Well, I was hopeful.
I am back to drops on less than 50 percent of my kills and it is all junk drops.
And I wonder why none of my friends log in and the 4 Guilds I am a member of no one logs in anymore….
Since this patch the DR bug has gotten worse, and now even the few places where I USED to get loot are dropping nothing but blues or worse.
I mean it. Not. One. Thing. Over. Blue. in 3 hours of play last night.
I hear you. It’s been days for me since champ dropped ANYTHING, much less the crap they usually did. I was getting better loot off trash mobs then champs, for a fraction of the effort. Now, I don’t waste my time with them.
it’s odd… last week specifically monday , tuesday and wed.. i tried farming at orr.. monday i got 4 yellows., tuesday i got 4 yellow and an exotic and wed i got 2 yellows and black dye ( didn’t bother to take a screen shot) but comes thursday up until today… those yellows were gone.,, no more exotic too… and bunch of whites , some blue and greens and mold bags… i wonder what happen…
and ohh a wooden chest full of porous bones
was very happy .. and started think life in orr is getting better …

It seems they gathered enough information from us? (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Dragon-chest-bugged/page/3#post1440169)
I think it is a critical point where they are now and how they will decide to handle all related loot issues.
If they focus on us costumers (and on our money), they will present us a lovely and satisfying solution (regardless if it was a perceived or non-perceived issue.. it was a huge and game breaking issue for many of us!). -> people that would love to play their game will stay and play
If they insist that it is mainly working as intended and will do nothing to mollify the masses, they will lose more and more players. :-(
Don’t push us away from your game!
Hopefully they will be back on track soon and cheer us up. :-)

SIGH
I bet we’ll see in a few weeks time, multiple posts with:
“Help! DR is affecting my Guilds rewards on Guild Missions!”
Then the subsequent post from devs to relay more "concrete evidence of percieved strange rewards…
I know this doesn’t quite relate to the topic but an hour ago I bought and used like 70 of those Jewellery Boxes in Orr and got only karma stuff and 15 Obsidian Shards. Previously when I used them I got at least 1 lodestone. I hope it was just rng being a d.ck and they haven’t stealth nerfed that as well!

The RNG is so bad in this game that I just flatly refuse to buy anything based on RNG. And refuse to use the Mystic Toilet. Other RNG things are out of my control, such as boss chests, but I can choose not to do those events…thus avoiding the disappointment. These days I participate in boss events very sparingly.

I am at a critical point in this game. In all the mmo’s I have played, I always farmed and crafted, I was able to sell the items and make gold. I can not in this game, many of the items that sell relies on random drops, if I do not get the drops, I can not craft the item. Now that the drop rate on the mobs have drop that reward is gone too. My guild has gone from having people waiting for turns to run dungeons, to god i hope enough sign in for a guild run. Many in my guild have been together since the start of Age of Conan, now its just biding time until elder scrolls comes out because this has just become a disappointment for many of us. I am a pver, so don’t say pvp if I am bored. It’s not just bored, I don’t feel I am accomplishing anything at all really . None of the thing I like to do are truly viable.
People take Guild Wars 2 very seriously. I’ve seen commanders in Iraq talk about war more casually than the players on these forums. Interesting stuff.
I will be enjoying FFXIV and TESO when I’m not playing Guild Wars 2. I’m looking forward to experiencing the fun of the new games including GW2, not so much the seriousness of the forums. Hopefully my previous posts have helped with the drop rate info videos and pics. In the meantime I really need to get my programming done :P
See you all in whatever game/games you choose.

Worrying first sentence there – Says more about the act of War itself than the passion of players in this forum.
So, about rewards. People over at mmorpg have repeated more then any meme you’ll find anywhere, that the loot and rewards for pve are perfectly fine. That somehow this RNG loot system isn’t slanting towards something negative like it has been for months for so many of us and that everything is unicorns and rainbows. Are people really so selfish that they can’t help the players that don’t get a single thing from drops by demanding they do something more constructive then just endlessly “gathering data” say like removing DR entirely from the open world?
What do you all think? Because there are those who believe this isn’t happening to those of us with the permaDR at all.

Intelligent people are more level headed about even the most serious of things. An open and clear mind allows for clear and precise thought. Anger, hate, aggression lead to mistakes and misjudgment. The players in the forums start off with anger, lead into rants, and degrade others. None of which is intelligent or constructive. Not all players, but a pretty noticeable size. I enjoy reading the well thought out and developed ideas and concerns of people who back their information with facts, or admit they have little facts and ask for information while being tactful.

I’ve offered every player the opportunity to group with me on my hours of grinding in Orr. I have no problem helping tag many mobs and have only had many thanks from the people who I group with. For the most part I’m always solo. Most of this thread is just he said/she said. There’s only about 1 page of actual evidence from people who farm regularly. Not to say anyone’s input is invalid, but its hard to go off evidence someone collected on 1 run, or 20 minutes of grinding. I use my personal guild influence to drop banners for people as well, whether or not people believe they work or not is their own opinion. If players added less “I hate arenanet namecall namecall namecall” and more visual evidence this thread would be far more constructive.

Well, the only response I get from people is that since I can only prove it by my own drops and the fact that I have not made any more that 39 gold and I have played since launch is that I apparently “Play the game wrong.”
Ok, so I play the game wrong. I have to grind like you, (which is kind of silly since I don’t get drops….grind for…what exactly? Pixelated blood splatter and the joy of your company?) Farm —-Oh wait I can’t do that either…no drops, you can’t farm. Do Dungeons? For what? The big payment in the end? Hah.
So, I play wrong. Yea, that is the answer.
I cannot point out it enough:
Right now I did penitent and in the beginning (for about 20 seconds), there were <10 players and I got some whites and blues.
Suddenly the amount of people increased to 18 (I tried to count it afterwards) and I did not receive one loot (except one “dark stained claw”) after that.
No, I didn’t change how I played, but..
1) the foes are invisible for me, but others seem to see them before I can (and I can definitely see them before my bf can) -.-
2) the foes are invulnerable, but as soon as they are visible and you can do damage, they are already dead (other people have higher dps or kill them faster or whatever they do, the foes are dead before I can do enough damage to get “kill credit” -> loot???)
The best amount of people is around 5. That way you receive some loot (not the best, but you get some!!), because there is less problem with invisibility of enemies and you can contribute damage to the foes before they are dead. ^^
If in any case there is an fire elementalist on board, you are screwed. :p

There goes my thoughts that you were level-headed too.
There is tons of information spanning more than “about 1 page” – including ones with info on what gear they have on (MF on or off), some with dates of farming, some with screenshots to reinforces legitimacy of the data they give.
Intelligent people are more level headed about even the most serious of things. An open and clear mind allows for clear and precise thought. The players in the forums start off with anger, lead into rants, and degrade others.
Lets say you’re asked to relay information on the quality of weapons being issued to troops. When you bring that information back to your commander…would you expect him/her to tell you you’re delusional and that you’re trying to fabricate some conspiracy?
It’s not a level-headed way of responding after a request. So as much as you think the players that post in this forum aren’t thinking first, the devs seem to be in that same boat. Maybe not responding with anger and rants, but instead with ignorance while at the same time degrading people’s effort for collection of data.

I can’t say whether you play wrong or not, that’s not my place to say anyway. But in 6 minutes at Orr events I make around 1g in mats/drops. I can say its a lot about how well you can tag mobs, the less people the better. I don’t do dungeons, I’m just not that interested in them at this point in my gaming. Two Orr events would be 12 minutes of time, dragons are just something to do for a change-up. Maw is fun and easy, lots of xp and karma. And the chest at the end doesn’t hurt either. I’d never tell anyone how to play, all I can say is find all the things in the game you enjoy. Don’t focus on one aspect or it truly will annoy you. Not everyone enjoys farming for hours like me, and that’s okay. There’s plenty of fun things to do, and for those times when you can;t find those things, well that’s where a good guild comes in.

Make sure you know the point where they go from invuln. to attack-able, stand there despite everyone else running around. They come in waves that can usually be seen from some distance. Make sure that you have your distance all the way up in settings as well. Some of the problem is with the design of the game, which hampers some from seeing the mobs from long distances. Yes it is good to have just a few people, also you can zoom out on your radar map to view both WP’s. This way if the other pops at the same time and this side is crowded, head to the other. Make sure to have not just an AOE but a quick aoe. Stuff like warriors spinning axe skill is amazingly helpful so long as your DPS is decent. I can’t speak for the other classes as I have limited experience. But find a weapon type that fits you best in that scenario.

I like to go to various areas every day. (Not Orr. It is ugly, tedious and annoying.) = Not playing the game right.
I do not like dungeons. (People are rude, mean and you have a chance of being kicked for no reason just before completion, or yelled at for the smallest infraction of some ambiguous “rule” = Not fun.) = Not playing the game right.
I do not like to “farm an area or event over and over” This feels like cheating, whether it is or not, and my internal moral compass says do not do it. = Not playing the game right.
Keep in mind in Guild Wars 1, I was Legendary Cartographer, Legendary Elite Skill Hunter, and Legendary Vanquisher. This means I saw every bit of every map in the game several times, had every skill in the game that could be had, and killed every single mob in the game on Hard mode.
But Guild Wars 2? I don’t play right, because I do not farm, I do not grind, and I do not cheat or game the system.

There is no degradation of effort in the posts. I simply am stating that “I did X with X and got X” is not proof. If true, yes it can be helpful but how can that be proven? In my mind it is just as constructive as the posts with pics/videos, but in the end its about provable information. When Arenanet looks through these they will most likely compile data they can visually see, as the saying goes “seeing is believing”. That’s not to negate the information people post, but as I said as far as visual evidence, evidence that is unbiased and “in your face” type of evidence, this is most likely what they will focus on. I do not discourage people from posting, but truly if you delete the hate threads, the threads where a very small data collection was done, then truly there is very little they can use.
On a side note, when I traveled into Iraq I was wearing armor from Vietnam which cannot stop anything larger than a pistol. I mentioned that to my commanders and platoon leaders, they agreed it was unsatisfactory but said its what we have until we get better. Around 6 months later we did get the plate armor, and slowly things improved. The same can be said for the game. But simply complaining, and I’m not directing that toward anyone specific, is not constructive.

Orr has vastly improved from before with drops. I realize it can be a bit “dead”, but its only one thing you can do in GW2. You paid for the game I assume, and you should get your moneys worth from it. It isn’t cheating to do the same events over and over, its how you farm and grind. But this is just one aspect. You can try dungeons with guild members, this should be the fun part. If you have a good guild in any game, anything you dislike is put off by it. What I mean is, you need a good social aspect to make the not so fun things seem better. Regardless of whether or not it is tedious, any task is more fun with friends. Everyone enjoys playing different ways and that’s perfectly fine. If you no longer enjoy the game you can take a break and come back. That usually freshens it up. Or you can choose another game to play to replace, or add to your MMO time. In the end it isn’t GW2’s fault that someone doesn’t like it, its on the player/consumer. The world is all about freedom and doing different things to find happiness. If you cannot find happiness down one road, then there is a thousand more to travel. GW2 is still new in my opinion, and has much to offer over time. I give it the time it deserves before making any judgement on it. People said angry birds was a fad, was only fun for a short time. They have enough money to compete with Disney in the next 10-15 years. Just a thought.

I am levelling a character and in doing so solely upgrading their equipment from drops. I completely the last 15-25 area, got 1 item I could upgrade, got another item from map completion reward that I could also use. I am averaging 2 drops per map that I can upgrade to.
My character is level 42, her equipment is
Head: lvl 27
Shoulders: lvl 34
Chest: lvl 14
Gloves: lvl 38
Pants: lvl 32
Boots: lvl 26
Greatsword: lvl 33
Sword: lvl 27
Pistol: lvl 36
Spear: lvl 31
Trident: lvl 20
Yes, I am aware I can buy equipment and have done so with the previous 2 characters I have levelled. I am just showing how bad it is when you don’t buy equipment.
I have completed 5 × 1-15 zones, 4 × 15-25 zones, and am now doing a 25-35 zone which I had started previously but my gear was too low for at the time. Prior to Nov 15 I have levelled 2 characters without problems using only drops and was often in zones a couple of levels higher than the character. This time around I have to stick to zones lower than the character because her equipment is not sufficient enough to survive long enough to kill a foe equal to her level. I even struggle in some situations with foes much lower than her, especially when foes are in groups and agroing one agros them all, I am wondering if this is a down levelling issue when gear does not match your characters level.

So…errm, why are they asking us at all for any information at all if nothing can be proven and they have all the resources at their disposal to debunk our posts? (not checking every account, but lets say a sample of 100 accounts – filter last vet/champ kills – filter the loot obtained from them. I assume they’d have this amount of data since they run so many decisions and tweaking choices off “metrics”. And I guess if you have limited metrics/data, you’re more likely to make unreliable choices)
While it’s true image, pictures, video is a loose representation of proof, what else do we as players have?
While we can comment on our own perceived drops we can’t say what Anets backend system is doing.
I wish we could have log files to send them, this feature is no longer available. That system would greatly improve information players were able to provide. Aside form that i know most games give GM’s the power to spawn any item in game or mob. Knowing this I would think that they could simply spawn tons of mobs and become invincible, and see the drop loot tables effect. The problem however i might see with this is:
a. It would be server/time/area/mob specific.
b. It would be a very long project as you would have to have them use various amounts of MF. This includes MF gear, food, etc.
I’m only slightly familiar with programming but I would guess that they could also check the programming itself. But this can be very tedious and any changes can have a chain reaction. In short I don’t have a perfect answer, as I’m sure neither do they. All we can do is provide the best “player based” info we can and hope for the best. There are so many variables to check in this game, it could take some time. Something many people do not wish to wait for. As for me, I’m still here in Orr doing the “Death…Goood!:” part of my day ^^ I know RNG is never an easy thing to make in a game, I have a good guild to keep me entertained while I wait for whats to come in this pretty amazing game.

Yeah it sounds like a monumental task and I’d love if Anet thought of some outside-of-the-box methods of trying to gather more data, like your aforementioned spawning of mobs in a select area to test. If it’s time/location based, it’s probably best for them to have 10-20 mins of scheduled downtime (servers will stay up, but login’s won’t be possible) and a handful of GM’s port to each stationary champion location and kill them to see what loot they get on average. Random idea. May not even work, but they’re not even sure what’s causing it so anything is better than nothing.
Just to focus on your last sentence there – the problem isn’t so much with RNG. People are just really, really peeved because of the DR. More importantly, DR infused with RNG which is making a lot of people get no gear/loot at all, and when they do get gear/loot, it’s very bad – referring to the chest drops from mobs they recently added, the Champion/vets not giving any loot or trash loot, and the chest from dragon events not spawning because of DR.
I’d be cool if they just came out and said, “hey we have a problem with loot. From patch notes you’ve probably seen we tweak loot from time to time, so we’re working on a fix. Until then loot will be pretty terrible, sorry, but rest assured this will get fixed asap”…So far its more like “you guys are crazy, there’s nothing wrong. We never changed loot before. You’re probably not getting kill credit”
I guess, all i’m asking is that they be realistic.
Yea, people tend not to want to admit when they are wrong unless forced to do so. Whether or not loot is/was/will be nerfed we may not ever know. But it definitely isn’t a common drop rate that people experience. Mine seems okay mostly, but I’ve seen so many posts I do wonder why its so different. I’m okay if they made a mistake. or even if they didn’t just to try and fix the problem people are experiencing, some more obvious than others. Just don’t go all Lance Armstrong on us for a year or two to do it :P

Agreed. In the end, the players will have the last laugh and ArenaNet will have their hand forced. I don’t know anyone who regularly gets decent drops from boss chests like in the pre-November days. The whole thing screams of a D3 type of situation, where Blizzard was faced with a massive exodus and had to increase drop rates to keep their players from leaving. Open world drops are more erratic and do not affect everyone uniformly, having some being lucky, while others seem perpetually cursed…it screams of an RNG bug whether it’s identified or not, whether they admit it or not.
What ArenaNet has yet to learn is that player perception IS the truth no matter what they think or how much they deny things and it really DOESN’T matter who’s right at this point. This this is not a small number of players we’re talking about. For every player who’s participated in these threads, there’s going to be at least 100, probably many more, who can’t be bothered to complain, or who simply left the game. They can call it “perceived”, they can call it a “conspiracy”, but if it’s what the players believe, then it doesn’t matter, ArenaNet is WRONG. The burden of proof, and ultimate resolution, lies with them NOT with the players!!
For myself, I’ve accepted that loot is a hopeless situation and now ONLY play for the social aspect, often finding myself just standing around Lion’s Arch talking in guild chat. I do dailies, sometimes, and have generally been hanging around low-level starting areas such as Metrica and Wayfarer Foothills when I do play. Having accepted that I’ll never get good drops again, I think I’m happier for it and have found myself actually enjoying the game again. However, if it was not for the fact that I carried over a lot of wealth from the pre-November days, this likely would not be the case. I did the maw in Wayfarer the other day 4 times and by far the best item I got was a ruby orb….YAY!!! LOL

I just perceived that my level 80 mesmer received two level 76 exotic items for completing a level 80 zone (Cursed Shore) and after sighing and shaking my head I clicked on the Black Lion TP thing to see what I might get for these items at which point I perceived that the sell your stuff part of the TP wasn’t going to open for me, and so I logged out and proceeded to write this post.
I don’t remember if my thief got level 80 exotics from completing this zone (Cursed Shore). Maybe not. Probably not. Loot or the lack thereof wasn’t such a sore point back then; the game was still relatively new, my expectations/anticipations had not been ground into porous bone dust by the most stingy and at times downright hateful drop behavior I’ve ever perceived. My thief does have several level 80 exotic items, but not yet a full set of exotic armor, and only one exotic weapon: a named short bow that came from the Lost Shores event email (if I recall correctly) – stats are all wrong for my thief’s build, but whatever. I kept the thing and continue to use it because it’s the only named item I’ve received on any of my characters. It’s like a kitten Family Heirloom. ‘Cept soulbound, so I can’t pass it down… ahem. Most of my thief’s level 80 exotic armor was either bought from the TP or crafted (using gossamer mostly bought from the TP as well).
At this point my overall perception of Guild Wars 2 is that I will never, ever, get anything fun or cool in this game unless I buy it on the TP or jump through 50 million burning hula hoops while reciting the Sumerian alphabet backwards in Irish Gaelic over 9000 times (that being my admittedly hyperbolic perception of dungeon runs).
Such is my perception. Sunday, February 17th, 2013.

That is an AWESOME statement as it sums up so eloquently how so many of us feel.
Southsun cove – full explorer gear – 6 superior pirate runes – full explorer jewelry omnom bar 30% bonus – 25stacks on sigil of luck – 542 karkas killed
drops = 4 shells & 6 potent blood not one other item except a few whites
common now that is just insane no one is that unlucky
I’d like to see someone from anet or any of their apologists justify that.
See, your DR problem really begins from your 20-30th karka kill. After that you are farming too much in the same area so, by ANets definition, they make you hold hands with a DR buddy whilst continuing to roam through karka-island.
IMHO, the number of complainers about DR is insignificant in ANets opinion. We are an outliner bound by RNG, therefore we are a minority that gets crap most of the time, while the rest gets decent loot because they don’t complain.
Pitty that we are the minority of the GW2 community – but hey, doesn’t any minority in real world also get shafted?

I don’t think we are, i think loads of people left already due to this ongoing problem and now they are stuck. either pony up and admit it was a mistake ensuring people are happier but new player profits drop, or continue on the same path that new players might not notice and continue playing anyway. It’s a gamble with the players as the losers either way honestly because if they did it once they’ll do it again at this point it’s obvious to me that it’s not only not a mistake but that it’s being kept this way to ensure profits and people these days will throw money at anything. The guy fighting the Karka with 540x kills sounds exactly like my experience everywhere in the game.

In all seriousness, lose the MF. It’s broken, most farmers already know this.
I farmed in that area a little while back with 2 other randoms in a party (no MF used) and pulled in no less than 30 shells and 9 powerful (T6) bloods inside of 90mins.
Even solo, I’ll farm that area for an hour or so and walk away with no less than 8-10 shells and maybe some T6 mats or a rare, if I’m really lucky.

The best amount of people is around 5. That way you receive some loot (not the best, but you get some!!), because there is less problem with invisibility of enemies and you can contribute damage to the foes before they are dead. ^^
If in any case there is an fire elementalist on board, you are screwed. :p
I’ll agree that farming in a party is best for good drops, but it’s not the fire ele’s you have to worry about. It’s the melee and the stealth backstab thieves which do the most damage and end up claiming the most loot because they’ll take the kill credit for being in the fight for longer and doing more damage. In any case, whatever the ratio is and how the drops are worked out for kill credits, it’s grossly unfair for the people who did at least tag (contribute, and I don’t mean just one hit) and helped bring down the enemy. It should be that everyone who gets xp from a kill should be offered loot as well.
Just by the by, my fire ele can hardly get a few shots in when there’s a zerg farming areas in orr (using staff), it’s the people that actually hit the enemy and keep hitting them I’ve found which stand the best chance for loot. Which is why most elementalists I’ve seen roll double daggers or scepter/dagger. For AoE it’s the staff which is useful, but conversely to a guardian, using a staff while farming can be just as detrimental to drops as anyone else who can’t get hits in in time.

Tonight I managed to get 2 yellows, both from corpses, I think I did get a chest once and got a white item from it. I say I think because I hit F near it before I realised it was there, and could not get anything from it when I did notice it. I also noticed some kills I did not get XP for, and only a couple of vets dropped anything.
Overall I didn’t do to well, it seemed like the lucky streak ended as quickly as it started.

I’ve done several Arah runs last week. Monsters and chests dropped either blue or white equipment with a few greens. The only rare was a pile of foul essence.
In my recent experience I seem to get better drops if I dont play the game for a few days to a week. Is this an actual mechanic to encourage me to play more and hook me back in? It really does seem that if i play hours all day every single day my drops r pretty naff. Yet, the day before yesterday for instance I was in fractals after a few days off and i got an ascended ring, 2 exotics (one was account bound), 2 cores and about 3 vile essences. Also some weapons rare and plenty greens.. This was pretty impressive imo but dident feel right. something is off...
Tis only what you can do for all
Anet is in a bind no matter what at this point. The economy has a huge influx of gold and not enough ‘viable’ or should I say ‘appealling’ gold sinks. In order to create PvE drops that were as good as or even close to pre November they have to have something for people to spend their gold on.
(More skins like cultural but region based or even event based: Ascalonian skin, branded skins, orrian zombie skin, etc. ) something players can dump 50-100gold on and want to.
I came to the game from a Korean MMO that I liked but simply couldn’t keep up with. This was supposed to be a casual friendly game. In many respects it is. Unfortunately, aside from dungeons and dragons the open world drops are a bit scarce. Even more so for some of us.
I believe there is something to this kill credit afflicting vets/champs and most likely all mobs. Aside from the luck of RNG there is no consistency in open world drops and therefore it is difficult to find a pattern without seeing a huge amount of data that we are no longer allowed to record.
I deleted a character and created a DPS warrior for testing. At lvl21 I can’t vouch for DPS doing anything for quality of loot but I can say that the little warrior fills her bags very quickly. The quantity of loot is much higher than the lvl80 Ranger or Guardian ever got at low level. Kills are so fast if other people are around I move away so that I don’t take away their chance of kill credit.
Maybe it’s coincidental but I’m not so sure. I even get a lot more low lvl mats and loot bags than I’m used to. Hitting DR, no problem I still get trash worth a good bit of copper. I’ll keep testing with that character until it’s lvl80 just to see if there really is a difference.
Devs: Trait Challenge Issued
I decided I can live with poor open world drops, salvaged ALL MF gear and noticed my drops didn’t change a bit. Still rare stuff every now and then (average 1/hour), some amount of greens and stuff to salvage.
What really pisses me off is the fact that almost every dungeon or DE with chest showers me with blue/worthless green stuff. I mean, I get 50x better loot after one Penni/Shelter round. Really! Not to mention I have a real chance of getting rare drop (even if it is just some Pile of Vile Essence).
Just c’mon. How unrewarding this game can become if you try your best and do things ANet wants you to do?
I just refuse to do the fractals only because I feel forced to do them. Noticed I play less and less, just do my daily/monthly and log off in disgust. Normally it would take like 2 years and a really bad Dev team to drive me away from the game I paid for. Sad.
Thief/Necro/Guardian/Mesmer/Elementalist of SFR EU
Class: Warrior; Level: 80; Gear: Exotics; MF: none; Primary Use: node farming runs through Orr.
Prior to November, a 2-3 hour run through Orr would net 3-4 MW greens, often 1-2 Rare drops. Since then, most runs netted blues and whites only. Since the reduction in Risen density, I am also killing less to get to nodes, so chances for drops are reduced. Recent runs have been about 1 hour. Killed between 35-50 mobs each run. 2 Heavy Bags was the best drop. Other drops have been a couple of blues, a few whites and not even that many P. Bones. More than half of the mobs killed in recent runs dropped nothing at all, to the point where getting any drop was a surprise.
Last week I took the character to Fireheart Rise and over the course of 3 hours or so did map completion. Drops were all blues, zone-level-appropriate bags, whites and of course 4-5 different types of vendor trash. More than half of the mobs dropped items of some sort. Net gain was 50-60 silver, half or more of which came from the zone completion reward.
After reading reports in this thread, we spent more time investigating our rewards system. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, we verified that all loot tables are indeed working correctly in the game. Since then, we continued receiving reports that there seemed to be an issue, so we extended our search to all systems that created opportunities for you to get items from loot tables. Here we found an issue that we were able to verify was consistent across everyone who reported problems:
The rules by which you qualify for credit for an event or for experience when killing a mob are different rules than those used to help determine if you qualify for loot. Some of these were set up to be unintentionally restrictive, and as such you could kill a creature with a lot of health (this was most noticeable on champions) and not qualify for loot, despite qualifying for all other credit.
For the February Flame & Frost: The Gathering Storm release we will be repairing this issue to ensure more players are capable of earning loot credit for kills. This should fix the issue such that you got credit for killing a champion, but received no loot from it. Once fixed, all champion mobs will correctly always drop 1 blue or better loot item, and all veterans will have a chance of dropping loot better than regular mobs as outlined in the November release. Please note, it is still possible to kill a creature and not do enough damage to qualify for loot (which is the only way you won’t get loot for a champion), it is also still possible for veterans to not drop loot at all, since they simply have better odds of dropping loot than normal creatures but no guaranteed drops.
On top of this, we’re also updating some of the loot in various areas of the game for the February release that should make specific areas more rewarding. We’ll cover this is in detail with the February release notes.
Thanks very much for all your feedback and reports, that information has proved incredibly useful!
