Why:First of all you cannot shut down this class anymore. They have too many evades and escapes. Why should a class be given weapon evades, utility evades and dodge rolls with vigor. When can your enemy even touch you?
Secondly, they have to much regen. If a thief uses vamprism runes or shadows regeneration skill set, they either run away and heal or continue to heal every few seconds. Some thieves have low life cause they know they will regen it all every few seconds and cant be killed no matter what. I hardly see thiefs get killed inpvp anymore.
Thirdly, the class has too much swiftness uptime and can daze every few seconds with pistol. It’s only class that can achieve such mobility and fly around the map dazing people.
Anet needs to nerf this class before its to late.

After seeing the thief’s action in the past, it is really laughable that people even complain about Rapid Fire LOL. I know this is only in the past before all the nerfs, but my point is it’s like 10 times stronger than RF. What a joke.

true that it can already be done with instant blink skills
BUT those are on LONGER cooldowns and don’t give the insane things that a traited LOW COOLDOWN steal does

This is kind of like a pre-release request, thought I would document it to see if it occur post-release – surely it will.
The other interesting thing is, he’s essentially saying not to buff steal in this case. The reason I find this interesting is that it could potentially signify evolution or a new species of QQ posts. Instead of asking for something to be nerfed, they could start progressively asking for something to not/never be buffed. Very interesting post specimen.

Let’s never buff short bow skills! They give too much evades as it is.

I agree DarkSyze and i read a lot of your posts and think they are all very true.

I think a lot of stuff has to be changed on the thief profession to make it balanced. Start with the insane amount of stealth would be a good and backstab damage also.

I mained a ranger before I stumbled across thief.
Your class has awesome mechanics against thieves, you just need to learn them.
Most rangers I encounter clutch their longbow and pew pew pew into my daggerstorm – their own fault.

It would be a lot if I explain to you how traps work, what sic em does, what pet would be best for what occassion, what your weapons do – ask in the ranger forums? I’m sure there’s someone who knows how to play the class =)
Trap in power ranger is not good idea… dont have many condition damage… sic em he just shadow step away wait for reveal be gone then come back and kill me…
only way is with stealth trap but even then sometimes they notice run away and come back when i dont have supply anymore…

As an experiment myself and 4 friends all qued up in spvp kitten d/d thiefs. We roamed the map in groups of 2 with 1 guy holding home and literally 1sec comboed the enemiy team. Players were disconnecting because what we were doing was unstoppable, and simply overpowered.
Sure at the moment you dont see thief picked up in every battle, but give it a month and people will start noticing how strongly buffed the class has become in comparison to others, over the last few patches.

Suggestion:The first thing that must be done if we wish to have a good game, is to cut all weapon evades from the thief class, as they currently have enough evades through dodge rolls and utilities, as well as vigor.
The second step to making a more balanced thief, is to give each class that isn’t a thief a new ability. This ability will counter stealth for a few seconds. Lets say the thief is DP and spamming powder/heart seeker or DD with CnD. Well stealth lasts up to 5 – 10 sec, therefore we make a skill that reveals invisible units for 4 seconds on a 20 second cooldown. This skill will be called eye seeker and a hard counter to perm stealth builds. Every class but thief will have this as an optional utility.
The last step to rid the game of this Overpowerd character and to balance the class, would be to scale attack speed according to enemy armour. The thief currently puts out to much damage to fast, with a quick attack speed and 100% crits with hidden killer. If an enemy has high armour, the thief will then be dealt a frost effect after hitting from stealth, this effect would reduce attack speed per strike. The effect will stack up to 4 times, reducing attack speed by 25% each stack.

What: Last Refuge + Hard to Catch combo
Why: The Thief should not be able to shadowstep, blind and stealth at the same time when dazed at 25% HP. I was just going to finish the Thief off, then poof, he’s nowhere to be found. Since the stealth lasted for 3s and the Dazed only lasted for 1s, he was able to run away due to the Swiftness buff from Hard to Catch.
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.
What: Hard to Catch
Why: Trait is too good to be around, insta teleport and stunbreak what is this anet? Remove the port, double the internal cooldown and give thief revealed when this trait procs to make it at least not overpowered anymore as any thief build atm uses it

Not punish. Rework the learning curve a bit. (Slightly better staying power, slightly less other areas), nothing enough to cause homogenization. I won’t get too specific here because I know it’s not in my best interest to discuss these things in a thief forum.

Of all the classes, a Master level Thief holds the advantage.
Only a Master level Guardian can proudly say that they have the edge over a Master level thief.
Thieves are OP to every other class except Guardian.
All classes under the control of superb Master level players, Thief comes out on top in every encounter except vs Guardians.

sad, isn’t (it)? the bias is so unreal… i don’t think i ever got trolled so hard before and i played quite few games in the past lol
