Bring back the Alpine BL

imo i think abl, dbl, and eotm should all be on a rotation. obviously some things need to be fixed on the dbl and eotm to make this possible. i think separating eotm completely was a horrible idea and only served to fracture the playerbase. each month would ideally start and end on alpine.

eotm is much better than dbl, A-net needs to scrap DBL completely.

Because i do not just want the old borderlands back.

I would like this game to progress, bringing the old back will just make it static and be honest most of you have seen this map for over 1,5 years, its not gonna reignite the WvW flame permanently.

For those in favor of bringing them back i must add that the mechanics prolly will be the new ones, god knows what arena-net has done to impliment those on the old maps, anyone guessed what the changes will be to the map?

For all the failings Desert borderland had maybe to many points to complicated for some players too much effort demanded on others it was an improvement.

There is more future in a permanent rotation if Arena-net were to add a couple of other maps with other condition-based challenges it might actually be fun to change maps evry week that would keep the borderlands from becoming to static.

In that context the Alpine Borderlands could be added and the Desert borderlands would not have to be removed and evryone would be more satisfied instead of a limited group of players which are stuck in their old ways no?

Old is not bether some ppl forget that most of you were crying for a change of maps when they introduced HOT, how long are you planning on doing WvW when they reintroduce the old maps, till you are again fed up with them? And then you all will stay in EBG again or dissapear again from WvW to do something else or leave the game like with the release of HOT?

new map is not bad because i like to dwell on the old map. i wanted a new map, but not a pve driven eotm cluster kitten with pve driven mechanics and horrible guild grind upgrades that un balance the entire game mode. the banners, the god kitten airstrike, the banners, the invis well( erm culling was removed for a reason…), the kitten banners, the pve raidbosslike lords, the banners, and everything that used to be fun like scouting, nija tactics, dolyaks sniping, upgrading yak escorting, golem rushes and all the sandbox features have been replaced by ai and pve gimmicks!
did i mention the horrible awful banners that are breaking this game mode?
the new map and all the stuff that came with it is the reason almost everyone ragequit. i wanted new maps but not this disaster!

thats not true most ppl were already on a break before HOT was released, its not because you don’t like the mechanics that you need to get rid of it, lots of ppl replied here that it needed time for them to learn to play it, and that they wanted new maps a real rotation not just Alpine borderlands.

Some of you don’t even do the effort.

As for scouting and ninja tactics most fighting guilds across the servers didn’t like those tactics right already on the alpine maps they were complaining about the fact that the ppl that were scouting escorting and building up keeps and towers were useless, just a waiste of ppl, personnel on a borderland a spot that could be filled with ppl for the fighting and the GVG

I would think back to that part of the story you seem to have forgotten that part?

YES I want the old maps back. I can not navigate these new maps. I used to command on the old maps and am completely lost on these. They look like a hot mess and will be confusing for newer players to wvw.

Yes, and now that we know this is gonna happen how about we start a new petition of wanting Desert to NEVER return (unless reworked hard)

just paint the desert borderland with snow, its practically the same as alphine
but for me, if its a colored theme matches
i want the maps on each border be different like

desert for red (you know what this is)
underwater for blue (underwater combat)
jungle for green (HoT themed)

I will admit an underwater map would be epic and a lot of fun. Sadly, I might be one of few players that like that idea.

No, I like the idea too. I for one wish the lake and the quaggans would come back instead of the ruins.

Ye have little faith, desert will be back,, the stress test will rework it:-)

And prolly it will come with a map-rotation.

But in the mean time i’ll boycot you like you are boycotting Desert* Desert stress test and only play EBG.

And yes 186 votes on a complaining forum isn’t representative for the entire GuildWars 2 WvW community :P

If you think only 186 ppl play GW 2 WvW over different 27 servers something must be wrong with your logic.

On top players reacting to the desert borderlands stress-test were asking “where that poll was” that decided to bring back Alpine stating “they didn’t know anything about it?”

DBL is not as big as it used to be with this “beta”. ABL is TOO small at this time with the number of people active in all tiers.

There is no right answer right now. I know if they bring ABL back, it is 1) Way out in schedule and 2) Would include all HOT mecanics.

On the surface it seems like the nostalgia would pull back more people, but look deeper and realize, you can barely take a BL sentry in T4 right now without being run over by 10+. Sentries in ABL would most likely have the marked feture as well, with quicker times for enemy zergs to reach you and mow you down.

While you believe ABL is too small. I believe Deserted BL is too big unless you grab that 40% move speed bonus (which is something I hate since it makes characters with a traited +25% movement speed to be obsolete once the buff is on).

I believe that ABL without the tower emergency waypoints would be just the right size. Roaming on Deserted BL is not as good as it was on Alpine. For sure Deserted BL might be great for those T1 servers with 150 men queue and blobs, but apart from that I think ABL is still the right size, be it for your blobs or for roaming.

Alpine borderland was always the paradise for roamers and the heaven for those fight guilds. Those fights guilds loved it even more than EB. Eternal Battlegroud is usually the pugland where all map blobs faceoff under one pugmander.

Anyway, I don’t see ABL coming back as being too early. The sooner the better if you wanna retain that population that came back because they feel the game got potential to be good again (stability changes, balance changes, server merges and ABL coming back are the big reasons players are coming back). The modified Deserted borderland is just a band-aid while we patiently wait for ABL to come back.

I want the old maps back. New maps were a terrible idea.
