10/10 – for proper Sylvari names, and the fact that I’m imagining them as twin brothers.

9/10, very suitable, I just don’t believe in perfect scores so that makes 9/10 kind of like a perfect score (I’m going to stop now).

Mine are likely to get rather low scores considering they don’t really fit in with lore, but they let me get my biology on since all the names are inspired by the scientific names of various plants aaaand I felt like sharing.

My male warrior is named Arnghus, Arn for short.
Got Arn from the novels/movies Arn – The Knight Templar. It’s Swedish but I’ve always really liked the name so I just went with it.
The “ghus” part is a different spelling of Gus that was part of some Celtic names that I saw while looking for a name. Aonghus, Ferghus etc.

I’ll be making a Sylvari character as soon as the maintenance stops.
I was thinking Vysarya for a Thief or a Mesmer.
[“Vy – sar – ria”] – How I’d would pronounce it.

8/10. It’s got a nice tone to it, but the two Y’s make the spelling look a little mangled. I think Vysaria would also capture your pronunciation better, since the Y implies a “-yuh” sound instead of “-eeya.”

What do you think about “Rosabis”? She’s an Ele with a dark color scheme. I’ve been considering changing it, but I can’t decide.

I finally got me a heavy armoured Sylvari, a guardian by the name Rhyswyr (meaning champion)

My Sylvari thief is named “R T Choke”. I like witty names but I realize they’re not everybody’s fav. At least it gave some guildies a chuckle.

I named my engineer Gelaval, kind of a shortened version of Gustav de Laval, a mechanical engineer who may have invented the impulse turbine.

I love the title “Quickspring”, that’s like taken from a good Fantasy novel, and it fits with the elementalist theme so well. Only reason it does’t get 10/10 is because “Yama” doesn’t quite sit right with me. It keeps the 9 because of how easily it flows off the tongue though.

Alright, reasoning behind my characters name is that all NPC sylvari have irish roots to their name and I have been reading a series of books with an irish main character. First name is just a name i liked and last name is the last name of the Irish god of the sea.

8/10 – not a bad name at all. But the 1st name just doesn’t sound right to me.

My sylvari ranger name is Ventru Do Urden – Ventru is a nickname I use in many games/websites and Do Urden is a surname of a Forgotten Realms novels character Drizzt Do’Urden. And my pet is called Drizzt of course. :P BTW Ventru is a variation of a major bloodline of vampires called Ventrue.

I just made two more Sylvari! My Mesmer is named Gwinnel, a descendant of the Old English “Cwenhild”. My Engi is Taniard, from the novel Tansy Taniard.

Both of them definitely sounds like names that Sylvari usually have!
Gwinnel is kind of hard to pronounce , so that’s why I gave it a 7/10.
I do like the name Taniard though, and that’s why I gave it a 9/10.

My Sylvari is a Necromancer named Woethryl, a combination between the two words “Woe”, and “Thrill”. I thought it was quite fitting. Oh, and I also wrote “thryl” instead of “thrill” on purpose, because I thought it looked better.

- For my thief. She was my first character and my main I can’t leave behind. “Samantha” is a reference to Sam Carter from Stargate: SG1, the most favourite woman character of mine. The name is also beautiful IMO. “Brightleaf” is something to represent.. just being a sylvari. Leaf is obvious, and bright is there to show that the existence of my character has a reason, a goal, to make the world around her better, brighter. Even if playing a thief (a dark themed class) I prefer following noble goals and designs, doing everything with pure love and a magnanimous way of thinking.

Ren Iris – She is a guardian. Ren is a unisex japanese name that means “love / lotus”. Iris has multiple reasons as a choosen name. I wanted to create a name that tells you something, gets your imagination working, creating something I want you to see. This idea lead me to eyes, as (IMO) the most beautiful and unquestionably honest, sincere, “open” thing in the world. Iris comes from here, on one side. On the other, Iris is also a white / purple, stunningly beautiful flower in japan ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_iris ). It also relates to the white/grey skin of my guardian with purple glowing colors.

I’m sorry, they just sound so uninspired!

My sylvari warrior is Cerulean Serenade. I had been planning on using it on an elementalist but instead called my ele Vetiver Rose, which sounds a bit uninspired too!

I like the name Cerulean Serenade and rate a 9.
My Sylvari is a Necro and her name is Cuileann Darach. It is Scottish Caelic and means Holly Oak.

Cuileann Darach – 8/10. It’s very creative and I find it original.

My Theif (m) is Leifucius (Lay-few-see-us)
My Necro (f) is Braedinth (Brr-aye-dinth)

And I basically “hand-vomited” (a term my friend and I came up with, it basically means we close our eyes and slap our hands on the keyboard) and added vowels where it seemed appropriate lol.

My sylvari necromancer is Dæmös (my variation on the word Deimos, which was a character in Greek mythology who “personified fear”)
My warrior is Rœn, and my guardian is Rœl. I liked the simple names and figured they could be born from the same pod or something, and they’re pronounced like “row-en” and “row-ull”
And lastly, my elementalist’s name is Niæn (“Ni-ayn”)

I think they all get 10/10
I know my engineer Telarmarna does not have a very sylvari name but I like the feel of it. (It was supposed to be Telamarna)

Nice naming sense… I’d rate all of them perfectly fitting the Sylvari, 9.5/10.
The only one I’d give an 8 is your ranger; for some personal brain weirdness on my part the -or at the end of the name doesn’t sit right with me. Your necromancer’s name I like the most.

My Necromancer sylvari is called Kurozakura Ze. Ze being added to all my characters, so people in guild know how to remember me, as I like to level/play my alts.

Kuro meaning black and sakura meaning cherry blossoms in Japanese. Black for the necro theme; cherry blossoms have something beautiful yet sorrowful in them how they shatter in the wind. My necro also sees death as something that has beauty in it’s sorrow.

PS: I saw the name “Orang Utan Claus” for a guardian in this thread. It reminded me of Klaus in gw: factions, who choses to sacrifice his mortal life and become a Juggernaught – a plantlike guardian of the echovalt forest. Not sure if it was intended, but I think it’s pretty awesome nonetheless^^

I named mine: Kaimera Voidspawn.
Voidspawn because sylvari are not born the traditional mammal way and since mine comes at the cycle of the night.
