6th playable race, what's your top 3 pick?
1) Largos. I REALLY, really want to play as one of these. Anet, make it happen!
2) Tengu. Just seems obvious they will add them at some point. Maybe in a Cantha expansion? One can only hope.
3) ummmm, no clue. The other races don’t really fit to be honest.
Still waiting to give them a wad of cash for playable centuars.
Wads and wads of cash if need be.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”
- Jareth, King of Goblins.
Hold on, I want to change my choices.
1. Dwarves, every curse can be undone. The best depiction of the dwarves I have ever seen was in a film called “The Hobbit”, I was blown away on how well done they were, I certainly hope people take after that sort of detail.
2. Largos, you all already know why.
3. Tengu, I love variety!
I know this isn’t Middle Earth’s lore but it was inspired though, but how Jackson brought those characters to life was simply amazing! Those Dwarves were so badarse, I don’t even think elves can fight that well.

Oh, I hear you – I loved the Dwarves in the Hobbit film (less goofy than the ones in the book, thankfully) and I would love to play one.
But I also really like what ANet did with the Dwarves in EotN and now GW2, so I don’t think I’d want them to reverse the transformation to make them playable. And since ANet has been adamant about not caring for ‘typical’ fantasy races, I don’t think we’ll ever see them actually playable.
What I really hope is we see them featured prominently in an expansion that deals with Primordus.
Norns are like like giant dwarves. They totally act like that. I don’t think they will add dwarves to the playable ones.

I enjoy playing exotic races, so yes, I would. (One of my top picks for a playable race are the Krait, for example.) Then again, I know I’m in the minority here. Most people want nothing to do with insects or insectoids.
I know this isn’t Middle Earth’s lore but it was inspired though, but how Jackson brought those characters to life was simply amazing! Those Dwarves were so badarse, I don’t even think elves can fight that well.

Imagination, people. They don’t have to become flesh again. They can stay stone and be playable. Sylvari are made of plants, why can’t something be made out of rocks?
Stone dwarves would not be a typical fantasy race. ANet have the material to make dwarves different right THERE in GW1, they don’t even have to make it up. Turning to stone -changed- them. The exact quote is “Changed both in body and mind.”
Personality too similar to Norn? Change it then. After the transformation the dwarves having changed is hardly out of the blue. They’ve been fighting a constant war against the Destroyers below the surface for 200 years – That’s again reason enough for them to change personality wise. (And actually, the DIFFERENCES between Norn and Dwarves were explored in GW1, as well. They were never the same. Norn and Dwarves existed perfectly fine besides each other in GW1, why can’t they for GW2?)
As I have said again and again, ANet have been consistently backtracking on saying that the dwarves were extinct ever since GW2 started, with Ogden outright stating in Arah Explorable that the dwarves are -still fighting Primordus-.
Plus, we absolutely need a redux of this theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LzTwnfmI9w

Common things:
-inhabit the same land
-same tone of voice (the Vigil Warmaster, Forgal, was voiced by the same guy voicing Jalis Ironhammer, King of the Deldrimor Dwarves.)
-penchant for beer
Minor things, but these make up the roots of a race.
And if they would somehow return, wouldn’t they want to reclaim their lands? Like everyhing that belongs to the norn? They could allow them to stay, true.
Btw the Deldrimor front is a pretty huge land, I could imagine the addition of this race. I love dwarves. Maybe if Primordus would be killed..

1) Largos – their society is just very interesting to me, and we need a calm and collected race (humans are too fickle, sylvari are too curious, norn are drunk, asura are too egotestical and charr are too aggressive).
2) Largos – because also underwater bioluminescence is cool.
3) Largos – because honestly Largos, and I dislike Tengu so there.
@Odd, I like them either way, just as long as they’re done right.
1. Largos – their style is simply awesome.
2. Kodan – I love their philosophy.
3.Tengu – a curious race which I’d like to explore.
Djinn
Mursaat
Dinosaur
1) Rabbit
2) Champion Rabbit
3) Legendary White Bunny

^ Surprised you didn’t pick a Bun-nado for one of your options.
1) Tengu, since guild wars 1.
2) Kodan, armored polar bears guys, c’mon.
3) Largos, underwater race, and cause i REALLY don’t like the Krait.
(edited by Olaf.8241)
1) stone dwarves. It is possible when we go fight primodus cause thats what the dwarves are doing
2)Kodan- possible in Jormag Expansion
3) Tengu- Possible with Canthan expansion

Yep, my 3 picks exactly.
As a big fan of aquatic races and underwater combat (yes we exist) I cross my fingers for Krait. They are primarily evil right now but only because they were pushed out of their home by the underwater Elder Dragon.
We will one day meet this dragon in the un-ending ocean, I hope the Krait left will be friendly and desperate enough to accept help defending their home, thus they become playable.
… and on a side note: tame-able Karka

In GW1 there were no active dragons and the kraits were still as evil as now. Maybe in GW3, like what they did with the charrfor GW2.

This is true, but this time we have a common enemy with the Krait. Like you pointed out with the Charr, sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures.

If they would be so shocked after they had to move, they wouldn’t have killed every race they can find on the shores and making them slaves.

3) QuagganWho doesn’t want to be a quaggan mesmer, or even a quaggan with a greatsword. <3
This all the way
I’d like to see Dwarves. I’m new to Guild Wars. Just got it last night and Dwarves are my favorite race in fantasy games. I’m not sure what other races are in the lore though. I read a little bit and it seems like the Dwarves turned to stone to fight some guys in the earth. Possibly they could come back after they are done fighting.
i dont see any new races coming into the fold of the other races but i do see new professions happening.
They are fighting the Destroyers, the minions of Primordus (an elder dragon).
1) stone dwarves. It is possible when we go fight primodus cause thats what the dwarves are doing
2)Kodan- possible in Jormag Expansion
3) Tengu- Possible with Canthan expansion
If u read the lore u would know that the tengu is not even on cantha anymore cuz of what has happened in cantha.
o and cantha wont happen for gw2 unless ncsoft says its ok to do it.
Is it just me or would other people love to be able to side with the opposition as opposed to the straight and narrow? ie choosing the Nightmare Court or Inquest or the Flame Legion? I know that will likely never happen because the game has made it a point to be like: “NO THEY’RE EVIL. NOPE. CANNOT REHABILITATE.” To be honest, it would probably be too hard to program and whatnot. But that would still be amazing.
Personally, I love the tengu and want them right now. Having a peakitten person that swings a sword like no one’s business and then makes sure his feathers are in order? HELLO. Tre awesomeness.
Norns are like like giant dwarves. They totally act like that. I don’t think they will add dwarves to the playable ones.

I thought they were Australians.

The only one I can see working would be Inquest and they’re…
They’re, um…
Special… Yes, that’s the word. If you joined you’d end up leading them, because nobody else is remotely smart in comparison to you in that metakrewe.

BLAH. peakitten. PEAkitten. Flipping hate not having spell check!
Myiege, it’s not spell check, it’s the censor taking out the last part of that word. The one that could be considered profane… :P
Completely ignoring what would be realistic or feasible:
1. Mursaat. ^^ They were such a pain in the rear back in Prophecies. Even with infused armor I got stomped by their spectral agony so many times that whenever I saw then, I did a U-turn on spot, and returned the way I was coming, if at all possible. I hated those floating nasty things. BUT I would totally give them a chance to shine if they ever resurfaced anywhere. Likely I will only get the chance to try to beat the living daylight out of them and running away screaming (and dying a lot), if Arenanet ever decides to do anything with them.
2. I’d love to play a skritt. <3 I know the racial sympathy thing pretty much makes it impossible, but aaah I do love the skritt. I could just imagine them demanding shinies from people they’ve helped. The hive mind also is problematic.
3. ??? I have not met the largo or the kodan yet, and none of the others really speak to me. Cantha would have the wardens. Margonites from Elona could be cool, or the forgotten… Actually, my favorite choices would be either margonites or wardens for my no. 3, but idk really.
As stated multiple times, though, tengu, kodan, and largos would be most likely. shrug Not really interested in any of them. :p
1. Forgotten
2. Forgotten
3. Forgotten
Who wouldn’t want to play as four-armed snakes?
1. Skritt. The awesomeness is beyond words.
2. Dredge. Already have good rebels. A lot of lore behind them. Good industry. Different tech from charr. They seem ready to be shipped.
3. Tengu. Eh, why not?

While I’d love for Krait to be a playable race too, I think it’d be more likely that we’d see the Tengu and the Naga as playable races with a Canthan expansion. The Krait were always vicious predators even back in GW1 (although they’ve undergone a major redesign since then), but the Naga have a history of living in relative peace with the Canthan humans. It was only after the Jade Wind destroyed much of their traditional lands and hunting grounds that the Naga turned to aggressive raiding to survive.
With Emperor Usoku’s ethnic cleansing policies in place, the Naga likely had to flee somewhere just like the Tengu did, and may have adopted a nomadic culture similar to the Luxons, enabling their “capital city” to be anywhere isolated enough.
I doubt that any new playable race will be add in the next years, maybe I’m wrong.
Anyway, the Tengu are the only ones I can bet. You could think of Kodan or Skrit, but they lack individual personality.
1. Tengus
2. Murzaats
3. Largos
1. Kodan
2. Ogre
3. Tengu
Aspiring Brotherhood [PACT]
Fort Aspenwood
My honest predictions as well as my preference:
1. Tengu
2. Kodan
3. Dwarves
1 TENGU
2 Kodan
3 Giant Chicken-man (don’t judge me)

Thing is that the krait are basically a brainwashed society, so any allied krait will be few and rare, thus keeping them from being a playable race. Their overall physical appearance hampers the possibility due to lacking legs, but not as much. If we’ll be getting a snake-like race as playable, it’ll be Naga. Also keep in mind that it may turn out to be that the krait’s prophets are related to the Deep Sea Dragon – a lot of the lore surrounding them and their priesthood screams like what the Flame Legion were doing with destroyers: taking something, anything, that was powerful even if it was trying to kill them, and turn them into gods to subjugate their people. In the charr’s case it was destroyers, in the krait’s case it may be the DSD’s minions. Heck, if this is so, the krait may not even realize that their prophets aren’t what they think them to be.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
In other words, give us some time to destroy the krait’s religious structure and their prophets and then skip ahead another 250 years. Then they will be ready to be a playable race for the next great threat. (All joking made at the expense of the charr.)
My top 3 picks:
1. Tengu 110%!!!!!!!
2. Kodan
3. Quaggan

Skritt.
Racial mechanic – Skritt health pool and attributes scale depending on the number of Skritt companions you have summoned.
All Skritt abilities summon 1-3 Skritt that have a specific function (ie. spawning turrets, dropping bombs) . So you would use skills 1-5 to attack, and 6-0 to summon Skritt to do certain things.
