The complaints about this nerf are mostly derived from overall feel-bad about mesmer nerfs I think. They’ve had some huge nerfs in the past, honestly. However mesmers are still dang strong in the dueling/roaming group role as they can bring a lot of damage while still being a pain to kill. I would welcome this nerf more (which is mostly affecting shatter which is effective in small fights and overall survivability) if it were counterbalanced with mesmers being more team oriented or group viable. They are basically portal/veil/haste bots in wvw and clones just instant explode in any wvw situation.

Something like letting your clone generating skills generate clones of whatever friendly player or guard you have targetted instead of yourself. if enemy is selected its still your clone though. Just something…because mesmers whole gimmick is completely squashed by adding numbers of players who quickly splat any clones and phantasms

Anything that causes you to login and requeue for the map isn’t a valid fix imo, as sometimes we have hour long queues to get back into the WVW map. Itd take less time to slowboat to the enemy legendary guards and go out in a failblaze of glory.

2 months wow. Its kind of like why are we bothering posting these bug reports?
Maybe the trick is to post a bug report and then use every curse word there is at the bottom of the post. I mean they can’t infract you without at least reading your post right?

yeah and relogging with queue to get in wvw = more pain. not to mention all sorts of pve boss fights and dungeons.

Here are the workarounds i’ve found so far=
1) logging out
2) repairing a gate/wall
3) taking enough fall damage to get flattened
4) getting launched
5) dying

If you are inside a golem you are just screwed. you have to purposefully kill your teams golem. The frustrating thing is that this was fixed once and all it probably takes is for one team member to read this and be like oh woops and let the right person know.

I’m going to start putting up interesting youtube videos soon at this rate of me going around in fights able to use nothing but my dodge and jump key. I even downed someone with retaliation once and had to stand there jumping on their body while they bandaged back up to full. They were probably thinking I was rubbing it in their face but I couldn’t even stomp them. Also epic videos of me abandoning my guildmates midfight to run to the nearest cliff 10 minutes away

Please oh please someone fix this. Every single day I’m walking around and can’t even press 1, or F to stomp. I just sit there and hope someone kills me. Someone just needs to realize its broken and re-fix it again, the last patch did nothing for it.

Its very irritating and happens often. When you try to pick up an item, namely a banner, sometimes it fails and then your character is left unable to use any skills until you manage to either A) die or take enough fall damage that your character becomes flattened on the ground.

This is extremely frustrating when operating a golem as you can’t even exit the golem nor flatten yourself with fall damage. In fights you just walk around with your team going OMG SPY.

Teleporting doesn’t fix it either, please fix this as I play a banner warrior and it happens every single day over and over.

Edit: this is to add that this bug was also in the past and supposedly ‘fixed’ in previous patch notes. In addition it seems to be caused when moving while picking up.

I believe its happened a few times, but is rather amusing to see NPCs setting off the filter. After completing molten facility and checking in at black citadel, rytlock uses the “D” word! Should give him 72-hour suspension for violating code of conduct heh

Glory for WvW gear

Its the way GW1 was structured too though, kind of a key part of the model and system that defines guild wars franchise. In GW1 you picked either PVP or PVE char. Your PVP char would get instant max level, gear, and be able to roll with people in pvp without handicap. Your PVE toon actually was handicapped in PVP until he got max level, skills, etc. The catch was your PVP toon could never participate in PVE.

They basically improved on that concept here by allowing you to use 1 character for both roles, and separating the playing area with heart of the mists. However, anything you earn in Spvp/heart of the mists is not supposed to be transferable to GW2 PVE side. The whole system of instant level 80, free runes, etc, is meant to allow players to jump in and play the game without grind, its a huge selling point. I understand the desire, and wish in one hand too, to be able to take some of that Spvp effort and move it into Pve realm but its just not this game.. on the bright side you still get to /rank and show off!

You can kill the pet or try a push/pull to knock them out of the channel, maybe. If the pet dies or is switched they still can’t use search and rescue again for 3 mins. But yes its pretty OP underwater, sharks licking your wounds and all that.

I think the time requirement is key. You can complete pve dailies at a good pace usually, though it might require waypointing. The PvP daily always has matches or wins though, and those you really can’t speed up too much. But if you only have an hour or two to play, you probably aren’t able to do both dailies now. And even then, spending 2 hours of playing just to get a glory booster and some glory…no thanks. Pretty sure arenanet runs stats so maybe in a month they see spvp unique logins drop a bit and reconsider.

Having played ff14 through release and beyond, this isn’t that bad and I feel as if some of you are overreacting or don’t have a good grasp on terrible development. In addition, compared to many companies like Blizzard or SQENIX Arenanet isn’t that large or staffed. I can agree with the sentiment that the Q/A seems lacking, but I believe its simply because they are prioritizing new content and just letting us find the bugs/balance for them as its released.

Not liking it so far. Before, you could do 3 matches, win or lose, and get em done. It was motivation for a casual player like me, with only a little time each day to play, to start up spvp and enjoy the content. The monthly took understandably longer. But now I saw today there were new dailies, with more things to do for the requirement, more tiers, and you have to do tournaments. Depending on luck and if you get the daily for tournament wins, thats pretty time-consuming. It used to take about 30-35 minutes to complete the spvp daily, now its anywhere from an hour to 2 hours by my guess. That’s a bit long and is making me want to focus more on wvw and pve.

snowflakes are only valued if they are pristine. flawless, even though higher teir, are not. your same example with gold doubloons. the lesser doubloons and snowflakes are somewhat valued because they can be upgraded via forge, nothing more. the upper levels are not valued because they serve no purpose AND can’t be downgraded. The wood, while there is still a method of gathering those (and if you wanted to get creative, silver doubloons despite being level 20 item..) you won’t get any through salvaging, since your items are going to yield t5 and 6.

Having a way to upgrade items and not downgrade items artificially values lower tier items.

Currently there are numerous ways to promote materials to a higher tier. This is all good and happy, but there is no way to downgrade them as well. This provides some problems when coupled with the facts that A) high level characters now receive high level loot even in low level zones and B ) a lot of recipes still require low level loot as favored, making the prices go up as there just isn’t high supply of these (example, silver doubloons, some teirs of wood, pristine snowflakes, et al.)

Of course, we would have the ratio be poorer than the upgrade ratio in reverse.

They way the might icon looks, you can’t read any stacks of might over 10 very well..that first digit is hard to see. It should be a very easy fix too.

If not already in place, I think a message explaining the trade restriction every time a new account opens up the mail button should occur. That way your legitimate new players know ahead of time about issues if you get or send money from a friend you may not be able to return it. Its not like the gold sellers don’t already know about it, and it would be just good customer service and probably less hassle for support tickets.

Eviscerate was secretly nerfed in some patch-ago. Now it connects half the time and the other half you leap off in another direction screaming I MEANT TO DO THAT

Also note that eviscerate’s damage is significantly less than rifle kill shot, and 1) its a melee skill 2) hits only 1 person 3) usually doesn’t even hit that person and 4) has no purpose other than damage, which it severely lacks in.

You don’t need to spec pets. Just the 50% hp trait. You can build your necro for marks or whatever and not rely on them, though your utility slots are sets. Noone will 1 shot aoe necro pets. maybe 2 shot if they are super strong(and glass) and even then they will only hit at most 5 of your pets. 1 group of hammer warriors would be so lol. they’d walk on 100 stacks of fear, 300 stacks of bleed, 100 stacks of chilled and poison and at most they could kill 25 pets with luck. IF they could even move through the lag or see you before you hit them. People could load up pet summoning runes like ogre or pirate or whatever for more lol too. Sigil of Demon hunting gets useful? probably not.
Just think of the troll of setting all your zergs wards down on a bridge as you run around, hoping some poor noob braves it. And you’d be suprised how fast stuff would die with that much crap beating on someone. Your necro still has so much he can do even if he ignores the fact that whatever you are fighting is getting auto-pounded on. 2 weapon sets means more fun, death shroud party, and lets not forget how awesome pressing 0 would be on a group of people, watching your golems ram them all the way back to the borderland waypoint.

Possibly a good reason thieves’ stealth hasn’t been nerf, is their presence in a large scale battle has never changed the outcome of a battle. Which is also why Ele’s and Mesmers have been nerfed, being able to perform amazing feats like portal bombing, aoe area control and actually blocking treb fire.
When Anet created theif, they created the only class in the game that has no passive guard. A class that has to actively avoid all damage. To make this manageable they equipped them with an illusion to keep as much damage focus off them as possible. On top of that they worked this stealth illusion deeply into their offenses. Thus you have a class is dependent on stealth for defense and attack.
On top of that they removed the thief class’ traditional primary target. The support healer. Traditionally a party’s backbone was the healer and if the healer died, their party fell soon after. Thief’s role was to take them out so the party would would fall. That was Thief’s big impact. However now everyone’s their own support, Thief has lost their target, their role and their way to make a big impact.

Anet knows all this, how they’re dependent on stealth, and how they don’t make a significant impact on big battles in WvW. This is probably why Anet hasn’t touched stealth.

I have to say at the risk of sounding haughty that i’ve turned a few battles around with my thief. Just 1 thief. When you roll into their ranged lines with a ton of might, fury, and a glass cannon build, start pistol whipping a stack of 5 with quickness for 12k+ per person then do your spinny spinny spin troll in circles with each dagger doing 2-5k people start turning around and focusing you. the front line too is like who does this guy think he is downing 5 players in seconds lets own him. Then suddenly you hit 2 and you instant uninterruptable stun-break teleport back to somewhere safe and far away. Meanwhile quite a few people are swinging at air thinking you are still there, not even realizing the front lines have broken because they are worried about a dumb thief, and the zerg mows them down.

We’ve also done some tactical stuff a few times where we took a mesmer with us and just laid out a time warp and 2 other thieves and an elementalist just went to freaking town and bodies dropped everywhere. Oh and btw stealthed mesmer from previous mentioned perma stealth? It can summon phantasms all day on a glass cannon build and wreck shop with never leaving stealth.

At first, I thought it would be perma-stealth thief zergs roaming the map at 50% move speed stealthed and dropping tons of poison arrows, knockdown traps, and caltrops on the other zergs (which as you may know do no damage directly so they can stay in stealth forever.)

But I realized the new fad today: Necros. I know, what the heck right? But hear me out.
Necro+6(or more pets) running minion builds.
Your 100 man zerg just became 700 man zerg. Any time you ran close to an enemy zerg they would just lag nonstop. Plus all those AOES and stuff they won’t get to try because they are too lagged anyway? limit of 5 players per aoe so you’ve got a good chance of no players even getting hit.

All you need to maintain perma stealth is the +1 second stealth trait, the initiative while stealthed trait, and +2 initiative when stealthed trait. That is for perma AOE stealth. I use it with my buds around corners sometimes and ambush people. If you run with two or more similar spec thieves, you can roam the whole map invisible.

tl;dr Catching a screen shot is your best evidence, but if you run fraps (and similar apps), that would be even better evidence.

does the exploit team accept video files or youtube links? I’ve never got a reply so I don’t know if they just delete it or something since its large file or outside link. Which is another trouble through using email system instead of in-game reporting. Limit on transfer size

Yeah not sure how it happened but last night a thief was able to enter our citadel and kill all our npcs. Also some tarnished coast players were under the map making it impossible for us to take keeps and towers. i think someone got screenshots.

Under the map is definitely a bug or exploit, but thieves can stay in a keep almost indefinitely stealth with cloak and dagger on a gate. basically you wait until stealth is almost up and hit Cloak and Dagger, it hits right as you unstealth and you get recloaked with no reveal debuff. Always need to check for this before reporting thieves, they are really tricky by nature.

Just some notes when considering teleport hacking reports.
Of course lately its been the ones who do several small teleports in sequence, and not the below skills which are obvious if you are watching. Perhaps the auto-detection features don’t pick it up and thats why i’m seeing more of this than the previous fly and long-range teleports?

Guardians have three teleports, one to a foe and burning and one to nearest hurt teammate and heals. There is the sword teleport too, to foe.
Necros have wyrm teleport, spirit walk return teleport.
Warriors have no teleports that I can think of.
Mesmers have portal, blink teleport, and some defensive skills do a short range teleport.
Elementalists have lightning flash only I believe.
Thief has a lot of teleports. Sword move 2, shortbow 5, and various dual skills that either teleport away or toward target, shadowstep, shadow return, and the trait that teleports on disable.
Ranger: no teleports that I can think of. Has a stealth when disabled trait though.
Engineer: none that i’m aware, don’t really play it

Especially in a T1 server where there are many players, we often come across people teleport hacking or sometimes speed hacking when they think noone is around. Generally its the same repeat offenders too, whom I am assuming keep doing it because they get away with it. The problem, unlike PVE content is that I can’t see the info of the player to report if they are an enemy. This would not be be an issue if there was a report hacking button or something but there is not. Instead we are asked to send an email to exploits where the only info we can provide is MAYBE a screenshot (which won’t show anything useful because its just a picture,) and a few lines of text saying “some guy in SoR server who is a necro in EA guild or some guardian on SoS but I forgot the guild.” If they are on my server I can give the account details through friending them (I follow a lot of hackers just to see how long they get away with it and if they keep the account… a lot do sadly, even after I reported and sent SS months ago.)
So how do we identify these folks better so that exploits team can take care of them? Is there some way i’m missing other than right click to get more details? Should I just install fraps and send videos, upload to youtube? I just want to be more helpful in taking care of these cheaters because it is very disheartening to see blatant cheaters who have been exploiting for weeks, months still playing the day away every day with the rest of us who arent.

gaining a skill point or level up cancels any active channels you have going, as well as disrupts your attacks and preventing you from doing any skills. Its basically a 1.5second daze that goes through stability for every time you get a level up.

Happens a decent bit with my thief, whirlwhirlwhirl spinspin oh someone died oh suddenly i’m not spinning now oh suddenly i exploded.

There is a niche with some HP specs in groups. If everyone knows you are bringing the heals, and that yours are better than theirs, and that you will always be giving them all the regen they need, they can focus on offensive playstyles and bring more offense gear or utilities. However the usefulness of HP isn’t the topic, its the fact that an entire niche is being singled out and getting the shaft here. If it was because it isn’t bringing anything good to the team, then we certainly wouldn’t have Magic find Ascended sets for every slot…

With 5 new Utility Infusions and 30 Ascended Amulets to choose from, there’s something for every style of player.

Every style of player except healing? I was rather disappointed to see this whole new list of fancy ascended gear come out, and still we cannot stack healing power as even a secondary stat, on anything. I mean they even have magic find infusions and sets, but healing power playstyle is somehow less important?

I really would love to hear an official response on this. Is it intentional? (looks like it) If it is intentional, do we not deserve an explanation at least as to why? Anything to either keep up the hopes or just cope with the fact that any HP oriented character will be wearing exotic for life.

Its been mentioned before that you can get zero healing power currently on the back pieces, and 2/5th the healing power of an exotic on the ring (via celestial.) My character’s play style is healing. I love it, and I like fractals. However i’m hoarding my relics still and making do with 0 agony on the hope that they will release healing power items soon so I can progress. I just want to know if there has been any mention or discussion about this anywhere from anyone on above? Is it an oversight or on purpose? Even if they just say “No” or “Not planned soon” I can at least move on and use the relics on something else to switch into for boss fights.

If you want to make an easy loot fix, why not create a new bag item called “spoils of war” and have this auto deposited into inventory on kill. The item would function like other loot bags in the game, except it would use your wvwvw loot table for that character. Of course, the bags would be soulbound.

Seems like that would fix the issue of picking up bags mid combat, as well as inventory space issues while you are fighting since the bags would be stackable. Maybe less rendering resources too

Going forward as you develop new content, I would like to suggest putting a 22 or 23 hour rotation on daily events. I would like to suggest this for not only things like Ori nodes, daily reward resets and such, but also daily events and special event It can even be considered for WvWvW match reset since the time after a match reset is super important (without changing the day.)

The reasons for this are:
1) 24 hours or more make it inconvenient for casual or working players, to enjoy certain content daily. 23 hours makes it easier to keep up a routine for yourself, or with friends to enjoy.
2) Players from other time zones, players with work or school, all have different playing times. Some content that is on a set 24 hour time will become either inconvenient or worse, inaccessible to them.

I will close by referencing Final Fantasy 14 here, in that they have players from Japan, US, and European zones as well. They have a lot of content that enjoys certain windows like turning in items for tokens (up to a certain max, and max resets at XXXX time) as well as events that run continually daily or weekly. Most of these events are on 22 hours or 23 hours timer, and it seems to work well for everyone involved. Some weeks in the US certain content was difficult to wake in time to catch a reset, but the JP players enjoyed. Other times it was the opposite, but everyone got to participate eventually, no matter what their situation was.

PS, if you do take this suggestion to heart, I will further suggest that as you introduce new daily/weekly content with reset timers, introduce them with a different reset time than your other daily content resets currently, so even if player A’s playing time won’t allow for content A to be enjoyed this week, he/she can still enjoy content B or C

Me too. I’ve done the mission before on two different character with no problems prior. But recently trying now i’ve disconnected twice even though I never disconnect. Its extremely laggy and disconnecting mid mission is frustrating as a giant waste of time.

I would like to see LoS skills like ‘steal’ function properly up walls and such. There are skills that pull enemies down walls, and this is possibly /the/ one skill that should allow you to hop up a wall.

I am extremely against this suggestion. I remember DAoC when they gave rogue types the ability to climb walls. It completely changed how keep defense and sieges worked. It made defending a keep as an underdog so much less fun. It posed little risk for the rogue really as they could just jump off and stealth when things got bad. This is a change on a level that would be no coming back from. Everyone who doesn’t play thief would be like QQ lame, and thieves would be like YAY this is awesome.

Sorry, and thief is not boring to play even in siege situation.

Anyone considered the possibility that one of the many fansites (GW2 Temple, dragon timer sites, the many blogs, etc) frequented by GW2 users is fronted by hackers/goldsellers? Its not exactly hard to get your IP there, and not much further to put in some malicious code. Particularly too where you might be persuaded to post some information or do some clicks (like updating dragon timer.)
