I’m not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I made an interesting observation. When you launch the game, on the character select screen, hit F11. The 3rd checkbox under “User Interface” should be “Autoloot: Quick Interact,” but it isn’t there. Only when I login to the world do I see that option. Then, when I logout to the character select screen (don’t relaunch the game), that option is still there.
Maybe this is somehow screwing up the save order of the checkboxes?
Just making a note here, this bug was introduced with build 56,345
they’re probably under a DDoS atm…

.. they can only send a whisper once every 30 seconds and can’t use map chat…
I know, but they can still use local (/s) chat. I’m just thinking about this from a technological prospective and how I would get around these restrictions if I were a gold spammer. I’m sure they already have 100,000 f2p accounts (and counting) that they can use =P

GW2’s F2P model is still too restrictive. There’s no point restricting players from going to Lion’s Arch or Divinity’s Reach by level. Gold spammers can’t use map chat anyway.
It’s to slow down RMT spammers from going to locals full of players at specific locations. They can’t roll a character, run into the race city to the TP or Bank and start spamming in local. Sure it doesn’t take long to get to 10 from scratch but it is yet one more way to make it less trivial to crank out another RMT spammer who will get shut down within minutes of spouting.
Thing is, this may actually make it worse. By making it free to play, botters/spammers/RTMs (they’re all the same, really) can make literately thousands of accounts, bot them up to lvl 10/35/60/80, go to la, and start spamming the crap out of local chat in a few spots (tp, bank, mystic forge). They’ll put a few bots in the highly populated areas. Sure they may get shutdown within minutes, but they have so many burner accounts, it’s trivial for them. They may even find a way to transfer gold via the TP.
Scripting this kind of stuff is easy. Anet took away the biggest barrier to entry for gold spammers – paying for the game.
A couple of questions for anet, if I may:
- Do free to play accounts get deleted if you don’t login after X months?
- Is free to play a limited time promotion?

[BWE2] Allow us to skip 1st story instance
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

You can go in the instance, then go to character select and relog. It should get you in the new map, without having done the story
I’m pretty sure I tried this last bwe and it put me back at the beginning in Red Rock.
If you press and hold spacebar it jumps and deploys the glider, if you are high enough, automatically, no need to double tap or to wait for the visual prompt. Not sure if that’s what you’re asking for though.
Yea, I didn’t know that during BWE1. Someone told me after-the-fact, lol. I’ll definitely try that during BWE2.
My question is more technical tho. Is glider deployment server-side? Think about dropping from a high cliff, waiting till you get close to the ground, then deploying glider right before you hit ground. I’d have to take ping into consideration and judge how early I’d need to open glider.
When I jump, I jump instantly – no need to ask the server if I can jump.
When I deploy glider, it has to ask the server first, then once server says it’s ok, it will open for me. That round-trip between client and server is gonna be a killer.
Not sure if you’re aware but it actually deploys right away if you jump and tap jump again while high enough off the ground, you don’t need to wait for the visual prompt. I didn’t have any lag going on myself, so I can’t say anything in regard to that.
Not referring to the visual prompt, I know I can deploy glider at the top of my jump. What I’m referring to is the delay between mashing spacebar and glider deploying. If I’m playing with 500ms ping, my glider won’t deploy until 500ms later. This makes it kinda difficult to time my glider so it opens right before I hit the ground. I have to take ping into consideration.
Wouldn’t it suck if you hit jump and your character doesn’t jump until 500ms later?
Can someone from Anet please answer this for me; does glider deployment happen on the client-side like jump/dodge?
(edited by zerocool.9842)
During the last BWE, I noticed myself hitting the ground a lot in an attempt to deploy my glider. The lag was a bit on the high side so could it be that when I mash the jump button that it first contacts the server, then deploys my glider? This seems like it doesn’t fit well with other movement actions, like jump/walk/dodge which are all client-side.
Any reason we can’t also make glider deployment client-side, as well? This would help immensely with timing my jumps and deploying glider.
There’s 4 nerfs anet made to mantras since June patch:
- They removed Empowering Mantras trait, you now have to waste charges to get the same effect.
- They removed the mantra CD trait (Mantra Mastery). I had thought the background recharge was their way of compensating. Guess not.
- Recent change: They reduced Mantra Strength dmg from 4% to 3%
- Recent change: They removed the background recharge that we all though was a feature.
I get the feeling anet only makes changes based on how much people complain in PvP, not considering that some of use don’t do PvP (ahem). e.g., Power Lock has a 5 sec cd while all the other mantras have a 1 or 2 sec cd. I’m guessing that decision was based solely on pvp play.
I’ve noticed this, too. Usually it happens when you transform into anything else (think transforming tonics) or when you go down. Kinda annoying because it defeats the whole purpose of this grandmaster trait. I’m going to venture a guess and say that anytime your util bar changes, it affects your mantras.

hah wow fast reply, thanks. I tried search briefly w/o any results.
I was hoping to make it more generic. Essence of luck isn’t the only item this would be useful for.
I do a lot of Fractals of the Mists. Usually, I break down the greens and blues i get out of them. That means I end up with a lot of essence of luck. It would be super cool if there was a context menu option that reads “Use whole stack” instead of double-clicking each individual item. My carpal tunnel will thank you, anet devs.
