As someone with many duplicate (mostly expensive :P) dyes across his 8 toons, I’m curious about this as well.

I have no idea about dyes, but I feel the same (sort of) about the exclusive dyes, like Pyre, Molten, and Cinders, that I have dupes of.

…I’m altogether too happy, though, about the new system to be so unhappy about it that I request anything though.

Just thought I’d make a thread to say I’m really excited about the Wardrobe! Most people on the forums prefer to whine and rage all the time, unfortunately.

What ANet needs is to see that some of us appreciate their work.

I see the majority of people posting positively.

But.. criticism or a valid complaint does not equal whining or raging. It’s getting seriously tiresome to see how people catagorise anything they don’t like or disagree with as whining, crying, raging, QQing, etc. Sure there is some of that out there, but the vast majority of criticism comes from adults who don’t deserve to have their posts boiled down to such childish terms.

The dyes? No. You get an account wide unlock of the dye, and an unidentified dye per duplication. But they’ll probably be worth a bit on the TP by then.

Yah, I just read that part. Dunno how I missed it first couple times.

I am saving every spare penny I have to unleash in the gem store come patch day, lol! I can finally buy those darling quaggan hats!

Here’s also hoping I can cash in on all the extra weapon skins I’ve been hoarding, like the aetherized daggers etc … imagine people may be wanting to buy those from the TP for a permanent unlock …

I hadn’t even thought about that. I wonder if the skins for the BLTs become unlocked as well….

Imagine only needing to fight with rng the one time to get that torment skin unlocked for account use. Or zodiac. Or whatever the valentine’s day one was… There isn’t anything saying that these are to be excluded.

Ow, my head hurts.

I see no reason for them not to be – cruel blow if they didn’t make them unlocked as well!

Since they’re unlocking legendaries … I imagine all the BL ticket skins will be unlocked too (crosses fingers and toes).

Honestly this wardrobe and the account wide dyes are two things we the players have been screaming for since the game went live.

And to this customer they knocked it out of the ballpark!

Anet deserves much praise for not only listening to their player base, but surpassing all this user’s wishes. But I guess haters gonna hate no matter what, sad really.

aww geez- didn’t think about that- shouldn’t have sold that one Lovestruck pistol I had because it didn’t match. lol
Good question.

I wonder if it goes for the Gems Skins?
that would make a lot of people very happy and promote a lot of skin sales from the Gem Store in the future since people didn’t like buying them for one time use

As someone with many duplicate (mostly expensive :P) dyes across his 8 toons, I’m curious about this as well.

Duplicate dyes will be handled by giving you unid dye for each duplicate dye you have.

What the didn’t talk about was multiple sets bought from gem shop so I am interested if they plan to handle that like they handled account bound gathering tools. I personally would be ok if they decide not to refund those as the new feature is sooo worth it.

I agree, I don’t see any reason why they wouldn’t be either. After all, it sounds like the gemstore armor becomes an unlocked skin, they specifically call out Scarlet’s Spaulders in the blog as an example.

Still, just takes a minute to absorb. Ya know?

I’m fairly sure when the patch goes live, you’ll be able to get a refund. This said, you may just want to keep them anyway, since you won’t need transmutation charges to put them on anything.

Well, I know the transmutation charges would be cheaper than the cost of the skin was, I’d be happy for a refund in gems for the duplicates. Either way it’s money I’ve already spent with ANET to be spent on something else in the Gem Store. They lose nothing this way.

It’s not like I’m saying “Hey give me my money back!” I just want to know if the items we’ve already, apparently mistakenly, stockpiled will be reimbursed for.

So far the reception to the new feature packs have not exactly been overly positive. The problem is that they have a good idea which people are on board for but the execution is not perfect which people complain about.

Personally I am not angry or upset, but neither am I excited and happy about any of the new features so far… wait did I say new? Perhaps that is the problem, nothing is really new. They have obviously worked very hard (I have to put this here or the two words left and right get censored) on changing so many things that were not really broken to begin with, it feels almost as though they are wasting time.

I am still waiting for a blog about these `brand-new systems´ they told us were coming, so far all it seems to be is tweaked/fixed old systems.

I feel ya!

And you’re right, they do specifically mention gem store skins (with the ref to the Spaulders). So if they do it for armours, they should do it for weapons – I mean, we still have to get chests for tickets to get any more that we want (or buy from TP). I don’t see that it hurts them in any way.

I like how all the concerns being posted have been reduced to “lack of reading comprehension” or people with 2 of the same legendaries like somehow these are the only concerns.

If there’s no change to transmute acquisition then it’ll be nothing more than a continuation of its cost becoming more and more expensive only this time with a nice UI and a bit less faff to rub it in our faces and it’ll probably come with an increased cost for <80 characters than it does now unless the cost in charges is determined by item level but i doubt it. I’d suspect transmuting a level 30 sword will cost 1 charge and a level 80 sword also being 1 charge.

First off, let me say that I think the recently announced wardrobe and dye system changes sound like they have the potential to be amazing.

However, there was one small issue I ran into that I would like some clarification on.

Currently, if we have multiple armor sets (whether that means different skins for different stat sets or different outfits for role players) we can easily swap to them freely.

In the announcement post/video, however, it was a little unclear whether we will still have this option. I was under the impression originally that the wardrobe transmutation system was simply used for transmutation – meaning when one cosmetic had to be applied to one stat set.

In the video, it almost seemed that the wardrobe slot would always take priority, so once I had a certain appearance set equipped, I would be stuck with it until I used more transmutation charges.

My question, then: Will we still be able to carry around extra outfits and change into them, whether by simply equipping them or by hiding our wardrobe set? Or will we require a transmute charge each time we want to change outfits?

My thoughts about the legendary issue follow on from the others here.

I wonder how it will affect the costs of legendaries, I can see a demand for tradeable weapons just to unlock the skin and then resell.

According to the article, having it doesn’t unlock the skin. You have to account bind it or salvage it. Once you do that you can’t sell it again.

I’d like to see them do something similar to insignia slots from gw1 – ie, just let us change on the fly. We can purchase insignia already from the tp, or we can craft it ourselves, now just let us change them out on the armor like we could in gw1. Rather than having to craft a whole new piece of armor.

Lets give them some time though. It took them years to implement that into gw1, so I don’t expect it so just happen at the drop of a hat here.

Still, very pleased with the wardrobe and dye changes. Very, very pleased.

After that, how about a better way of lugging around multiple sets of armor? We never really solved that one in gw1 either. And no, equipment bags really weren’t the answer..

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

We don’t quite know how it’s going to work yet, or what costume items are going to be affected. So just be patient and hope for the best

I have a sleeveless shirt, and gathering shorts. Neither are available, both will be affected.

A more important question is ‘why’ they felt they needed to get rid of them to begin with? Is the combination of getting rid of them, knowing they’d just make them tonics under this system, designed to make us ‘not’ want to use them?

Which is all well and good except the cost of transmutes in gold is ever increasing which will inevitably result in a de facto pay wall.

My concerns have nothing to do with the existence of a wardrobe or anything but about monetisation. If monetisation wasn’t an issue i’d be really hyped but alas i do not trust Anet.

As much as I’m excited about this, I’m also worried about my duplicate Braham’s set and Rox’s Quiver.

Both of those were bought with real cash in the gem store, not gold, and I’d feel quite ripped-off if that was just ignored. It wouldn’t be a good image for Anet if gem store stuff had no refund.

Anyway, they gave a refund when it came to gathering tools when it became account bound, I hope they consider the same here.

Yes. Once the skin is unlocked…. its just like the zenith weapons or the hom skins in that it will be available forever across your account. You just have to use a transmute charge to use its appearance, which isnt really any different than having to use a stone or crystal currently.

Yes. Once the skin is unlocked…. its just like the zenith weapons or the hom skins in that it will be available forever across your account. You just have to use a transmute charge to use its appearance, which isnt really any different than having to use a stone or crystal currently.

Wonderful! Thank you for the information!
