Anet is smart, they just give an answer and than they ignore it till it goes off track so they can lock it.
Now about that bloodlust buff…
It is less OP than before with the orbs because the winning server who got the Orbs are located in keeps what is impossible to get to if they got a buff.
Now it’s in the middle of the BL, accessable from all sides.
If the dominated server got all buffs/some keeps in that BL, you simply go with ~40% of your server to a keep from them to lure most of them away from the Bloodlust points. so you are able to take the bloodlust points with the other part of your server.
If it goes right you can turn things around quite quickly.
Only downside, buff is serverside, so available in other BL’s. If you don’t have the numbers to cover all maps, you have a disadvantage because you lose the previous captured bloodlust IF you go to a diffrent BL to get another Bloodlust buff.
Basically, if your server is only able to cover 1 BL and other server can have all maps a Queue you are lost because they have either 150 stat increase less or 50 or 100.
This is just my PoV how Anet expect/thinks about it.

Simple, have that still active there at the windmill and other buffs like stats increase disabled.

No. That is not a possibility at this time. The point of the buff is to affect the WvW game mode as a whole disabling it on your character would lessen the value of the buff to a server and completely invalidate the whole point.
This clearly says that they don’t want it because it will be possible in the whole Borderland. My statement is to deactivate it in one area where nothing is located.
So it will be still value to the server.
Also Devon made an post before saying talking about changes that doesn’t support GvG (like this bloodlust) but WvW, not that he wants GvG community to kitten off and go to Hotm.

Well soon the speculation can end. I am sure we will all be right and it will quickly be reflected by the current scores. Whoever holds the most population at the time will most likely control the bloodlust buff and their score will reflect this. It should not take long for it to be obvious to all parties involved, how this change is going to negatively affect the game.

All you are effectively saying is that you are anti objective based PVP and just want a sandbox.. That is not this game and you will not have that.
I’m not quite sure what that has to do with making it a sandbox. Changing the Bloodlust stat buff to a PPT buff would make it no more or less of a sandbox than it already is. Removing PPT/war score might be a step in that direction, but even a sandbox has objectives.

Dueling and GvG’s may not have been intended on WvW maps, but they happen. The fight club scene is a big one and having these stat buffs effectively ruins any fair fights.
There are even known rules that you just don’t duel with 25 stacks of any type on, now with this buff you could have 150 to all stats?
If changes to WvW keep going they way they are, soon you won’t see any small groups running around, unless it’s to get to the zerg.
I’ll throw in my vote against the buff. Bloodlust is a poorly thought out, novice game design decision.
It honestly breaks my heart to see you abandoning the potential of your game, Arenanet. Combo fields and dodges alone made this game a diamond in the rough. The possibilities for skill interaction between organized groups of players is absolutely amazing and deeply fascinating. Yet, after developing these fantastically tight mechanics, you relegate organized, even group play to 10 v 10 matches—a format that does not even come close to how interesting combat between skilled groups can be. On top of that, you make the build variety available in this mode absolutely stifling.
The cherry on top? Even after a dedicated group of players—ones who recognized just how much fun your game’s mechanics are in 15v15 or 20v20 even fights—emerge and start building a community that showcases how fantastic group combat in your game is, you snub them and everyone else who wants a fair, fun fight in WvW.

ok so since my previous post was merged i see we have many more. this one has staff responces too! well i’d like to say that often at this time (midnight) i’d log my main, throw up my commander tag and lead the fight vs the enemy in a brave effort to hold onto a few towers in wvw.
tonight i’m not going wvw. why would i deliberately seek an unfair fight vs a more populated server with extra stats?
can’t answer? nor can i.
i would like to ask who thought this bloodlust idea was good and who allowed it to be implemented? then i’d like to ask that these people NEVER be allowed to contribute to balance or development of game mechanics ever again.
you should have learned from the orbs. guild wars is supposed to be the mmo based on the idea of a fair fight. this is anything but fair. fix it; remove the stats bonus ASAP.

I am one of them, i wont touch S/TPvP in its current form, its just SO boring and so unbalanced that is not fun in any way shape or form. WvW is the ONLY way i will play PvP it is pretty much the only thing i play in the game other then the odd event outside but at least 90% of my day is spent in WvW.
The way its going WvW is going to be dead very soon, its just getting worse and getting things that players DONT want and just becoming less and less fun, i love roaming and small fights if they want to take that away – i will quit, simple as that i would rtaher NOT play the game then play the mode they are INSANE thinking could ever become a Esport unless it gets some BIG changes.
I think the best solution would be (if they don’t want to modify it) to implement a shrine or whatever where people can go to and decide by themselves whether they want the buff active or not !

The points per tick is in line with what is would be at this time of the day without the stat bonus.
But what is even a further confirmation of the point you are making is that we as the lowest ranked server for this weeks match-up constantly had 50,100,+150 buff.
It has no benefit for us as the other game mechanics still remain the same, We are as usual outnumbered every where and now we are devoting manpower to a buff that provides no benefit.
Feedback, as long as it’s about butterflies, red roses and/or child birth.
Pfft. I hate all those things.
But seriously, the team does watch this thread and does keep the feedback. And we also compile particularly good constructive feedback for the team, so they don’t miss it.
They just ignore it all and do whatever though right? People have been shouting they liked the idea of more land points to fight over but hated the stat boosts and now sprinkle on top of that the boost themselves ping so often on so many people it in itself lags out every server. Seriously giving up on any hope I ever had that this game could be something great. All we’ve gotten is disappointment from these “updates” and the QOL changes that should have been in from launch.
They seriously reintroduced the same problem as the old orb buffs, except now it comes with more skill lag and players twitching all over the screen every time the bloodlust buff pings.

the stats are not bad, what is bad is the placements of the capture points.
Bloodlust should not apply the buffs to NPCs.
The only Buff that outmanned buff should provide is
-All Siege deal 20% more damage
-All NPCs/Walls/Doors take 20% less damage.
This will allow the server that is Outmanned, to still stand a chance and defend
first off all i wish to say thanks for the change of the map. Finally we got bored playing in the same fields and now the fights can be very interesting. However the system of the orbs is not that bad, but it shouldnt stack with all 3 borderlands. Last night because of a server had the numbers, they dominated all 3 orbs and no one could beat them. All 3 stacks orbs for a high populated server its just like you brought imortality by power. The blobs pass and they kill everyone in few seconds. Really its not fun. Another piont the 5 orb pionts all in the middle of the map doesnt fit well. Anet said they bringing this system out to remove the blobs. A blob can turn all the 5 orb pionts very easy. From yesterday GvG and WvW died and now its the age of PvP and blob wars

The biggest complaint I hear about WvW is that it isn’t fun and isn’t fair (team vs team). I have little sympathy for the players who play WvW only for loot … they don’t belong here and should stay in PvE. WvW was supposedly for players who wanted to pit themselves against other players in a fun and challenging environment requiring strategic decisions on a large scale without having to grind for it … except that ANet has made sure that is not the case.
I’m trying to remember why they removed the Orbs in the first place. Um, yeah that’s right, making the strongest/blobiest team stronger didn’t work. what makes them think it will work now.

I haven’t been in WvW to see this, but I didn’t even think it causing more lag. So many excuses about the AoE limit and condition stack limit being there because it creates too many extra calculations and bandwidth requirements for the servers…but it’s fine to go and add a buff to every player on a server, that is having the same negative effect.
The lag is something you have to see to believe. It’s seriously unplayable.
Same mistake as Orbs. General idea of that middle area is great but stat rewards are wrong in many different ways. Why it must be stats? Why not something like more supply carrying capacity or something less gamebreaking than 150 to all stats..

what game are you playing? because your not playing gw2 WvW.
This week the match is abaddon’s mouth-aurora glade-far shiverpeaks. Most of the time AM(200,000) and AG(130,000) has the buff. FS(90,000) only has it sometimes at evening or night. What we see here is that the 1st and 2nd server can fight each other, but the 3rd doesn’t have a chance. Which means that the 3rd server will probably need a buff in order to have a chance to fight back. (and please don’t wait for people to leave their server, or you’ll lose the game)

If he had said nothing after ‘no stat buffs for anyone imo’ then I would agree with you. But instead he followed it up with ‘+5% PPT sure.’ I inferred from this that he does not really care about objectives as only guys that care about PPT would even bother getting / stopping PPT buffs. I think my assessment of him is a lot nearer than yours of me.
Other solution with stat buff: You get the bloodlust buff automatic, as inferior buff! And the buff goes away when more people are on the Map.
Solution without stat boost: holding three of these points will give you more loot. More magic find, more gold, and so on.

what game are you playing? because your not playing gw2 WvW.
Wxp gives bonuses which aid players get ppt by making it easier to use sieges, kill other players, survive longer etc.
whereas the bloodlust buff also does the same by making it easier for players to kill others, and be a bit tankier and gain points (by spiking only direct link to ppt).
Both make it easier for players to gain ppt, but also at the same time players don’t only fight for ppt, either way, wxp rank traits and bloodlust gives an advantage to the person who has it in wvw.
The good thing about bloodlust is it’s not permanent since it requires players to activate whereas wxp is permanent once traited.

To be fair to him I think what he means is that he does not bother with the cough e-sport cough S/TPVP because it is not balanced sufficiently to be equal so probably feels it is insulting his intelligence. WvW is not sold as or expected to be balanced or fair by its very nature so had no problem with it.
However, along with all the other general mismanagement of the WvW format, to put in such a misguided and badly thought out deliberate unbalancing feature and expect reasonable thinking people to just suck it up is indeed insulting our intelligence.
At least, thats what I think.
If WvW were balanced numbers wise then stat buffs would not be so much of an issue as all on a level playing field, when numbers can be 750 v 200 v 50 whats the bloody point?
The killer of the stat buffs is the guys that wake up to 0 ppt and the enemy with superior buff, they are not overly motivated to even bother playing = the only person actually happy is that guy who cares about PPT and he is a weirdo anyway.

You’re killing WvW. I’ve ben playing quite seriously both roaming solo/small Group and with my Guild usually about 20 man strong. Now my 50 man Guild are looking for a new game to play – about half of us want to move on. We love the open fields fights and to gvg, but instead of giving us the Tools we need to play the way we want to (must admit WvW isnt very good for GvG) You kill what Little we have. Also the stat buff is not fun at all for when just roaming about. Doesnt matter if i have the advatage or our opponents, none (yes none) in our Guild like it either way.
I do Think it was a good move to remove the lake, as do most my friends.
You could have actually made something fun and new to the gameplay with these buffs, like for example, owning Three lets you build a ladder that you can slowly move around the map and use to move up on a wall….. I made that idea up just now on the top of my head. That would change the gameplay. Adding or removing numbers dont. Ladder might not be the best idea but do you see my Point?
If you do want numbers then this is the worst of ideas anyway, for many reasons. i’ve seen lots of others typing in great ideas.
Also why on Earth cant we fight each other 1v1? How is not having an option to duel your friends a good idea?? Just give us an Arena to fight whoever we please in whatever numbers we please, from what ever server we please.
Any game mechanic that adds to stats that one server can obtain as opposed to another is automatically going to favor the more populated server.
Bottom line end of discussion. BL bloodlust is terrible. Not the spvp inside of WvW, that I dont care about, but the addition of raw power in the form of stat points to an already numerically superior server is terrible.
I really like the new architecture and mechanics but when Bloodlust is concerened I too think it will ruin the WvW experience for many of us (me myself included) – it’s just no fun fighting against overpowered enemies (no matter if it is because of gear or a buff they earned) and 150 is just too much.
As a roamer, oftentimes alone, it’s nice to have those small objcetives to fight over – but against enemies that have a plus of 150 to all of their stats? no fun at all!!
this is the exact same problem we had with the orbs of power. – so why do that again?
I very much like the fact that with blodlust we have a way of gaining WvW Score per kill though. That does indeed add a new flavour to the game, allowing for different strategies.
so what about hightening bloodlusts impact on the score? what about 2 WvW points per kill and bloodlust stack? but no buff on stats!
or what about a small speed buff, instead of 150 to all stats. might be nice to have something small such as +3% or 4% speed per stack or something similar. or something less gamebraking that only affects siege weapons: maybe the buff could be a buff on the speed you build siege weapons? or something similar to the WvW traits?
or a completely different idea: make the gain to WvW score really high, like 5 to 10 points per stack and kill but gain a CONDITION that substracts 150 stats, if you have all three stacks and yet add a serious boost on magic find and karma, etc… :-)
oh and by the way: right now the visual interface is somewhat irritating – lots of people don’t really get the mechanics and it would be nice being able to see on what borderlands a server has a stack in the Wvw overview.
The 150+ to all stats is just over the top imo, if they would reduce it to 25+ to all stats, max +50 to all stats it would be less overpowered.
The result is now like dev Habib Loew stated 10 months ago:
‘After a careful reevaluation of orbs of power we have decided to remove them from WvW in an upcoming build. As implemented, orbs tend to strengthen teams who are already winning and make it even more difficult for underdog teams to fight back.’
The current guard stacks are already powerful enough but adding these 150+ to all stats…
I think most of us have already seen enough screens of a server leading over 100k points in advance.
But like every serious WvWer, we all know where Arenanet wants to go with their game.
I don’t understand why Anet doesn’t have test servers like WoW where the player base can test changes and offer feedback on how these ideas work in practice. I really like this game, but lately there have just been some bone headed ideas that could have been avoided if they were piloted better.
IMO this system should have been what they implemented for unmanned. They said in an interview they didn’t wanted to give stats boost for unmanned for this and that reason. This is the same thing but it does a lot more damage.
Okay so I have been playing these new borderlands for a while and I had lots of fun but I can also see the flaws in it.
First of all, due to the tight spaces and the short distances, this new area works best as a roaming area where small groups of up to 10 people can fool around and fight or chase each other. Having the cappable locations lose their affiliation after a while is a great idea and ensures that there’s always work to do.
I found the cannons gimmicky but they might aswell stay. I’d also prefer some kind of debuff for larger groups to ensure the small scale character of the area. Something like having enemy NPCs spawn, scaled to your group size when you enter the area.
As many people mentioned before, the new area and system is fun. However, the buff needs some tweaking as it only supports the server that’s the strongest anyway. I have been thinking about it for a while and there are many valid options, for example:
- Don’t buff player stats, buff siege stats instead.
- +50% Magic find/WXP/Gold/etc. for each borderland under your control.
- Increase supply capacity for the server having the buff.
- Make it outnumbered-like: No repair costs for the server having the buff.
Those are just suggestions, there are many more options to make them valuable without having such a huge impact on the actual fights.
As people mentioned before, the update itself is fine, the buff is overkill though.

We were maybe 1k ahead of one server or dead even, although we had much smaller numbers. In 24 hours, they were 10k ahead and had been holding all 3 buffs for extended periods of time. It’s an extreme disadvantage to the underdog. I think Devon has lost his mind with this “new content”.

Actually, it would be more beneficial to have the NPCs with the buffs and not the players. This makes defending much more important than it currently is now. I’d be willing to bet that 95% of the people opposed to the buff as it is would agree to NPCs being the only ones to have it. The new areas are nice, but it really does look like they just dropped a Spvp map smack dab in the middle of the lake.

There are many “side effects” to this buff. Previously you were able to play on an uplevel and have a fair degree of effectiveness in small groups. Now if 5-6 of you run across ONE person with a 100-150 stat buff, you’re all gonna eat dirt. Uplevels are now easily “one shotted”.
The uplevels aren’t just at a higher disadvantage. Now they’re feeding points. Devon Carver has stated that they don’t want a bonus on unmanned so people harass people off a borderland, but now PPT focused servers have the motivation to harass poor players out of the game when they’re not holding the orb buffs.
I LOVED roaming around in groups of 4-5 friends and killing groups of 10+ enemies before. But that wont happen again if the others have the buffs…
The new stat buffs are great. Try figuring out the meta instead of assuming everything is a zergfest. I’ve had more small scale fights in the last 2 days in WvW than in the previous several months. The new terrain is INCREDIBLE and the stat buff is able to be held by small groups NOT a group of 40. Until servers figure out how to play with small groups, they will just get s*** on by the servers that do. My server was ticking sub-200 while we were gaining points on the server ticking 300-plus because we held the buff and actually killed people. Whine and moan all you want, but I hope ANet never removes this. It is balanced, directly benefits small groups, provides incredible terrain for creative engagement, and adds more layers of strategy. If anyone proposes that we go back to how it was or take the stats away, people won’t care about the middle of the map and all of the sudden we’re back to playing “who has the largest zerg”. Actually try playing the game instead of just complaining. And uplevels can get the stat bonuses too to be better while they roam. Why don’t you go cap the points so that big mean level 80 (with ascended gear btw, but I don’t see you complaining about that) can’t crap all over you with his “unfair stats”?

They transfer fluidly between servers unless you allocate people to protect and hold the points. Just because you can’t strategically comprehend a level of gameplay doesn’t make it broken or stupid.
The stat boost, while controversial, is there to give the buff meaning in the context of the general WvW battle. Providing boosts like %WXP, etc. don’t have impact in fights against other sides, they are just a nice bonus for you. The stat boost and the points for finishing players mean that not only do you want to have the buff, but you don’t want your opponents to have it.
I’m placing my bets on the Bloodlust being re-patched in aboooout…. 3-5 weeks, I’ve never seen the forums explode with this much retaliation before. If they don’t change this soon they will lose MANY players. This almost feels like the outcry that microsoft fans had over the “always-online” xbox one idea before they trashed the idea after the backlash at E3. Lets hope the backlash isn’t to severe

Your point is on the money in a relatively even match up, however, balanced matchups are not at the top of (or even on) Anets to do list. Would you care to transfer to Kodash or Desolation and give them a lesson in strategy against SFR at the moment?
Devon Carver has stated that they don’t want a bonus on unmanned so people harass people off a borderland, but now PPT focused servers have the motivation to harass poor players out of the game when they’re not holding the orb buffs.
Devon, what do you have to say about that? “We have to carefully test if we make any changes to wvw.” …thought so, just like the ACs.
