GW2 Sneak Peek @ PAX South.
A lot of people on forums probably already have a legendary, are bored and so they forum stalk and talk disrespect because they don’t know what to do now, well stop being a noob and join the wvw and pvp side of the game? I always hear people say how scared they are to pvp cos they get GGed all the time, probably a kid who stole their mums credit card.
Respect the game and enjoy what is made, no one forces you to pay a cent.
Guild wars has a massive amount of free space if you are to blind to see it on the map, to create new areas like silverwastes/drytop. They might even be workin on Cantha or Elona since they are major aspects of guild wars 1, but why would they want to share that with us?
People who complain coughs If you think you have some great ideas and want to change the game well why don’t you buy out arena net and go ahead with your plans?
You are making some horribly kittenumptions regarding those of us who voice our issues with the game. Fact is not everyone LIKES to play WvW or PvP and there are still many of us that HAVE done the dungeons, HAVE played WvW regularly, HAVE done PvP and have been playing in the GW universe since GW1 beta and still have many valid concerns with the both the direction of the game and the overall feeling of disrepect from Anet.
Fact is there is a real problem here that Anet seems to like to ignore all while trying desperately to make money off of its dwindling player-base through the gemstore and its many vets of the series that are so vocal because we HAVE invested much of our time into a game that is spiraling downward. We are vocal because we are seeing a ship we love going down and when we are asked for suggestions we are usually met with crickets and then “look more shinies in the gemstore” posts.
Its like taking the canary into the mine then when it falls over telling it to stop being so dramatic. Guess what, its not actually pining for the fjords.
*edit: wow Anet. The kitten filter is so strong as to completely stymie and actual word in the English language?

me?
No word on what the announcement is. No leaks or rumors. It’s anyone’s guess right now: it could be something trivial like Season 3 of Living Story or something very much needed like a full blown expansion. We’ll see!
(edited by Vix.6730)
Rumor has it that GW2 will be leaving the alpha stage soon and they’re going to announce the open beta.
Everyone will get everything they complained about!
So start making a new list of complaints
can i get a source to the big news announcement
If only they had given a date, a place and a time for us to find out what is happening.
You’re better off waiting for the announcement at pax, nobody here knows what it will be. It might be big or it might be small. I couldn’t imagine thwy would book a spot in the main room for something small though.
Living Story season 3.
SAB as standalone game for next gen consoles and PC
“Cantha is coming.”
probably an overhyped announcement of something trivial, as tends to be done at these pax events by most game developers
If it’s not an expansion (which it won’t be), people will expect the next announcement to be “expansion!” .. and when that’s not, they’ll expect the one after that to be … etc.
What it will be is someone standing in front of the audience, looking off stage as if to be assured they got the right announcement, then look at their feet. Before sighing and reading from the sheet.
“GuildWars 2 is finally getting a proper OSX client.”
ANet will do a Squeenix and troll everyone with news of an expansion…. to GW1!
Build templates pls…
The Order of Calamity [OOC] is recruiting!
5/8 Champion titles
open world pvp…or at least a server with that.
HoT = WvW players forced to PVE
Everyone will get everything they complained about!
So start making a new list of complaints
I’ll believe it when i see it. There’s a track record here you see, it’s been repeated several times so you’ll forgive me if I don’t hold my breath.
I’ve not seen anything myself either, no speculation or rumor websites cropping up.
This is what will happen:
1. Usual suspects will speculate on things that they want to see in this game (expansions, mounts, etc),
2. Other people will note the speculation and throw even more speculation into the mix,
3. At some point, the original speculation will turn into statements of fact by forum members and even promises despite no official word on anything,
4. Anet may or may not make an announcement at PAX,
5. Regardless, the people who made their wild speculations will berate Anet for failing to keep their promises (which were never made) or announcing that expansion which was never on the table and those forum members with overactive imaginations and an inability to discern the difference between speculation and rumour (that they themselves invented) and quantifiable information will flood the forums calling out Anet as liars, indulge in conspiracy theories and claim the game is “dying”.
6. Anybody who calls the fantasists out will be labelled “White Knights” – the new buzzphrase around these parts.
7. Rinse and repeat for next gaming event or “announcement”.

hahahahahaha… good one sir thanks
The link to the announcement is in the OP in https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/GW2-Sneak-Peek-PAX-South/first
“Cantha is coming.”
<3
I think they’ll release Elona before cantha this time though!
My guess?
“GW2 will be moving towards a subscription-based model due to metrics we have collected among X, Y groups that don’t play the game.”
Anyone else notice that there is just that posting of some major announcement, but everyone on the forum is hyping it up?
hohoho i heard something big gonna happen on pax south right???
Not really. They did announce they will be talking about GW2 on Pax, but nobody claimed they are going to reveal anything big or important.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Anyone else notice that there is just that posting of some major announcement, but everyone on the forum is hyping it up?
Don’t know what you’re talking about. As usual, after the announcement we’ll hear how ArenaNet hyped it up too much and under-delivered.
I can’t seem to find anything in the article about a “big announcement”. Also i find it strange that on the main GW2 page there is a headline announcing another $50,000 Competetive tourney at PAX east in Boston during March, yet nothing about PAX south, which comes in January.
In fact the article pretty much describes 2014 PAX:
The Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle, Washington is coming up soon!
If you’re going to be at PAX, stop by “The Future of Online Games” panel on Friday, August 29, at 6:00 p.m. in the Sphinx Theatre, to hear Game Director Colin Johanson and other MMORPG industry veterans discuss where online games are headed and answer questions from fans.
New expansion 100€.

Carry on.

Holy crap…..so. Much. Truth. Why didn’t I read this earlier?
Now tell me next weeks lotto numbers.

I skipped right past this when I read This is what will happen:
I apologize.
Nothing was announced in the first. Anet barely mentioned anything and all the hype is created by the players more or less. Don’t get your hopes too high. Yeah, soemthing interesting maybe announced but it also could be nothing.
All we know is that Anet is actually attending Pax south and will be taking the main theatre for 1 hour 30 mins. The ones who will take care of this are Mike O’Brien and Colin Johanson. The describtion is: ‘’Join ArenaNet president and co-founder Mike O’Brien and Guild Wars 2 game director Colin Johanson for an exclusive sneak peek at what’s next in Guild Wars 2 and be among the first to hear how we’re setting up a new framework for how an MMO can grow its universe. The Living World was just the beginning.’’
People are getting hyped up because of the date of the announcement. Also the fact that Mike O’Brien doesn’t really attend such events even when Anet is there. As the president of the company he usually takes care of important announcements. We will see how it all works up.
ANet will do a Squeenix and troll everyone with news of an expansion…. to GW1!
I would b quite happy with this. So much was left dangling. So much we where going to see but didn’t. I want to know what happened to Evenia!

There is a big chance it’s gem store related, something like they did for china where you pay for features.
ArenaNet presents:
GW1, a TellTale game.
Winter is coming.
Invasion of Jormag Expansion!
Oh ya and Kodan going to be the new race.

We’ve been waiting for the dragon a freaking year, so hopefully something will happen and it won’t be a permanent build up to nothing.

The more specific page is at http://south.paxsite.com/schedule/panel/guild-wars-2-beyond-the-point-of-no-return
As linked in the other thread on this issue that I linked some posts above this.
For those who cannot go to that link for whatever reason, the relevant text is:

That was there is in my opinion the key word.
ANet will do a Squeenix and troll everyone with news of an expansion…. to GW1!
That would be preferable to an expansion to GW2 imo.
Living Story season 3.
Pretty much and I’m sure it’s something esport related.
Commando Class to be released in February.
Holy Epic!!!!
The only thing you can bet one is that it’s going to cost us $$$.
Hope it’s not to announce an expansion. Who needs to pay for a couple weeks worth of content? Also hoping there’ll be some fresh stuff for wvw. One can dream…
I predict the announcement that Mike O’Brien is stepping down and that his replacement will be Traehearn.
Traeherne’s first words at the convention will be, “a moment please, Commanders”
Then stand around for 10 min, last words spoke before exit stage left are “this won’t end well”
