There is currently a bug with all NPC damage in PvP being higher than intended. We are shooting to get this fixed before the Tournament of Legends.

Don’t think that Guardians want to be overpower. Also, just like you think that guardians shine in many aspects, that’s not necessary that they are the best at it.

Rangers and Necros are somehow lacking in presentation in some areas; And the fact that guardians roller coaster wasn’t much since the beginning. I will give you that thou.

You do know that presentation is not how good the profession is right? Guardians are not FotM rolls or something (most of them anyway). And which profession isn’t good in more than 1 btw?

Shield’s 5 wont be overpowered, cause it is situational. It will be “good” against certain things, and annoying. And what 4 blind thing?

Also, they can like give us in Scepter specialization (along with the 10% damage)some “behavior” change, like Scepter 1’s now explode on impact. That wouldn’t make the Scepter overpowered, but it will make it cool in a way.

Theoretically Scepter could be made to have a symbol but that will leave the question of what kind of “boon” will it gives? Also remember that the damage will be “changed” accordingly. Sword thou is clearly isn’t made to have symbol in the first place.

I will let you know if they become killable or not when I see them^.~ And speaking of blocking, when are they fixing our shield? We want it to be something awesome. 5 is okay just need some CD reduction but guess that wont be happening since it might “go into being overpowered”. 4 is totally crab thou, re-work it into something good.

Hehe, which we are getting nerfed directly and indirectly while giving us useless traits^.^ (Don’t get me wrong, I think that tons more useful traits even if situational should be added). Also don’t forget that warriors also blocks, heals and stuff as well^.~

Edit: I killed some warriors before the patch also, that doesn’t make them normal or something. Some people just enjoy playing, so they play the way they want instead of how devs or something wants them to play.
Disclaimer:And to be fair, I haven’t played pvp still since the patch.

Since you are on Guardians sub-forum. I will start with, a lot of people confuse Warriors survival-ability with Guardians, since they both use heavy armor.

Guardian is the most balanced class, it shines in PvE as full zerker damage dealers with good survivability. It shines in WvW as support/ backbone of the melee train. They shine as roamers as zerker meditation specs. They shine in sPvP as bunkers.

I love your logic, so warriors are the most balanced class cause it shines in many aspects in the game; Therefore all professions should be brought to its level.
Sometimes I wonder if people believe the things they say or just parroting things they heard around.

Builds? What are you talking about? We are imperfectly fine, you can use spirit weapon and burn at the same time. BOOM solved all your spirit weapons and condition build problems.

Forgot to mention that my bow’s skill is sick. I can clean a whole area with a single click, sure I need to take out my bow first but when I do, it is the end…PERIOD.

See guys (n girls) that why you are complaining, you still haven’t managed to how make the perfect build when it was so obvious. Also, if you used F1 when you are using yer hammer you wouldn’t be complaining about CCs. Our damage clearly reaches over 9000 in one single hit. I don’t know what you guys are complaining about. My spirit weapons always with me, protecting me, and killing those trying to kite us around.

True, we might still be able to solo things by using other things that will be given to us (might). With all the complaints about Guardians being OP in PvE, we knew that we will be getting nerfed. I am still trying to find some GM trait that I will be using but they don’t seem to fit in anything hehe.

Also, pointing out that its not the first time that some dev trying to tweak something and end up breaking it in other areas, its obvious that the nerf comes from PvP; However it is easy to make an excuse/justifying it in PvE.

And if we are to be honest, the new traits are so good that I want to use all of them at once. I want to create the ultimate warrior 30/30/30/30/30 (that will change of course^.~).

Yeah but its not just dodge; Even the healing we get from rolls will take an indirect hit. Aegis is nice, but you cannot always count on it. Also from the new trait of blocking producing blocks for the guardians, they said that it wont for the one who triggered it.

Me guess that they are trying to bring down our survivability (for whatever reason they have in mind). Protection is nice but sometimes you need to avoid the damage, like soloing Mai Trin for example.

As you guys know, that Vigor will be “tweaked”. Now, I don’t mind a justified nerf, and all but that will hurt “Guardians solo-ability” by tons. We are not getting something instead.
I enjoy soloing stuff/dungeons/champions on my Guardian, but what are your thoughts about Guardians and soloing stuff after the patch?

You can go meditation build and use sword/focus, it will work for killing things fast and 1vs1.

EDIT: and you can use a torch also^.^ More burst that way.

I know but there is only one other build that’s dps (that uses GS just to be clear)hehe, condition burning is yet to be confirmed (maybe in the next patch).

What do you think guys is better in sPvP? Normally a meditation build would have the upper hand (if they are fighting against each other)as they can just keep spamming their skills and eventually GS will run out of things (healings and defensive cds). But what about if they are fighting different professions?
What do you think about both? And in groups fights?

Generally speaking (and WvW), there is a limited of number that can be hit with things/skills. Making it much harder to kill targets when they are in organized “zerg/blob”.

In sPvP, standing on the capture point while the enemy raining you (Elementals or Engineers) will usually leave you a corpse before you even know it since most capture points are small. Only someone capable of “bunkering” and tanking damage are going to sit on that madness. I don’t know how many bunkers do you see everyday.

PvE, yeah monsters usually dies too fast to pose a threat. But long range have it safer in more situations than melee. I’ve seen a lot of people not dodging or rolling away from damage also.

While I wouldn’t say that they can do more damage being afk, but yeah sometimes trying to reach targets can be a waste of time. You have some good points. Monsters in dungeon usually dies too fast to pose a threat (as mentioned before). In living story, usually its more chaotic than organized event, but it is getting better in a way.

Pretty sure that many are aware of such existing things, but are you trying it on target dummy or what? You make it sound like its a “curse” you cast, and vowala countdown is starting. When are you going to apply your “burning” effect?

That’s somehow balanced (it sounds at least), but how would you implement it on another professions? Like Guardians for example, since their range isn’t in the top ranks.

Yeah skills are too spammy at the moment indeed. There is threads about auto-attacks applying “conditions” and so on, so that need to be looked at too. Also, some professions has many soft cc and so while others lacking them.

@Carighan: True, there is no pure melee or ranged class, but varies between professions (some might be extreme * good or bad* in one side thou). Add, that some likes playing certain things (ie. Melee or ranged). Using WoW as an example cause of how turned out, since some wanted ranged to have all the tools that melee have and the damage. You have an interesting idea also, does it applies to PvE and PvP or?

@Blood Red Arachnid: Think one of the problem is that monsters are dying too fast to actually pose a threat or danger. But in regard of that, I know that many doesn’t like taking their time killing things and so. How many plays TA Aetherblade path these days?

We don’t want everything one shot killing you but it would be nice if it pose a threat. But that’s another discussion for different topics.

Stealth is a broken idea, that has been implemented over and over again in games for generation. Anet is trying to make “stealth” balanced but its far from it; However, in a fantasy world it is cool to have stealth, magic, and so on (since its fantasy). Perhaps someday, someone will decide to make “Stealth” as something High Risk(like really high) and very rewarding if mastered.

True, all professions are capable of both short(melee) and long range but they capabilities varies.
On the other of the spectrum, in games like wow. They suffered from people choosing “ranged/casters” over their melee counter-part. So they gave melee interrupts and so, but end up having to decide if its fair to make it requirement to interrupts casts. But tanks interrupt as well. After a while they decided to “screw” the idea, since it was going downhill.

You all bring some nice points but some are missing out that you cant melee while being away from your target, while you can cast/hit-bows-stuff in melee range. About running backwards, I think that running with E,Q isn’t hard to learn.

From balance perspective, if ranged did have all the tools and the damage of melee; You are gimping melee.

What do you think about the current balance between them in PvE and PvP (reward/risk)?
Do you think that melee are taking higher risks at the moment being melee? Or is that ranged/casters are less riskier but less rewarding? Perhaps ranged/casters takes more damage ? Share your thoughts.

Remember in the beginning when Anet was talking about how melee was being risky with monsters targeting them and so; And was trying to find a way to make it more rewarding being melee and monsters doesn’t aggro melee first or something. Do you think they succeed in doing that?
