Thief – Raiden Hayabusa
Thief – Gouki Kurokawa

Rule: Accurately forecast Daredevil traits for fun.
How: Post 10 traits you think would be part of Daredevil and explain them. Also include an Elite Skill.
The one with most accurate traits will be decided on Thief PoI.
Winner gets some Gold
hint: Find them on Reddit.
1. You cannot change your submission.
2. If you post after another reddit leak your post will be voided.

So let me set an example.
I want the Daredevil’s playstyle and mechanic to be excessively agitated / risky as the combat lasts. The longer the fight, the crazier and energetic the guy gets.
with a gamble, High risk High reward philosophy.
However i don’t want the Thief to end up looking like psycopath, Joker style. He still needs to remain the sneaky thief we love.
My calls -
Weapon: Staff. containing a decent amount of burst, but mostly for CCs.
I am seeing three main focus in that spec: One specialized with staff skill obviously. One specialized in Physical skills and the last one on the new steal / initiative but it will mostly be for sustain.
Let’s start with an alternative to Executioner on DA trait line.
Recklessness – intiative costs reduced if your target heatlh goes below the threshold. Lasts 10 seconds.
Below health threshold: 50%
-1 initiative cost
Below health threshold: 25 %
-2 initiative cost
Reflexes of the Cunning – Steal is improved, teleporting you directly behind your target and chilling them.
- 2 seconds Chill.
(OBVIOUSLY you face his back… lol it would suck if both of you were back to back lol #ThanksDrake)
Determined Assassin – Being revealed summons a shadowy self that upon contact immobilizes your target. Also grants toughness. (only one attack then vanishes.)
#noobsaibot
Cheap Tricks – Physical skills lasts longer and causes bleeds. (knockdown/back)
Heightened Perception – Staff skill #x (I bet one staff skill will block/absorb incoming project damages) also reflects projectiles and grants resistance.
Deafening Strikes -Critical hits with staff have a chance to daze… (Really not sure about this one, but let’s go… I feel like it could be an AA :/ )
Preparations -Entering stealth grants resistance.
Overzealous Bully -Attacking Knocked down targets grants might.
Ardent concoctions -hitting a blinded target, also causes them to burn.
Finally I think I would add this one
Elite Skill: Insidious demon – Your CDs are refreshed. Your Initiatives and Endurance bar does not deplete for 7 seconds.
Minors:
Saint – Blinding an opponent grants you Protection
Sinner – Striking an opponent while flanking blinds them (some ICD)
Sonar – Your attacks strike through blindness
Majors:
Follow-Up – Critical hits send out a Dancing Dagger to your opponents (some ICD)
Follow-Through – Critical hits while flanking knock down your opponent (some ICD)
Razor Reflexes – Evading an attack causes your next attack to double-strike (some ICD)
Second Wind – When your health goes below 50%, gain Quickness, Protection, and a small healing burst
Dancing Devil – Flanking strikes grant you a stack of Flow. At 5 stacks of Flow, gain a burst of Quickness
Unyielding – Physical skills are now stun breakers and have cooldowns reduced 20%
Somersault Sweep – Evading an attack triggers an area knockdown effect (some ICD)
Elite:
Devil Ring – Teleport your target to yourself, and create a Devil Ring. The Devil ring teleports all targets out of the ring except for the marked target, who will be teleported back inside if they attempt to leave. Enemy projectiles may not pass through the ring.
BONUS TRAITS:
Haunted – Every 10 seconds out of combat, reflect upon the unjust death of your father.
Cirque du Slowleil – Evading an attack slows your attacker.
(edited by Ravoku.1852)
“daredevil” might be a name for a new armor with certain stat combination and not necessarily the name of the elite spec. Since we really don’t know much about it, speculating based on unconfirmed information makes the purpose of this thread a waste of time. Sorry.
I think Daredevil, and especially Staff, if these do happen to be part of our elite specialization, won’t have real access to stealth and will rather focus on stealthless play, more focused on evading and blocking, maybe also some boon stealing.
1 Quick, Quicker, Daredevil
When you successfully block an attack, you get super speed and resistance. (ICD)
2 Block Mastery
Blocking also reflects projectiles. Per blocked attack you gain 1 Initiative and apply slow to the attacker. (ICD)
3 Try to hit me
When you evade an attack, remove 1 condition and gain 1 stack of might. (ICD)
4 Getting physical
Physical Skills recharge 20% faster and steal a boon from each affected opponent, sharing it with your allies.
5 ???
Critical hits daze your target. (ICD)
6 ???
If you daze someone, you apply bleeding and poison.
(could have also been cripple, blind or weakness instead of poison, but this could work for some S/D condi build as that is lacking any damaging conditions on its own)
7 Fighting dirty
When you blind someone, gain a stack of awesomeness Unfairness.
Unfairness: Increases your damage by 2% per stack and decreases incoming damage by 2% per stack. (max 10 stacks)
8 Devils Grace
Successfully evading an attack dazes the attacker. (ICD)
9 Go and Rage
If you don’t have any utility cooldowns, you deal X% more dmg.
If you have utility cooldowns, you gain 2 Initiative every 10 seconds.
10 ???
After you steal, the next utility skill you use has its recharge reduced by 50%. (ICD?)
(or use the new class mechanic, depends on whether something gets added like Chronomancer or changed like Reaper)
Elite: Physical Skill called Power Up
For the next 10/20s, you deal 20% extra damage and conditions on you have 50% reduced duration. With every hit you leech health.
(ICD for the boon steal part of Getting Physical)
(as english is not my native language, coming up with names ended up being a problem)
No serious speculation on the traits, but if Daredevils are indeed getting Physical skills, I expect the spec to be based on interrupts and CC. So, I’m taking a guess that there will be at least a couple of traits that proc effects on interrupt.
I’ll take another wild guess that the Elite skill will be a transformation like Rampage, but focused more on mobility than tankiness. The weapon skill replacements will include a lot of tumbles and evades, and instead of a reduction to incoming damage there will be a boost to Endurance regeneration. I’m picturing like a Tasmanian (Dare)Devil kind of situation where the Thief is just rolling all over everywhere messing stuff up.
Staff ability set:
1) Auto attack chain, cripple→weakness→Immobilize
2) Rapid attack series inflicting vulnerability
3) Whirling defense (same as ranger skill, but shorter) that applies aegis every pulse
4) Leap to target and stun
5) Block that throws staff to impale and knockback an enemy (inflicts bleed/torment)
Phys skills: (they show 4 of each)
1) Mordrem Terragriffs do a rush that knocks back and evades, we get it
2) Knockdown that propels us backwards
3) A stun whack with high damage
4) An evasion chain that acts like shocking aura
Traits (9 major, 3 minor):
Minor 1) When Thief evades an attack, Thief gains protection
Minor 2) When Thief blocks an attack, Thief gains Regeneration
Minor 3) When Thief gains Protection and Regeneration, Thief gains Resistance
Major 1) Phys skills have cooldown lowered by 20% and apply additional effects (similar to corruption trait with Necromancers)
Major 2) When Thief takes more than 5% hp in one hit, gain 1 initiative
Major 3) Lower weapon swap cd by 3 seconds
Major 4) Consecutive attacks on a target apply increasing vulnerability and might (1/2/3/4/5 cap at some point)
Major 5) Swapping weapons grants Stealth
Major 6) Stealth grants aegis and restores endurance
Major 7) Consecutive attacks on a target (every 3?) applies a stun
Major Any boons gained by Thief are applied to nearby allies (yay support)
Major 9) For every 5% max hp damage Thief takes off of enemy, Thief gains 1 initiative
And that’s my guess. Or how I would roll it. People want a tankier, more mobile, more evasive, more supportive thief. There ya go. =)
Problem with every single first minor so far that was noted down as first minor – doesn’t change the class mechanic :p

Come on man. Cheer up
Elite:
Devil Ring – Teleport your target to yourself, and create a Devil Ring. The Devil ring teleports all targets out of the ring except for the marked target, who will be teleported back inside if they attempt to leave. Enemy projectiles may not pass through the ring.
I gotta say… this Elite is just plain amazing. just wow. It would be like a public execution.
7 Fighting dirty
When you blind someone, gain a stack ofawesomenessUnfairness.
Unfairness: Increases your damage by 2% per stack and decreases incoming damage by 2% per stack. (max 10 stacks)(as english is not my native language, coming up with names ended up being a problem)
I like this this system a lot :o very dirty fighting indeed.

Man those are some nice ideas. I hope we get to see more before Monday.
I am thinking winner get a minimum of 5 gold. Now depending how accurate he/she was i ll give up to 10g. I think that’s reasonable for a mini game.
Also think that anet could use some of the traits/elites here as an idea, I doubt any of their debts now how to fix what thieves really lack
and your game, your rules man
would’ve done it without any offered reward as well, was fun to come up with some traits
Here’s my guess.
Dev – Dare to play thief?
Player – Yes!
Dev – Then I’ll just have to nerf it some more.
I’ll bite. Let’s start with the new Mechanic:
Set-up
Focus
Traits
(edited by TheSwede.9512)
Grandmaster Trait: Endless Forms – Staff Skills have increased Range (60). You deal Increased Damage to enemies with Protection. Damage Increase: 25%
Grandmaster Trait: Inner Peace – Activating a Focus Converts Conditions into Boons. Conditions Converted: 2.
Those two grandmaster traits are amazing. Man those are some good ideas. :o Set Up is really neat mechanic too. Good job.
you forgot to post an Elite skill? you still have time! (Also i am curious lol)
Also i am starting to see a lot of “Physical skills break stun” trait. Looks like we have common vision.
snip
Seriously, you should be a dev.

I didn’t actually post any Skills at all, heh. Can always post them down here.
Heal Skill: Inner Energy
Basically, a Heal-over-Time effect that Awards the Daredevil for sticking on the Offense even as he Heals himself, as incentive for the Daredevil to take the gamble and not turtle up in Stealth to reset the fight. The Healing increase is Additive (7% +7% = 14%) meaning that as long as the Daredevil keeps in the fight, they can get as much as 84%-105% extra Healing from this Skill.
Utility Skill: Flying Shadow
Utility Skill: Somersault Kick
Utility Skill: Rain of Steel
Utility Skill: Focus Blow
Elite Skill: Dancing Shadows
While mechanically not that intuitive, they provide the typical Risk/Reward style expected from a Daredevil. Throwing everything into their attacks and paying for it should they fail, it puts a lot of stress on Player skill and knowledge of when to throw them out and against what enemies.
(edited by TheSwede.9512)
^^^^^^
I loved everything, and you got the risk/reward theme on lock. some of the drawbacks are truly severe too lol.
I think we accidentally found our future Dev guys.
why so much self-harm ? thieves already die in seconds …

The general idea is that having a Drawback for missing allows the Daredevil’s physical Skills to be incredibly fast (Most have an Activation time of 1/4s) and relatively low Cooldowns (Highest is the elite at 40s) while still being pretty powerful. It rewards players who can read their opponents and stay one step ahead during a fight, while punishing players who become predictable and desperate.
1/4s isn’t fast. Instant is fast.
Also when fighting 2+ ppl having drawback for missing is insane.
With all this drawback elite skill should be kittene to hang ourselves.

Knockdown and knockbacks can’t be instant mate. That’s why 1/4 is needed to require the Daredevil to at least reach the target.
Instant would be something Steal also provides knockdowns and that would be ridiculous.
New trait line is a better version of acrobatics, which is why they nerfed acrobatics so we’d be happy to get the same line.
For my part, I just want a trait called “Pocket Sand!” that makes blinds do a burst of damage when applied on a short ICD.

hey! That’s good! Just like Reapers cause damage with Chill. Come on, make a quick list before monday!
10 traits, don’t have to be elaborate like the others , and one Elite Skill.

I’m so focused on dreading what we’re going to get that I’m not able to dream about what we could get.
I wasn’t impressed with Dragonhunter, Tempest, or Herald… and not only were they underwhelming, but the team lead who is working on all of them is (as far as I can tell) stretching across more professions than the other ones, which will probably impact the quality significantly.
Basically: There’s really no hope of nice things, so why bother?
Currently the thief is restricted by INI in that once they deplete the INI pool they have to avoid combat or uses utilties to build it back up again until they ready to go on full attack once more. This , coupled with low health pools and armor makes for that quick in and out style where one seeks advantage for a flurry of killing blows.
What I think we will see , or at least what I hope to see is a traitline that focuses even more on ini enhancing skills. The attacks might not hit as hard as other styles but because they will cost less INI (or the traitline will offer more rewards in the way of the same) they can be launched in rapid succession.
Obviously this will include some weapon style evades or perhaps blocks. The heal might well be tied to an increase in healing based upon the INI in ones existing pool such as a base heal plus gain 400 health per ini in pool . The elite might be a physical one with “Add health and remove conditions based on Ini spent”
So for the heal
Misers healing. (cant think of a name)
Cooldown 25 seconds. Physical skill. Heal 2500 + 400 for every point of INI in pool. (heals adjusted by healing power of .15)
Elite skill (physical) Many returns 60 second cooldown. Gain 200 health for every INI in pool and revove one condition per ini spent. (heal affected by healing power .10) 60 second CD. Also heals nearby allies.

Astounding Acrobatics
Evading an attack causes Confusion.
Leap of Faith (Thief)
Take no fall damage while stealthed.
Reflexive evasion
Automatically evade projectiles for four seconds upon gaining swiftness.

So if the unconfirmed stuff ends up being true, do I win?
Nvm, I wasn’t specific enough.
oh kitten oh kitten oh kitten it’s out.
I need to read everything, and take my time to decide the winner.
FORECASTING CONTEST IS CLOSED.
Technically, it’s still just datamining. Wait until official release before you declare the winner :p
yeah i am not declaring the winner until PoI but because of this major leak, i don’t accept anymore suggestions :p
WE HAVE A WINNER * we have a winner * WE HAVE A WINNER * we have a winner *

After careful analysis I am proud to say that:
wins the forecasting contest by having a forecast closest to the revealed Daredevil spec. Congratulations.
Serious Thoughts
-2) “Rapid attack series” . pretty much Staff #2
-2) Knockdown that propels us backwards . similar to Bandit’s Defense
- 3) A stun whack with high damage. – Fist Flurry.
Major 1) Phys skills have cooldown lowered by 20% – exactly like reveal.
3 points
Tarkan.5609
4 Getting physical
Physical Skills recharge 20% faster and steal a boon from each affected opponent, sharing it with your allies.
1 point for getting recharge 20% right.
Ravoku.1852
“Razor Reflexes – Evading an attack causes your next attack to double-strike”
Very similar to Evasive Empowerement. http://imgur.com/a/Ee6t8#3
“Unyielding – Physical skills are now stun breakers and have cooldowns reduced 20%”
Physical skills with CD forecast correct.
“Follow-Up – Critical hits send out a Dancing Dagger to your opponents "
mentions throwing dagger upon activations of things.
3points

- “Grandmaster Trait: Fearless – Physical Skills Break Stun and Restores Endurance (50).”
Accurate on endurance recovery
-" Heal Skill: Inner Energy"- mentions the idea pulses.
-“Utility Skill: Rain of Steel” – mentions throwing daggers
-“Utility Skill: Focus Blow” – mentions blocking attacks and countering
- “Utility Skill: Somersault Kick” – Similar to Staff #3

With the most points, you win a minimum of 5 gold + 2 gold for precision + 0 for secretly working for the dev.
After you answer this post, I will mail you 7g. if you could take a screenshot of that as proof, it could be nice.
GG and thank you all for playing!
Already took the G, but I can assure that it was all there.
Cheers for the extra cash, didn’t even know this was a competition, hah!
