There’s a lot of negative banter, but there is one thing you can take from it… there’s a lot of people that are quite into the WvW scene and a good bit of server pride as well. While the chat may be less than friendly I think overall it’s a good sign.

I would also ask that the decent guilds and communities of SOR help to keep some of this in check also. (I think the bulk of SOR is made up of decent classy community members.)

FoE and AGG are both in the process of moving to Blackgate.
SoS was our home but in recent weeks they have simply given up and the militia have vanished/bandwaggoned. We found ourselves trying to hold 2-3 maps between 2 guilds and pugs, with other guilds cowering away from the fight. People like tsym having 4 of 65 online people in WvW wanting to take week off after week off if we aint winning, and other guilds more interested in Fractals than fighting for 2nd place.
This was starting to snowball and was not healthy for either of our guilds who are both active competitive pvp guilds, and after several weeks of server meetings we decided its simply time to move on.
Will we have a better chance of being #1 with Blackgate? Probably not unless they get Oceanic/SEA transfers, but what we will get is a server who actually want to fight and never give up which is all our guilds want.
We wish Sea of Sorrows the best and we leave sad that the server went this way.

I say this as a JQ citizen. If you guys are bailing to another server, don’t leave the guild ND on a sinking SOS. They are too good to fall out of T1. Remember that SoS recruited them, so if the server is giving up on WvW, atleast let them know so they can find a new home on SoR or Blackgate, or maybe even TC, though I think they should stay in T1.

FoE and Agg are bandwagon guilds that can’t bear the thought of not being in tier one. They think their guilds stand a better chance at staying in tier one than they do on SoS, that’s why they are leaving. The server isn’t dieing, it’s two bandwagon guilds leaving (they bandwagoned to SoS, it was a matter of time before they left it), not a dead server. Tier one isn’t going to be a three way competition until the numbers even out, that’s just how it is. The server didn’t get weaker, they just didn’t get all the transfers that JQ, and to a lesser extent, SoR and other servers got.

I’m guessing Agg and FoE are hoping their bandwagoning off of the server will snowball with other guilds on the server and force SoS into tier two. That will cause their new server, conveniently the strongest tier two server, to move up to tier one.

As far as you speaking as a JQ citizen about ND needing to stay in tier one (I like ND and I’m glad I get to play with them), a lot of people on both SoS and SoR don’t consider tier one very competitive. I know it’s not fun beating up on an out-manned opponent, but that’s what happens when you can fill maps with transfers and the other servers can’t. I honestly believe every server would get better competition in tier two where the numbers (at least between first and second) will be more even. My experience with ND is that they play around Oceanic/SEA times and thus even in tier one, they have plenty of support from the native SoS population and don’t have to fight JQ zergs that greatly outnumber them (which is the case for many other times of the day) but tier two has Kaineng. During ND’s time in WvW, Kaineng is probably the best server to compete against. Their Oceanic and SEA presence is probably the only one that rivals SoS (and many guilds on Kaineng are formerly tier one) so if SoS were to drop to tier two, I strongly suspect the best fights for ND would be in tier two. Kaineng doesn’t look to be leaving tier two any time soon (not unless they get more coverage judging from their match with BG) so the Oceanic/SEA scores between the two servers will be a lot of fun to watch (hopefully). If ND did transfer off, they’d be missing out. This is all assuming SoS drops to tier two.

The attitude that WvW is somehow not worth playing or vastly inferior in any tier other than tier one is seriously detrimental to the health of WvW and from what I can see, defies logic (especially with the numbers difference in tier one currently). Thinking you have to be in tier one for competitive WvW is what makes WvW not competitive, it’s what breaks servers, it’s what stacks competition and demoralises players who just want to have fun.

At least one thing good game out of this. Agg and FoE are paying our “subscription” fees this month. Hopefully BG doesn’t start losing in the future, otherwise ArenaNet’s coffers might see another boost.

Tier 1 offers better coverage fights than tier 2, same as tier 2 offers better fights than tier 3.

ND would have better fights in tier 1 than tier 2. I understand Kaineng has a good oceanic crew but JQ probably trumps that.

But we have. Sor has gone out of its way to talk to other guilds on other servers, to do mass 3 hour logouts multiple times a day to get the guilds that want over here, and even raise donations to help cover some of the costs to rebuild some of the guilds since guilds have to restart when they transfer. The problem, however, is there’s a lot of people in this game that just want to coast to first and not put in the actual effort to getting to first. And because of that, most of these people transferred to your server since you’re in tier 1 in first place instead of ours which was tier 2 first place at the time, hence your inability to fight open field. Oh and just to remind you, it was your guild that started this whole flame war when some of your members and commanders decided to badmouth SoR and call it open season on a few of our guilds.

Are you even online? SOS and SOR both have just as many as JQ from where Im looking. (Been in Eternal B for about 4 hours) Well, I shouldn’t say that. SOS -did- have equal numbers, then we kicked them out of their keep, let them have it back, then kicked them out again, and they all disappeared after that. SOR has constantly been here though with a full force since we flipped their keep the first time. And I know SOS has to have at least 30 on their own BL since they never lost their garrison to Waha Foo and the gang.

Wow, a few weeks not winning and people are bailing off SoS already?

JQ has been faced with:

- Dying WvW population and outmanned many nights on all bl.
- Guilds/people more interested in fractals.
- Frustrated player morale for being number two for many weeks.
- Guilds leaving the server.
- Many rebuilding phases.
- Not having adequate coverage for all time zones.
- Every other excuse people are using for leaving SoS.

I want to thank each and every person who kept JQ together through it all. Kept morale high, recruited very well, DIDNT say ’wow this server is not for us lets leave", and DID say “this server is amazing, we need more ppl come be amazing with us”.

Let the server who is without bandwagoners and transferees cast the first stone…

Kaineng’s troubles in T2 aren’t coverage, they vastly outnumber BG during Oceanic but can’t seem to push BG to spawn camp armed only with a handful of feisty commanderless pugs

True… however the numbers disparity is much greater during the daytime NA hours than it is when JQ numbers are down. Not a complaint but an acknowledgement of JQ doing a better job in overall 24 hour coverage.

JQ has always been a T1 server but it has never been an absolutely dominating server that has won T1 weeks on end. NSP, HoD, SBI, SoS have seen their glory days and all been #1 for a long duration while JQ is barely starting it’s victory streak.

It get’s lonely at the top especially if your server trumps all the others with hardly any effort… Only a matter of time before JQ falls off as well.

I’m sorry? I saw a 20 man SoR zerg running around just minutes before we owned the entire map, they just left. Literally, vanished. Bunch of wimps.

And you can’t say that when JQ is at it’s weakest you guys wouldn’t attack us. What a load of bull. The amount of times you guys have taken SM from us when we have no one to defend it just proves that.

Great to see a SoR who acknowledge JQ, cheers to you buddy, coverage is important, just like SoR got to T1 or SoS kept #1 place for 9 weeks… by outnumbering the other servers ^ ^ but sadly they just won’t accept it and everything is about how skilled they are :P

So I just checked SOR BL, they have as many people on it as I have seen from JQ. (theres like 7-8 more up at the door you cant see in this picture) There’s also no Q to get onto this map on JQs side.

There are lots of old replies that fit here. I shall list them in no particular order replacing Jade Quarry for Midgard/Destro where needed.

1. When we take a keep, we step over a swath of dead players. When JQ takes a keep they step over dead NPCs.

2. JQ becomes more and more skillful at wvw as people go to work or sleep.

3. How can you tell JQ is about to have a point surge? Unemployment numbers are up.

4. The primary action of a Jade Quarry zerg at prime time? Wait.

According to the MOS charts, Jade Quarry has been 1st 4 times, 2nd 10 times, and 3rd 3 times (we were also almost bumped to T2)

ND would have better fights in tier 1 than tier 2. I understand Kaineng has a good oceanic crew but JQ probably trumps that.

I’ve fought the JQ Oceanic crew and I’ve fought War Machine during Oceanic times. JQ, even with their new transfers, does not trump War Machine during the SBI days (imo), never mind the War Machine on Kaineng which I’ve heard complaints about queues during Oceanic/SEA times (SoS doesn’t see queues during Oceanic times and we are the unofficial Oceanic server – note that is PvX, not all Oceanics WvW). When I say Kaineng probably has coverage problems, I mean outside of Oceanic/SEA. We saw when BG was in tier one, while their overall coverage was weaker than JQ (and probably SoS), it was still competitive (at least with SoS). I honestly don’t know too much about Kaineng overall, I haven’t fought against Kaineng yet, but I have fought War Machine and I know they have strong Oceanic/SEA coverage in addition to War Machine.

Tier one offers one sided coverage. Sure no matter what time of the day you are on, there will be an opponent (JQ), but the problem now (and I speak in the general sense of the server strengths and coincidentally specifically this time zone) you won’t have allies (and in the case of JQ, much of an opposition). I haven’t been tier two in a while, but looking at their scores over the last few weeks and knowing the guilds and playing against the servers that have been there, I think it looks very competitive.

I mostly call Agg and FoE bandwagon guilds because they weren’t SoS natives, they came there because it was winning, and they are leaving when it’s losing. I can understand their frustration, WvW has been a mixed bag lately and a lot of adjusting has been taking place, I think the design (and meta) of WvW encourages guilds to do what they are doing. If they weren’t having fun on SoS any more and transferring is what they needed to do to preserve the game for their guilds, as much as it sucks for the people negatively impacted by it, it’s the right call to make personally.

As far as the essays go, I need to stop. I doubt I will.

So I just checked SOR BL, they have as many people on it as I have seen from JQ. (theres like 7-8 more up at the door you cant see in this picture) There’s also no Q to get onto this map on JQs side.

Traditionally this is when we start picking back up and taking things back. It just takes a while because everything is fully upgraded and the enemy has had time to put up siege. Our strongest time is obviously NA Prime but this is when people start trickling in. A quick glance at Mos can show that.

What point were you trying to make? No one said SoR is outnumbered 24/7.

Edit: We generally don’t start picking back up for another 2 hours or so according to Mos. Some of that time is probably accounted for by trying to flip upgrade/defended towers but I have no idea since I’m not on at this time.

Wow, a few weeks not winning and people are bailing off SoS already?

JQ has been faced with:

- Dying WvW population and outmanned many nights on all bl.
- Guilds/people more interested in fractals.
- Frustrated player morale for being number two for many weeks.
- Guilds leaving the server.
- Many rebuilding phases.
- Not having adequate coverage for all time zones.
- Every other excuse people are using for leaving SoS.

I want to thank each and every person who kept JQ together through it all. Kept morale high, recruited very well, DIDNT say ’wow this server is not for us lets leave", and DID say “this server is amazing, we need more ppl come be amazing with us”.

JQ has always been a T1 server but it has never been an absolutely dominating server that has won T1 weeks on end. NSP, HoD, SBI, SoS have seen their glory days and all been #1 for a long duration while JQ is barely starting it’s victory streak.

It get’s lonely at the top especially if your server trumps all the others with hardly any effort… Only a matter of time before JQ falls off as well.

I agree that empires rise and fall, right now JQ is very strong but it will not always be this way. Your history is way off though. Out of your list only Hod and SoS have been an overly dominant presence.

HoD were a monster but they were gone barely a month after live. Their power came from a powerhouse allinace and once that dissolved the server dropped from WvW. NSP never really got it together before AA moved to ET and then they barely got it together either before they fell. SBI were definitely stronger than JQ for many weeks, in the end we outlasted them.

I am not boasting here at all, please don’t take it that way but JQ has re-invented itself a number of times now, we have clung on by our fingernails to T1 at times and thru the ups and downs have always have a strong core WvW community it seems. Right now there is no denying we have better overall coverage than the competition. However we also have coverage gaps and periods of lesser strength. We maximise our output when we are strong and minimise our losses when we are not.

Anyway, nothing lasts forever and I am sure things will be very different in a month or two. When you think how things have changed over the past 5 months thats a sure bet.

Go join a WwW guild and then maybe you will understand the BIG difference fighting an organized guild and fighting PuGs.

You sure talk alot for someone new on JQ, where are you when JQ had a hard times few months ago? Oh wait , you too busy bandwagoning to every winning server. (Maguuma and Desolation say “hi” to you dude )

it’s not coverage that’s making the difference, SoS was formed with “fairweather” guilds, and now some former BG guilds are going back because they quit as soon as they are met with resistance lolollol

thought sos would show more endurance, disappointing to see them implode
