Today i had a very interesting experience that i would like to share especially on this thread.

As i was going about my business, i noticed a landscape company cutting branches from this huge tree that been causing alot of problems..

As i watched them, i stepped in and ask one of the workers, why not just pluck the tree from the ground and problem solved.

His answers will not surprise you, “it is is worth it!, as long we can keep an eye on the branches, it’ll be okay”

So i persisted, ’yea i hear you, but why not just pluck tree, and not worry about coming back over and over again"

He answered, “look this is all we can do, so get over it”

So…….

my question to you..

Isn’t this Arena.net ways of not resolving thief Op status with wasted nerfs?

The status of thieves has decreased since the release of the game. If you cut back plants without letting them gain ground in between, they die.

So when your teeth hurt, why not pull em out? (sure the wisdom teeth…)
So if a person gets cancer why not just kill them, right? (there’s no way to cure it that has been excepted by the medical institutions).
If there’s weeds on your lawn why not torch the lawn and be done with it?
Actually, wtf is the point of trees?

K, pruning is a pain, lets say someone “redesigns” the root of trees to grow w/o branches. Just a long kitten stick growing towards the sky with leaves coming out from it. Then the leaves will become pain in the kitten to clean/blow away… Why not then “redesign” the tree again? make a long kitten stick that’s without branches and without leaves and just produces oxygen. well kitten it, now there’s a bunch of sticks sticking out of the ground. why not redesign it again to have it not grow from the ground and spit out oxygen from the ground. well, why not find a way to just produce oxygen w/o having to plant those trees… why not find a way to not breath the oxygen…

Never mind the function of the tree… why prune and keep the trees around you in general? I mean there’s enough trees out there for not really needing to have one of your own… Beauty?

Slippery slope… but up to now there really has only been nerfs… with “buffs” just for us to not say “only nerfs”.

Jesus man, i thought you were an awesome troll/poet… but this… Gotta say, our artistic views don’t exactly match.

Why: Like branches on a tree, even though the thief gets trimmed/cut (nerfed), their OP status increases, grows and regenerates. Pluck the tree from the ground! Burn it to the ground! Plant a flower instead.

I think it can go across the board… since defeat does hurt regardless of class, hence the QQ’ing when they die to backstabs.

i think we all hate it when we die
but most of us just play the class we pick
the thief is good at jumping in on a fight to help finish off there juggernaut or solo
when u see a thief u just need to watch your back bait them in thief’s have low hp
i love fighting thief’s when i am a element or guard ranger idk but if a thief is running sword dagger i know they will try to steel my boons and that will be the last thing u want . so i try to unload before they see it coming .but the thief is the king of surprise i feel when fighting a thief it is a 50/50 chance of winning on what they r running! but depending how much exp u have vs a thief is the factor that can make wining with odds on your side
guards tele skill to jump them and nuke with symbols and spinning wrath is awesome vs a thief if u have enough power in it but u can kill a glassy thief before they have time to react

What: Pistols
Why: their direct damage is too high. We should make the auto attack cost one imitative per shot because it does so much damage so quickly. Also the 2 skill should just be removed because thieves shouldn’t be able to root people, or apply vulnerability, especially with the extreme direct damage of pistol AA. While were at it, pistol shouldn’t be available as an off hand. Blind on a THIEF?! Outrageous! Just make pistol unable to even have an off hand weapon because, I mean, that AA is just so O kittening P!

Why: Even though OP perma-stealth exploit build has been nerfed… This is still happening:

Clearly, that nerf was not enough. He’s still perma-stealth exploiting left and right using CnD, blinding powder, hide in shadows and shadow refuge. More nerfs are necessary as the last one didn’t do any justice.

I wish thief could only do damage when out of combat. Why should they be able to crit for 8k?

Also they can only move out of stealth, otherwise all teleports and movement skills are disabled and you’re rooted.

Suggestion: Take away blind abilities. Give more initiative to balance it!

Why: They heal and stealth! Countering requires thinking during a fight!
Suggestion: Replace it with a 1 initiative/sec gain while inside.

Why: The Thief should also be blinded unless they are wearing an infrared goggles. So no more stomping those poor and pathetic Warriors after using Black Powder. It’s not fair to them.

What: P/d pistol immobilize.
Why: I can spam it, with wire-trap, caltrops, roll for iniative, dodge, dagger-throw slow and the other roll back and heal thing.. i kite everything in WvW with this setup. Except that elementalist, i dealt 500 dmg to her before i was down.

What: Shortbow AutoAttack
Why: It bounces between targets, dealing damage without having the Thief to aim! The thief should have to aim at all times, it’s an assassin! The thief should have to manually calculate the refraction angles if he wants the arrows to bounce targets.

This is an ongoing topic… there is no end…
(Well the end is when the class gets removed from the game.)

But if it received all the nerfs above… it would be closer to what others consider “balanced”.

What: Thief Skill Twisting Fangs
Why: True Story: I recently encountered a thief in wvw. I saw that he was d/d and prepared my stunlocks, stabilities, and aoe. Suddenly, he unequipped one dagger, and proceeded to spam Twisting Fangs (1 dagger equipped; skill3). Not only was the range horrendously OP (130), but the spinning animation brought tears to my eyes! I wept as I died from this OP skill. Please, remove the range, or the spinning animation, or make thieves use TWO daggers, not ONE.

That could have been me roaming on single-handed Saturday. Some times I like to run around with no stealth, but the temptation of Cloak and Dagger being so OP it too much. So I remove the offhand and run around Borderlands slapping yaks with our most OP skills, such as STAB and REPEATER! or if I’m playing a condition build, I just get around like a 1st edition Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Thief with one dagger and Twisted Fangs like it’s 1979.

What: Shortbow – Disabling Shot
Why: It costs 4 init dodges and cripples. It is stupid how spamable. No i did not lose to it. Its just a stupid thing to have. Every thief that fails hard with his/her back stab whips this out and goes 3333333. Its dumb and can be easily spammed

Solution: Remove the dodge and just leave it for the cripple.

HHHHMmmmm a buff list… for a class that people want a nerf… that’s absurd!
See the buff list, is unrealistic in a sense that:
It’s limitless in possibilities, while the nerf list stops when the class is removed or nerfed into uselessness.
It’s wishful thinking, while the nerf list is also wishful thinking, but it’s more likely that the nerfs will be fufilled as to stop people from QQ’ing… they can’t be happy when they’re QQ’ing and the class is getting buffed, noooo.

But on a more serious note…
Yes a lot of the above nerfs are sarcastic/funny… but some are real requests, specifically, all the ones where i’ve stated that they were originally by someone else… meaning someone else came to this forum created a “QQ plz nerfz thiefz” thread about something they wanted to nerf. These requests happen at least once (if not more) a week. So to help the devs in keeping track of all the QQ’s and nerf requests while keeping the forums cleaner of them, this thread was created…
I don’t see a lot of people coming to these forums and requesting a buff… definately not from other classes that’s for sure… See, it’s easier to destroy then it is to create… as opposed to thinking “Why are thieves only using this one build” (could it be possibily because others are not as good due to…) they think “OMG SO MANY RUNS THIS MUST BE CUZ OP”… further more instead of thinking “How can I improve myself and counter something” or “Is it worth fighting it?”,they think “OMG TOOOOO OP NERFZ NEXT PATCH PLEZ” …
The sarcastic/funny ones, tells a bit about what state the thieve’s mindset is in… or what they ridicular when people ask for nerfs… or how they view the ones that come in and request these nerfs…
Even those that are sarcastic/funny are every bit true, because that’s they impression they get from others coming to QQ on these forums.

By all means go ahead create a Buff wish list… people will put kittens up there…
