So Personal Story is done & explored the world 100%.
I am a Norn Ranger of the Raven Totem. Here are my thoughts.

1) The Kodan saved the world.
If they hadnt gone south, we would never know about Jormag & the elder dragons.
Special dialogue in their iceberg ships confirms that. In a sense they formed the Pact

2) The Vizier of Orr saved the world.
If he didnt cast the epic spell, Orr would be ruled by the Charr.
And now Zhaitan would have The Undead Charr Nation of Orr.

imagine the forces of Orr with charr helicopters or charr tanks
No more undead peasants & undead chickens etc.
But undead charr phalanxes & hordes. Shudder.

State of the World
3) Asura
Pros
They have economic dominance on Tyria
They charge people when they use the asura gates and their waypoints
The Krewes are responsible for many technological breakthroughs.
Cons
Krewe council is fragmented. The leadership nature of the krewes is their downfall.
They have allowed the Inquest (another krewe) to become a real nation.

4) Humans
Pros
They have the numbers. Humans are also resourceful dogfighters.
The human resilience has made them thrive on many parts of the world.
Cons
Queen Jenna must be doing real propaganda
Divinity Reach morale is in a perpetual state of happiness (feasts, confetti everywhere)
The Centaurs have all but captured the Human lands and its looking bad.

5) Sylvari
Pros
They have a God of nature (Pale Tree) to guide them.
The Dream is a source of knowledge (they become emerged fully self aware)
Cons
The Dream has also negative aspects. It has formed the Nightmare Court.
Not possible to work their problems. The Sylvari are kind, and the Court has taken advantage of that.

6) Norn
Pros
We are giant-men with great strength and knowledge of the spirit world.
Our worship of Animal Totems gives us clarity and vision.
Cons
We are generally free spirits. Only the existence of the Wolf Totem has kept us from dsibanding. We have become weak and trusting living so close to the other races.
Our neighboring lands have become filled with enemies (dredge, svanir)
The Dragon Totem (Sons of Svanir) has many norn in their banner.

7) Charr
Pros
They are by far the best warriors. I am ashamed to say this as a Norn.
While Indvidually Norn are stronger, the charr have the technology & the numbers.
Their “always warriors” mentality will help Tyria.
(Sidenote: How can a race with Spartan, Roman, and Mongol traits not be the best warriors?)
Smoldur the Unflinching is very wise, we need a unified Tyria vs the dagons.
Cons
Not many weaknesses because of their political system.
Legion Leadership is shaky (but still stable). They will an Ur-Khan soon. Who will lead?
Flame Legion is a real thorn. Otherwise, the Charr lands seem safer.
Human Separatists & Charr Renegades only do guerilla tactics.

8) Lion’s Arch/Ebonhawke
Lion’s Arch was devastated by Scarlet Briar.
Ebonhawke was greatly weakened by the Charr wars.

They seem to be financially dependant on other nations to survive.

Feel free to dicuss more.

That’s cool. Have you seen all living story? What do you think of Orr after Zaithans demise? Southsun Cove and Consortium?

Forgive me for disputing, but I feel there are a few points I’d like to add to this convo.

1) The Kodan Saved the World, without them we wouldn’t have known of the Dragons

Going to argue this, including the sub-point of them indirectly forming the pact. Knowledge of Jormag did nothing to help against Kralkatorik or Zhaitan, but even if they had we may never have seen The Vigil as an order, simply because General Soulkeeper formed said order only after the Brand claimed her warband.

Furthermore, I’d say that The Asura being driven from their subterranean city by Primordius has had a bigger impact on the world than the Kodan’s migration. The Asura might’ve never felt the need for the extensive communications and trade program that is the Waypoints and the Asura gates if they hadn’t been driven from their home, which would’ve severely crippled the world’s defenses against the dragons.

2) Vizier Khilbron saved the world

While an interesting point, and not one I disagree with, I’d like to remind you that if the Charr had taken Orr, it would never have sunk, so when Zhaitan had awakened there’s no guarantee that all the Charr on Orr would’ve perished (Certainly most would’ve, but not necesserily all). The Charr are not the kind of species to just bow down and die that easily.

3-7) The Races of Tyria

The Inquest isn’t a nation, but a Metakrewe. They’re similar to the ruthless and amoral corporations you find in every Dystopian novel.

Humans are not numerous, they’re actually in a steady decline until recent events. Furthermore, the whole watchknight spectacle must’ve bankrupted the crown, makes you wonder what the heck went through Queen Jennah’s head then and there.
All things considered, humans are by far the weakest of the 5 prominent races on Tyria, if we consider technological advancement, political structure, sociological position, economical position, military might and physical ability. They’re not the worst off in all those points, but they’re not the best off in either.

What the humans -do- have going for them is Landmass and Natural resources. Kryta is bountiful with wood and minerals for trade, fish and game for food and plenty of soil for expansion of farmlands and mills. (Provided, of course, that the Seraph could drive the bandits out of Northern Brisban already.)

The Asura, or rather Rata Sum, doesn’t seem to possess any mills, mines or farmlands. Most likely they trade for such needs on demand rather than produce it themselves. Sylvari to this point doesn’t seem to have any need for such operations either, as everything they build or eat is homegrown. Norn aren’t interested in claiming landmass. This leaves a lot of resources open for humans.

Charr lands are -not- safer in any shape, way or form to human or norn lands. Besides the Flame legion, it’s infested with undying spirits, ogres, all manners of aggressive beasts and the freaking brand. No wonder Charr take their military training so seriously, basically everything in Ascalon is out to gut you.

The biggest issue with the Charr is their distrust for magic, which leaves the Flame legion with a huge advantage over the other legions, how else would 1 legion be able to stand against 3?

8) LA and Ebonhawke

I agree on Ebonhawke, however LA will most likely rise up and rebuild itself. It’s a free city state, and because of that it can’t count on any other nation to support it more so than out of charity. But as the hub for trade and commence, it’ll probably get back on its feet. Eventually. It was created by pirates, after all, so it’ll take more than one measly invasion to take that down, I believe.

Warrior – Wardancer | Guardian – Lorekeeper | Revenant – Vindicator |
Thief – Duelist | Ranger – Strider | Engineer – Technician |
Elementalist – Spellweaver | Necromancer – Warlock | Mesmer – Trickster |

1) The Kodan saved the world.
If they hadnt gone south, we would never know about Jormag & the elder dragons.
Special dialogue in their iceberg ships confirms that. In a sense they formed the Pact

I don’t get how you get this. Firstly, Primordus woke before Jormag by 50-ish years. Secondly, the norn knew of Jormag before they knew the kodan and furthermore, they interacted with Jormag directly. Thirdly, the world would know of Zhaitan and Kralkatorrik regardless of the knowledge of Jormag – they’d know less of the Elder Dragons, but it’s still…

2) The Vizier of Orr saved the world.
If he didnt cast the epic spell, Orr would be ruled by the Charr.
And now Zhaitan would have The Undead Charr Nation of Orr.

So those countless charr risen that already exist count for nothing? :P

And honestly, I think magical-everything is scarier than risen driving tanks…

4) Humans
[…]
Cons
Queen Jenna must be doing real propaganda
Divinity Reach morale is in a perpetual state of happiness (feasts, confetti everywhere)

Kinda confused on this. The constant carnival is Caudecus’ doing – not Jennah’s. So what is the propaganda by Jennah? She’s not hiding the facts, Caudecus is. He’s the one keeping humanity from going full out on the dragons, centaurs, and keeping the civilians in a constant state of ignorance-through-happiness.

5) Sylvari

The Pale Tree is not a god. The Nightmare Court did not form from the negative aspects of the Dream but rather formed said negative aspects (or rather, was formed then found them). Not all non-Courtiers are kind, actually…

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

1. The Norn knew of Jormag (see his tooth in Hoelbrak).
2. The Charr didn’t have tanks yet then, they’re relatively recent I think.
5. Pale Tree =/= a God. And Sylvari are friendly, but not weak. They learn strength from ivy and viciousness from blackberry bushes.

5) Sylvari
Pros
They have a God of nature (Pale Tree) to guide them.
The Dream is a source of knowledge (they become emerged fully self aware)

And not all Courtiers are kittens, some are in fact quite honorable.
