Why do i go to work? For the paycheck ofc. We need rewards and not a game that stops a week after you hit 80.
Dont get me wrong , the mechanics are actually good, BUT you are more or less not going to play a singleplayer game forever, due to GAMEPLAY getting duller over time.
You may call everyone that wants goals apart from cosmetics, a WoWkid , but i at the same time feel that your kind of GW2’ers are like major Apple fans.
It doesnt matter if Apple is right, or makes te right product or whatever, just aslong as its an Apple and it has their “vision” inbedded in the context. On the otherhand, since you have grasped the “fun-factors” am having a bit trouble finding, please tell me what to do if am not an achivement-"w**** and gameplay ( allthough still good) not as exciting as it was a few months ago??
Leave, easiest option.
Do I see you crying around on the Bethesda forums for Skyrim being beaten after 20 hours and no reason to play since you beat the crepe out of anyone easily?
Guess what, any other MMO gets beaten as well, the difference is, the sub makes you think you should log back on to idle an hour somewhere and chat, then log off again and wait 6 months for a content update you’ll beat in 3 weeks.
Do you also go to work only on mondays, claiming you “beat” work and don’t need to come back for the rest of the week? You paid once, you got your share of fun, if it was work for you, you were too focused on some kind of “end game” WoW or its cheap clones may have induced into you, that’s your fault, your problem, don’t make up failures that are not there.
The only failures are the epic rank grind in sPvP and fractals with all they brought along to cater to an audience like you.
Paid once? You are not making sense, you kinda need money to live. Wich if you take GW2 terms, you want people to get back to the game, not like you mentioned of work; “Do you also only work on mondays…..” Thats what gw2 is premoting.
“We have not really much to do, but the good thing is, you can comeback when you want to”. Play once , get good gear and cosmetics you like, then wait for next update…
If work was all about “fun” no one would do it, that how most people think, if it on the other hand is fun WHILE you get your reward, then thats the optimal workingplace for you.
On the otherhand, where you said that i should leave. Well not sure how healthy a game would be if a big chunk started leaving cause the game doesnt progress. And i know it’s possible for me to leave whenever i want due to the subs, but am not sure why Anet promotes their game like this, thus i state what is lacking.
Heck if they fixed content for the 80s i would maybe be considered a good mmorpg, cause to be fair, the base they are working on is pretty good.
So i have one question to you ( and all non-progression fanboys)
If progressive PvE content was added , how would it even bother you guys that dont care for numbers? Hey you can do what you want, why not add stuff to do for people that want constant progression?
No kitten I don’t want a point where any meaningful progression stops. I don’t want it to be possible to “beat” the game and literally run out of stuff to do. That’s how GW2 is designed right now. What point is there to level 80? What do we gain by being level 80 and not being able to level to 81? But hey, maybe if ArenaNet actually described the game better than they did, this would have never been an issue. They marketed the game as a game where the entire game plays like end-game in most MMOs, when in reality, endgame plays like leveling.
I bought a game that was going to be challenging from right when I created my first character, not a game where getting to level 80 just means keep doing the same thing with nothing really meaningful to work towards.
What point is there in watching a movie, what point is there in reading books, why go to work, why do you live if all you get is death at the end? Silly questions.
What you get when leveling is exploration, questing, you keep getting skill points to spend and you do dungeons and PVP/WvW. That’s exactly what you do after you hit max level, so you do the same thing. All game is end game, that’s exactly what they told and what you get.
If you expected a silly powergrind where you’ll always get levels that don’t mean anything but a counter on how much time you spent, I guess you need to go see a doctor.
Why do i go to work? For the paycheck ofc. We need rewards and not a game that stops a week after you hit 80.

Funny how all the “radical” Gw2 fanboys dont want anything WoW has even though its no way near broken mechanics.
On a side note, who is forcing you guys to do the daily? Comming from people that keeps the " Do what you want, thats GW2!!!" argument alive. If u dont want the dailies, dont do em, simple.
It’s a good idea for us that hasnt become GW2-fanboys and finds “FUN” in every corner of Tyria as they somehow miraculously can.
Well to be fair, the amount of gamers that ( like you seem to refer to) find fun out of nowhere is a minority in the mmo market. When gameplay starts to get dull other mechanics and aspects needs to keep it interesting up, such as progression or farming etc…
It’s good that there are people out there that in fact can “simply enjoy” Gw2 , but most of us are realists, we want rewards for our hard work, and is infact a mentallity that most people have.
On the other hand Kriza, what you may think is fun, doesnt apeal to other people as fun. You make it feel like i cant have fun at my work, where i both work for the rewards ( paycheck) and enjoy being there doing what i do. On the other hand, am not sure i would come to that job all to often if i didnt get a paycheck, even though its somewhat “fun”.
If you have progressive dungeons, like wow for instance, then there must be something to work toward. In wow’s case, its gear and so people work thier butts off to get to that gear.
You don’t want a game. A game is something people play to have fun.
What you are describing is a grind. While I understand some people are addicted to grind and cannot understand the concept of playing games for fun anymore, if all you want in a MMO is to grind, there are far better options for you in any of the other so-called games in the MMORPG genre.
Meanwhile, for those who want a game, something to have fun with, there is Guild Wars 2.
Well take this for an example; Would you be able to play most singleplayer games for years with the gameplay not changing?
Thats what GW2 ( and all other MMORPGs) are like. The gameplay doesnt change much over course of time, therefor people need other goals to drive them, aka most cases numbers, since many gamers agree " graphics is just compliment to good gameplays and story".
Taking that to account, why do Gw2’ers think no one is having fun if they join the “gear treadmill”??
Its like saying, its not fun building muscles at the gym, just working out is the fun, not the results. Konstant growth = pleasure = “fun”
I belive GW2 would work better as a PVP game, since it demands fair balance ( aka no one having better gear then the other). But for PvE you need konstant progression to keep comming back, otherwise you simply play every few months when they do release new content.
Well to put it this way, GW2 is a good game IF you consider the amount of money you pay. But is it good as a MMORPG? No, not really.
Anet tries to take on the stand of a competitive game with no char progression ( aka only cosmetics and “ranks”), similar to FPS , MOBA or RTS games.
This on the otherhand doesn work for MMORPGs in the long run, people need to make it a “chore” to a certain degree and to see results by doing it. The gameplay wont be able to keep you entertained for enough time. This similar to single-player games where you feel that its a good thing it ended, due to gameplay becoming repetitive.
So what do MMORPGs need? Growth, a constant stream of making your char stronger, since hey numbers is what you are watching most of the time while playing.
So my conclusion is; I will keep playing from time to time, and wait for updates, but not dedicate anymore time than that.
Not sure 1v1 matters that much. Aslo if you are having truoble facing theives, go to the theif sub-forum and ask for advice to counter. I am sure someone will help you out to actually prove that theif arent as OP as people may think.
The question on progression can be easily answer with a metaphor;
Let’s take all the guys that work out at the gym. Why are most of them doing it? For fun?
No, most of us do it for the results ( either looks or preformance), even if those result start to scale down the more involved we get into working out. But by then we are already cought up in the “system” of training, aka we learn to love the so called “chore”.
Imagine now that it’s proven that no matter how hard you work out, no results in muscle growth will show. How many would still work out for “fun” ?
Or the other extreme , where you get a complete athletes body within days of working out. Would it still be apealing to work out afterwards? Would people bother to even start working out since it’s so accessible? Cause hey it isn’t special anymore.
Apart for the Legendaries ( that should be hard to get) my problem with GW2 atm, everything is taken to the extreme. You farm ALOT and hard for minor cosmetic changes, and to little with things that actually shows a character growth, numbers.
Dont get me wrong, i dont want another WoW-game where every piece of gear adds to much, that newer players cant keep up, aswell as old content beeing forgotten.
But a constant stream of small changes in stats, or in sigils for those who actually manages for an example Frac 30, or even some spells with a more fun factor to it then pure OP’ness. Cause atm alt are more or less the only “showing progression” the game has.
Having a hard time understanding why gear treadmill is such a bad thing. yes the extent that WoW took it to an extreme level, where simply a new set would raise for an example your HP by 25 -33%.
But without numbers getting higher I and most of my friends playing GW2 wont be able to stick around for long ( yes i know its a drop in and out game = no sub).
And as mentioned, in other post, the amount of players left in the MMO market. that only care for “cosmetics” are getting fewer and fewer, due to the fact that they do not cover up the bigger part of the marketshare. Therefore they will have to make drastic changes if they want to keep the game alive.
Sidenote; I myself was totally convinced that looks would only matter in “endgame” for me, but now am having a hard time doing anyting, since i have no reason to do a dungeon more the once for the achivement, no reason to quest since the rewards more or less bad, and the “whine” goes on.
xardrion.4607 uses Flameshield against “traditional-mmo hate bandwagoners”……..
Its super effective!
