Please nerf the living crap out of the Warrior, particularly the heal signet as well as the oh so annoying Nike builds that can run in and out of zergs with defiance stance, its just plain silly.
Also nerf thief power builds that 2 shot everyone (also consider tuning down the heartseeker spamming – it’s just so fricking annoying and requires absolutely NO skill).

I’ll put 4 instead of 3 in every game mode, cause I find there’s more space to explain the issues.

PvE (No presence of support or DPS in some classes, control needs to be revived):
1. Ranger (Bows are the most inefficient but used the most by far, pet AI useless, bad support)
2. Necromancer (Bad DPS, no support)
3. Thief (No support)
4. Elementalist (Too much Conjure Weapons dependence, very low base stats)

sPvP (Main problem is the condition metagame):
1. Mesmer (No place in it, lack of speed and bad condition cleansing)
2. Elementalist (Lots of nerfs, bad condition cleansing)
3. Engineer (Bad condition cleansing, turrets bugs)
4. Necromancer (Lack of build diversity)

WvW (Few OP roamer builds make most other possibilities unviable, AI.based classes are useless in zergs):
1. Ranger (No place in zergs as pet AI simply doesn’t work in WvW, lack of support and DPS in zergs)
2. Mesmer (Utilitybot in zergs, AI useless in zergs, PU clone-death builds are overpowered when roaming, no ranged AoE damage while being a light armor class, retaliation problem with Feedback)
3. Thief (Bad build and role diversity, too much biased on stealth, no place in zergs)
4. Engineer (Condi spammer build overpowered, turrets bugs, Retaliation problem, master of nothing and jack of nothing)

Overall (Podium and what to do):
1. Ranger (Pet redesigned and less AI dependence)
2. Mesmer (Less AI dependence, lots of bug fixes, better build diversity)
3. Elementalist (Really needs a fresh restart, a whole trait design and a look at base stats)

What do you mean too much bow dependence? if you want to do the most damage as a ranger in pve you have to use melee weapons and go close quarters, as a low armor class. I think if anything it is the other way around, the unparalleled archer should not have bows as a second rate skill.

yeah well, this whole thing sounds like a competition and of course the classes that arent played as much will never make it to the top.
i agree though that rangers needs a whole make over and that ele in spvp needs help, but every class needs to be looked at.

war:was overbuffed

thief: is only a ganker and needs more build diversity

mesmer: has been nerfed down to the point where there is only ai builds. in wvw there arent even real wvw raid builds because ai is terrible. then over 20 bugs(some of them gamebreaking, and no aoe for a kitten light armor class. this class need a whole rework, less i1v, less dueling, less ai, mor aoe, more actual light armor class skills and traits.

engi: has a ton of bugs too, lacks a clear role in wvw raids, is doing fine in spvp and tpvp

necro:needs bug fixes and more defensive traits. combat speed is very bad so u will have a hard time to escape a zerg. maybe better stability?

I meant most players you find play only with bows, and they become the worst, they bring bad DPS, no support, and they spread the mobs. Changed for more clarity.

For our upcoming CDI projects, we would like to collect your ideas for professions that need balancing. Since there are 8 professions, we would like to do one at a time and would like you to vote on which one comes first.

Please pick the three professions that you feel need the most help right now and list them in order of priority like so:

You phrased the question in such a way that people are going to answer with professions which are in the worst shape (meaning underpowered and/or poor mechanics).

However, in order to achieve balance, wouldn’t it also make sense to ask what professions people feel are over the top (too powerful / synergy too stong)?

What if you have a situation where profession X, Y, and Z need the most help, but really it only appears that way because profession A is so overpowered it keeps X and Y from being more widely accepted?

For example, in tPvP, Mesmers and elementalists are nigh non-existent, but that’s actually because thief is so overpowered for that role, elementalists and mesmers have no place in the meta.

In PVE, elementalists are actually really awesome for dungeons, but are far outclassed by warriors because warriors are so overpowered for dungeons.

In WvW, elementalists are good in zergs, but again, warriors are simply better (leaving ele’s relegated to glorified might stackers).

Also, isn’t the primary objective of the balance team to kitten the profession balance in the game and make adjustments to achieve balance? Why do they need our input? Isn’t that kind of like the car manufacturer asking me where he should put the airbags?

Generally speaking, it’s not hard for us to find out or know what builds are over the top. Obviously, we need to find a good middle ground to encourage people to play underused classes while balancing out the classes that are a little too dominant.

Balancing is difficult because it affects all areas of the game. This is more to get an idea of what class you guys feel is hurting the most right now, and fix it where it’s hurting. That’s not to say it will be the only thing we work on, we just want to make sure that your feedback is being heard, so we had to find a way to get it more specific and take it one step at a time.

And most ranger players you find probably made a ranger to be an archer, it’s not that hard to figure that one out. That may be a hint that ranger design is severely screwy … but then again i’m completelly biased on that subject.
