Greetings to the GW2 community.

Since the launch of the game, I have been creating and using my own builds for my characters in both PvE and PvP. However, with the imminent release of HoT and its “challenging group content”, I thought I might seek out and implement other people’s ideas to change or perfect my characters’ builds.

Therefore, I am looking for some sites where I can do exactly that. I ’d prefer sites with a variety of builds supported by an enthusiastic and imaginative group of people, who are not into braindead warzerking gameplay.

You’d be hard pressed to find a site that offered anything too varied from the ‘zerker meta’. This game does not have the robust skill system of GW1 that allowed for the massive variety of builds that GW1 offered.

Give us more GW 1 weapon and armor skins, please. COPY/PASTE ALREADY!!!!

A quick look through Metabattle and I ‘ve seen that most PvE builds use berserker’s gear. At least, trait builds and weapons vary.

Imo, the game gives a lot of tools to costumise your character to reflect your personal playstyle. As long as you take the time to think of course.

Zerker gear us merely The most Efficient.

All of those PvE builds work with Soldier gear, Knight Gear or even a Cleric/Magi/Nomad setup. They’d just be less effective than going Zerker.
Zerker, once you’ve reached the skill level for it, will do the same job faster is all. If you’d rather get a Soldier set or run around with Condis, that’s your call, while solo’ing it really doesn’t matter much.

Furthermore, you can complete just about any content using WvW zerg builds, and the Roamer/sPvP builds are generally great for solo’ing as well (Bar some exceptions, such as Bunker Guardian.) Zerker, in PvE, is only if you’re aiming to be as efficient as you can be.

Warrior – Wardancer | Guardian – Lorekeeper | Revenant – Vindicator |
Thief – Duelist | Ranger – Strider | Engineer – Technician |
Elementalist – Spellweaver | Necromancer – Warlock | Mesmer – Trickster |

Ahh good ol’ irrational zerk hate, never gets old.

OP I’d check out the profession forums, plenty of talk about variety of things. Your Metabattle will generally be more meta focused stuff, meaning zerk.

It’s not so much “zerk hate” as it is a healthy skepticism. I mean, why would Anet make all the others available if zerker is as good as people say it is? That and a lot of gamers seem to have a very strong herd mentality: “everyone in my guild runs build x, therefore I run build x, and if you don’t run build x you’re dumb and hate America”.

That said, zerker may very well be the best thing in PvE. I’m just not sure it’s for me; my reflexes are bad.

First of all, don’t put full trust in metabattle. What it ranks as a top build isn’t always a top build. It’s basically one guy with his own opinions, things such as beserker gear (while yes being statically the best choice) is often times swapped out for something with vitality or toughness on it as you’re squishy as a kitten with full zerker gear.

You’re best off going to these forums and asking around. You’ll get a much better idea.
