zerg I had to play without my pet for way too long time. Pet could be improved… A lot. And still, I maintain my opinion that we should be able to choose wether or not to use our pet.

Returning on OP topic, scouts ability were cool. Who knows, maybe in a future we will see scout #4 on our longbow, or even better on a crossbow as another one propose.

I just said that we should choose like we could in gw1… What’s wrong in being able to choose how to play your class?
And, does Aragorn had a “mighty” bear who followed him?

They are not going to remove pets.
Forget it.

This is a pet class. I mean, it’s the same thing as creating a thread in the warrior forum saying: “I DONT WANT TO USE GREATSWORD BECAUSE I DONT LIKE IT AND IT IS NOT PRETTY. REMOVE IT FROM THE GAME.”

Wait, wait, wait; take a breath and do peace with your brain (no offense). A warrior can change weapon and still do a pretty good amount of damage; and, a warrior can chose if he like using a gs or not then change it… We can’t! Our pet “should” do from 40 to 50% of our dmg and he doesn’t! We can’t say “well, I dislike being a bm, I’m going to do more damage with my bow without a pet”, ‘cause we are linked to a pet that’s “supposed” to be there and work, but he doesn’t! I mean it is so frustrating for you guys if we ask for a little bit more open-choises game?
In the end, put it in your mind that since gw1 rangers weren’t a “pet class” only, they were also a pet class; which means you could choose wether to be a marksman or a beast master. We’re asking for more choosing option, nothing more…
Surely, I’m the first who yell “patch this kittening pet!” ‘cause if he could work as intended he’d be an awesome option, but we’ll love seeing him as an option!

Snowball Mayhem scout sniper shot for ranger

@Italyguy, your proposal is cool, but a crossbow doesn’t need do be overcharged so i would rather see a “more long you press much better it is” on a longbow. Anyway, having a crossbow would be really cool!

My Take on the Pet Situation

I do indeed agree with you. A trait that will give the pet will reborn gw1 ranger doing that in a more logical idea.
We will have a good pet or not having him at all, that’s fair enough to give you a +1. Plus there will be more ways to play a ranger.
(Imo we will not see this at all, due to dev’s philosophy, but… Who knows!)

Dual Active Pet Trait

in Ranger

“Persistence (yeah I named it): When swapping pets your first pet will remain in battle for 5 seconds but be uncontrollable. If the Active pet skill is not on cooldown it is used at the end of the 5 seconds.”

Basically on pet swap you have both pets for 5 seconds. The pet you swapped to would be completely normal but the pet you swapped out would just remain and do whatever the AI wants it to for 5 seconds. If it dies before the 5 seconds is up it has no effect on the swap timer and if it lives out the 5 seconds, great, it will use it’s F2 ability if you didn’t manually activate it and put it on CD. (might be a little strong with birds though)

Good one!
Personally i do prefer this trait to the op proposal, because this is quite fair and balanced.

Pet overhaul

Haven’t you consider this?

I created a new topic just for this specific implementation of Sang’s Animal Spirit idea. LOTRO had a similar problem with the Captain pet class and was able to implement both pet and pet-less. Here is how ANET might do it:

1) Add a 3rd option to the toggle just after F3: Guard, Avoid Combat, Spirit Form.

2) When a pet goes into Spirit Form, it gets the same ghosting that the Ghost Strawberries from the Halloween event provided to players and uses the same AI as Avoid Combat (it stays next to the player).

3) In Spirit Form the pet does not attack and the F2 skill is transferred to the player.

4) For each different pet type, the player gets a particular set of boosts to his/her Attributes to compensate for the loss of DPS, aggro, attacking multiple targets, etc.

That’s it.

Idea to fix rangers: Stow Pet Change

in Ranger

wrango.2590

Imo this is quite fair, I mean ANet theorized at the beginning two classes (warden and marksman) and then melted them together…. Why can’t we still chose between these two classes?
Well the option to be a lonely hunter with stow bonus or a pet based ranger, suits this…
+1 from here!

Ranger and rifles

wrango.2590

Well, a ranger uses a bow in literature just because in LotR an others there isn’t the right technology… In GW2 we have that, thanks to big kitten chars. So why don’t use it?
We should be the best in aiming, and a rifle need to be aimed if you wanna hit the center.
I saw a good proposal from Beet:

Auto – 1200 range, applies a 1 second Cripple every third shot
2 – 1500 range, applies 5 stacks of Vulnerability, Cripples
3 – 1500 range, applies Blind, your pet’s next attack has 100% critical chance
4 – 900 range, cone, 1 second fear
5 – 1500 range, high damage, 100% critical chance against enemies with less than 20% health
20% cooldown reduction trait in Marksmanship T1
Increase the 5 ability’s health % for critical chance to under 30% health in Marksmanship T3

Imo, we already have a vulnerability attack, what if attack 2 is: “Aim libs” 1500 range, average dmg, weakness OR cripple for 10s

I was just thinking, how do you see us with a rifle? Since we can use harpoongun underwater I can’t see why we cannot use a rifle on land…

I’ve been doing some testes with the condition duration, and seems like the trait Napalms Specialist “Bunrs you apply lasts 20% longer” is not working as it should.

+35% Burning duration should increase the number of ticks from 9 to at least 12 without the proc, and then with the proc it should be 15 and not 14.

Hi there!
Can’t understand the 9/12 or 15/14 ticks… It is one tick per second… So, f.e., Incendiary Powder apply 2 seconds burn which are 2 ticks… You have to increase the condition duration by at least 50% in order to have another tick: 50% of 2 is 1 second so 1 tick. And this work, tested on golems for quite a bit 15 min ago: three ticks from the talent. I have +10% from traits, +15% from runes, +20% from talent, +10% from sigil which actually is +55% condition duration.

Question: Will there ever be a native OS X version?

I do agree with you my fellow mate!
I have a mid 2010 book pro 15’ (the best of HD setup at its time, so still pretty good) and I can run GW2 on BootCamp with medium/high graphic without shooting… On OSX 10.8 I had to run the game in low/medium and still I have a low FPS…
ANet I do appreciate the initiative but… If you have to do something, do it right; we don’t need and don’t want a bad copy of a windows game…

Found this bug:

Subject: Elixirs-S
Bug: while under the effect of Elixir-S (which doesn’t benefit itself from the cooldown reduction trait, already known bug) the cooldown of other skills used during the transformation does not benefit from the cooldown reduction of a respective trait.
