6th playable race, what's your top 3 pick?
1. Tengu
2. Kodan, i just wana run around screaming “what would you do for a klondike bar?”
3. Skriit
2015-2016
Fort Aspenwood
Tengu & Kodan should be the next playable races (for me), As for the Skritt I’ll rather have one as a pet haha.
All about Largos..(most of it)
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Largos-MUST-be-a-new-race/page/5#post2004118
I know skritt won’t happen, but would love to play a skritt mesmer with racial utilities that summon more skritt – do they get smarter with more illusions out? :p
On a serious note, Tengu 100%. If they are not the first new race, I’ll… I’ll eat a piece of clothing!
1. Tengu
2. Dredge
3. Largos.
There, air, earth, and water!
1 – Tengu
2 – Kodan
3 – The Reptilian looking race in this concept art, and no it isn’t a branded charr… (See image)
1. Largos (They look amazing and their culture/lore could be very, very interesting and refreshing! Plus, underwater city, the secrets which we could finally see in the Sea of Sorrows! - I hope they will be the new playable race as we get to fight against the Deep Sea Dragon…plus the character creation for them could be amazing! Customizable wings, skin (scaly or with different patterns etc.))
2. Tengu (Love the birds and anything related to them…just imagine the customization for them! Plumage, crests, tails, bird heads…falcons, eagles, parrots, owls…)
3. Centaurs would be a very, very unique and interesting add which would break the MMO standards for sure.
Wow so many replies haha.
Well for me it all depends on where we are headed. IF we are going back to Elona, which is my fondest wish Nightfall was my favorite campaign. I’d love to see either Djinn or Centaurs. I’d love to have the forgotten back for Elona as well, but I fear that will just never happen.
For Cantha, if we do go back. And from what I hear that is a very iffy subject, it will be a lot harder to get new races. As we saw in the winds of change, sentient races were beginning to be pushed out of cantha. So there is a possibility of perhaps wardens, but I’d guess they had also been killed especially since their leader was killed.
Most likely I think we will be first seeing a new area. In that case, I want a brand new race, I want something that will catch me completely off guard. Something with no lore, or with only the vaguest hints of. I kind of suspect that we will be going off towards the wastes, I mean there is an early Sylvari PS story line where there is mention that another pale tree is up river. So it is very possible we will also be playing a different type of rabbit food.
1) Tengu
2)Tengu
3)Tengu
1. Kodan. They are so dignified in their fatalism. I love their names, I love hearing them talk, especially the males; both for their voice and for the things they say (“I greet you as the sun greets the morning”). True, lack of customization, but their spiritual background should offer up some interesting roleplaying possibilities.
2. Tengu. I will be very surprised if they are not the sixth race. They already have a spot on the map. Japanese flavor is always good if done well.
3. Largos, although I very much doubt that will happen. Part of the allure is their mystique; if everyone is running around as one, kinda loses the punch.
Not a choice for a playable race, but I would like to see a few more good (or neutral) centaur NPCs.
You know, I don’t know if I have heard this idea before… But I remember hearing that the Tengu were a planned race, but were put on the back-burner. I can’t help but wonder if this has anything to do with the removal of the Canthan district…
1. Tengu
2. Largos
3. Dunno
Tengu because they were once going to be a playable race (and we still have the Dominion of Winds to unlock and play which could be a possible expansion)
Largos because they are new to GW2, are humanoid and we just generally don’t know about them
The reason why Quaggan/Skritt/Ogres/Hylek/Grawl will not be playable races is because they are directly involved with the personal story. This would mean Anet would have to rethink that entire chapter of the personal story to accommodate what were once “lesser races” that you were supposed to study more on with your mentor.
Also Kodan are far too similar to Norn (also all of these don’t have their own city/capital. Humans have Divinity’s Reach, Charr have Black Citadel, Norn have Hoelbrak, Sylvari have the Grove, Asura have Rata Sum, Largos we really don’t know, and Tengu have Dominion of Winds and whatever city lies in there. All of the other lesser races do not have a major city that belongs to them.
1 – Tengu
2 – Kodan
3 – The Reptilian looking race in this concept art, and no it isn’t a branded charr… (See image)
That’s more than likely concept art for Krait.
(edited by VitalSuit.1980)
The krait showed up in EotN, and I think that concept art was from after. They may have changed the designs from GW1 to 2, but not quite that much…
From what I recall, the best guess was that it was art that never got used.
Stormbluff Isle ( http://www.stormbluffisle.com )
It very well could have been Krait. They spent much of their time re-imagining the races and how they appeared in game.
While this is an extremely unpopular opinion, I hope they don’t make any other races, because then I’d have to trash one of my characters to make the new race, and it doesn’t make any sense to double up on classes.

When Factions and Nightfall were released, and new professions introduced with them, players were given new character slots.
I see no reason to assume they wouldn’t do the same thing if new playable races were introduced.
- Largos
- Kodan
- Skritt
We know pretty much nothing about the Largos, they’re rarely ever seen, and I think it’d be cool to have entire zones underwater. The Kodan are giant bear men that are not really used enough in the game with how great the idea is. The Skritt are cute and cuddly and funny. How can you not love these guys?
well people that claim kodan doesnt have customiztion. the reason polarbear are white is cause the hair is clear and reflect light they are actualy grey i think. but you can have tribal dyed hair tribal tattoos hair styles ear rings so on. and designing the armor be like norn armor.
Nightmares!! If it’s possible to fit in the lore, it would be the greatest thing ever. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Nightmare
Or Margonites? Love the effects on these creatures on the concept art!
Djinn? Or any Elemental for that matter… http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Djinn
Would definitely prefer Hylek before Quaggans. Even Skelks.
Seers? http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Seer (I’m very ignorant about GW1)
Anything affected by Dragon Corruption… I like anything with a cool effect on it, really.
If there’s a chance that the Tengu would be a future race, give them their own animations instead of keeping the copy-paste from the Charr animations…
Cred to Latinkuro
Gw2 is a masterpiece at it’s foundation. Content-wise however…
(edited by Phadde.7362)
Hopefully, they release a class with an ED. In which case I could see this happening:
1) Primordus and the dwarves
2) Kralkatoric and the Forgotten (the reptilian race that were helper to the gods and inhabited the Deserts of Elona
3) Jormag and the Kodan

1) Largos
2) Largos
3) Largos
~Sincerely, Scissors
Hylek…they are amphibious, so good on land and water for an aquatic race, plus you can make different colors/patterns. I would honestly rather opt for Hylek than Largos, as I find the choice more distinctive for an aquatic race than simply a strange humanoid with wing fins. Their animations are awesome. Plus,it’s an animal race in accordance with the charr, and who doesn’t want a frog elementalist?
Tengu…of course the most viable at this point. I want a skeksi necromancer!
I think playable races should come as part of a expansion package and thus be attached to the lore extension allowed by that release. As I wish the next expansion to be in the Far Shiverpeaks that includes the Ruins of Gunnar’s Hold, Olafstead and the Eye of the North (be open to all).
Since this will be a full expansion its only right that we get the next Elder Dragon in line: Jormag…..! (awesome).
The lore would involve the Norn and the Kodans in alliance fighting to re-take the Homelands from the servants of Jormag – the true master of the Molten Alliance….
And so I suggest that(in no particular order):
Kodan
Dredge
Note: This update I would like a major upgrade to the Norn shape-shifting mechanic and the Lore attached to their chosen animal-form. Depending on the animal form chosen the Norn would get certain bonus attached to that form even when not in that form – like elemental attunements for Elementalist:
Bear: Toughness+Conditions Expire faster passive bonus
Wolf: Precision+Condition Damage passive bonus
Snow Leopard: Swiftness+ Damage passive bonus
Raven: Critical Damage+Poison Damage passive bonus

1)Tengu
2)Kodan
3)Largos
Tengu – top of my list simply because I love their design, and just all the lore surrounding them. They also seem somewhat likely a candidate – their city has space on the map, they were originally a strong candidate for being one of the original playable races etc.
Largos – I can only imagine some of the customisation available (those gorgeous fin-like wings) and they would fit well into an expansion concerning the deep-sea dragon. However, I can’t see them as being very likely simply because of them potentially being underwater-based, and underwater combat seems to be somewhat unpopular (and I just can’t imagine an entire map underwater) I would lvoe to be proved wrong
Margonites – I’ve only stumbled across this race recently… but think they’d fit in well with a crytal desert expansion. They could also have, again, brillaitn customisation options. And potentially a lot of lore surrounding them (especially conerning Abaddon, and Kormir now residing in the Realm of Torment)
those are the races I would love to see
if honest- the Kodan would disappoint me a little. Whislt they would fit perfectly into a northern expansion – they don’t appear to have much in the way of customisation, and even more, their faces are incredibly low detail in game currently (easily changed, but to me just implies a lack of interest in them currently)
Tengu. (Why? they should have been playable from the start)
Also Destroyers are Appearing In their area’s (next to lions arch behind the wall)
Kodan.
Driven out by jormag , need asisstance
Largos.
Dont know why, look cool though
No Idiotic skritts (yes i Hate these)
No Quaggans. They should stay NPC’s.
Personal Story, WvsW , Guild Missions, Living Story and so much more.
(We have Teamspeak and a forum ) join us!
1. Tengu
2. Largos
3. Anything but pand- I mean Kodan.

wow, this is still ongoing? well then i’ll say it again:
1.Tengu
2. Kodan
3. Largos
“ALL IS VAIN”
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/gf-left-me-coz-of-ladderboar/page/6#post3486969
1. Tengu
2. Hylek, could be from Elona to avoid the Racial Sympathy pitfall.
3. Centaur, again could be from Elona to avoid the ‘black race’, albeit with redeeming qualities, they have in Tyria.
Secretly wants a Tengu Thief, Hylek Necromancer and Centaur Elementalist
1. Largo (as long as they sound like the Quarians from Mass Effect. I can’t be the only person who thought Sayeh reminded them of Tali)
2. Tengu (because bird people)
3. Quaggan (I would take them more seriously than I take the Asura)
To be more specific about the Largo, they could have an underwater starting area. That would be insanely awesome and remove the need to modify the existing map.
KRAIT!!!!! I would so want to make a slithering warrior beast RAWR!
1) Kodan
2) Krait
3) Minotaurs
I would love either one of these. Perhaps i’d love the Krait the most, as it has the potential to produce the most intricate and interesting story arc of the three.
Currently @ some T1 server in EU
1. Stone Dwarves – I love playing as a dwarf and they might be reintroduced together with Primordus and the underground of Tyria
2. Largos – the game lacks in underwater content and the eventual introduction of the deep sea dragon and largos will fix that
3. Tengu – I really don’t like them aesthetically
1) Tengu- most likely, seeing as they were planned as a playable race from the beginning
2) Largos- they seem like they’d be pretty customizable, and it would be a perfect excuse to do something about underwater combat
3) … I can’t think of a third
1. Largo (as long as they sound like the Quarians from Mass Effect. I can’t be the only person who thought Sayeh reminded them of Tali)
<snip>
Renegade Tali with a very big shotgun. :p
I don’t have 3 choices, but I would love to be able to be a tengu. I really like their style, and I would be awesome to be a Boardman. Please anet, give us tengus
I hate to be a downer of sorts, but some of these have absolutely no chance of being a playable race.
1) Centaur: They can’t swim. Nothing more that needs to be said.
2) Hylek, Skritt: I group these together because they’re both very primitive races. Sure, you have little pockets of them here and there, but nothing on the level of what would be required of a playable race, in my opinion.
3) Krait: Their model doesn’t fit (they would have no use for boots/leggings) and they’re an enemy race. No matter where you go, Krait will attack you. People may try to reason and say that there could be some form of “peace treaty” between them and the other races, but let’s be honest, the chances of that happening are EXTREMELY unlikely. This saddens me, however, because the Krait are pretty interesting when it comes to their lore.
4) Quaggan: I wish oh so dearly that it was possible, because I think it would be absolutely hilarious to run around with a Quaggan thief heartseeking everything in sight. However, they’ve very much so been established as an NPC race and it looks set to stay that way.
5) Margonite: Again, something that I wish was possible but according to lore isn’t. Margonites are nothing more than humans that have been transformed into some sort of demon, and the only way to create more Margonites is to transform more humans. Perhaps Arenanet could do something cool to make this possible, but sadly I can’t see it happening.
6) Dwarves: While they may still be around within the depths of Tyria, fending off the Destroyers, Arenanet have come out and said that they’re steering away from the cliche MMO races. Yet another thing that could in theory be possible, but unlikely based on things that have been said by Arenanet.
That was a mouthful. Or fingerful, I’m not sure. However, as much as I think it’d be cool to mess around with some of these races in character creation and in-game, I can’t see it being done. The three races in my opinion that have the biggest chance of becoming playable are the Tengu, Largos, and Kodan. More so the first two, but I think Kodan is also a possibility. Plus, I think it’d be pretty cool to run around smashing things as a Coca-Cola bear.
1. Centuars
2. largos
3. Kodan
1. Tengu
2. Largos
3. Elemental/Djinn
(edited by Duke Blackrose.4981)
About a year since I first posted in this thread and my answer is still the same:
1. Tengu
2. Krait/Naga
3. Skritt
- Tengu
- Maybe kodan
- That’s pretty much it
Heh.
1. Kodan
2. Krait
3. Tengu
I know Largos are more likely than Kodan and and even more so than Krait, but this is about favorites yeah? :P
Yeah, Krait is pretty much out of the question, but I think the Naga (or possibly the Forgotten) may be possible alternatives as a serpentoid race. If the Tengu make their appearance as part of a Canthan expansion, the Naga may also be a possible new race. They were not always hostile to humanity, after all; they only turned to raiding to survive after their traditional homes and hunting grounds were destroyed by the Jade Wind. If the Naga fled from Cantha (just as the Tengu did) during Emperor Usoku’s purges, they probably would not need to retain their raider lifestyle if they managed to settle in rich areas.
I wouldn’t mind playable Kodan (making a Kodan Guardian if they become playable!), although I think they are unlikely due to the fact that Kodan are very similar to Norn in terms of gaming clichés (they are both big, physically powerful arctic-dwelling races), which means they’d have trouble standing out on their own.
Tengu
Skritt. Technology in tyria would appear advanced enough to allow skritt to remain in contact through wireless means, thus alleviating the intelligence problem
A unique reptilian or insectoid race linked with the crystal desert
Largos, largos and largos.
A unique reptilian or insectoid race linked with the crystal desert
Look up the Forgotten.
I’d have to say firstly Tengu, if only because it’s the only one I couldn’t see a problem trying to adapt.
Second, Largos are interesting enough to warrant a look at, though them being primarily aquatic makes me nervous.
Thirdly . . . the Forgotten.
Largos are my number one choice, but I hope none are released unless they choose to also release permanently to the BLTC a race change token.

QUAGGANS! They have to be the 6th playable race. They’re cute, cuddly, and have lots of lore behind them.
slithering warrior beast
RAWR!
Your punishment will be singing Old Mac Donald Had a Farm 6000 times.
