Over 3K hours on main acct., about 400 on 2nd. 13K Achieves. Did all the usual stuff – No Precursor. Felt the curse. I did see a pretty good increase in Rare and Exotic drops as MF on main crossed 150%.

During the final Scarlett event I bought 30 bucks in gems on each account. Forged the Legend and dropped Scarlett’s Kiss on main account and dropped The Chosen on the 2nd account in less than 2 weeks. Gems On -> Cruse Off? I sure hope not.

I’ve spent a fair bit on gems over the last year or so of playing, and can tell you this conspiracy theory is unfounded.

So I have a question. Where do all of the rares/exotics come from that you guys buy to throw into the forge? Cause if it comes from the TP, aren’t you guys still paying people who got “lucky” enough to find said rares/exotics? You’re still paying other people for a precursor in the long run… just in smaller payments, right?

you will have your time, I felt the same way then in the same month I got 4 precursors..

1 & 2: Was trying my luck with 100g in the forge for The Colossus to make juggernaut, 2 forges in I got one… forged the rest for the hell of it and got another towards the end.

3. A week later I dumped 40g into the forge to do my “mystic Forgesmith” daily requirement… Got Dawn from it.

4. about 2 weeks later fighting Yaks Bend in Briar just before I died I spammed ’F" on a chest and got Leaf of Kadzu. (Pic)

Before that I have had nothing, and since then I have put a tonne of gold into forge for nothing so now I went back to only “trying” when doing the forge is a quick way to get daily done.

May we know how many hrs do you have on your account?

No RNG is truly random, but the better ones feed values of high precision into a chaos function to give a better semblance of randomness.

Knowing how the algorithm works is one thing, but does anyone at Anet actually do a statistical analysis to check the bias isn’t too biased?

We also have no way of knowing if precursors are always in the loot table. I see no reason why the drop rate isn’t made public unless it’s not a fixed rate. Does Anet control the amount of precursors that drop day to day? If too many drop is there a failsafe that kicks in to remove them from the loot table?

I’ve said it before. There is nothing legendary about legendaries lol.

1. It’s a ‘grind’ in a game that prides itself on not being one.

2. There are absolutely no quests involved to personalize it so that having a legendary means something to your character.

3. Nobody thinks back an enjoys the time and work they invested in getting a legendary unless they are a masochist. It’s time they would rather forget. Or in some cases money they would have rather spent elsewhere.

Legendaries should have a lengthy quest chain that is actually fun and challenging. And at the end perhaps fight maybe a legendary boss. The process could still be time based so people can’t complete it in a day, and it can still take materials. But the one thing missing from them is the ‘legendary factor.’ Right now Legendaries are nothing but consolation prizes for months of self torture.

Precursors could be given from a quest chain all their own. At least people would have some hope to ever get one without having to buy it off the TP. One idea could be to have a quest chain set up for a ‘soulbound’ percursor>legendary. That way the currenty system still exists for people who’d rather just buy one. But if they want to be sure to get one in the next ten years, have a quest chain.

Don’t forget about the Economy manipulators, that are forcing precursors to go to absurd prices, buying all the stock, days ago i saw some going from 500g to 900g just because.

And yes ANet, of course game is big enough to not be possible to manipulate economy… tell that to the guilds dedicated to spend dozens of thousands of gold on TP.

Well, you can raise prices only to a degree at which people refrain from buying. And I have apparently missed the universal memo where “manipulating the economy”, also known as trading according to supply and demand, is defined as bad.

I have played 3k hours and gotten 6 precursor drops so I think the system is all right. Heck, once I got two precursors in row from the forge.

Broken as intended.

(When I say a biased hidden +luck factor it’s been demonstrated on youtube that one can go thru and create multiple toons, look for factors while playing beginner zones that indicate your account has this +luck stat through gameplay, then level it, get to max level and drops will be on par with the players who get multiple precursors.)

If there is a video, I’d like to see that. Please link it.

I think the video may have been deleted (often happens to those who work in the field of reporting on games because they have contracts with big companies to do these videos for money and I’ve seen too often where these companies bully these individuals) but here’s a great reddit conversation I’ve seen on the subject. There are quite a number of parallels between D3’s economic structure and this title.

lucky unlucky accounts

now keep in mind no one has any idea if they actually addressed this but my guess is it’s still a problem considering how it’s the standard in the math used in these RNG systems for games, and how I keep seeing reports of other players having the exact same experience as I have in game. nothing of value dropping. (rares or exotics even with boosts).

I guess I’m not a majority on this but I feel like working hard for the gold to buy the item feels more rewarding than gambling for it on Mystic forge, then again I never liked any sort of gambling and never will. And there is nothing wrong with buying it either.

And as some post mentioned earlier, farming an legendary from scratch without the help of trading doesn’t make a good player either, nor does buying one for gems, so don’t base player skills in PvP after an item you grind in PvE.

From a programming standpoint, a computer cannot give a truly random number so I’d like to know exactly how they determine who gets a golden ticket.

True random using the noise from the universe because it’s unpredictable would give the best results. The drops don’t appear random so I doubt that’s in use.

4.2k hours played since headstart, +1k gold down the forge, 0 precursor drops yet 4 legendaries and 1 precursor waiting to be crafted all thanks to the wonders of the TP.

If you want a legendary then just buy the kitten thing from the TP.

Exactly! Just proves that the game is pay-to-play. This recent patch only emphasises that fact by making it now impossible to grind mats in dungeons, world events etc, thus we have to turn to the precious TP.

I agree precursor drop rate is absurdly low and its pure RNG…..BUT

People seem to forget that making a legendary should very difficult and time consuming, which is why it is a legendary
It is already quite sad to see every player having 1-2 legendary weapons, making them not so special anymore.
A legendary should take almost a year to make however it doesn’t.
What you are trying to do by using the forge is taking a short cut and hoping you will win the lottery.

Do people cry and kitten about not winning the lottery in real life? Yes some do, but we know how absurd someone will sound if they say that the chance of winning lottery is too low….
Or do most people get a proper job and slowly build their equity.

Sorry, but, you are incorrect in your definition of something being legendary, something that is legendary is an object/item that is remarkable/famous/celebrated/renowned and is based on legends of old, there is NOTHING LEGENDARY about legendaries except for being able to obtain one by some. Now I agree they shouln’t be easily obtained, but, NOT seemingly impossible by a select few(and I say select few because I still say it’s a conspiracy) while others get multiples almost daily

Getting all the materials required for a legendary is intense. The super rich can just buy them, and some of them actually need to be bought anyway, but the standard player is just going to have to grind the regular mats out. Because that is no small task, it would be nice if players had some way to get a guaranteed precursor of their choice, which they can do whatever they want with (sell or create). This could be an add-on to Personal Story or even a reward for completing it all (one pre/account) or some kind of quest or long event chain. That way anyone who wants a legendary can truly get one. This RNG is a disaster, and the average player isn’t going to be able to get enough money to buy it with prices like they are.

My rage ends when I get my precursor. Although I’d settle for 750 gold, I’m a cheap date.

Putting level 80 rates into the forge and getting back sub 80 exos does not make me happy.

I’m done with chasing a precursor I’ve been salvaging my exos and rares. I’ll work on finding something else to do in game until I get a precursor drop which tbh I never expect to happen.

This system is kittened.
