It looks like Anet is trying to get people try out other aspects of the game, and I had fun completing them yesterday, although, kind of liked it when combos somewhat was some kind of hidden gem for those who were interested.

How does these dailies works? They alternate from day to day so they are no longer the same each day if I understood correctly? Are there any list of new dailies somewhere? So far:
*Events
*Harvest
*Killing variety
*Killing enemies under water
*Crafting
*Combo kills
(from above post)
*Revive people
*Dodge attacks

Would be fun to put a little more dynamic into it. Like being able to choose your own path for the dailies, so you are not forced upon something. And some dailies, like doing events, would be a could thing to have more often than some others, since that bring people towards the events.

At a later update you’ll be able to chose your set of dailies out of a daily set (x out of y). I think we’ll know the entire set by the end of the week.

Too hard to finish dailies? y’all must be joking.. finished the first daily in half an hour and the second one half an hour past midnight…most of the things you just finish as you go in a play together,like the combo finishers…any easier and they could just give the dailies reward automatically at login…Then people would start complaining that dailies are too trivial

The new setup for dailies is great for new features in the future and the layout has much improved.
with selective objectives in the future you could just decide each day which area of the game you’d like to play,give a little extra magic to each of those areas like obtaining tools from the scout to discover thingies in dungeons and fractals like artifacts that give you some extra money and let you do dailies in another way.
And it is perfect to give new meaning to starting areas in the future too.
Introducing reinforcements to wvw to prevent cullling,based on how your server fights of the enemies of the races in the begin area’s(encounter those in new ways),aid the different cities(roleplayers not neglected) for racial buffs on top of the dailies…
To be short this setup opens doors to loads of possibilities for new features and thats why its a good change to the dailies so far

from what i gather..
people just wants ease 5 minutes content that can be spam to get new gear..
and ones that can be burnt out for just 1 day of playing..
they like to be powerful but doesn’t like the effort and time it takes to be one.
people don’t want other people be “above” them. jealousy and elitism.
can’t stand having none but the BEST gear for all of their 10 characters.
if anet follow in their demands, i doubt “save spotted” people will stay in the game and spam “bored” all over the forums.. in just about a weak after patch release.. which they work long and hard for..

The one I’m a bit bemused by is the complaints about dodging. How can anyone even play the game without dodging? Unless they’re faceplanting every five minutes…

The one I’m a bit bemused by is the complaints about dodging. How can anyone even play the game without dodging? Unless they’re faceplanting every five minutes…

Well, they are used to standing still with their warriors and spamming 100B, habits are hard to break!

People fear change.

Although the Combo achievement appears to be broken at the moment (I completed it fairly quickly while doing a few events but it seemed to be pretty random) the others are quite fun, and are getting me out of the daily circuit rut that I’d got into over the past couple of months.

  • Events – no difference.
  • Gathering – no difference
  • Kill Variety – no difference
  • Underwater Kills – not exactly difficult. If you’re really rubbish at underwater combat go to a 1-15 area and kill underwater mobs there.
  • Crafting – this prompted me to get a bit of a move-on on neglected skills but honestly, if your argument is that you can’t afford to refine 10 Copper Ingots then I feel sorry for you … what is it that you’re doing with the proceeds of the gathering achievement exactly?
  • Combo Kills – as mentioned this needs to be looked at. While achievable, it’s pretty broken in its current form.
  • Revive Allies – given that this works on NPCs it’s frankly trivial. If you can’t think of anywhere that NPCs die, then you probably need to pay attention to your surroundings a bit more.
  • Dodge Attacks – find a mob with a decent “tell” and then get your timing right … I actually found this quite good training. Gives an incentive for not skipping that Lt. Kholer encounter too; though I never do because it’s fun!

I look forward to seeing what subsequent days will bring to the mix.

wow this is the sad why are you people complaining oh I got to actually play the game and not get stuff handed to me how dare anet do this to me oh woh is me.

the combo field is the only one that is somewhat trouble but after finding out you have to have an ally put down a field then you have to make an affect happen from that field like poison/burning and affect the enemy and kill that enemy .

dodge is just get the evade from an enemy attack best with a thief.

this kitten is what I’ve been doing naturally from 3day headstart/beta.

If you find the daily change such game breaking detail then stick to paying world of casualcraft and get things handed to you for sitting around I do not want to see the same fate befall GW2.

New dailies? I can say that it actually puts me off from doing them. I don’t like to be pressed to do things, additionally – when the game mechanics does not take under consideration my timing and play style, but server reset timing only.

I was quite disappointed with dailies before the update, when several times server reset achievements to zeroes, and I wanted the karma reward. I missed rewards many times thanks to such a poor solution.

I would recommend to adjust daily achievements to our login times, we have some things to do in our life away from the game, sometime. If that is undoable, I guess I shall forget the daily race & trauma when it resets nearly on-target.

Crafting? having 400 levels? again, sure I can, but what is the idea behind that? just to make me craft?

Killing underwater – again, I HAVE to do that. What for?

Well, complaining again, right? Expressing my point of view. I kept playing Guildwars for 7 years, so I guess I will probably do the same here. If some part of the game I’d find disappointing, I will just bypass that.

But the dailies used to reward us with karma, and that is something I would like to get.
Maybe mail order?

Did you do the Zaishen quests in GW1? Because those are the same. With only the difference you could queue up on three of each type.

Actually, those Zaishen are worse, because why would I do that mission again? Or do that vanquish again? The dailies should be achievable with normal gameplay.

I’ve decided all the arguments against the new dailies (except the broken ones) are ridiculous.

If any of these were enacted along with the previous set, when dailies went live, no one would say a word. But if they were introduced yesterday, the forums would be like:

Gather from 20 nodes makes me spend money on harvesting tools! Why anet!!
15 Different slayings? Man, you might have to zone!
5 Events? I hate Events, why isn’t Anet catering to ME!
Kill 60 somethings, that’s way to excessive, it’s not like this a game where I kill things!

It’s why we can’t have nice things, and why people just like to complain.

Personally I’ve rather enjoyed the routine of taking a relatively new character around Queensdale looking for the necessary daily events, the gathering points, as wide a variety of monsters as possible, and enough kills, and I wouldn’t mind resurrecting hapless villagers and lionguards, killed by centaurs and wolves – the underwater kills seem a bit of a gimmick, but one could get used to them.

Crafting does seem pretty pointless; salvaging items would be a possibility, as would opening loot bags. Removing graffiti and separatist posters could be an option, and how about killing rats and other white-name beasties… could one stretch things to re-doing “heart” quests if the game mechanics made that possible? Hmm, how about talking to a certain number of NPCs that give one the Talk option… it just shows that it’s not easy to think of relevant activities, no wonder Anet have come up with some “dodgy” ones.

Count me in as someone who does not care for some aspects of the new dailies. I don’t mind them being dynamic, but some of them are tedious and detract from game play like "Combo Killer’ which is just a ridiculously stupid idea. Others like crafting, reviving, etc. I don’t mind and others like Kill Variety, Veterans, etc. I think are good ideas. Bottom line, don’t force us to play the game a very specific way like Combo Killer does in order to achieve the DP.

i already found the daily long. now it is longer. the extra changes are easy to grab in a dungeon, but i think the reduction in enemy types would have been better in reduction of daily events.

Bristleback can’t hit anything? Let’s fix the HP bug instead.

Reviving is not an issue. I remember a lot of spots where there are dead NPC’s. The only issues are when you “absolutely” need someone else to complete your daily… Like the combo killer.

I don’t understand all the complaining from many gamers here. They did not take long to complete yesterday, and I had to find someone that could help me with the finishers (played with a low lvl necromancer, joined up with two warriors), and that was only the first day, will probably get faster as soon as people get more used to them. And since we will have to do much more variety, we will have to try out different aspects of the game. And it is not like you are forced to complete the dailies every day.

And combos is not that hard if you have some finishers or some fields, people use them all the time without noticing. Hope they put in more stuff so everyone will have to seek different parts of the game, like crafting in the mystic forge, salvaging, and so on.

Sound nice. Hope it will be a little more than just “gather a certain amount of these two and get a total of 100% combined”. One thing that could be nice, is adding new ones when one is finished, and make you have to complete three dailies. And make some to interlock with each others, like if you complete a harvesting daily, a new daily pops up with crafting, and maybe sell on black lion trading company or salvage after that, so you always have more than one to choose from until you have done the three for your dailies.

This daily proved to be incredibly easy on my mesmer. The odd thing… I finished my daily from prior right after the patch, then while we were checking out the new stuff in Orr the daily reset, so knocked that one out too. Trying to remember the second…

Underwater kills – killed things underwater in Orr, was easy with the guild group there.
Dodging – Dodging is an instinctive part of combat, got this without even trying.
Combo kills – On my mesmer this came quick by putting up feedback bubbles and Null Fields around the enemies. If allies use your field in the killing shot it counts for you.
Crafting – 10 bronze ingots, check.
Healer – Reviving NPCs in Orr and WvW count as well as reviving allies at temple events in Orr, it came easy actually.

It wasn’t that bad as long as you put yourself in situations to succeed.

You’ve never set up your own combos? On mesmer it’s easy enough… Feedback or Null Field with a greatsword, either GS2 or the phantasm.

We’ll see how this ends up but one of the things Ioved doing was dailies. There are a good number of times when I log in with no specific goal in mind and the dailies were there to do. I really felt like I was ‘bumming’ around the land, doing a bit of this and a bit of that, sometimes keeping my eyes on the achievement tracker, sometimes not but knowing I was getting close to completion. Now it seems like it will be tougher and more rote. Maybe the 4/6 will make it ok. Or maybe better rewards for doing all the bizzarro stuff and keeping the old dailies with karma rewards.

One thing is for sure: I don’t want this to turn into a GW1 argument about whether the game should force us to play in groups or with others, ala the full hero team wars.

You don’t have to be grouped up. You can use someone else’s fields without being in their party.

Thanks, I haven’t tested the new daily myself, I was just judging based on the first few pages of this thread. That makes everything a whole lot easier

My guild is WvW and we had no problems. Plenty of underwater things to kill, plenty of people or quaggans to revive, craft a little, dodge a lot, use your fields in combat. Sneak over to Orr if you want to check out the new backpieces and ammys or do it fully in WvW, both work.

Every single complainer listed here is unbelievable. There was nothing difficult or out of the ordinary for yesterday’s achievement.

As an elementalist who does basically nothing but put down combo fields, this thread just confirms to me that no one has a clue how to use the combo system and avoid my fields like the plague.

We’ve got 9 pages of caveman IQ trolls in here, grunting about how the treasure chest wasn’t automatically there for them when they logged in yesterday.

I appreciate the changes, ANET, keep up the good work!

I agree with Sleepcome. People complain about anything and everything – and before even thinking. Like my old man used to say, “Think first, speak later.”

How can anyone cry about the 10 daily crafted item when all you have to do is refine any mats? Is that really hard? And it goes hand in hand with the 20 daily gathering. Gather 20 stuff, refine it, get both daily done.

Stop your whining, you are only making fools out of yourself, and follow my old mans advice.

I like the new dailys, even thought I’m not a fan of underwater combat. But I like that its different every day. Keep going Anet, don’t listen to the troll and naysayers.

Dailies in general are a terrible idea. First of all, they completely go against the “play how you want”. Not only are dailies not fun, and now being forced on us for all these new rewards, but they also prevent me from playing when I want. How I want to play is to log in and do what is fun… not run around trying to make sure I kill 13 different enemies, making sure I complete 5 events, etc every single day. If I want to just log in one day and only do some dungeons then I miss out on the daily rewards. If I want to not log in one day I miss out on laurels, even if I log in another day and play 15 hours. In fact, dailies have the opposite effect and make me want to log off and not log back in.

Also, the new dailies have the side effect of causing weird behavior from players as they try and get their rewards. People allowing others to go down so they can get credit for reviving them? People running in circles around a single enemy dodging him until they get credit for that daily? That’s the kind of stuff I’m seeing and it’s a detriment to the game. This is even worse in PvP where they never should have added dailies. Ever notice how there are now 7 people trying to cap every point? Yeah, they just want their 3 caps for the daily. This doesn’t promote sPvP, it makes people do stupid things that is detrimental to the gameplay overall.

This game has way too many things on daily timers and daily achievements, now that they have TWO unique currencies (mystic coins and laurels), just are a terrible idea all around.

You do if you want Ascended Amulets, or the new infusions, or any of the new rewards exclusive to laurels.

We’ll see tomorrow how the dailies change, however I personally am not pleased with the combo kill with an ally one. It likely isn’t that hard to do, but it forces me to find someone to help me complete the daily. Before today’s patch, dailies could be done solo or with a group – player’s preference. Now you have to find someone. I’m not complaining that finding someone is necessarily hard – but I am complaining that it forces a playstyle and takes away some of my freedom to play as I want to.

Now that the combo kill with ally item was removed, I found today’s dailies to be a lot of fun. I’ve seen some grumbling about the daily dodger, but I found that to be a fun one and it didn’t take that long to fulfill either.

This is ridiculous guys why are you so lazy Jesus moaning about stupid things. ‘OH NO I HAVE TO CRAFT 10 THINGS!’ crafting is easy all u have to do is craft 10 things it took me less than 1 minute no joke this is just dam right laziness. I don’t want to do it because the game is keeping me busy and i can’t be arsed to move a finger unless i get an exotic for it! by adding dailies. Exotics aren’t just going to roll into your bags while you lot just stand there moaning about crafting 10 things.

Oh no i have to do combo finishes, its so difficult – this worked fine i did this within 20 minutes all you have to do is fire through an AOE its easy as killing a level 1 Skritt! Company’s like this work for hours a day, months and sometimes even years to add new content for you and you repay them with constant moaning and complaining about a few new dailies that take some of your time other than pressing 1! and letting auto attack do your dirty work .

So what you don’t want them to add new content and keep the same game all the way through, Yeah! because that wont get boring when everything’s done…will it. This topic is a failure and basically show’s how ungrateful most of you are.

How about enjoy what your given instead of complaining about every new thing they add before they totally stop adding content.

Be grateful for the time they spend to fix there bugs and there new content to satisfy you all. Imagine if you worked there spending 18 hour’s working on a bug that just wont go and then finally you fixed it and people just moun at you for fixing it for them…

Say what you want to the comment i got my point across and i will always stand up for the developers.

Thank you Anet for the new content and time you take to give it to us =) sorry we don’t all think the same…

The other bad thing about dailies is that it is essentially just a time limited reward. Want an Ascended amulet? Just make sure you log in for an hour or so every day for 30 days. This isn’t “fun”.

Many, many people log in just to get the daily done so they don’t fall behind that day. Sometimes I don’t have much time to play and I don’t log in to play with friends that day, I just log in to do the daily since it’s just a time limited reward and I can’t catch up on it later.

I log on one day and I play 16 hours. The next day I don’t log on. Another player logs on 2 days in a row for 2 hours each time. He gets double the progress I get towards an Ascended amulet. Why is this good?

some poeple dont want to craft. I for example was saving it for later levels for the easier leveling.

The daily now takes much longer, this was supossed to be a casual game. I cant quickly pop on and do my daily for an alt to level now. I simply dont have the time.

The Allied Combo kills was bugged and has been officially stated as so.

Great update… not. Hence the views and responses on here.
