Also remove their teleports because thieves are entirely to mobile, oh and please remove thief weapons entirely, their spammable attacks are ridiculous.

Or you could try hitting them in their vulnerable frames and counting stealth instead of sitting there waiting for them to stand still while you smack em. It really just takes 1 burst and it’s gg so try to focus on just setting up that. The problem most encounter is that they are constantly trying to keep damage on the thief like they have to with other bunkers. Thief is a different fight mentality as the dodges let it keep out of that sustained damage, but leave it vulnerable to a massive burst.
I’m writing a huge proposition on balance changes and some of this type of stuff will still be addressed but a good majority is a l2p issue. Don’t spam attacks and don’t let the thief bait your cds.
- kite around no valid path spots (there are so many i can’t even count). terrain abuse is your best friend!
- dodge venom
- dont cast obviously long skills if you got focused hard, also try casting heal and other key abilitys in LoS
- cc when its casting DD-heal, 5→2, venom
- Handling weakness as D/P is rather difficult
- win the outnumbered fights till its decapping/+1ing other nodes

please remove thief armor. there’s no way they would be able to be stealthy while wearing so much bulky clothing.
also please remove thief healing abilities. they heal too much and it’s not fair because healing.
When thieves get 10000 passives, HP pool raise, blocks, invuls, multiple heals and multiple instant AoE dealing absurd amount of dmg like classes you play OP, then sureee.

Thief needs a total rework not nerfing. A profession that has to use all of its resources to cut some of my hp meanwhile I can kill him with 1 arc divider even when he goes to stealth is not balanced at all.
Anet is stuck on nerfing thieves’ defenses and focusing on its damage dealing, but it doesn’t work out. In spvp thief might be useful but in wvw they are still a noob stomping class forced to roam and pick the weakest targets from the herd. They are only dangerous in group of 2 or more but 1v1 I don’t see how evades are a problem when profession can be 1-2 shoted.
Thief by design is ganking profession, but since anet has no idea of balancing the game they gave every other profession tools to defend themselves against thieves negating its ganking potential, so thief right now is pretty weak in my opinion comparing to other professions, especially when everyone has auto-popping invulnerability.

No, no, no, what am I thinking? Give me all of your teleport skills, since I don’t have enough. The amount of teleports they have (between their actual teleports, teleports regen and weapon skill teleports) is just absolutely ridiculous.
Heavy armor classes shouldn’t teleport at all. It defies MMO RPG logic. In Diablo1 my warrior could teleport though, but had to wear all mage +Intelligence gear that I had to buy from Wirt. So I could teleport around the maps but not kill anything. That’s balance.

I rarely play Thief, as I like the Sword builds and they just aren’t as good. I’m an Engi mainly, who wishes jump shot has evade like vault or had the dazes back from Gyros, so I’m not mashed to a pulp. Its a L2P but also a support your fellow players issue.
D/P is the narrow funnel that Thieves are left with ( bar fun builds) and I don’t want other classes dragged down with petty nerfs, because ANET can’t balance.
I always run reveal on engi (either hammer or rifle ) and find those that evade and disappear a lot, actually don’t leave much energy for big damage.
Get behind the Thieves who want a wider choice.
Since OPs title is “nerf d/p” and he mentions evadades on weapons, may I ask how many evades are there on d/p?
Removing daze (possibility to interrupt) from pistol is actually a ridiculous suggestion, since PI (strong source of dmg) is almost useless.
Reducing smoke field from Black Powder to 1 sec is again extremely over the top. Is there any field which stays for only 1 sec?
OT: OP, I am sorry that you died on your trapper guardian to a thief.
Um no, there are other sets that use pistol as offhand that would suffer indirectly from this.

If they nerf all the passive defense junk both pre and post HoT from the other classes… they can have the thief evades.
I am constantly amazed a class that isn’t particularly good in sPvP, WvW duels, WvW skirmish and pretty useless in WvW zergs get continual hate for the ONE fighting element they do well… catching zerglings and killing injured players. Seems most players just want the class deleted which another year or so of typical ANet patches might do.

I might have the best idea regarding thieves/daredevil. As a daredevil myself, I have seen enough of complains about how ‘OP’ we are. So my suggestion is to change thieve/daredevil skills to dance moves. So we do not fight, we just focus on dancing and playing fashion wars. How about that?

But dance moves can hit other thieves if they are also dancing. Only thieves can hit thieves. That should be awesome in PvP.
