Simple Solution to The Bloodlust Controversy.
I won’t be updating the vote again. It seems to be quite clear what the consensus of the WvW Community is. This vote only indicates the active forums members opinion of the buff. However one thing that should be considered by Anet is that anyone who has such an interest in WvW that they spend their time when not playing it on the forums really have a vested interest.
My personal opinion of the buff is that it will be extremely detrimental to the game. Unfortunately it will give the larger servers an unfair advantage. Before my time in WvW stat buffs were trialled and failed due to the imbalance caused in favour of the stronger servers. Just because you change the mechanic by which they are received doesn’t negate the problems that they cause.
This will also ruin a thriving community of Guild vs Guild players. Whatever your opinion is of the people who are active in this community both the players and Anet should understand that they are WvW players as well. They don’t GvG all the time and spend most of their active game time in WvW.
The real way to discourage blobbing is to introduce new maps and lower the player caps on each as this will cause the blobs to spread out. However this will not fix the problems with the match ups as the server with the most numbers will most likely always win.
That being said though I play on Ring of Fire. As WvW communities go we are quite small but tight knit. Basically every week recently we have had some pretty poor match ups. Caring about the PPT is pointless. What keeps us playing WvW is the skill involved when we fight. Meeting blobs in open field combat and taking them down even when facing 2 or 3 times our numbers. When the fights become tipped even more in our adversaries favour this will be ruined.
What really needs to happen is the developer’s need to create some test servers for WvW. This would allow their ideas to be properly tested prior to being implemented into the game. Getting real feedback from players on what works and what doesn’t. Otherwise how can the developer’s truly know what sort of effect anything will have on the balance of their game.

If you mean the mechanics around the buff and how you obtain it: yes.
I feel a buff is required but not one that involves raw stats added to one particular server… its simply asking for strong servers to be even stronger.

Do i want a buff tied to objectives in the center of the borderlands: YES
Do i want this buff to give stats or other in-combat-advantages to players: hell no.
there were so many good suggestions for alternative bonuses:
-the point-on-stomp
-faster upgrades
-increased/faster supply-caravans
etc.

I’m pretty sure no-one wants the stat buff aspect of it and once the new orbs come out I’ll most likely quit the game as it ruins the whole purpose of it for me.

No to stats and power creep. I remember words from ANET – there would be no grind, there would be no power creep.
Between ascended and soon ascended armour, the difference is getting bigger and bigger. Grind2win, rather than WvW being open to all (as they envisioned). Almost becoming like WAR, with RR gear destroying fresh 80s. It pretty much is already, the WXP, skill less, pvd karma farmers with their 400+ WXP ranks and like 10k kills have much more use in WvW – like draining supply with trebs, defending their precious points. While the guys with 200 wxp ranks and over 100k kills get penalised.
How bout some rewards for WvW kills.

There could be so much stuff they could do with this buff and yet they want to implement the easiest solutuion and also the most boring one: static stats.
Oh, btw. its also the only thing people activly asked not to bring into WvW.

Good luck for the first season Devon, without any preparations to WvW bringing all this stuff you worked on in a single patch you’ll need it. I hope your dedicated WvW playerbase doesnt decrease too much within 7 weeks so you can bring us something more interesting that that.

Agree with all above, the borderlands revamp looks awesome and I cant wait to roam around, a buff is also nice, just NO stat buff.
We know you once intended wvw to be a casual game, but the majority wants it to be competitive. A stat buff will only cause snowballing and make it even less competitive as it is now as PPT will mean nothing.

There will be a buff that you get if you contol at least 3/5 capture points for two minutes in the updated borderlands map (coming next patch).
The buff itself will give you +50 to all primary stats and finishing players with a stomp will give you +1 point. So stomping 5 players in a fight will be worth as much as controlling a camp.
Each borderland will have a bloodlust buff and will effect the other BLs and EB.
The stat increase such a buff would give is a massive NO, it’s clear for everyone to see, apart from the devs, that it’s guaranteed to have a negative impact on WvW as a whole, for obvious reasons.
Although I understand that there needs to be something of value for people to fight over these buffs, giving them a stat boost isn’t the right way to go. The extra points for stomping people however is an idea I like.

I am not sure about the stat bonus. It might work in conjunction with outmaned buff, but as it stands it might just invite more uneven fights.

Yes i want a buff and an orb mechanic. The buff needs to be impactful, stats is one way to do this- there are surely better ways but we will just have to fight for them.

Pending to see how it works, if higher population just zerg gets it then it doesn’t help the current situation, if it promotes scattered game-play then it will be great.

No to the stat buff since it simply (and inexplicably) compounds the balance problem between servers.
There is one semi-positive aspect of the bloodlust buff, though. It proves rather conclusively to anyone who has played very long that the ANet devs are totally out of touch with WvW. If any of us had any hope that the original promise of WvW (large scale, strategy-based, multi-mode, open world medieval-type warfare) would be met, we pretty much know better now. We didn’t ask for this buff, we mostly don’t want it, and it’s going to compound other shortfalls in the game design … yet we’re going to get it anyway instead of countless other things that should be addressed.
Random and extreme changes are the crutch of the clueless.

^Was just about to type that. I hate having stat advantage/disadvantage over someone just because I/he have played more wvw than the other, or some other external factor.

+50 stats per buff. Potential 150 stat points in Power, Toughness, Vitality, Conditiondmg. and Healing. You decide if it is much or not.
No, one single player cant remove it easily since it takes ages to cap a point.

1x Bloodlust = 100% magic find, 100% gold find
3x Bloodlust = 300% magic find, 300% gold find

This would have 2 effects – Bloodlust would be demanded to have. And it will reduce loot problems in WvW. And it will give outnumbered servers a chance.

We already got Power of the Mists, which offers similar bonuses to the servers based on their score in their current match up.

I do not want more power to snow pile on the server which has superior numbers and coverage. I have suggested some defensive buffs to the structures and NPCs and to a smaller degree players on a heavily outnumbered side, but I have explained already well before that giving offensive bonuses even to the outnumbered side is a bad bad idea. Giving offensive map wide boosts to the side, which is already winning, is just plain madness and a great way to drive off the outnumbered side back to pve and other games.
Bloodlust would be bad for guild-vs-guild, who want as equal fighting ground as possible (e.g. stacks from weapon sigils must be nulled before match). EB jumping puzzle is difficult location for gvg and the long queus to EB might make gvgs a thing of the past. Arenanet should be careful not alienate their hard core player base.

Not in its present form. I like the points for stomps, but the stat buffs are not needed. Snowballing will happen again just like the original orbs.
FA has got a small SEA population, so against a server with a large SEA population that flips everything to paper on us and has all 3 buffs before NA logs on , it will be a difficult task to push back. It is a measure of coverage, nothing else.

That isn’t the point of what I said. Its getting implemented, regardless of this post. This whole system is bring a whole new meta where small man groups can be extremely effective for your server, was that not the complaint last week? Need more for small groups?
