Good dungeons run this evening! We had a full legion running AC story and explore.
Hope I weren’t too bossy!

@Death Reincanated – WvW maps are a bit of a pain in the … I still have a couple of PvE maps to complete but for the last few weeks I’ve been making forays into WvW because I’d read about the issues of getting points on opposing team maps. I’ve found that if you are around at the point that the weekly match restarts (for me that’s Friday/Staurday 12midnight-ish GMT) that can be a good time to get in and grab a few points in maps that you own. Then also Saturday later on can be a good time, after your world has had time to wake up, organise itself and take back some positions or go on an assault. After that I tend to check in a couple of times a week, visiting my World’s borderland map and then the EB map to see if I have a chance at anything as yet undiscovered.

As your World’s position in the tables can change each week, so can your starting map on the WvW world – this may take you a few weeks to do or you can choose to zerg round unfriendly maps or even transfer server to get points you need on a winning world.

So far I’ve completed two borderland maps and 2/3 of the EB map. I shall just keep plugging away. Plus it makes for a nice change when you find a zerg to follow, trash a few enemy keeps and kill a few off-worlders

Eredon Terrace is so bad at WvWvW… I don’t know how I’ll get those POIs. Actually, I’ve heard that ET is mighty, but way too small to really beat anybody else. Maybe by the time I get there, we’ll have more people and will be kicking butt! ;]

Things do move incredibly fast around here! Sometimes I find myself scrambling to keep up, and I check in at least a couple times a day. It’s always a great read though, isn’t it? ;]

@Aeleniel – couldn’t agree more. this here really does move too fast, but am glad. looking forward to the site in works for a place where all this chatter can go! as long as we don’t scare off any new-comers ; ))) although, i have to say, all this nuttiness has done nothing but draw in more peeps! so kudos to you all. /salute

O___________o definitely good practice though heh. wow, we’re i think around the same-ish progress in terms of our story. almost done as well, but sitll feels so far. they make you jump around the zones so much it’s silly lol. but i know you can do it!! have you done all the WvW maps for completion as well?

I noticed a few said they would like to do CoF. I have ran it quite a few times, and feel confident I could lead a group through there. Would be nice to run it with the guild instead of a PUG.

@everybody doing dungeons, good to see that more people are getting involved. We all learn from experiences and the more people try, the better we as a group will be at those dungeons. So keep it up, make sure you’re having fun and don’t let Glitch get to you

I also wanted to tell you people a bit off what i’ve experienced since i played GW2.
I’m a MMORPG player for a few years now (well, more like 7 by now but hey, who’s counting ) and did play a very long time World of Warcraft (before it became Kung Fu Panda meets Pokemon).
I also tried a few F2P ones, with different experiences. But i have still a few ones on my hard disk, waiting ‘till i have some time to play them. There is Star Trek Online (yep, i’m a Trekkie, love the series, love the movies and even the last one, wich is kind off a restart for the franchise) and Lord Of The Rings Online, with a great story and a world that i love to explore (big fan off the books and movies).
But…. after playing GW2, i have a problem with the other ones. And that is graphics!
I just LOVE the graphics in GW2 and compare them all the time when playing something else. And for STO, there is not that much off a problem, they have decent graphics, specially the space ships are great. But LOTRO, that feels SOOOO wrong! Its more like WoW with the cartoony style. And i find it not good anymore.
So i’m gonna have to decide if i’m willing to look at the lesser graphics or just delete the whole thing and keep playing GW2.
I just wanted to tell some people about this and was wondering how you experience the graphics off GW2 and what effect they have on youre appreciation towards other games.

Hey folks! Is it really my fault that this is happening because I didn’t think that this would even get remotely recognised?

I blame all of you lovely people for creating such a fantastic atmosphere and gathering more people to the cause!

As for the graphics I find them new and interesting. The landscaping is amazing better than most. As for the graphical improvements it’s better eyecandy as everything is outdated.

GW2 has done a good job with improving social interaction, in GW1 I never saw a soul except in the HUB’s. You think the it’s lonely now… :P
However I do miss some things from GW1 like dual profs and how the guild organisation was set out.

It’s putting a different spin on things , a step up but wouldn’t call it revolutionary.

The only gripe I have is the lack of practical armour sets. Sure I do like some of the audacious outfits but I love my good set of practical armours. I would like to see more medieval plate armour but with more variations. That’s just my personal preference.

Thanks again to everyone who ran AC last night. That was great fun. Note to self however, ranger 1h sword is not the best for dungeoning….

@Glitch: I completely agree with the armours. It’s fantasy, so fantastical designs are welcome, but it would be nice to have some more practical sets. And as a player who doesn’t get along with the heavy armour classes, it would actuallty be awesome to have you know, stuff that looks like armour at all.

Both “medium” and “light” armours could definitely use some skins that actually look like armour. I don’t believe there is a non-dungeon medium armour that looks the part, other than the Vigil set.

But then I tend to think of heavy = plate like, medium = chain and similar, light = leather. This game should almost go more by the categories: robes/clothes, leather and metal.

I still miss Morrowind and it’s lovely implementation of actual medium armour….

I read something you posted somewhere else and had to laugh. “i call this the Your-Wife-Will-Always-Get-Better-Loot than you mechanism that is currently in game.” I swear this exists! Kit ALWAYS gets better drops than me 9 times out of 10 (apart from dyes which seem to like me more).

maybe we could offset the balance if we were all together getting stuff, that and my alterior motive of wanting to do JPs with you (come on guesting!)

I love the graphics of he game, Tyria is a beatiful place, but there is a bit too much bloom for my liking. I prefer the graphics of Mass Effect 3 over those of GW2, couldn’t tell you exactly why that is, I guess personal preference. still think its a beautiful game though.

speaking of dungeons, I think so far my favourite dungeons are AC and HoTW, still want to try the others though. not so fond of TA, spiders and poisen are not my friends.

had a “hmmm” moment in TA the other day as we were being swarmed by spiders. someone put invisibility on the group, and I noticed my grenade kit does not go invisible, wondered if it just looked like a floating grenade kit to everyone else :/

I don’t know what you are talking about. I think you are on something. And yes… Mr 19 dyes in a day, you get a WAY better dye drop rate than I do. AND all my GOOD drops seem to be for YOUR characters. AND I share. Well, as best I can anyway.

I’m shiny because I’m kool like that. Actually, on max graphics, certain bright colors shine like that in the light.

Wow, what a backlog from the weekend. I had about two pages to catch up on.

@jjc: Scepter/Focus is fine, though you may want to try Scepter/Dagger as well. Focus allows you a few more mid-range spells and I feel is a bit more defensive, but that offhand dagger gives you Ride The Lightning and more offensive. You may want to try an aura build (I’ve heard Scepter is good for that), but I don’t quite have the time right now to make the build and post it. Catch me in game when I can look at my traits. I use Knight’s gear for the precision and toughness and have sigils that proc off crits.

@Kit: I guess I ward of the TA bugs you and G seem to be prone to, eh?

Unfortunately, no credits play at the end of the story like they did at the end of GW1 campaigns.

This sounds like a fantastic idea! While I’m also part of a small ‘friends and family’ guild, I would love to support and be part of this idea when I can (usually on my ‘alt days’).

Hello I usually go by Lefler but it’s already Dax on this account so we’ll just go with that. GW2 is my first real MMO. I have been playing fantasy rpgs though for a long time however.
I am looking for some people to PvE with mostly but am up for Dungeons etc. I would really like to to find a guild that can sort of show me the multiplayer ropes but wont have to hold my hand too much.
Also my RL job is freelance and seasonal, so I bought a new computer and this game so I would have something to do with all my free time this winter. So I am online, A LOT. I enjoy the crafting aspect thankfully so I fill a lot of that time with wandering for resources while I try to make it through the story solo.

Many other people in the guild also have other guilds they belong too – as a cross-server guild it can be a bit tricky to set up events, but we manage of course. And kitten that Black Lion Trading Company for the gold blackhole it is for me – hope you can hold onto the cash a bit better than me!

When we get a website up I may organise a total reboot of ranks. Just a heads up, I will begin to implement Helequin’s ranks more fully. My instinct tells me there will be more growth and I should really organise this a bit more. Yes I will sift through this entire thread so our dedicated members will not be tossed aside and will be rewarded accordingly. As well as our helpful veterans that have helped all the newcomers.

This is more of a foot note for me.

I’ve finally worked out how to turn my D/D elementalist into a melee AOE threat. Still figuring things out, but it’s awesome to scoot into a ton of mobs, blast them all and flip out. Hurray Fire/Air!

Don’t worry, I’m still working on my story too. My highest level character is just over level 40, and I’m spending time dinking around with my other (very low leveled) alts. The guild’s got lots of people at lots of different levels.

Definatly like more functional looking armours, weapons too for that matter. Im not that much of a fan of the Anime style weapons that seem to be about, thankfully they seem mostly on the 2h side of things so I can happily avoid them.

@Nots: i understand what you’re saying, the graphics are great but there are other games with better offcourse. But they are not MMO games. I personaly prefer Skyrim (with a few additional mods, some 35 ones ) but in MMO world, i think GW2 is at a lonely top at the moment. And that makes it harder to enjoy any other MMO for me. Hmmm, maybe this is all a plan from Anet to keep us in Tyria….. forever!!!
