I love seeing ranger so high on everybody’s list!
1. Ranger
2. Elementalist
3. Mesmer/Engineer
Note: I believe ele would be viable if things weren’t so over the top (warriors, condi rangers, necros, thieves, engis). Too much of everything and sacrificing nothing.
Am I good?… I’m good.

3. Whatever is least played
Not only do the above classes lack good AoE for WvW, they also lack any form of build diversity.
It can be argued that both would be ideal to pick off people from a backline, but when a elementalist meteor shower do so much more damage then a single attack of either class can uphold i’d really want to see some sort of change.
Taking a mesmer for their Glamour abilities and portals seems ok though, just they seem to lack good AoE which is argueable bound to weapons.
Staff is ok when it comes to that, but as much as it is it’s got limited targets it can hit.
Meteor shower on the other hand can hit 5 people per meteor and it can do ALOT of damage.
It can be argued that mesmers are worth taking, but i wouln’t consider a ranger as viable as a thief or as a engineer.
The class doesn’t even have any form of utility that really benefits the group.
You have a water field, but so do engineers and they bring blast finishers.
Thieves are so much better to pick off people from the backline and finish them rather then a ranger.
There’s not a single ranger that would even consider running warhorn for that matter aswel, so I truely believe that it’s the kind of player that gets attracted to playing a ranger aswel that more or less focuses around selfless playing.
But other then a warhorn and a waterfield there’s not much they can bring in a big WvW encounter.
The spirits aren’t exactly that great at staying alive. If I want blinds I’ll take necro wells to blast on. Protection can be applied by a guardian aswel.
Mud field can be great to get that 1 second in to dish out some AoE damage, but again, this is very limited to a small amount of players.
I do not consider entangle a good pick for WvW, considering the damage that is being done in WvW you will be wasting a 180s CD on something that can be destroyed and last 1 or 2 seconds.
I personally think out of all the classes rangers are the only class that need major fixing for certain parts of the game.
I do feel rangers can be okay in PvP, specifically if you pick up a good build it can be deadly to roam with because of the damage.
The spirit rangers can be very annoying, but also way too easy to play.
PU mesmers do remain pretty stable to roam with aswel in either WvW or PvP.
But, the build diversity ends as much there as it started.
There’s not alot you can play your mesmer with at the moment.

1. Necromancer (why everyone can apply conditions AND damage at same time (warrior prime example) while a necro – master of condition gameplay has to do either one or the other?
2. Engineer. I don’t know about late game, but early game i got slaughtered like a pig by early level mobs on my sylvari engi. Even worse then low level thief and that says a lot. My Condition attacks (burn) were doing 3x the damage of my normal attack per second, and that’s just wrong.
3. Ranger. Honestly i’m one of the few happy people with ranger. He’s amazing survivability talks, and healing spring is best thing ever. Still i got plenty of ideas for PvE ranger (like one in my signature), so sure i’m up for the challenge. That and he does have few traits and utilities that gotta go and make room for something that can compete with the rest of them.
1. Mesmer: Least played class for a reason. Bugs, bugs and bugs again. Not in the PvP meta, pretty much usless in zerg Wv3 outside being a bot. Build variety in PvE equals zero, weak PvE performance in general. Main class system (shatter) hardly utilized.
Probably just not enough people playing a mesmer though, so it won’t be high on the list anyways…
2. Necro: Seems like the profession goes nowhere and the Dev’s do not know what to do about it. Rethink the concept of the profession and create a solid base.
3. Ranger: Make it work.

1. Ranger – The leaps and sticking on the one handed sword #1 autochain kills the weapon. A generic auto chain would much better (i.e let the ranger move normally while auto attacking on the sword). Maybe ranger could also get some more supportive utilities via pets like a Smoke Drake with a smoke field breath as an example.
2. Necro – The main thing I feel necro lacks compared to other classes is melee cleave. Give them a new weapon, GS, One hand sword, change the axe #1 attack, just give them some form of decent damage but well ballanced melee cleave.
3. Elementalist – A lot of the depression I’ve seen on ele comes from them being a light armored class with the low 10805 base hp. Buffing their base hp imo could alleviate many elementalist problems around survivability and/or “risk VS reward”
Hmmm.. those would be my votes for 3 classes with issues that neeeeed attention.
A few quick thoughts about other classes.
Mesmers could use either some passive Out of Combat IMS on a trait or signet somewhere or more reliable access to swiftness. They probly the main reason why Sup Traveler Runes are at the price they’re at.
For me the issue of warrior dominance is linked to their base stats. A full zerk warrior at lvl 80 in exotic gear has 2127 armor with 18372 hp, stats that an ele would have to stretch at to achive while giving up a lot of potential DPS, while the warrior hasnt had to give up any offensive stats slots for that. Perhaps bumping warriors down to one of the lower HP tiers would make them think more about building their defence in terms of item stats, utilities and traits, while simultaneously taming their DPS to be more inline with what other classes are doing, or atleast make them think more about the risks of running full offensive setups.

1) Mesmer. This is my main profession in GW2, so of course I have a slight bit of bias, but I also have every other profession on my account as well. From my experience in leveling the others after, there are three things that the Mesmer is lacking in: One is the ability to stack swiftness on allies with their ONLY guaranteed swiftness skill (Chaos Storm and Signet of Inspiration do not count as they only happen at chance), along with the lack of swiftness overall. I feel that there should be a signet that gives a movement speed increase just like almost every other profession has. Mesmer is so slow and if you try to get out of anything, you pray that either Temporal Curtain or Blink are off cooldown. Two is only ONE blast skill (IF you use torch). I feel that for the great sword skill Mind Stab, that could easily have a blast combo finisher. I don’t feel this would be OP, but if so, then I will gladly direct someone to an engineer I saw in PvP today who used about 3-4 blast finishers in the span of 5-6 seconds. Lastly, IMHO, the Domination line is terrible at 30 points in. Confounding Suggestions is nice, but still feels underwhelming compared to some of the other 30 point major traits. The 1 extra Mantra cast feels pointless and squandered at the 30 point line. It feels like it belongs in a 20 point slot I guess that making it give 2 extra casts might be OP, but give some slight extra incentive for it. Also, if the main focus of a Domination Mesmer is to interrupt, can we get some interrupt skill improvements? Mantra of Distraction is decent. Not great, but the closest the Mesmer can get to an instant interrupt at the moment.
2) Ranger. Oh dear. I just don’t know. I don’t feel there is much reward for going with a Ranger over another class. I like my Ranger and I want to play him more often, but my damage output is underpowered compared to Warrior, Engineer, and especially Necromancer. Traps are fine. Spirits could be better. I appreciate the new trait spot for unbound spirits, but weapons don’t really seem to give good damage, at least from my experience. The survival level of the Ranger when compared to others in 1v1 combat that happens every so often in team sPvP games is pretty low. Even in PvE it feels like things take longer to kill than other professions. The pets are nice, but they are a little squishier than necessary (I get they aren’t supposed to be invincible or super strong, but they could have a little more of a chance in a fight I feel), and while I understand the pet has been the main focus and pull of being a ranger, they mostly seem to get in the way rather than help.
EDIT 3) Warrior. Holy OP, Batman. 1v1ing against any warrior whatsoever, be it in WvW or trying to defend a capped point in sPvP, is ridiculous. Where there should be somewhat of an equal fight with strengths and weaknesses on both sides with an Ele vs a Warrior, the Warrior has the unfair advantage with somehow being able to stack every boon in creation onto them. I am not sure if this is just traits and skills alone or used in conjunction with runes and sigils. All I know is in a battle against a friend’s ranger and my ele, the warrior managed to down us in less than 2 minutes with his exploited build with us only being able to last long enough to possibly take a mediocre amount of health when he used healing and condition removal.
Honorable Mention: Thief. I have a hard time finding good synergy on my thief with in PvE, but more so in PvP. It might be just me; I can’t pinpoint specific details, but when I remember them or find more, I will be sure to post.

This class is supposed to be the prototypical glass cannon, but in the end it just doesn’t really live up to this. Super squishy, and outside of ice bows, essentially isn’t really used much.
