Returning player, now guild leader!
Story
The Wicked was a group of people that got together to beta-test the game early on. Many members quit, but I’ve returned and I used to be second-in command… now I’m first (and 1 of 2)

Guild Purpose:
As of right now, the purpose is to get some active members in order to start doing guild missions and mostly getting people together.

Requirements:
None, really. Since it’s a small guild and it will probably stay small for quite some time, it’s better if you preferred these types of guilds.

Features:
We have decent progress, (l.4 Architecture, etc.)
Have friends to chat with

Just contact me, I mostly play my thief, Regyx or my warrior, Sir Lion.

Looking for a guild on Jade Quarry

Hey there, looking for a small guild (>60) to play with on Jade Quarry. I’m down for anything. I was on break for a long time but now I’m back and getting into the groove of things. I’m a casual player (in college) so I don’t have much time to play but it’s getting lonely out in the big world of Tyria.

[Build] End Game Fractals P/P Build

in Thief

xyger.7349

If your primary goal is single target DPS, P/P is by far an amazing choice.

However, in certain situations (like my own) I run in groups that have access to a great deal of Light / Ethereal combo fields – the Blast finisher alone on Clusterbomb makes it a much better choice for group utility than a straight-up “Projectile Finisher” weapon set.

Unload’s damage far outclasses Clusterbomb, it’s the Finisher (IMO) that makes Clusterbomb invaluable in a group setting.

Edit: Maybe P/P + SB would be worth testing out.

See this makes sense. The sad thing, is that it’s useless against bosses in Fractals. The fact that Scootabuser is trying to use the combo finisher as an argument that makes SB better than P/P based on that is discredits his argument. Rarely, RARELY will you ever see someone melee a boss (unless glitched) that will put down a combo field and have a thief use Clusterbomb to stack might. Regen and Poison are time duration, which cap after a while of stacking (I believe the max is 8 secs or something? I can never apply more than that on poison) and the groups running are usually already good at keeping those up to begin with.

SB is more of a utility playing it slow and safe against bosses. P/P is faster and just as safe if you have decent skill at dodging.

In PvE, melee will be there, so the AoE combo field will definitely be worthwhile, but the time it takes a Clusterbomb to fly from the bow to the actual mob and detonate perfectly or let it not explode it takes a ton of time, in that time I will already have dumped out an entire 2 clips of unload (considering the thief is playing at range, which is almost always the case). Also, I use quickness, which is (heavenly) which I don’t benefit as much from SB than I do from P/P.

But because P/P doesn’t have utility, I feel that it’s lacking and could use some sort of buff in SOME way to make it more useful. I don’t like the fact that all I can do is just DPS and nothing else.

Clusterbomb outdamages unload and is an aoe attack, don’t see why you go P/P, its a worthless weapon set.

Lol what? Do you even play a theif?

I’m going to say this and some people are going to bash me but I believe P/P is just as strong as D/D (In terms of Damage output) but lacks some usefulness.

This is the build I use, I do this because I main D/D as a full zerker, so holing myself into P/P will just gimp me in many situations.
http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mMkMMzz9MMbFLmMxoLm0xp0fcaqmzV08khT70z7kiQ7070M7kGL70V7ofD70m

Ok well I like my build and the utilities I use. Hide In Shadows gives me two stealth, removed conditions. IF I have any conditions not removed, my other trait removes them (such as cripple and ect.) Then Roll for Ini is used more for a break stun GTFO type of restort since as D/D and P/P lack mobility compared to P/D or SB. Shadow Refuge is nice for support, could be switched, however it offers really nice HP Regen w/ Pistol (You go invis, use 1, spam unload and hope quickness procs, its good to keep a timer in your head for how often quickness has procced). Then my last utility could be either Smoke Screen, a signet, a deception, or anything really. Same w/ Elite.

Unload (above 50%) hits from anywhere of 2.4k-5.3k on mobs and bosses. Below 50% I hit from 3k-8k. BS+CnD hits from 4k-6k and below 50%, 6k-12k. Benefits of using unload is that I get to be ranged, its faster burst damage, and simpler. I give up constant cond. removal, and slight higher DPS burst. I normally switch back and forth depending on situation. Clusterbomb on the other hand hits for 2.1k (single target). I do use SB but only in the Dredge fractal & THAT IS IT. Everywhere else I find myself hitting one target. That’s why P/P is viable.

P/P is quite good now.

Hello all, just going to offer my 2 cents and hope a Dev reads it and hopefully many of you agree with my suggestions.

So… problem with P/P?
•Poor Damage with 1
•No use for Headshot and little for blinding powder (to much Ini to use, not a good investment)
•Body Shot is only useful when you have a team and it’s a boss.
•Little to no synergy with utilities except for Signets (which IMHO are NEVER a good idea for ANY thief at level 80, terrible, possibly only the Power one being acceptable). Poisons, and Deceptions. (You will almost never have aggro so traps don’t work, you will never be able to use some tricks and deceptions) leaving you only with deceptions that don’t offer much benefit in certain cases
• Majority of the PISTOL SPECIFIC traits do NOT offer any extra significant boost in DPS and by choosing them, you gimp yourself out of extra DPS for your second set and/or creates a primary set out of the P/P which is not ideal at all.

Conclusion: Only good from this is the 3-4K damage I get from spamming unload, making it a max of 9-12K in the same amount of time I would have done 12k-24k with daggers+ removing conditions, healing, and enjoying being all stealthy and crap.

Start reading from here on down, it’s the most important!

Solution-
I propose to the community of thieves that we come up with a viable solution to these problems then forward it to the “Feeback thread” and hope the Dev’s implement this or at least see that P/P is truly UP.

Specific Pistol Suggestions
•Modify the 2 on P/P to give 8 stacks of Vuln or increase it’s duration or make the animation faster. All of which end up doing the same. Maybe even add the Cripple affect
Make 1 faster (it’s only viable w/ Haste/Quickness and only for a short period).
•Make it so there’s more synergy between D/D and P/P (Because honestly, those two are always aimed at raw power; precision and Crit Dmg+ supports that and therefor making it an obvious choice to use them both), right now P/P does not feel like it was aiming to be a good D/D, somewhere between Condition (which are way to short to begin with) and DPS.
Replace 4 to a better CC Skill
•Replace/Modify 5 because it’s not useful at all. The only time I SEE it used is as up close to a mob, being dropped and giving pure blind to the enemy and stealth to the Melee classes (which only thieves take advantage of). That pure blind doesn’t even help due to the mobs ability to AOE or other moves that are 100% hit if you don’t dodge.
Make unload faster or give it the ability to move while using it.
• Make it so the natural objects we steal give some sort of aid to range such as boons (Fury or Might, etc.) or Raw Damage (Such as scale which gives poison and bleed, but more damage wise because we don’t benefit AS much from conditions)

Overall Class suggestions
•Make it so we can use something else besides signets and poisons underwater (or at least our elite)
•Give us a more stable or easy-to-proc Fury (not constant fury, but just being able to bring it up every now and then, like Thrill of Crime)
• Increase our ability to crit? I don’t really know if it’s just me that can’t get above a 60% Crit Rate w/o using Fury.

I posted this here so I could get some feeback from you fellow theives before I go to the devs asking for a bunch of probable non-ideal changes.

Not another nerf thread.

Yah, I’m a crit build, backstab burst damage cookie cutter build. I do use P/D sometiems (terrible terrible damage though, but really fun) and I used shadow’s rejuvenation, signet of malice, plus regen. When I went 1v1 I could heartseeker to the guy, CnD, Backstab, switch and use 3 on p/d and get away easily, landing around 7k damage. If I was low on health I’d heartseeker+CnD+1 on pistol,+3 on p/d. just in that moment I gained 500 from Signet of Malice, 400 from regen, and 900 from stealth. While evading a big portion of their attacks. The only ones I HATED fighting were leech necros or bunker guardians. kitten them. kitten THEM ALL!

Also, theives are only “OP” against untrained players that don’t know any better. As a warrior I kill thieves constantly because I know every single move they have. I haven’t tried any other classes (I am trying guardian then mesmer) but I feel that if people wise up, they’ll start killing us off like flies (considering we still want to go for maximum damage output on D/D).

Then again, once you know each classes weaknesses and strengths and you know what build they have you’re most likely to win in any situation.

How does one get to 10k Crit Damage? The highest I’ve ever had was 6.4k Crit. That’s BS + 20% Dmg from Executioner, 10%+ from hitting behind, +25% from vuln. And then full berserker exotic gear w/ rune of the rage. Even more so I see people constantly saying its 12k or 15k. Are you guys including Cloak and Dagger damage also? (It’s like 3k max, but mostly around 2k, but then that would make a little bit more sense)

The thief and its gameplay - Your feedback [Merged]

xyger.7349

Hi, Thief is very well balanced . Except Pistols. Please make them a bit stronger or mobile, at the very least look into re balancing the Initiative. I like Dagger+Dagger and Bow Skills fine. I can’t speak for sword+ anything because I personally didn’t like the play style, only thing I saw was that a human person using pistol whip DID NOT do all the attacks, just 4 while saying it does 9. I don’t know if this was intentional or bug similar to the “Spinning Axes” from warrior on the Asuras & whatnot.

Another note: If you guys do happen to nerf the BS, may I suggest a bit more… flashy effects? BS is just primarily used for a High burst build, making a condition user (like me, but that loves dagger & uses death blossom) would be to add some affects. I would think that instead of having a nerf add a special effect for those people that use conditions.
This could be implemented in two ways, either allow two types of hits, one from the back w/ only high direct damage (for those who like that build) and another one from the front were it can either do poison/bleed or some sort of second ability while sacrificing high damage. Allowing more flexibility w/ the daggers but still keeping the original purpose. The second way would be to lower burst damage but increase condition damage or increase tactical gameplay such as instead of high burst damage it adds 10 stacks of vulnerability or steals health instead.

I really like the idea of stealing health, and make it based on % w/ the traits of thief. Not only does it reinforce the whole “thief” idea but also gives survivability whenever we use stealth-procing traits/skills. Maybe we could see this be implemented somehow in the future to any of the skill lines?

S/S Bleed build

in Warrior

Posted by: xyger.7349

xyger.7349

Not sure if this was said before but I did a condition build also w/ Bleeds. I did 30+ Critical Hits and instead of 10% Crit hit w/ Sword I did Fury when I immobilize w/ +20 in Tactics to get Leg Specialist (They synergized very well, I’d recommend this for a sure source of fury which is 20% crit.) Then I did Banner at 20 because you can use the 2 banners, one that acts like might and the other one that gives Crits. & Since I used hammer I put the other 20 into Defense but those can be changed if you like, but since it also had a cripple it gave decent fury. Embrace the Pain helped out a ton with constant Flurry. I mostly did a Toughness, Condition Dmg build.

Edit: If you’re a charr, I’d use Sharpnel Mine for the 3rd utility skill, really great for bleeds

Are Warriors Boring?

in Warrior

Posted by: xyger.7349

xyger.7349

They’re not really all the boring. A crit build on a rifle is really powerful. A condition build charr around Axes and Sword is also pretty nice. Hammer is as flashy as it gets though.

I use to do Mace+Shield in WvW and I’d be an incredibly tanky guy just using the shield traits and then using rifle or Sword+Axe to get some condition damage and mobility.

I found them boring… because they walk really slow and utilities are really… just not good IMO. You could go DPS, support (Banners/Shouts/Both) , or just Tanky w/ low DPS. It was the trait tree that really got me, it had nothing extra about it, all it felt was it was just small boons and barely made a difference if you didn’t go 30+30 for a specific weapon.

Also, Signet Warriors… don’t do that. They are just dull and repetitive.

Fighting Skill Point are annoying

in Thief

Posted by: xyger.7349

xyger.7349

I don’t know if any of you other thieves had it as bad as me but I found it annoying when I had to fight for SP. Not that it’s hard or anything but majority of the time they’re just annoying.

We use stealth, and I use it more often than most thieves (Shadow Art’s tree here) and when fighting for SP I have to use all of my skills right? Well I go invisible, the guy walks back and resets… and I have to start all over. Especially when the… mob hits hard and I have to heal I go invisible want it or not and it the mob returns to its original position and resets as if I died. OR if it doesn’t reset it just says it stupid catch phrase about 20 times during the fight (lol).

Anyways, I wanted to see if anyone ever find this annoying. I also wanted to suggest there be some sort of solution for this? It’s helpful when we fall to the ground, go invis and the mob resets and we stand back up after healing(meaning we don’t die and lose silver on repairs) but… other than that it could be fixed. Just kind of make the mob not reset.. or reset after 3 seconds of no fighting?

Small steal changes for big improvements

in Thief

Posted by: xyger.7349

xyger.7349

Lol, missing the steal and having the cooldown isn’t really all that bad, just don’t mess up which is quite easy to do… I used to play a banner warrior. If you tried to summon your elite banner anything canceled the animation and made the banner go on full cd.

Stealing is really useful. I use it as a gap closer+buff alongside an extra additional item. I hardly fail and when I’m in range mode all I do is either wait for enough Ini to steal and use 3 on bow twice or roll for ini (in case I stole w/o ini), or shadow step. All those skills are meant for moving back. & Even w/o traits it’s still like a mobility skill, sure it doesn’t break stun but lets say you’re fighting a ranged mob (you think that’s great right?) you get stunned and you have an aoe. You think to yourself.. ooo dodge or shadowstep but neither of them work… now what? You’re taking serious damage just by being in that aoe… STEAL!. It’ll move you to that person, sure you’re still immobile but no longer in the AOE.

Personally I don’t see the reason behind a Grapple. In fact, if given the choice I’d still use other one because for a short moment I can switch to a melee and deal a quite a bit of burst damage and then move back and switch to range.

I’m going to try for the order of whispers helm + orrian medium armor. It looks pretty cool.

Oh definitely yes. Right now I do more damage then ever and I’m not even remotely complete. A PvE Backstab thief (if played right) can do serious damage, usually half the 1/3 of the monster in two hits. So do that 3 times and you kill it. Bow damage is insane if you go pure condition build, poision + sigil of earth creates really nice DPS & has great survivability and ini- management. Pistols… at endgame I don’t really want to know, they get to be really crappy as a main hand weapon. Off-hand w/ Sword-Pistol or Dagger-Pistol is still good though. Pistol is more of a constant crit damage sort of gameplay with support skills such as Body Shot, Pistol Unload (or something), and cripple. (Although I found it insane if you did Haste or Quickness + Pure Crit Damage/Crit chance) Wastes your Ini like crazy too.

Shortbow and Dagger skins?

xyger.7349

Eww, ghastly lol. Yah I wanted some dagger and bow skins but so far haven’t found many. To start off with, the legendaries are crap ._. a rainbow bow and a stupid melting dagger? WTF!? No. Just no.

I do like the Legionnaire’s dagger (4 gold), the Seraph/Noble Dagger (From Cadecus Manor or from Drops), The Pact Dagger (not really assassin-y), Moonshank is really nice but expensive. There’s another dagger that I can’r really recall but look’s pretty cool also.

The bows.. I can’t find any. I found to like the Legionnaire’s short bow or the Seraph/Noble one but those are pretty ugly. There is the dead bow and the bone bow which are really nice but I have no clue where to get them from.

I do recommend you go to the Heart of the mists, your PVP locker, and preview them there if you haven’t done so already.

If you’re a hardcore gamer you should know that any classes that get nerfed tend to be OP or have high out put damage.

I just recently reached level 80 on my thief and I rand from level 45 to level 80 with level 40 gear. I had level 54 daggers and a 62 bow(the only yellow). I could take out probably 3 monsters at a time using a combination of bow and daggers. Of course.. I had to be jumping everywhere and was well ahead of the level (Killing level 50 monsters at level 70). I did feel though that I could use more power though, because it was more about how long it took, if I was just a bit stronger in overall DPS I could finish them. The defense of a thief doesn’t come from the armor, it comes more from the ability to avoid being dealt damage such as stealth, dodging, or blinding everything… everything!

One thing I didn’t struggle was with ranged mobs at all. Well except Imps. I struggled more with 4 mobs+.

My suggestion for you is to at least always have armor within 5 levels & weapons also. Also, try out the other type of weapons. Something that will make your life so much easier will be shadow’s refuge or some stealth skill+a regen trait. I also recommend you go Crit base or Condition damage, like ASP said, straight damage build won’t really work out for you until very end.

One thing though. I never played with sword. I hated it and the DPS was really weird. It didn’t have conditions or a remotely useful coming out of stealth skill. I played dual pistol and dual dagger and bow most of the time. Dual pistol will let you take on one one beasts with the smoke field but it will take forever, but was still really useful.

Oh PS: Yah I hated doing those events where it was “take out this x3” and normally I could take them out but it would take me around 8 minutes to do so and half the time a group or just one person would come in at the last 2 minutes and kill the last mob within 50 seconds… It made me so depressed but I never died on the upside

Thanks :P
I’ll have to figure out which benefits me more now based on that. I plan on running a Crit Build for BS & Conditions. So either regen helps, I feel that if I would be doing a Backstab build I’d mainly do Shadow’s Protector (As well as for support my friends a bit) while bow would benefit more from Shadow’s Rejuvenation (since it stays longer in stealth).

Shadow Arts Tree

This is more for the dev’s but also for the very experienced thiefs that do their research.
My main concern is that in the Shadow Art’s tree there are two traits that are incredibly similar, Shadow’s Rejuvenation & Shadow Protector. Shadow Protector gives allies regeneration for 5 seconds when you stealth them, Strange thing is that it also gives it to the caster. Shadow’s Rejuvenation on the other hand says health regenerates while in stealth.

My question is… which one heals better (for the thief primarily) if only one was picked. And is the health regeneration from Shadow’s Rejuvenation affected by healing power like the Guardian’s & Ranger’s?

Thanks for any answers :o

The Wicked
Server: Blackgate
VOIP: Mumble
Website: td.shivtr.com
Type: PvX, Semi-hardcore, Relaxed
Timezone: Coast to Coast, NA times (Pacific-Eastern)

The focus of this guild is to enjoy all aspects of GW2. We plan on creating mass WvW groups to dominate the field, small groups to venture into dungeons, and teams that participate in sPvP. That doesn’t exclude all the jumping puzzles, secret lore, rare armor hunts, crafting and such. GW2 is an astounding game and it’s really best to explore the whole world and even its mysterious nooks and crannies. As well as the drinking games, jokes, and strange and unnecessary activities.

Our atmosphere is social, friendly, but mature. Our age ranges from 20 and up to late 30’s. People here share similar goals in GW2 and life experiences outside the game which is good for conversation. We’re also very organized, dedicated, and most of all experienced. We do use Mumble as a form of communication, it’s not required to have a mic but it is recommended (You’ll enjoy the game much more). We also have a good sense of humor, so expect to see some R-rated conversations. We also like to joke and although we play seriously, we don’t sound very serious at times. Overall it’s a pretty easy going atmosphere but when it comes to gaming, we’re hardcore skilled players, well at least some of us. Our heads aren’t always in the game, sometimes it’s flying in the clouds. It’s also understood many players now can’t give themselves the luxury playing for hours on end; so we don’t require perfect attendance or “minimum” play time, we don’t believe in rigid guild activity requirements.

Aside from a guild some call home, we offer very experienced leaders that will make the server! We also offer players with good fellowship among guild mates, forming a strong bond and sense of camaraderie. Although many players have limited hours (Doing their studies, working, or having a life[pfft life? right.]) we like to get things done around here and will be very active in completing objectives. . We’ll have a heavy presence in WvW when we do decide to enter, and achieve acknowledgement from other guilds and even servers. We also have a helpful community filled with amazing long time players willing to help newcomers. We’re also dedicated when organizing the guild, in fact there’s still a positions that need to be filled by people with previous MMO and some form of guild leading experience.

The Wicked’s Upgrades:
*Guild Stash
*Guild Armorer
*Emblem
*Guild Contractor
We have
•Level 3 Politics
•Level 3 Architect
•Level 2 Art of War

Currently, we’re roughly around 17 active members, with a total of 30~35 members!

Will you join the Wicked? The group that set out to defeat all evil with virtues of strength, organization, guild fellowship, and foolery?!If you are, you must know we only accept people likeminded. You must meet the following requirements-

•Decency to help out a mate, even those outside of the guild.
•Willing to play anything at least once, don’t knock it till you try it
•Respect and represent
•Besides that not much. Also, don’t worry about getting booted for playing short hours or not participating in activities, it’s your game and you play what you want
• We don’t accept drama, we want drama free environment.
• Able to take some teasing and have a sense of humor.
• We don’t want trash talkers, huge ego-maniacs, and definitely not rage quitters.
We want to enjoy the game, not stress ourselves even more.
